I woke up in an unfamiliar room. I was lying on a bed with white sheets, and a wooden dresser in the corner. The walls were plain and dull. My Lady wouldn't like it very much.
I sat up only to feel the horrible pain all over my body and lie down again. I'd forgotten about what had happened earlier until right then, and I wanted to cry for not being able to defend myself.
I heard a knock on the door. I was too tired and in too much pain to speak, so I cleared my throat so the person outside would know I was awake.
I heard the door open, then close again. I looked over to see Sebastian walking toward me. My eyes started to water at the sight of him for no reason that I could think of. I was probably just grateful to him for saving my life.
He stopped at the side of the bed, and I tried to sit up. He didn't stop me, instead he helped me. It hurt like the fiery depths of the land I came from, shows how strong I was.
After I had sat up and was sitting as comfortable as possible, Sebastian sat on the bed next to me. I leaned against him and cried as hard as I could, not caring who heard me at this point.
"What's the matter? Do you hurt?" Sebastian asked with concern in his voice. He never once pushed me away, he always held me tight while I cried.
I nodded, then sat up. "I'm a failure," I said to him.
"What makes you think that?" he asked, surprised by what I had just said. I'm not usually the one to admit defeat or mistakes, so this was hard for me.
"All I did was throw My Lady into a room and get beaten half to death. A real, strong demon could recover from these wounds in a few seconds. How long was I out?" I was about to cry again.
"About 24 hours, by the looks of it," Sebastian answered. "And at least you were there, or Lady Elizabeth might not have survived at all."
"My Lady!" I screamed, and tried to jump out of the bed. Sebastian grabbed me before I landed on me feet on the floor, and laid me back down on the bed. I fought him, but gave up when I felt a cut reopening.
"She's unharmed," Sebastian informed me, recovering me with a quilt. "She is in her room, waiting for you to recover."
Sebastian stood. "Well, I suppose I should leave you to your rest," he said. "Remember, Luna, you are only 16. You're not very strong yet, and probably won't be for a long while, but you are a real demon, and I will watch over you," and with that, he left.
