Original Episode: Courage Meets Bigfoot

Episode 03a-Bigfoot, Who Goes by Theodore Most Days

Scrunching my eyes, I slowly opened them only to sit up in confusion. I wasn't at the Bagge's farm nor did it look like I was anywhere that could be part of the cartoon show.

I also was not anywhere that could be from my world so the thought of finally getting out of this nightmare was gone.

No, I was in what could be described as a void. Darkness surrounded me from all sides; the only bright thing around here was the pale walkway that I was currently sat on.

Standing up, I brushed off my skirt before looking around.

Wait...skirt?

Looking down, it was then that I noticed I was dressed in something different from the usual Courage outfit that witch made me wear.

I was in a long brown sleeved turtle-neck with a black skirt, tights and sandals. It looked nice but it defiantly didn't suit my male self unless...

Cautiously patting my chest, I was overjoyed to see my female attributes back. Grabbing a piece of my hair and pulling it in front of my eyes, I noticed my short brown hair was back over the pink colour I had somewhat gotten used to.

I was back to normal...my girl self, the real me. A smile curled onto my face as I let the joy settle through me. Was Luna finally ending this? Did she come to her senses that forcing people into her little game was ridiculous?

It was then that I finally let the situation settle in. While I was happy that I was back to my normal self, I still had no idea where I was. Standing around was doing nothing, so I decided to follow the path as that was the only route available to me.

Unless I decided to jump off the path into total darkness but I wasn't that reckless...most of the time.

The only sound I heard was the clacking of my shoes against the ground. It was unsettling to say the least; nothing seemed to stick out.

I was starting to think that this path would keep leading me to nowhere when I happened to notice that I was approaching a door.

There was a door, sticking out of the darkness...When did that get there?

Against my better judgement, I hurried over to it and cautiously placed my hand on the knob. This door could either lead me somewhere good or bad, but I didn't have a choice unless I wanted to stay out here.

Taking a deep breath, I turned the knob and slowly pushed open the door. Taking a peek to the new area, I was greeted with what appeared to be a dark room with a single light-bulb lighting up the middle of the room.

However I could not see anything else in there.

But...it was something new. So I walked into the room, hearing the slam of the door shutting behind me. Although I didn't check myself, I just had a feeling that I could not exit out of the room through that door anymore.

Slowly I approached the centre, looking around to make sure nothing popped out to startle me.

Eventually I arrived in the centre and stood there, not sure what to do next. Scratching my head, I looked around unsurely before noticing that the centre's light seemed to be...flickering?

Looking up, I saw what was causing it when I noticed the light-bulb flashing.

"Oh no no no, please don't do this...this place is already freaky without the lights going out!" I yelled, panicking as the light bulb gave a few more flashes before stopping and going out, casting me in darkness.

And then it came back on as quickly as it went off.

Blinking to adjust to the light again, it came to my attention that the whole room was now lit and slightly different.

Surrounding me were seven doors, each looking like the type of doors you would find in prison...cell doors. All of them appeared to be rusted but some of the original colour, silver/grey, seemed to stick out a little over the murky rust. The darkened window near the top of the door served as a lullaby into the cell although it was small and dark.

Gulping, I took a deep breath before approaching one of the doors, again the only sound I heard were my shoes and my heavy breathing.

Stopping in front of the door, I cautiously looked through the small window expecting to see nothing...as was usual for this strange place.

But there was something in the cell...more like someone.

Sitting in the back of the cell, slumped against the wall was clearly someone I knew well. The person, a male, had his long black hair tangled in a mess-a lot messier then usual-and lanky as if he hadn't gotten the chance to have a shower.

He was dressed in a long sleeved shirt, the middle part being black while the sleeves were white. He also had on scruffy jeans that dirt on them-probably from the cell as it appeared to be dirty though it was hard to make out with how dark the cell was-and brown boots.

I knew this person very well and it took me a moment to recover myself as the reality set in. It was my older brother, Draeke, who was in the cell.

Gasping, I grabbed the handle and tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. Pulling and pushing the door did nothing so I tried another route.

"Draeke! Draeke! Wake up dammit! This is no time to be napping you big lug!"

However he didn't even twitch as I called out to him. I was going to try again when suddenly I noticed something small appearing from the shadows in the cell room, approaching the door.

I couldn't make out what it was as it stopped near the door. Because it was small, I could hear it struggling to climb up but it must have achieved it because I noticed it now very close to the window although I still could not make out its features.

"It's not time yet, we'll meet soon, stupid mutt." A voice whispered, presumably from the creature, before my view of my brother was gone, a slider shutting over the window.

Scowling, I banged against the door.

"Let me in! Give back Draeke! I may dislike him but I'm not ready to hand him over to some mysterious midget creature without the right deal!"

However in the end it was useless, not a sound came from beyond the door. Backing away, I thought of maybe trying to find something in the room that could help me but upon glancing at the door where my brother was I happened to come across a shocking sight.

The door...it was gone! As if it was never there...

I felt tears sting in my eyes. I had found my brother...but now I've lost him...was this some stupid joke? Sniffing, I wiped my eyes before staring at the other doors.

There were seven doors, now six, and one contained my brother...perhaps all seven contained each one of my friends?

Testing my theory, I headed to the next door and glanced in through the window-which seemed to be the same for all the doors. Upon glancing inside, I saw that my theory was proven true as I could see the slumped form of Terra.

Her long wavy brown hair was also in a mess and lanky, just like Draeke's, and her pale skin was even more pale than usual. She was dressed in a simple blue top with a cardigan and skirt. The only thing that seemed to have not been touched was her glasses, which were as shiny as ever.

The door was locked, like Draeke's door was, so I simply tried to calling out to her, hoping that she would respond.

She didn't but something else did.

It was another unusual being, but this one was taller and had a more feminine appearance. A shark-like grin curled onto the being's face.

"I can't wait till we meet...you look delicious."

And then Terra was blocked from my view.

Stepping away, I decided to sort out what I knew as I could already see that the door was gone, like Draeke's.

So...I was right, all my friends were behind the doors and judging by how Terra and Draeke were, probably unconscious or in some deep sleep. Although they were probably not in a clean healthy state, they didn't appear to be psychically harmed which was a relief.

They certainly weren't alone in the rooms. It seemed some type of creature took residence in there with them...but it didn't look they were harming them, were they perhaps guards?

Whatever they were I had a sense of déjà vu, like I've seen them before but unless they came out into the light there was no way I could identify them.

Plus they didn't want me talking to anyone...not yet at least, judging from their cryptic messages.

Although I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to get anyone out the rooms, I at least wanted to check on them...just to make sure they were safe if anything.

The next door I went up to happened to contain Kyle and I was happy to see that he was okay.

His blonde hair was not in a ponytail anymore and just flared out but was still as lanky as the others. His glasses were not on his face, having fallen onto his lap and seemed to have a crack in them. Dressed in smart dark purple shirt with dress pants and shoes, he looked the same as ever.

I desperately just wanted to open the door and cling to him, have him tell me that everything would be fine but sadly that wasn't going to happen anytime soon.

Like the other two doors, I was expecting the creature to be unidentifiable when they came to separate my view of Kyle from me but what I got in return was not something I expected.

Because coming over to block my view was none other than the Cajun Fox and not the form my cousin took but the actual Cajun Fox in all his fox glory.

"Little doggy, you shouldn't be snoopin around here, you may get more then you chew for," he said with a grin, his paw reaching up to the bar.

"W-what? What are you doing here, Cajun Fox?" I demanded, a little miffed he referred to me with my cousin's nickname.

Now that I think about it, so did that Le Quack person...

"Heh, now that would spoil the fun if I told ya, little doggy. Now why don't you run along now, I'll take real good care of your cousin~!"

Before I could demand more answers, he slammed the slider closed. Growling in anger, I gripped my head in frustration.

Okay then...it weren't mysterious creatures in my friends' cells. Instead it was characters from Courage...and if Cajun Fox was in Kyle's cell, then maybe the characters in the other cells are the ones that Luna turned the others into.

"Right then, think...in my brother's cell, it was a small creature with weird arms...darn, and I haven't run into anything that small, heck the Space Chicken was taller! Okay, what about Terra's cell? It was defiantly a female, or someone with a feminine like appearance! And it was average size like a human...no other attributes stood out so it may not be an animal type person..."

There were only four doors left...if what I remember is correct about who Luna stole then the remaining four should be Ren, that asshole, Grey, Calvin, though I'm surprised he was caught, and Arthur...

I've yet to see Katz, Computer or Le Quack in the cells so either one of them was actually in Terra's cell, keeping themselves hidden or three of my remaining friends are actually with those three.

Standing around was doing nothing so I approached the next cell which contained Ren. His brown hair, although frizzy now, was still in a ponytail. His blue button-up shirt and dark slacks were crumbled while the bottom of his combat boots was dusty. His black scarf, which he practically wore everywhere, was hanging barely around his neck.

I didn't get the chance to actually talk to him before the slider was slammed closed over the window.

...Hmm, the Courage character didn't want me seeing them. Well that's not helpful.

Huffing I stomped to one of the remaining three doors. I hope the next one would be nice...

Though the majority of my friends seem to end up as the antagonists, except whoever ended up as the Computer-I'm pretty sure there might be one where the Computer becomes an antagonist in one of the episodes...

Stopping in front of the door, I took note that Grey was in the room. He seemed cosy in there, in some odd way. His black hoodie with white patterns on it and trackie-bottoms were in a state while his trainers were hard to indentify the original colour. His greyish-blue hair was also in a mess, making his hidden freckles be in plain view.

Idly glancing around the cell, I shuddered when I noticed big glowing eyes staring back at me.

I slowly stepped away as the creepy face came closer before it seemed to raise its finger and...shushed me.

The slider slowly closed after that, leaving me feeling panicked.

Trying to catch my breath, I turned my attention to the last two doors. I certainly had no idea whom that being was in Grey's room so that left two of the three antagonists in the final rooms.

Calvin and Arthur's rooms.

Approaching the nearest door, I saw Calvin in there but nothing else. His short brown hair was surprisingly neat compared to everyone else's state. He was dressed in a red t-shirt with a short sleeved, open, white jacket with trousers and trainers. Although he was in a slightly better state then the others overall, he seemed more...stressed in his condition.

Carelessly, I raised my hand and stuck it through the window. If I was lucky; perhaps I could reach the door handle inside the cell and open it from there.

And then something grabbed my hand.

Screeching, I attempted to yank my hand back but whatever grabbed me was keeping a firm grip.

"Be careful..."

And then it let me go, causing me to fall onto the ground as the slider closed over the window. Again I had to wait for my breathing to be controlled.

I was not expecting that...

Finally I calmed down enough to clear my head and I turned my attention the final door. Arthur was behind there...

Slowly approaching the door, I counted silently in my head before glancing through the window. There he was, like the others, slumped over. I bit my lip, taking in his features.

His usual soft red/ginger hair looked a little dry from not having been taken care of and his skin had gotten even paler, like Terra's, which made his freckles stand out even more.

Those cute freckles...

He was dressed in a stripped long sleeved top, with the sleeves being rolled up to his elbows. His dark slacks were muddy while his dress shoes were beyond looking new as they had been.

I wonder who he ended up taking the place of.

Although it would be nice if he was Computer, being close to me, I doubt I would get that lucky.

So busy with my thoughts, I didn't notice who the Courage character was until they were right in front of the window. However, when I did take notice it came to my attention that I could not identify the character which sent me into a loop.

I thought it would have been Le Quack, Katz or Computer but yet not a feature stood out. Was I wrong?

Not sure what to do, I watched as the character came to a stop, the door being the only thing that separated us. It shook its head at me in what I presumed was disappointment.

"Still not identifiable to you? Well then, stupid dogs like you do take a while to except things."

With a quick motion of their hand, the slider slid over the window and my last view of Arthur was taken away.

I just stood there in front of the door, trying not to do anything that may cause the door to disappear like the others. Unfortunately my eyes began to water after a while and I was forced to blink, the door having vanished by the time I re-opened my eyes. Stumbling away back to the middle, I stood there till my knees gave way and I crashed onto the floor. They were gone again...all gone.

And the fact that the Courage characters were here meant Luna must have something to do with it.

But why?

Tears trailing down my cheek, I curled into myself.

"I want to go home. I want to see my mother doing loony stuff. I want to see father dictating over the pre-school park. I want to go back to my neat room and visit the bookstore! I want to eat Kyle's cooking! I want to get into stupid fights with Draeke and Ren! I want to spray paint the walls with Grey and get into weird debates with Calvin! I want to see Terra and her brother, doing their classic sibling rivalry gags...I want to see Arthur smile..."

And then I was sobbing, the tears blocking my vision as I wailed to myself in the lonely big room. I was alone. Yes I may be back to normal somewhat but I didn't want to be in some void with no exit.

I'd rather put up with the Courage world then be alone...at least then I had Muriel, Computer and somewhat Eustace.

It was then that I felt a small hand rubbing my back gently. Now that I think about it, it felt more like a paw...

Slowly lifting my head, my green eyes connected with simple brown. Looking at me with a gentle yet sad expression was none other than the titular character of the cartoon, Courage the Cowardly Dog.

I snorted at the absurdity before finally speaking, though my voice came out croaked.

"I must look like the wimp to you, don't I?"

He smiled, "no, I think it's alright to cry sometimes. Let it all out."

To think I was getting comforted by the sometimes coward of the series. But I knew the truth although he was scared most of the time, he would always go out of his way to save his owners as that was the type of dog he was.

He wasn't a coward. He was brave.

Wiping away my eyes, I fully turned my attention to the pink dog. Curling out of my position, I spread my legs out and let out a sigh before asking the dog something that suddenly came to me.

"Why are you here? I mean this doesn't look like the place you'd hang out and to be honest...you're not even real..."

"Not real? I'm here aren't I? I've been here for a while; it's all I could do after all."

Confused, I enquired more. "All you could do? What do you mean by that?"

Courage cocked his head, "To help you. I've been watching over you, it's the least I could do while you looked after Muriel...and the farmer. Besides I know how hard it can be, I've lived it."

Upon hearing that, a fact just popped into my head and then it made sense.

"Lived it...you're the Courage after the series," I realised.

He nodded in return while I sat in stunned silence.

He's lived all this already and now by the sounds of it he's forced to watch it happen all over again. How awful it must be, to see the ones you love in danger but not being able to do anything about it. I would hate that.

But if he could see everything, presumably from my point of view, did that mean he saw everything I did? The mocking and sadness I had for my friends' positions? My negative thoughts about the farmers he loves so much? The way I sorted out situations.

Guilt swarmed me. I'm a horrible person. So busy feeling sorry for myself, I haven't even tried to help my friends...

"I'm sorry," I whispered but I felt as if that wasn't even enough to apologize.

Courage just grinned at me.

"It's alright, I don't blame you at all. I don't blame any of you, so please don't blame Luna either."

I snapped my head up at that. Not blame Luna? But she took him away from those he loved and placed him in this...void. She trapped my friends here as well!

But noticing the sad affection, I tried to ebb away my anger and see why he didn't blame her.

"I love the show, but it was just today I found out that it had ended ten years ago."

Luna loved the show, I could see in the fond way she spoke of it. It wasn't the obsessed type either; it was general love for the show...a kid's love, something that would be rare to find in Luna's age group.

Perhaps she found it a good way to get away, I imagine that because of what she is she didn't get many friends and even if she did, I wonder how many of them knew she was a witch?

The fond way Courage spoke of her too in that one sentence made me realise something.

Luna wasn't doing this for the heck of it, she was doing this because she wanted to keep the show...alive, and she wanted to continue to cherish it.

I sighed, clutching my head. Its sweet she wants to continue embracing the cartoon but forcing us to play as the characters was just ridiculous. At this rate it was just like watching the cartoon with some of the characters looking different.

Kind of like a bad fan fiction really...

If only she could see that she only had to cherish the cartoon as it was and leave it at that.

Well thinking about it was doing nothing.

I decided to change the topic instead as I was still curious about what was currently going on.

"So, where am I exactly?"

"Oh, this is one of the small spaces Luna created so that we could watch you guys and intervene if we had too."

Although I wanted to know what he meant by intervening, something else was bothering me.

"'We'? You don't mean..."

He nodded his head, sighing a little. "Yep, the others who your friends have 'replaced' are in the same position as me. They're not allowed to attack the person they're in the cell with but they can do anything else..."

So that's why nobody was harmed.

"Why are they in cells?"

"Well the truth is that this space is connected to many others."

At my confused look, he tried to explain it more.

"Well to you they look like they're in cells right? And that you can't open the doors at all. Well actually to them, you appear to be in the cell while they are not, if you get my gist."

"Huh I see," I sighed before a yawn passed my lips. Blushing in embarrassment, I quickly covered my mouth.

Courage himself looked at me with an unknown emotion before grinning.

"I guess that's a sign you have to leave now, sorry we couldn't chat anymore. Take care of Muriel, okay?"

Time to leave now? What does he mean by that?

While I thought that, more yawns escaped me until it was hard to actually keep my eyes open. The last thing I saw was Courage waving sadly.

He must miss Muriel.

Bolting up, I tried to keep my breathing under control as I glanced around. Double bed with blue covers, weird wallpaper and miscellaneous furniture...I was in Muriel and Eustace's room.

Glancing down, I recognized the familiar pink clothing and out of the corner of my eye I could see pink hair flaying out.

I was back at Courage's house...in this male form of Courage body. I guess that void must have been some alternate plain of existence...it wasn't a dream, I didn't have any proof but I just knew.

Sighing, I leaned back on the bed stared at the ceiling.

So I was still stuck in the cartoon but now I knew some new things. Like the fact that Courage could see what I was doing and intervene if needs be.

Whatever that means.

Also my friends were stuck with their Courage character counterparts and although Courage did say that they weren't allowed to harm my friends, I still couldn't help but feel worried.

I needed to get this Courage thing over so that we can leave.

If we can leave.

Sitting back up, I placed my chin in my hands in thought. I wonder which episode I'm in. The last one had Le Quack in and that was episode two I believe...so I'm on episode three, but I can barely remember what happened in the third episode.

Glancing out the nearby window, I happened to notice it was turning dark. So this was a night episode maybe?

Shaking my head, I crawled off the bed and took a moment to stretch. Sitting around wasn't going to answer my question.

A thought hit me on how I can find out which episode it was. Reaching my hand up, I felt around my dog ears-wow, that's weird to say as my normal ears had been replaced-until I got to the inside and felt for the metal device Adrian had given me.

Upon feeling the cold metal, I tapped it in hopes of making a loud sound on the other end and then called out.

"Hey, are you there? Hey brat!" However I only got silence on the other side.

Furrowing my bro, I tried a number of ways to grab his attention but Adrian did not reply at all.

It was then I remember yesterday, well it felt like yesterday to me but it was really just last episode, when Luna appeared to me. She said something about not letting Adrian contact me, but that was last episode. Is she also applying it to this episode too? But why hasn't she contacted me to tell me that?

Grumbling, I let my eyes wonder around one more time before I decided to leave the room. It was a good thing I did because I suddenly noticed the note on the bed, right where I was laying before.

Grabbing the note, greedy for new information, I unfolded it and began reading.

Hey,

You're probably wondering why I haven't contacted you...well I'm ordering pizza so I need to make sure I'm here to get it :3

I also decided not to tell you anything about the episode you're in and I've also disconnected your friend for a while. I doubt you'll need help for this one and I think I should let you 'roam free' so to speak. Courage will be there to help if you desperately need it but I really doubt it.

Now, go have pie!

Scowling, I crunched the note up and chucked it, watching in disbelief as it vanished into smoke. Really? She ditched me for pizza?!

But what did she mean by letting me roam free? Oh this was just getting annoying, there were more questions than answers. How the heck was I supposed to know what to do, it's been years since the show was on!

'Go have pie'? Perhaps that was a hint to head to the kitchen. Well there was only one way to find out and that was to go to the kitchen.

Heading down the old stairs, I took note that Muriel and Eustace were sat in their chairs. By now it had fully turned dark so the old lamp near Eustace's chair was turned on. What was slightly different was that Muriel's rocking chair was pushed up close to Eustace's chair, with both seniors staring at the TV as it played an old horror film.

I presumed it was an horror film due to the loud female screaming, but then again it could have been two other things-a chick flick where the girl broke a nail or...well let's not mention that one.

They didn't show any signs of noticing me as I finally landed in the living room and headed to the kitchen. Huh, this episode was starting off alright; I guess it being night and those two watching something scary was supposed to set a creepy atmosphere.

Well their faces looked creepy from the TV light reflected on them.

Entering the kitchen, I glanced around the small room in little interest. The last time I had been in here was when dealing with Le Quack and the embarrassing pants issue. That must have been to replace the fur gag when Courage loses his fur on occasions. Does that mean I'm going to lose my clothes instead? Because that is going to be embarrassing.

My mum wouldn't like this kitchen; she likes big ones that let her roam around. Same could be applied to Kyle. But this kitchen to me was nice, easy to reach items and cosy as well.

It was then that my stomach rumbled. I haven't eaten in a while, guess I didn't get to eat this morning, having no memory of the event.

I opened the cabinets but it seemed that nothing was there as a snack, just baking ingredients.

Pfft, as if I knew how to cook.

Shaking my head, I headed to the fridge and to my luck there was something I could eat in there.

Pie.

I've only eaten apple pie before but it was rare when I had it and I really only considered it as dessert after dinner. Pushing the slice of pie out of the way, I was hoping that there would be something else to eat but there was really nothing.

Sighing in disappointment, I reluctantly grabbed the pie and then noticed the milk carton in the fridge door compartment.

"Wow, that's big. Didn't know they made cartons in that size. Then again this pie slice is huge too, what is it with cartoons making items too big then necessary?" I sighed out, grabbing the milk as well.

I needed something to wash the pie taste out after all I doubted this would be apple pie.

And then it dawned on me. Luna said to get some pie, I have pie. Darn that witch is making me eat what Courage originally ate!

I was tempted to not eat it but this show was random. For all I know the next episode could send me somewhere completely different then where I am now, unable to eat until we arrived somewhere that would let me.

I was stuck with the pie...

However old habits die hard and I ended up drinking from the carton of milk instead of getting myself a glass. I doubt Eustace or Muriel will know anyway.

I was about to take a bite of the pie when suddenly I heard rustled noises...coming out from outside.

I rolled my eyes in response. "Oh hello monster of the episode, come to scare an old couple in the middle of nowhere? Well good for you, you've finally come to the low point of your life. Now come back when I'm not hungry."

Ignoring the urge to actually check out what I would have to deal with, I quickly searched in a nearby draw for a fork before I dug into the pie expecting to taste something awful-

Oh my God this was delicious! It's like heaven in pie form!

However my happy eating was ruined when a loud roar sounded out, surprising me and making me almost trip over myself.

Well sorry for not paying attention to you monster!

Huffing, at least I was full from eating even though there was still enough pie to continue eating. I wasn't kidding when I said it was huge. Placing my fork down I debated what to do.

I could either check to see what or who the monster was or tell the Bagge couple. Both had pros and cons. If I went to see the monster, I could identify who or what it was and perhaps if I'm lucky it might be one of my friends. However the monster might maul me if it sees me.

If I told the Bagge family, it may progress the episode but I also know there is no way they'll see the monster as generally the antagonist leaves before it can be seen by the couple. There's also a possibility that the couple might see the monster and meet with an unfortunate incident.

I was tempted to go with option three-go to bed.

"Please...get Muriel..."

Startled, I looked around me widely but saw nobody around. Where did that voice come from? It was kind of familiar...a males voice with a slight melodious ring to it and I'm pretty sure I've heard it recently.

Then it came to me. Courage! It was definitely Courage's voice! However I received no reply from Courage even when I called out to him.

He knows what is going to happen. He's lived it. But even if he has, I bet he just wants Muriel to know something is going through her trash.

I figured it was the trash, still hearing the monster rummaging, because of the distinctive sound garbage cans have when being searched through.

Sighing, I placed my fork in the sink and placed the pie and milk carton back in the fridge. Hopefully I can eat the rest of the pie later if it hasn't been eaten or thrown away first.

I then exited the kitchen and walked over to the couple before grabbing Muriel's arm. I had already figured that it is rare when the couple can actually hear me talk much less figure out what I'm telling them and I really did not want to deal with the whole Courage set up of turning into weird shapes to grab their attention.

So I did the basic thing and grabbed Muriel's arm and started pulling it.

"What's the matter Courage?" She enquired with a confused look while Eustace glared at me, probably angry that I'm interrupting his precious horror film.

"Please get up! There's a monster out there, though you'll probably never see it, and I want it gone because it's interrupting my precious safety time!" I begged, still pulling her arm.

She must have misinterpreted my pouting face for a worried one for she gently patted my head before getting up.

For some reason, when she patted me I felt warmness spread through me. The last time this had happened was during the pilot episode...Courage's feelings, that's what it was. His love for her was strong and he was somehow passing it to me.

Well it would be cool to have Muriel as a grandma but I don't know if I could deal with Eustace as a granddad, he seems like the cheap type for birthdays and Christmas.

We hurried back to the kitchen, the goal being the backdoor, but as we entered the room I noticed it was silent.

Well guess the monster is gone, thanks a lot for making me look like an idiot.

Muriel unlocked the backdoor with the key before opening it; I peeked out from behind her and shuddered.

This place was seriously creepy at night; just endless darkness spread out vastly...reminded me of the void.

The only thing that seemed to light the small area around the backdoor was the porch light to the right of me. From there I could see rubbish spread out on the dirt and nothing else.

I groaned in dismay while Muriel smiled softly.

"Oh it's just the racoons, they must be hungry," she then patted my head one more time before walking back into the house.

"Racoons? Really? Why would there be racoons out in the middle of nowhere? There's nothing to survive on!" I rambled.

Plus the fact some of the garbage had huge teeth marks on them, they would have to be mutated racoons to be able to make those sized marks.

Rolling my eyes, I closed and locked the backdoor once again before turning to see what Muriel was up to. I watched as she slipped on some oven mitts before opening the oven.

Wow I did not notice anything being cooked before! This cartoon either makes stuff happen from nowhere, as usual, or I'm just failing to notice things.

She grabbed a tray out of the oven and immediately a delicious smell hit my nose. It was another pie!

For some reason I have the feeling that I might need to go on a diet...

"This is our lovely dessert for tomorrow," she commented before placing the pie on the window ledge.

"That's nice, I'm glad you can cook at least. But I don't think you should leave the window open, we make get burglars...huh, actually forget that thought, and who would burglar you, besides that Le Quack man."

As usual, my comment was ignored as Muriel wondered off. I turned my attention back to the pie.

"You may not make it tonight dear sweet dessert because I doubt the monster will ignore you. It is such a cliché device."

I was tempted to close the window but decided against it. I want this episode to end quickly, not stall it.

I later found myself back in their room as the couple slept. I knew that I should probably head to bed myself as I won't know the next time I'll get too but after that whole void thing earlier on I just didn't feel tired.

Although when I do decide to go to sleep, I would make sure I head to the attic. I wasn't sleeping in the same bed as the couple, that's for sure, as I would barely fit on the bed. Besides, I felt better sleeping near Computer; it was a better way to keep an eye on my friend.

Although I haven't checked on him I'm sure he's fine...it's not like he can go anywhere...I think.

Besides, I have the aching feeling that the monster was still around. There is no way it would suddenly show up and then just be gone like that. It would show up and I was expected to confront it.

But I won't let fear take a hold of me. I would prevail, there were fifty-two episodes after all and it is mostly Eustace who gets screwed over anyway.

So I sat in the couple's room, to give Courage a clear mind that I was with his family and keeping them safe...somehow. The sound of their heavy breathing and the ticking off the clock was annoying but I would deal with it.

I dealt with Muriel's snoring during the whole Cajun Fox incident.

It was then I heard a loud, growling sound that seemed to surround the whole house. To be honest it kind of creeped me out because I never knew anything that could growl as loud as that. I glanced at the window, which Muriel left open-what is with that woman and leaving her house unprotected?

But I didn't bother looking through it. Okay not to beat around the bush but I really did not want to look out there. Even if I did not see anything, I really did not like how this place looked in the dark.

It was creepy!

But...I had to do something. Given how much attention was given to pie I bet the monster was near the new one Muriel put near the window. So I guess this is the time where I head out to confront the monster.

...It's not too late to head to the attic is it?

As if to answer my question, the growling seemed to get louder. Cautiously I left the room, glancing one more time at the STILL sleeping couple before heading downstairs. It came to my attention that the lamp was still on and I reminded myself to turn it off after I dealt with the problem.

Hopefully.

As I approached the kitchen door, I noticed how I couldn't stop shaking. Okay I may be creeped out but I wasn't scared so this has to be Courage's reaction...I wasn't scared!

Taking a deep breath I entered the kitchen and was relieved not to see any monsters, well at least they haven't broken in yet! But the growling was loud in here, so something had to be out of the ordinary.

I then rolled my eyes at my stupidity because the pie was moving left to right. Okay really? Side to side? Why not take it already?!

"TAKE THE PIE!" I screeched causing whatever was moving it to pause but then it continued its stupid left to right motion.

Seething, I stomped over and grabbed the pie and began pulling it towards me. I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to save the pie for Muriel's sake but this is a cartoon so I doubt this will go well.

Whoever was on the other side pulling the pie was strong but for some reason I could not see their hands on the pie so it was a mystery on how it was pulling it.

It certainly didn't want to let go of it.

"Let go! God you're acting like this is the most sacred item in existence! I admit it tastes nice but are we really having a pie pulling contest?"

As if contemplating my words and coming to a decision, whatever was pulling the pie suddenly let go.

Unfortunately for me because of how hard I was pulling I ended up flinging myself backwards. Now in reality I would have just fallen straight to the floor but because physics half the time doesn't apply to this cartoon I ended up literally flying across the kitchen into the wall.

Pain shot through me as my back collided with the wall but before I could react the pie that I had been pulling splattered onto my face. Humiliation welled through me as the purplish goo and crust dripped down my face.

Raising my hand to wipe some of the jam off of my face it came to my attention that the kitchen had gotten brighter.

And that Muriel was staring at me with a disapproving look.

Before I could say anything she spoke, "it's alright Courage; I'll make another pie tomorrow morning."

"You don't understand! I didn't do this on purpose it was something else," I tried to persuade her but sighed when she didn't show any signs of hearing me.

"Next time use a place," she chided before leaving the kitchen.

I huffed before slowly standing. Screw this I'm going to bed...after I take a bath.

But then realisation downed on me...I needed something to cover my...attribute.

"Uh...I hope there's a black bin bag around here. But when I see that monster...I'll take my sweet gooey revenge."

The next morning after my sleep, I found myself sitting with Eustace. I guess I was curious as to what was on TV, as I doubt cartoon TVs have Sky and the likes.

To my surprise it was the news anchorman who was on TV. I remember him appearing in the opening a lot for Courage, opening the episode with:

'We interrupt this program to bring you COURAGE! The cowardly Dog show...'

So I guess it was a surprise to finally see him show up. The TVs colour was in black and white so it took a while for me to adjust, as I was used to colour on TV. Although I had no idea what his hair colour was I noticed it was short and slicked back while his teeth were crooked. He was dressed in a smart suit while holding a microphone with numbers 99 on it. In the background the words "SPECIAL NOWHERE NEWS" were there.

"This is a special of Nowhere news," he said with the cliché news reporter voice. "There's a Bigfoot in these here parts, he's been terrorising Nowhere. Now we know the cause of all these disasters!"

As he was saying that I noticed how pictures of an Egyptian pyramid, a sinking ship and explosions were shown on screen.

Bigfoot was behind the Titanic sinking? Really? But that's beside the point, so I was dealing with Bigfoot. Well...I think I can remember this episode...but just barely.

I can only remember a giant footprint and that is not helpful in the least. Snorting, I turned my attention back to the TV.

"We found proof that Bigfoot is here!" At this point he pulled out a picture of a giant footprint.

Ah there it is.

Eustace gasped in shock as if he had never seen a footprint before.

"I've heard that a reward is being offered by the Nowhere museum," The news reporter continue, leaning in and smiling crookedly as if it was an inside joke.

Oh jeez I think I can figure where this is going...

"A reward? That's for me!" Eustace exclaimed, rising in his chair before plopping back down. Although I could not see his eyes I had the feeling that he had a greedy look in them.

"Twenty-five dollars and a lifetime membership!" The news anchor said as if it was the best thing you could ever receive.

Twenty-five dollars which could only get you so far and a lifetime membership at the museum...which I had a feeling did not get many visitors.

Just saying is all; we are in the middle of nowhere after all.

I giggled at the idea of whoever would want that crap but then I noticed Eustace stood up with his mouth wide open, a happy expression on his face.

Well I figured out who wanted the crap.

"A lifetime membership! Whoo-hoo!" He then started flailing his arms around and tapping his feet, making weird sounds while I started crawling away from his slowly...

"Oh baby," he cawed out before jumping and bashing his heels together. I then heard the sound of his bones cracking, shaking my head in pity.

Men his age should not be doing that.

"If anyone has any information, any strange feelings lately, call us!" The TV present continued. Jeez how long will this go on?

"A reward! A reward! And a lifetime membership to boot, d'aw baby!" Eustace cackled.

"But be careful," I heard the reporter warn as Muriel walked into the room.

"What's all the excitement?" She questioned while holding a teal tea towel.

I decided to tune out the couple as I had pretty much guessed what was going on. The monster outside yesterday was more than likely Bigfoot who was probably hungry but had to be creepy while doing it.

Eustace is probably going to find traces of Bigfoot and go after him.

This episode is old but I'm pretty sure Bigfoot is one of those rare characters who end up nice. I should give the creature a break but I'm still pretty miffed about the pie incident. I may heal quickly but that was still a blow to my ego.

However that meant the antagonist for this episode...was Eustace. First one where he's the main one too, poor man only wants lifetime membership and money...now that I think about it, does Eustace even have a job or is this couple retired and living off pension? It's more than likely the latter.

With that thought in mind, I had no idea what to do next. I possibly could go and check for footprints, which I know there will be, but that would be a waste as I bet that would only be there for plot purposes of showing that there is a foot.

I heard the sound of ruckus coming from the dining room. Muriel is back in the kitchen, I can tell that much, so it must be Eustace grabbing his items to catch Bigfoot.

I wonder what one like Eustace would use as capturing equipment...Curiosity building, I walked into the dining room to take a peak.

What I saw was Eustace with a clipboard leaning over...a strange assortment of objects.

He had mousetrap with cheese, a fishing pole, a flyswatter and a metal chain with a cuff on the table. Okay I'm pretty sure Bigfoot is not stupid enough to fall for the mouse trap and neither would a mouse. Bigfoot is a not a fish and you would be lucky to hook something as big as Bigfoot with a fishing pole. What's Eustace planning to do with the flyswatter, slap Bigfoot silly? Because I can imagine that going well, sarcasm intended.

And judging by the size of the footprint shown on the TV, that cuff is not going to fit around Bigfoot.

After listing the names of the items and I presumed ticking them off, he cackled. "Hehe, now I'm ready to get me a Bigfoot."

I snorted, alerting him to my presence. "Yes good luck with that and tell me how well it went after he flattens you into pieces, presuming her does...unless it's the gentle Bigfoot, then you'll just look like a freaking jerk."

Although he couldn't understand me, he hissed at my presence. "Get away from me! I'm going to get me a reward!"

The sound of the doorbell interrupted the silence before Eustace stormed off to answer it. Now who would come over here? Curiosity rose up in me again as I followed behind Eustace.

Upon entering the living room and watching Eustace opening the door, I drank in the features of the new person. I presumed it was an old lady though she could pass as an old man too. She was wearing a maroon top with a blue cardigan and a yellow stripped skirt. Over her head was a green scarf-type thing that was hiding her hair while she wore glasses, like Muriel and Eustace, which hid her eyes. In her hands was a small pink purse. The feature that grabbed my attention was the large chin with small hairs sticking out.

Lady stubble.

"We're not buying anything!" Eustace shouted at her making me glare at him. Asshole.

"Please mister! My little boy is lost!" She cried out but is shocked me when a more male-type voice came out of her. Is she really a girl!?

"Have you seen my little boy?" She asked a hopeful expression-I think-on her face.

"I ain't seen no little boys!" Eustace growled in return before slamming the door closed.

It took all my restraint not to kick his ass there and then. The old man wouldn't stand a chance!

"Who was that?" Muriel questioned, again holding her tea towel.

In response Eustace stormed back into the dining room, calling out "Nobody!" while doing so. I watched as he stuffed his junk into a bag before coming back out the room with a smirk on his face.

"I'm going to get me a Bigfoot!"

He then left the house which made me smile in relief. Hopefully he'll get eaten...hopefully.

"Come along Courage, let's have some pie!" Muriel suggested.

Although the pie was nice I just wasn't feeling it. Perhaps the embarrassment was making me wary of having it but I wanted something else to eat. Perhaps if I looked around again, there might be something else.

Sighing, I followed her to the kitchen only to pause.

Bigfoot was in her kitchen. Okay then.

The monster was tall, taller than me that's for sure, with red fur on his body save for his face, hands and the bottom of his feet which were naked and pale pink in colour. He had a greyish beard around his mouth a mismatched eyes-one was white the other was blue.

We stared silently at each other but I swear I could hear Courage in my head screaming. And then to my surprise Bigfoot let out a loud startled roar that caused me to gasp in surprise.

No I was not screaming, why would you think that?

Well Bigfoot continued roaring while I let out manly gasps. It was then, out of nowhere, a watermelon popped into my hand.

Oh sweet, fruit!

But then I noticed worm crawling on it. I HATE BUGS! I chucked the fruit away only to hear a SPLAT!

Frozen, I looked up slowly to see the watermelon dribble on the monster's face. Oh shit.

"...Consider that revenge for yesterday," I let out shakily but Mr Bigfoot did not like that. He grabbed the nearest thing to him, which happened to be a pie, and chucked it towards me.

"No not again!" I screeched, ducking for cover. Again another fruit popped into my hands-a tomato! Was Luna trying to piss the beast off? Because it noticed I had the fruit straight away and glared.

...Oh well when was the last time I had a food fight? A couple of years ago I believe.

"FOOD FIGHT!" I yelled before chucking the tomato at Bigfoot who roared in return and grabbed the table.

Oh shit, I'm having a food fight with Bigfoot and he's bringing a table into this!? NOT FAIR!

But instead of throwing it, he simply placed it on its side and hid behind it. Oh I get it, because I'm using the door as protection, he' probably using the table as his.

He then pulled out a fully cooked turkey, from God knows where and chucked it back at me. I quickly hid behind the door which is when I noticed all the food stocked up behind me.

It all came back to me. The food fight and the weird dance they did. Sure I'll take part in the food fight but if you believe I'll do the dance then you've got another thing coming.

I grabbed the fully cooked chicken I had and a group of bananas and chucked them all at once. However not a single one hit Bigfoot but everything else.

And so a food fight was started, we through everything from cakes to fish though I wondered where all this stuff came from when I could not find a single thing to eat earlier. Idly I noticed that Muriel was sipping tea on a chair in the background but when food fights were started, that did not matter.

At some point I began to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. How many people had food fights with mystical creatures? It was fun! A big smile curled onto my face and I'm pretty sure one was on Bigfoot's face too.

However it was then that the radio was suddenly hit through the ensuing chaos and I watched in mortification as the fruit we had been chucking somehow formed a Hawaiian type look on me as well as Bigfoot. I shook my head as Bigfoot started dancing to it but before I could back away the big lug had the gall to grab my hand and spin me around.

I didn't want to dance, but Bigfoot made me. We kept spinning and twirling and doing weird hand movements and I guess I found a fellow bad dancer in Bigfoot because as my family liked to say, when it comes to dancing I had two left feet.

Bigfoot's happy dancing was ruined when Eustace came in asking about dinner. One look at Bigfoot had him screaming and running for the hills.

"Alright!" I cheered, holding out my hand for a high-five.

Bigfoot looked confused so to make this less awkward I put my hand down. He then smiled goofily before beginning to dance again while I quickly peeled the fruits off me.

There was no way that Eustace would just give up and upon hearing the distant sounds of yells getting louder, I knew Eustace had brought back up with him.

Poor Bigfoot was whacked in the head with a rock through the window causing his fruit to fall out and pause him from dancing. Muriel then happened to wake up.

"Well it's about time," I muttered. "But think...what am I supposed to do? I'm pretty sure that's a full mob out there."

Muriel stormed out the house as I heard her arguing with Eustace. I then felt large warm arms wrapping around me and shivering.

He was scared. This poor guy was scared.

I patted his back gently while seething. To actually get a mob to threaten this poor guy...was downright cruel.

To make matters worse, I heard large thumping noises coming from the front door. I felt Bigfoot get agitated as he clung more to me before letting out a loud roar. I'm sure it was to come off threatening but I knew there was some fear in it.

Suddenly I was pushed aside as Bigfoot ran through the walland let out a roar to the crowd as Eustace demanded Bigfoot to surrender to get his lifetime membership which caused the mob to cheer as well.

Jesus, the lifetime member is like God's gift to man to these guys. It's just for a museum!

Growling myself, I stormed out the hole Bigfoot made and stood still in front of him.

"You guys are a bunch of bullies! This poor guy is friendly, he's only scared! He's only been looking for food and there is no freaking way he caused those disasters! You'd have to be a moron to believe that, which obviously you guys are! So just stop it-OR I'LL BREAK YOUR BALLS!" I called out but due to the fact nobody understood me I was thoroughly ignored.

I would like to see how ignored I was when I grabbed their torches and lit the asshole on fire!

However I never got the chance to get my revenge, because another voice called over the crowd.

"What are you doing to my little boy?!" the familiar voice of the man-she senior called out as she pushed through the crowd and came towards us.

"Theodore!" She called out in joy.

To my surprise Bigfoot seemed to jump for joy upon catching sight of her, waving his arms around widely. "MOMMY!"

Both of them seemed to do this weird running towards each other-Bigfoot's more like jumping and the old lady's running like lines rushing together. The both eventually came towards each other and embraced.

The mob awed causing me to slap my head. Really? It only took that method to deal with? If I had decided to open the door after Eustace slammed the door on her and guided her to the kitchen, this could have been dealt with!

Still that was the best food fight ever so I'll let it go...this time.

Wait a minute, did she call him Theodore? What a...normal name to call Bigfoot.

However Eustace being the dick he was planted his metal cuffs around Bigfoot while he was hugging his mom and then exclaimed how he'd get the reward.

I ignored how Muriel demanded Eustace to release Bigfoot while he refused and quickly stormed up to him.

"What do you want mutt?" He demanded and before I knew it all the anger that had built in clouded my judgement.

I punched him. I punched Eustace Bagge in his stupid face. I was thankful to no physics applying to this cartoon because he was sent flying. And then the mob chased after which was a bonus.

"Ha, I knew I could take him," I told Bigfoot with a smile as I removed the cuff.

His mother then sighed and wagged her finger at him. "Next time you want to play, stay in our backyard!" She ordered while Bigfoot nodded, ashamed.

She then grabbed him and began dragging him away, still telling him off. I waved sadly as I had no idea if I would see him again-I doubted it-and this was one of the rare episodes where another creature was actually not trying to kill me.

"Courage," a voice spoke up behind me causing me to freeze.

Oh yeah, I just punched Eustace in front of Muriel...this doesn't look good.

I turned to her with my best innocent face. "I love you Muriel."

She bonked me on the head.

By the end of the night, Both Muriel and I were sat on the front porch eating pie. To my surprise a banana popped out of my mouth to which I spat it out.

"Ugh, stupid cartoon gags."

No P.O.V

Luna chuckled to herself as she finished off her pizza. Seeing Emmy actually deck the famer was a surprise but after seeing the type of person Emmy is, she was surprised she lasted that long without turning on the farmer.

"Heh, I wonder if she can keep it for the next episode...Hmm, I think it's getting boring following the franchise as I have been. Now it's time add something new..." Luna commented out loud, chuckling.

Emmy was going to be in for a surprise because even if she did remember the next episode, she certainly won't expect what Luna has done to change it somewhat.

A/N: So it's been a while hasn't it? I'm sorry for the two year wait and I just want you guys to know that I'm not giving up on this fic, It got hard to watch the episodes as the site I used got copyrighted so it was hard to find the episodes. Plus college kept me busy, then we moved house and I had to enrol in another college that was a lot harder.

I don't when the next chapter will be up but I'll try my best to get another out as soon as possible. Each time I post a new chapter, I'll make sure to mention which chapter it is in the summary.

Preview to next episode: Emmy thought her only problem was dealing with a PMSing Eustace who was angrier than usual, but an unexpected person shows up striking up feelings she rather not have.
