CHAPTER SEVEN
Kori did as she was told, pulled off the exit and parked the car under the bridge. She got out of the car and stood by the front of the car. She waited a few moments as she watched a car pull up and park a few feet in front of her. Her father got out and walked towards her he stopped a few feet short from her.
"You're not suppose to be having fun Kori your suppose to be working."
"I am. And why are you watching me?" she asked
"Just got to make sure you're doing what your suppose to."
"I need money," she said ignoring what they had just talked about.
"Why?"
"Richard asked me to go to a dinner with him tonight that Bruce is going to. I need to buy a dress for it."
"Okay," he said as he took his wallet out and some money with it and handed it to her, "Good thing this mark has plenty of money."
Kori rolled her eyes, turned around, and got back into her car. She drove off then and headed to the mall. Kori walked into a dress shop and was looking around for a dress for the night. She went towards long dresses. She was looking through it and then found something she liked. It was a long black dress that had a slit from her middle thigh all the way down it was strapless showed off a little bit of cleavage and not too much. She ended up purchasing the dress and then bought some black shoes with some heel to them.
She went home after that and placed everything on her bed as she went to take a shower. Once she got out she wrapped a towel around her and walked back into her room where she placed her hair in a messy bun pinning it up. She then walked over to her table and sat down; she was looking into a mirror as she was doing her makeup. Her door opened and she could see her father's reflection in the mirror as he walked up behind her.
"Getting ready?" he asked as he placed his hand on her bare shoulder.
She looked at him and didn't say anything. She finished her makeup and then got up from her seat. She turned and moved so she was walking past her father but he grabbed her arm stopping her. "What?" she said as she looked at him.
"You know you've become a very beautiful young woman," he said as he moved his hand and pushed her hair behind her ear.
It made her uncomfortable and she wanted him to get out of her room, "I have to finish getting ready," she said to him.
He then left the room and Kori walked over to her door, shut it, and locked it.
She put on a strapless bra that was black, black lacy underwear, and then put her dress on. She pulled it down and straightened it so it looked all good. She also put her shoes on and then pulled her hair down from its pins. She scrunched her hair and then put one part of her hair back up so the one side was pulled away from her face. She headed to the door and was exiting the house when she saw a car pull-up.
"Right on time," she said to herself as she walked to the car. She opened the passenger door and got into the car.
"Hey," Richard said to her.
Kori looked him over he was in a black tuxedo with a white shirt on, "Hey, you look nice."
"Thanks so do you," he said. It was quiet as he pulled away from her house and started driving down the road they were soon on the main road.
"So is this like a business dinner?" she asked him after a while.
"Kind of, they'll talk about business for a few so they can both write it off as a business dinner. Then they'll talk about other things and then we'll get into the discussion about me and what I'm doing," he said.
"Okay," she said to him.
"Yeah, it's so much fun," he said sarcastically.
"Did you just want me to die of boredom then while we're there?" she asked teasingly.
"Was kind of hoping they would be distracted by you so they wouldn't ask me questions."
"Oh, okay," she said and looked out the window.
"Plus, while there talking about business we can talk without anyone else eavesdropping," he said to her looking at her from the corner of his eye.
Kori smiled lightly and continued to look outside. Richard soon pulled the car up to a restaurant and parked the car there where people outside at the front of the restaurant with cameras. They obviously didn't realize it was him because they stayed where they were. Richard got out of the car, came to Kori's side, and opened the door up. She got out and gave him a light smile, he looked her dress over, "Is this fine?" she asked him
"Yes it's great," he said as they started to walk towards the entrance.
"Just ignore the cameras and the questions," he said to her right before thy paparazzi noticed them. All Kori could hear was questions and camera's flashing. She could hear her father's voice in her head during that moment, 'Stay out of photos. Photos are how you get yourself known and you'll get caught.' He was going to kill her when he found out special if her picture ended up in a paper. She put it out of her mind once they were inside the restaurant and the person standing behind a podium came and stood in front of them.
"Mr. Grayson welcome your father is already here and sitting I'll take you back there," the man, said, Kori and Richard followed him into the back that was blocked off from everyone else. Once they were at the table the man left and Bruce and the other man already sitting there stood up and greeted them.
"Richard took you long enough to get here," Bruce said.
"I told you I was stopping," Richard said.
"So who is this?"
"This is Kori, she's in my classes," Richard said.
"Koriā¦" Bruce trailed off.
"Kori Wilson," Kori said to him.
"Welcome, well let's sit," Bruce said and took his seat as did the other man. Kori and Richard went over to the other chairs and Kori took a seat first and then Richard. Kori realized Richard was right the first hour his father and this other man talked about business but they seemed to enjoy it. Kori was taking a drink from her glass when Richard turned to her.
"So Kori you liking Gotham?"
She looked at him, "I guess."
"You guess?" he said
"I haven't done much here yet. I've gone to the college, gone to your party, and now I'm here."
"You've been here long enough to do something," he said to her.
"I rather not be doing things alone."
Richard looked at her, "Would you like to go out some time?" he asked her.
Kori looked at him, "Sure," she said to him.
"So how are you liking the classes?" he asked her
"There enjoyable," she said to him.
He just nodded his head to her, it was then quiet between the two of them as they both took a drink from there glasses.
"So did you want to do something tomorrow night?" Richard finally asked her
"Sure."
"Don't you have to discuss this with someone else?" he questioned her
"No. Did you have something specific in mind?" she asked him then.
"Mh, not at the moment but I can think of something by tomorrow," he said to her.
"okay," she said.
The rest of dinner that night went by quietly and afterwards Richard took her back to her home. He parked the car and looked at her, "Thanks for coming."
"Thanks for inviting me Richard I had fun tonight."
"You had fun listening to a business deal and all?" he asked
Kori laughed slightly, "I had fun going out with you tonight," she said and then got out of the car leaving him there. She walked to her house, entered shutting the door behind her, and then entered her room. She changed into her regular clothes and feel asleep. She was sleeping peacefully that night into the morning until she was awakened by her father's voice yelling for her from the living room it seemed. She moaned slightly as she got out of the bed and headed out to the living room.
"What?" she said by the door way
"Come here Kori," his voice was plain.
Kori approached him and stood near him, he grabbed her wrist in a second turning it sharply so she was on her knees. "What have I told you?"
"Told me about what?" Kori asked wincing in pain.
"About your photo being taken?"
"It wasn't my fault what was I suppose to do they were all right there," she said.
He looked at her. "Let go of me I need my hand."
"No you don't."
"Yes I'm going out tonight."
"Oh with who?" he asked her
"Richard," she said.
He seemed to think about this before he let her wrist go. She stood up and walked away from him.
"I expect results Kori," he called from the living room as she went back to her room to change.
She was in her room for about half an hour before she heard a knock on a door and then her father calling her name.
Kori left her room and headed to the main room and inside her house was someone she didn't expect and her father's facial expression she couldn't read how he felt about this.
"Richard, what are you doing here?" Kori asked as she walked further into the main room.
"Going out remember," he said to her.
"Thought that was later today?" she asked
"We never really set a time."
"Well go on Kori," her father said.
Kori didn't give a look to her father just headed out the door with Richard in front of her. She got into his car as he did and looked in front of him. It was quiet for a few moments before Kori spoke, "So where are we going?"
"I was thinking lunch and then something else afterwards."
"Kori gave a light smile and nodded her head. Wish you would have told me you were coming because I would have meet you outside."
"What don't want me in your house? Hiding something Kori," he said with a slight chuckle he was joking but he was right she was hiding something.
She didn't say anything to him and she knew she should have reacted or something. "Something wrong Kori?" he asked
"No nothing's wrong."
"Okay," he said and continued driving they drove to a restaurant and he parked the car. Kori got out of the car the same time Richard was getting out. She headed inside with him and they were shown to their seats.
It was quiet for a few moments before she spoke, "So how come your last name isn't the same as Bruce's?"
Richard shrugged, "I like my last name staying how it is. Keeps my family's name intact."
Kori nodded her head as a waiter came over and took their order. "Oh I have a favor to ask you."
"Yes?" Kori asked
"Me and Bruce are going out of town this week if you could take notes for me in our classes I would appreciate it."
