Chapter 7: Walk with me:
Weeks had passed since she that visit to Erebor yet the sting of seeing that she dwarf leaving Thorin's room was as fresh to her as the instant it happened. She had seen very little of Dis since the arrival of Khim her betrothed. Luthien understood that they were taking this well needed time to get acquainted before their wedding day. She was indeed happy for her dearest friend noting that she had never seen Dis was so happy as she had since meeting Khim.
Luthien sighed as she made her way through the secret passage. Her thoughts betraying her-always they came back to him, Thorin. She had not seen Thorin since that day in Erebor. That moment the dwarf maiden left his chamber. There had been no time to speak about what had happened. Not that she wanted to see him ever again. But she could not put aside the feelings of her heart. He cared for her as much as she did him. She had seen the look in his eyes, that look shared between two people who had deep feelings for one another. And he looked at her that way- she had not been mistaken.
Thorin had been called away to the Iron Hills for meetings with his cousin Dain. If truth be told-Luthien was glad Thorin was away-she would not have face him.
She wandered into the woods slowly weaving on the path that led to a pond that she often frequented. Smiling as she sat on its edge. She removed her slippers and allowed her feet to dip in the cool water. Her eyes closed and she allowed her mind to wander. She was unaware that she was not alone.
He had no sooner arrived back to the Lonely Mountain that very morning then he bathed-changed and immediately headed straight for the woodland hoping he would find her there. And he would not be disappointed. Thorin quietly made his way through the thicket until he came to the clearing near the pond. He stopped bracing himself against a tree. Luthen's scent beckoned him-almost consumed him. Thorin stood perfectly still, welcoming the reprieve from the ache within his soul -even if it might be fleeting. His heart felt whole, throbbing within his chest as he watched the sunlight dance fire sparks off her shining hair. Smiled as the breeze carried her sweet smells to his nostrils. This feeling was so foreign to him. He had never desired or ached for anyone like he did for her in his entire life. Although it was thrilling-the sensation also filled him with fear. Fear of the loss she would bring to him if things went wrong. She was after all-from the race of man and he was a dwarf. No he was not just any dwarf-he was heir to the line of the throne of Durin.
But for this moment-he was merely a dwarf -in love or the best realization to it he had ever come. His eyes slowly opened and refocused on her. His blood warmed, full of need to reach out and touch her-hold her- feel the warmth of her against him. The silken threads of her hair beckoned him as the breeze lifted them like hands reaching out for him. He closed the distance between them until he was standing just behind her.
He spoke deep but softly.
"Tis naught safe for you to be in the woodlands lone Luthien." He knelt behind her.
"Thorin?" she whispered with a smile.
"Indeed." He took this opportunity to slide in next to her on the banks edge.
Luthien looked over and smiled-he had to admit he wasn't sure what type of reception he would receive after their last encounter so he was pleased when she did not flinch.
"I know these woodlands like I know my own soul. I am safe here." She twirled her fingers around each other. "But I thank you for your concern Prince Thorin." His chuckle caused her to dart her head in his direction.
"Prince Thorin?" Are we on such formal terms that you address me in such a manner?" he chuckled bracing his elbows on bent knees.
She shrugged and chuckled softly. "I suppose we are not-Thorin."
He smiled leaning in so his arm gently bumped into hers-rocking her. She looked over at him and smiled tucking the loose strands behind her ear. They sat in silence for a good while just looking out over the ripples in the pond.
Finally he broke his voice low. "Luthien…I have been wanting to speak to you about what happened the last time we saw one another." His fingers clasped tightly.
She looked away. "You have nothing to apologize for Throin- there have been no words spoken between us that would indicate that I have claim to be jealous."
His head dropped between thick shoulders. "Then perhaps there should be….words spoken between us." His hand dropped so it cupped hers lightly, glad when she did not pull away. "Luthien, I cannot deny that there are feelings -strong feelings between us."
She smiled blushing as her fingers opening so his could lace with his. "Nor can I." She smiled looking over at him. He stood holding his hand out smiling when hers slipped in his. He pulled her up. He pulled her toward him. She was real, her skin, her bones beneath, solid and his. She was here…in his arms. Thorin drew in a deep, wavering breath, and dared to kiss her.
They walked slowly on the warn path quietly speaking of their past -learning about each other through all of the great memories they had. They had lived different lives-he in the dark world in the depths of Erebor and her the sun filled existence of Dale. Thorin felt as if they were finally growing closer and closer despite the physical differences of their homes and cultures. The young Prince looked down at their fingers laced together thinking that perhaps someday they could see each other more often, or if he dared allowed himself, even be together all of the time.
As Luthien softly spoke, Thorin found himself watching intently as a slow breeze danced through the long curly tresses. Her flowing golden hair suspended as if there was no gravity. His breath nearly hitching as her velvet golden dress was pulled in several directions and when it blew just right, it tightly formed to her perfect legs and hips. He smiled-there was no place he would rather be then right here next to her.
As they walked further into the woods she pointed out and named all the blossoms that were blooming in the trees and he found himself actually enjoying her tutelage but so she company for the brief time they had. Thorin found himself looking back over his shoulder making sure they would not be interrupted by any unwanted intruders such as the likes of Peregrin. No one was stirring. He smiled.
"We're almost to the flowers I told you about." Luthien whispered. She smiled as Thorin pulled her towards him. "Come they are just out of the wood line into the field.
They stepped out of the woods-into the light of the midday sun. There before them were 8 large stacks of hay- each was well over 5 feet high, so the view to the wild flowers was unfortunately obscured.
Luthien step ahead of him pulling his hand -she smiled as they came around the side of the stacks, the Mallos and assorted flowers were more stunning to Thorin as the colors shinning from the chambers of Erebor. Yellows, whites, reds, blues, for almost 100 yards in front of them. As they looked at each other, she stood on her toes and kissed his cheek. A warm flush rolled through the young prince and he found it was not only unexpected but wonderful.
She paused, then stood on her toes to repeat the kiss - this time Thorin turned so their lips touched. He was pleasantly surprised when she didn't pull away. But instead she boldly grabbed his shoulders and pulled him in close. His world spun. All he could feel was the warmth of her lips. The only thing he could smell was the sweet smell of the oil she bathed with.
After a few seconds they nervously broke apart quickly looking around to see if they were being watched. Thankful hay stacks seemingly blocked the entire view from the world. He immediately grabbed her, embraced and kissed her more intently-more passionately. His tongue braised hers lips. Before he softly bit her lower lip sucking its sweet flesh. Luthien melted into his arms.
She pushed away from him, smiling as she began walking backward into the rainbow of color from the flowers, leaving Thorin in the wake of their kiss and his desire for her. With each slow step she took away from him she grabbed a fistful of each side of her dress and slowly pulled it upward exposing the flesh beneath-her skin glowed as she exposed her knees and then her thighs. He groaned moving toward her slowly. Luthien continued stepping backward, inviting him toward her by sharing her beauty -one- inch -at- a -time.
He quickly advanced on her closing the distance between them. Thorin had seen enough to stir his blood with desire for her. As he approached she stopped and lowered her dress blushing at her own boldness. She smiled and laughed inclining her head for she was surprised that she could captivate him so easily.
As their bodies met, Thorin threw his arms around her softly moving them to the ground, surrounded by color and the fragrant smells he never noticed before. His thick digits brushed the hair out of her face so he could kiss her with every ounce of emotion he restrain. Luthien's breathes quickened as He rolled them among the flowers until she was positioned on top of him. He gazed into her deep green orbs smiling down at him. Before he knew it Thorin had allowed his hand to linger down the length of her arm until his fingers slowly grazed the smooth skin of her thigh laughing as she gasped.
They continued to kiss each one deeper and slower as his hands continued to gently grope her hairless smooth skin for a moment more, then Thoin rolled with her once again rising to his feet leaving her breathlessly sprawled in the ground-her hair fanned out amongst the flowers. He smiled extending his hand out to hers and pulled her up toward him. His hand slipped around her small waist as they walked over to the hay stacks and pushed her back against them. His lips found hers once more as his hands worked their way down her hips, onto her upper thighs -slowly tugging her dress upwards. One side at a time. The innocent tease of her white flesh a moment earlier had lit a fire inside him -he wanted more than ever now. He kissed her hard amazed at her ability to match his movements as though she had been doing this all her life. But he knew better. Knew that she although she claimed to be an old spirit-she was pure and the gems within Erebor.
Their lips broke apart and she looked up at him into his deep blue eyes while she bit her lower lip and moaned. Luthien struggled to catch her breath. She gasped and bent her knees further. He smiled, pulled back to stare right into her eyes as he slowly released her dress hems allowing them to flow back down the length of her legs. She broke her stare to look around and see if anyone was watching, but we were completely alone. Her brows furrowed as she did not understand his apparent sudden disinterest in her. Thorin could not help but laugh out loud at her pout.
He leaned down so their foreheads touched as he took her hands in his. "Luthien, I will not move too fast." Raised her hand to his lips and kissed longingly-his tongue flicking her skin before his teeth graze her knuckles. He looked up into her eyes. "I have a gift for you." He reached inside his tunic and pulled out a parcel wrapped in soft leather then offered the gift to her.
She stepped back placing her hand on her heart and smiled before slowly reaching for the gift. "Thank you. I do not know what to say.
He shifted from heel to toe. "You haven't opened it yet." He chuckles looking up over thick dark lashes.
She rips into it as he laughs again-she bites her lower lip and blushes rolling her eyes. When she unfolds the last piece of leather to expose a beautiful hair clip. Her breath hitches. She looks up smiling. "Thorin its…. its… so lovely. Thank you"
"I know how much you admired the one that I made for Dis." His thick finger traced the intricate carvings. "I made this especially for you."
She wrapped her arms around his neck whispering in his ear. "I will treasure it forever. Thank you." Thorin held her tightly as they kissed.
Reluctantly he stepped back his hands braced her hips. "Tis late and I should escort you home." He whistled for Minty. He lifted Luthien by the waist unto the saddle then flinging his leg over the rump and settling in behind her. She leaned back against his chest. One arm snaked around her waist holding her firmly as they rode to Dale.
