I: Thank you for letting me interview you Mr. Kurt

K: Hmph, I have nothing but time now. Nobody needs Pokéballs nowadays.

I: Some would argue that making them by hand using Apricots was outdated when they were still in use and yet you still made them.

K: It's a labor of love, if it weren't for me those rich companies like those men in Hoen … what was their name…

I: Devon Corporation.

K: That's right, those youngsters wouldn't have made all those new Pokéballs.

I: As I recall you are highly quoted as the most prominent authority on Pokéballs. The scientists have it on their patents that studying your handmade products allowed for a great breakthrough in developing new Pokéballs.

K: They just kept on insisting on me making some for 'em. Had to let them watch me make a Pokéball from an Apricot from scratch. Gotta give it to them though, didn't think those youngsters would have had the patience to sit through the whole thing.

I: As interesting as this subject is I had another question for you. I've tracked down Ash Ketchum and one of his first stops was here.

K: Ah yes, a pity that it came down to this…the boy was promising. I personally made him a Fast Ball and a Lure Ball.

I: May I be blunt and ask what he came for?

K: He wanted to know the history of Pokéballs. Came to the right guy if you ask me.

I: I see, there isn't much on the subject in articles and history books.

K: Ha! History books! They aren't worth squat!

I: I'll keep that in mind. So you talked with him?

K: I certainly did. Told them how not many know but before we had Pokéballs humans and Pokémon would bond differently. Old stories say that we talked as equals and formed partnerships but as time went on we started losing our ability to bond that way with our friends. One man wanted to preserve the bond somehow.

I: He thus invented the first Pokéball? Seems a little forceful as a solution.

K: Yeah it was but Arceus came to him. It was a time when Arceus still came over now and then. He reprimanded the man but was moved by his earnest wish. He blessed him and his creation so that those who were caught by his creations would form an immediate bond with their catcher. Dunno what people call this effect these days but stories call it Arceus's Covenant.

I: And it applied to modern Pokeballs too?

K: They wouldn't work otherwise. They tried, let me tell you but when making them modern Pokéballs they all feature a small design inside somewhere. Not many notice it but it's Arceus's Insignia. Scratch it off and Pokémon won't get sucked in or even deign to let themselves be captured.

I: I hear though that whilst the Pokémon comes to trust quite quickly after capture that the bond is not a two-way road.

K: Not really a design flaw, I'd say it's just the heart of humans that has closed off. We couldn't bond the same anymore. Some trainers like Ash still had it but most had it really hard and others wouldn't bond at all.

I: I see, what did Ash Ketchum think of that?

K: (Pause) He agreed with me.

Classified Indigo Plateau Documents: The Kanto/Johto Wars

Introduction

As a historian I cannot leave the events that transpired during those years. It was a short war but after the events transpired the League has decided to cover up the war. The next generations will never know of what occurred but I feel that we should not forget. Even if all the ones who experienced the war will never tell a soul of what happened at least this record will remain…

Where to start? Perhaps at the time it was a small accident but it began when the Champion of Johto suddenly left his seat without warning. At the time nobody questioned it, he was prone to going off with little warning to train and inspect the Gym Leaders. All to maintain a high level of trainers in his Region. The Johto Government did not complain as his wandering had led the average trainer level to be quite high. It became a problem when nobody knew where he was a month later.

The Johto Government sent search parties, little did they know that they were already one month too late. Far too late to prevent the ensuing war

Hello everyone, I'd like to apologize to everyone that truly cared and liked my story for falling off the face of this website for three years. Many things happened in my life at the time and I never bothered to get back to writing. The reason I picked up writing this story again is due to a user who sent me a Private message. His message reminded me of all the times my favorite stories got DC'd without a warning, always wandering what could have happened next. I felt that if at least one person wished for this story to continue that I should finish what I started. So thank you Temporal King!

Arcs may get shorter though but I will try to update once every week or two. Either way welcome to Arc 2: Johto Region
