Oh, I decided to change the storyline a little. Jake never died. :)
Sam was in deep thought as she followed her mother out of the restroom and back into the bright Florida sun. The two women had time to kill as they waited for the others to finish the ride. They headed in towards the shops yet again to avoid the heat and bright sun rays.
"Your happy right?" asked Alexis in a whisper towards Sam as she looked down at her with concern. She had not spoken since emerging from the bathroom stall with the test in her hand. She hadn't said a word as she handed over the positive test to her mother to see. Alexis could only assume her daughter was in shock over the recent news.
Sam's brown eyes focused on her mother and smiled. "I'm happy," she stated. "Just a little taken back that's all. I wasn't suppose to have kids remember..." Her voice trailed off as she once again got lost in her thoughts. She was thinking about the time when she had caved to have a child of her own after her daughter had died. How she had wanted to have a baby more then ever. But over the years she had let the idea fade to an impossible dream that would never come true. Until, a few months ago however, when Dr. Lee had mentioned to her about a new reconstructive surgery to fix the scaring on her uterus. After much consideration and thought, she had gone through with it. Her and Jason had never talked about having a child since getting back together. But ever since March, when Jake had almost been killed in the hit and run accident.
Jason had changed his mind. He had wanted to get to know his son and have a relationship with him. He was now seeing Jake weekly and expressed the interest in starting a family with Sam.
So she had the surgery but they hadn't been trying really for a baby or anything. They had just done it for the future when they really wanted to start having a family. When they were ready. Jason was still getting use to being a father to Jake and Sam was enjoying her life as a P.I.
"But, now you can," spoke Alexis reminding her.
"I know," whispered Sam. The surgery hadn't been any guarantee that she would be able to get pregnant or carry a baby to term.
"Then what's wrong Sam?" asked Alexis towards her daughter as they stood in front of the display of plush in the shop. "You don't seem happy about the news." There was a sadness in Sam's eyes noted the older woman.
"I am," stated Sam again in a quiet voice, "I just don't know how Jason will react."
"Didn't he agree for you have the surgery? Didn't he say he wanted to have a family with you? "asked Alexis in confusion as she remembered Sam telling her about the night Jake had been hit. How It had rocked to him to his core and made him rethink his choices he had made in relation to his son.
"Yes he did...it's just we weren't exactly trying...you know," spoke Sam, "but we weren't not trying," She hadn't been on birth control in ages and since getting back together with Jason, they hadn't really used any sort of protection.
"I am sure Jason will be happy with the news," spoke Alexis, thinking of the best of her future son-in-law. Jason wasn't her favourite person on earth and hated what he did for a living. But she did know that he loved her daughter and wanted to start a life with her.
Sam just smiled a sad smile at her mom before turning her attention onto the display in front of them. She didn't want to think about how Jason would take the news of the baby. She had no intentions of telling him anytime soon. She would wait until after the wedding, when everything had settle down and it was just the two of them in Hawaii on their honeymoon.
Alexis continued to look at her daughter but did not push the issue further. She knew that Sam was in shock and needed her space.
"How was the ride?" asked Alexis towards Molly and Kristina as they approached. After exploring the shops and buying a few things; Alexis had bought each of them Mickey Mouse Ears with their names on them. She had yet to told Sam of this purchase though. Sam had also bought something. She had bought both of her sisters something like she had told Kristina she had that morning.
"It was good!" cried both Molly and Kristina in union towards their mother.
"You, guys are soaked," commented Sam as she took in her sisters outfits and hair. They were both dripping wet as they stood in front of her. Her eyes then shifted towards Jason, who had just appeared. His black shirt was clinging to torso, leaving nothing to the imagination as it showed every muscle of his body. His hair was plastered to his forehead.
The ride had been wetter then he had been expecting it to be. He didn't look amused as he met her gaze.
She gave him a small smile. She knew this wasn't what he had planned on doing on vacation. But she was touched he was doing all this...bonding with her family...going on rides with her little sisters. She knew he was trying for her. She then reached out and took his hand into hers and gave it a squeeze. Standing up on her toes, she kissed him tenderly on the mouth. "Thank you," she whispered to him.
"Your welcome," he whispered back as he reached out for her hands, attempting to bring her into a hug. A look of mischief played on his face.
"Don't Jason! You are soaking wet!" she squealed as she tried to pull away from his embrace. A smile was plastered on her face as she locked eyes with him.
"Come here," he whispered, mischief flashing through his eyes as he took both of her hands and pulled her once again towards him.
"Awwwhh," cooed both Kristina and Molly at the same time as they watched as Sam surrendered herself to her fiancé, allowing Jason to wrap his wet body around hers.
"Come on you two, leave your sister alone," spoke Alexis as she wrapped her arms around her two youngest daughters. "Who feels like some ice-cream?" she asked towards the two teens. The three of them then began to walk away towards an ice-cream cart near by.
Sam watched as her mother and sisters walked away. She knew what Alexis was doing. She was giving her some space so that she could tell Jason about the good news. However, she still wasn't ready.
Tearing her eyes away from her sisters, she turned to look back up at Jason and smiled. She was happy just like this for now. Just the two of them.
"Now, I know it's going to seem cheesy and lame. But just humour your mother would you?" spoke Alexis as she handed out the ears she had bought.
They had just arrived back at The Magic Kingdom after spending most of the morning and early afternoon at the Animal Kingdom. There was still a lot more that they needed to see at the park, that they didn't see the other day.
Kristina couldn't help but roll her eyes as she looked down at the black mouse ears in her hands. There was no way she was going to be seen walking around with that on her head. Even if everyone else in the park seemed to have some sort of Disney memorabilia on. She didn't want any part of it.
"You even put on names on them?!" spoke Sam in disbelief as she looked on at her mother. This seemed so unlike Alexis to do. She had defiantly been hit over the head with the Disney stick though Sam to herself as she continued to look on at her mother in shock.
"I thought it would be cute," shrugged Alexis towards Sam.
"I love it!" cried Molly, looking up at her mother with a smile. She loved the idea of everyone wearing the Mickey Mouse Ears with their names on it. Molly then proudly put the hat on her head.
"Thank you Molly," Alexis smiled at her youngest daughter. At least one of them supported her idea. "Look, you don't have to wear them all day, I'm just asking for one picture in front of the castle with them on. Then you can take them off."
Everyone murmured an okay at this as they placed the ears on their heads and began to move further into the park and towards the castle.
"Here," spoke Jason, gesturing to the camera, "I will take the picture."
"Oh, no," stated Alexis shaking her head at her soon to be son-in-law. "You are going to be in the picture too."
Jason didn't look too happy to hear this. He didn't mind going on rides or taking photos for that matter. But this was were he drew the line. He didn't wear mouse ears. He just shook his head at Alexis. "I'm not wearing the hat," he stated.
Alexis locked eyes with Jason at this. This was the first time he was being vocal about anything. She was a little surprise that he was digging in his heels now. He had been so good so far with everything that had come up.
Noticing the tension between her mother and fiance, Sam moved so that she was standing in between them. "Look, please don't fight," she explained looking from Alexis to Jason and back. "I know the hats are important thing to you mom but if Jason doesn't want to wear one, he shouldn't have too!" She knew that they hadn't been really fighting before she intervened but she knew a fight was close to brewing.
"I didn't say anything about him having to wear it," spoke Alexis, looking over at Sam. She knew Sam was stressed out as it was and wasn't feeling well. She knew she had said that her daughters had to wear the hat. But Jason wasn't her child. She couldn't force him to do anything he didn't want to do.
Sam looked over at her mother before shifting her eyes over to Jason. His face had soften slightly at his blue eyes locked with hers. He didn't want her to have to decide between her mother or him. But he didn't want to give up who he was completely though. "I'm not wearing the hat," he stated again.
"Okay," spoke Sam taking a step towards him. "You don't have to." Jason couldn't really read her face but he could see there was stress in her eyes. Something was bothering her and he assumed it wasn't about the ears. However, before he could ask her. She had turned her attention once again over to her mother. "Jase is not wearing the hat, okay mom."
Alexis looked on at her daughter before nodding her head. That was fine with her. Alexis then gestured for all three of her daughters to gather around the front of the were all silent for a moment as they all gathered in front of the castle. Jason took a few photos of the Davis Girls with their ears on their heads before asking one of the Disney employees who had just walked on by if he could take a photo.
Jason then did something that surprised them all, he put the ears on. He didn't do it for Alexis or for anyone else but Sam. He just wanted to see that smile on her face.
"Aww Jason!" cried out Molly as he smiled at the older man, "You look so cute!"
"Thanks Molly," replied Jason to the teen as he made his way over to where all of them stood.
"Thank you," whispered Sam as she smiled up at him. "Molly's right you know. You do make a cute mouse!"
Jason just rolled his eyes at this as he wrapped an arm around her waist. "Come on, let's just get this thing over with." He then leaned down and kissed the top of her head before they all turned their attention to the camera and smiled.
Okay, I know it was short but more will be coming soon! Thanks for reading and leave a review as what you would like to happen next! :)
