Chapter 6
A cry tore through the air as Doctor Elmsworth was greeting Helen together they raced to the study to find Peter Serena Edmund Susan and Lucy working furiously around their father.
Lucy shouted to Edmund, Peter and Serena to grab their fathers arms to keep him from thrashing and hurting himself further.
"Serena Peter hold his arms Edmund his legs Susan get mother and the doctor out of my way." Lucy snapped working to stanch the bleeding in her fathers leg. the children changed positions quickly and Susan whirled around to confront the two adults.
"Please Doctor Elmsworth Mother, Lucy and the others have this well in hand."
"They should not be touching him at all they are not trained medical personnel." He said angrily.
"Please let us go and get some tea they will be finished in a few moments." Susan with all the grace of the Gentle Queen led her mother and the flustered doctor from the room.
Later the doctor checked the wounds and with an air of amazement pronounced them on the mend and as he was leaving he stopped as he heard a voice.
"Let me tell you the story of how the Golden age of Narnia began." That sounded very interesting and he stopped he wasn't adverse to fairy stories as some adults were, Helen looked over at him and motioned for him to stand with her outside the study.
"Five children made their way into Narnia, not all at once mind you but gradually. The first to enter was Lily she discovered Narnia in the back of a wardrobe. When she entered she found a little clearing and in that clearing was an iron lamppost.
"Mother, Doctor if you would like to hear the story come in and sit down for it is one worth knowing." The two looked at each other astonished but went in and sat much to Johns enjoyment.
Lucy smiled warmly and continued.
"Lily looked around in wonder and as she approached the lamppost she saw what she assumed to be a little man. I say assumed because it was not a little man that came into the clearing but a faun." Lucy smiled as she remembered her friend.
"the faun looked up at Lily and dropped his parcels startled. "Dear me." He cried as he bent to pick them up. Lily went to help as her mother had not raised her to be rude. " Please excuse me but are you a daughter of Eve? He asked as they straightened. "My mums name is Helena.." Lily said confusedly…"
Lucy continued the story John couldn't help but feel sorrow at how young "Edward" had betrayed his family feeling as though it were somehow connected to him.
"Finally it was time for the battle with the white witch. Aslan had resurrected as the Deep Magic had been appeased with his sacrifice in Edwards stead. Aslan was with Suzette and Lily going to the witches house to gather more troops from those beings she had made of those who apposed her. Now Parker Edward and Serenity sat atop the hill at the fords of Beruna Parker atop a snow white stallion Serenity on a pitch black one and Edward atop a stallion the color of fire. Parker sat between his siblings, he looked left to Edward who glanced at him and nodded solemnly then he looked right to Serenity and received the same nod. Looking over Serenity's shoulder he saw Orius standing strong beside her the look in his eyes said the General would stand beside the three of them to the death and beyond.
Finally all four leaders looked out to where they knew the Witch and her forces would be arriving and saw them standing there waiting. It was for a moment a vacuum in time where two apposing forces stood and eyed each other and then by some unspoken and unknown signal Parker unsheathed his sword Rhindon and held it aloft. "FOR NARNIA!" He bellowed as the troops echoed his cry, Serenity swept her sword Vasi from its sheath and Edward freed the sword Phalanx he had gotten from the dwarves and together they answered Parker with the cry "FOR ASLAN!" and together they raced down the hill."
Everyone was on the edge of their seats those who thought the story was not true could almost see the battle while Edmund, Peter, and Serena who had been there could see it and by the gleams in their eyes were reliving the experience.
"With a tremendous crash the two lines met heads were smote from shoulders an the cries of the wounded and dying soon filled the air. Serenity Parker and Edward were like three bodies an done mind with Orius protecting their backs. Finally a line to the Witch herself was made and Orius with Edward took the time to charge her Orius in front as a distraction Edward to the side to come from her back. Alas Orius was turned to stone before Young Edward could catch the witches wand with his sword. Edward brought his sword crashing down on the witches wand they dueled for a short time until the Witch made a move that Edward could not parry and struck him in the abdomen."
At this there were gasps heard around the room and Peter and Serena pressed closer to Edmund.
"Parker and Serenity saw Edmund fall and an overwhelming fury filled them as they called out for their brother.
"PANTHERS!" Serenity called. "PANTHERS TO ME!" And the panthers raced after their queen a deadly black shadow over the land and from that day forward Serenity was known as the "Panther Queen" of Narnia. Parker spurred his horse after Serenity and cried mightily "EAGLES TO ME TO ME PROTECT KING EDWARD!" and that day Parker became known as the "Eagle King." The panthers and eagled kept a circle around the three monarchs protecting Edward and keeping those who would strike Parker and Serenity in the back at bay. They fought the White Witch but were tiring fast against her formidable strength and knowledge of the fighting arts."
Lucy dropped her voice and the intensity in her tone wound the others tightly.
"Suddenly a mighty roar was heard throughout the fords and beyond and everyone froze and turned to see there on the top of the cliff shaking his gloriously shaggy golden mane was Aslan Himself. The tired Narnian Army gave ragged cheers as the Witches army looked on in terrified disbelief. Aslan leapt down the cliff followed closely by the warriors he had liberated from the witches castle Lily and Suzette helped the archers pin down the enemy. Aslan leapt for the witch and in one moment their eyes met before Aslan landed on her and the witch was no more. "It is finished." Aslan announced as he turned to face Parker Serenity Suzette and Lily. "Aslan please it's Edward the Witch struck him down he's still alive but needs help." Serenity said and they all ran to where the faun medics had taken the young king. "Lily your cordial quickly."
Aslan directed and Lily nodded taking her cordial from its holster she poured a small drop into her brothers mouth and saw his color improve. Aslan reminded Lily of her duty to the other fallen as he himself turned those who had been made into stone back into their natural form. After the funerals for those who had given their lives it was time for the coronation. The Five siblings were dressed in clothes of the finest silk and velvet but even their most formal clothing was still very comfortable. The Five were led in by Aslan Parker and Serenity on his right Suzette Edward and Lilly on his left.
When they were crowned Aslan said. "Once a King or Queen of Narnia always a King or Queen." Then he started the cheer. " Long live High King Parker, long live High Queen Serenity, long live Queen Suzette, long live King Edward, long live Queen Lily!" The court cheered and the Five couldn't hold back their happy grins. Over the years Aslan came and went fifteen years passed Serenity married General Orius Edward entered a courtship with a lovely young lady by the name of Sophie, and Parker Lily and Suzette continued to fend off marriage suits from those deemed unworthy of the Eagle the Dove and the Lioness. Until one day the five went on a hunting trip for the white stag known for giving a wish if caught. Together they stumbled back into the place they had once come from and back into the bodies of children."
The story ended and Helen couldn't help but feel that maybe just maybe the story had been real. John leaned against his pillows contemplative something stirred in him a half forgotten dream he could almost remember. Finally Lucy shooed everyone from the study and the doctor left thoroughly impressed with the Pevensie children confident that his patient was left in good hands.
