Secret

Alan sat in the great hall, at the Gryffindor table, wishing people would stop staring. But thankfully Dumbledore introduced the new defence against the dark arts teacher and that got everyone's attention, Especially Umbridge's speech!

"Thank you, headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright happy faces smiling up at me. I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends. The Ministry of Magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be of vital importance. Although each headmaster has brought something new to this historic school progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved perfect what can be perfected and prune practices that ought to be prohibited."

Destiny shot Fred and George a look and the three of them smirked and Alan heard Hermione say, "This means the ministry is interfering in the school."

Meanwhile Dumbledore was speaking, "Thank you, Professor Umbridge. That really was most illuminating."

A lot of people snorted and some cheeky comments were made. After that everyone went up to their common rooms.

"Dean, Seamus. Good holiday?" Harry asked.

"All right. Better than Seamus', anyway." Dean replied.

Everyone looked at Seamus and he said, "Me mum didn't want me to come back this year."

"Why not?" Harry asked

"Let me see. Because of you. The Daily Prophet's been saying a lot of things about you and Dumbledore." Seamus replied.

"What, your mum believes them?" Destiny asked.

"Nobody was there the night Cedric died-"

Harry cut him off, "I guess you should read the Prophet, then, like your stupid mother."

"Don't talk that way about my mother." Seamus replied getting angry.

"I'll have a go at anyone that calls me a liar." Harry replied getting angry.

Ron came over, "What's going on?"

"He's mad, is what's going on. Do you believe the rubbish he's come out with about You-Know-Who?" Seamus asked looking at all of them.

"Yeah. I do." Ron, Hermione, Destiny and Alan replied.

Ron then turned to the room at large and asked, "Has anyone else got a problem with Harry?"

Everyone shook their heads and Harry stomped up stairs followed by Ron.

"You all right?" Ron asked a furious Harry.

"Fine." Harry replied without turning to face Ron.

"Seamus was bang out of order, mate. But he'll come through, you'll see." Ron continued.

"I said, I'm fine, Ron. Just please leave." Harry replied. Ron sighed shook his head and went back down to the common room.

Five minutes later Harry heard someone clear their throat.

"Go away Ron." He replied without looking at the person.

"Um I'm not Ron," Alan replied.

Harry looked over his shoulder, "oh, hi Alan is something wrong?"

"No it's just…Harry don't push people away."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Harry spat starting to get angry again.

Alan sighed, "What I mean is…" He faltered and started again, "You remember when I told everyone about me and my story during summer and I spoke about my mum being…dead."

Harry nodded and Alan continued, "Well after she died my family start to fall apart at the seams and…I guess what I'm trying to say is if you push people away they get tired of trying to come back. That's when you lose them and that's when you realise you were wrong."

Alan started to walk back down stairs until Harry yelled after him, "Thanks! And if you don't mind me asking who did you lose?"

Alan gave Harry a small sad smile and replied, "My family and myself." He replied and then walked back downstairs to the common room.
