Akise let out a sigh for what seemed like the hundred time today.

Looking at his wrist watch, he informs Yuno who was sitting at the living room, "Gasai-san, I'm heading out for awhile. Just give me a call when you need me."

No response.

It's been like that ever since the incident with the sacred eye. Yuno had been giving him the cold shoulders. She'd been ignoring him as if he wasn't even there. Perhaps she was blaming him for what happened. Sure, it was his fault. He knew it was. If he had just listened to her then they wouldn't have that ugly confrontation, if he'd just listened to her, Yuno wouldn't have been hurt, and if he had just listened to her they'd still be laughing and talking to each other like other typical friends (even if she won't admit it) would. Looks like they were back to square one.

Sighing again, he side glanced at Yuno who was at the living room, and opened the front door, taking a step outside. Akise closed the door behind him, shoving his hands in his pockets and striding towards his destination.

Unbeknownst to him that when he left Yuno stared at the door with a sad look on her face.

After having a meeting with Nishijima about the latest cases of the diary holders Nishijima offered to drive him home. Of course Akise gladly accepted the offer.

Now they were sitting inside Nishijima's white Honda civic. The light, clean smell of springtime from the air freshener lingered in the air inside the car. There was only the sound of the engine as Akise stared outside the window of the white Honda Civic.

"You okay?" Nishijima broke the silence, pulling Akise from his train of thoughts.

"Yeah…" Akise's voice was low. For a moment, Nishijima thought that there was a hint of melancholy in there but quickly dismissed it, remembering that this was Akise, cool, calm and he never saw this kid let his emotions get the best of him.

"You look troubled," Nishijima side glanced at the silver haired boy sitting beside him.

Akise smiled," It's nothing, Nishijima."

Suddenly something caught their attention. It was a red Toyota convertible and they can see that its headlights were flickering.

Akise stared at it.

The car passed by theirs and Akise caught sight of three people inside the red car.

In the driver's seat there was a guy with sport long brown hair, wearing goggles, a white trench coat, and matching white hat. In the back there was a boy and a girl. The girl navy blue haired that flowed up to her shoulders and purple amethyst orbs. She was wearing shades but it didn't exactly cover her eyes. The boy had long chocolate brown hair and just like the girl, was also wearing the shades.

Akise's eye widened in shock," Nishijima! Speed up the car! Now!"

Nishijima didn't know what caused Akise's change in mood, but regardless he sped up and the next thing they know they were outside Akise's house.

Akise quickly runs out of the car.

The front door of the house was slightly open. Inside, the house was a mess. Some furniture were overturned but worst of all, Yuno was nowhere to be found.

"Damn!" Akise punched the wall nearest to him," Dammit! I was too late!" Akise punced the wall again. Punching it harder as if it was the center of all his dilemma.

"Akise, calm down," Nishijima approached the silvered haired boy who was continuously venting all his anger and frustrations to the wall.

"I should've been here! I shouldn't have left! It's all my fault again!"

Suddenly Akise's cell phone rang, alerting them both. It was ringing insistently in Akise's pocket.

Akise had a bad feeling about this and hesitantly picked up his phone.

"Hello."

"Hello Akise Aru," Akise could hear a deep voice on the other line," I bet you're wondering where your girlfriend is right now?"

"Who are you? And where's Gasai-san?"

"Tell you what, I'll give you your girl back if you meet me at the Sakurami tower."

"How can I be sure that this not some fraud?"

Then Akise heard something that made him purse his lips in irritation.

"Akise! Don't listen to him! It's a trap!" Akise heard Yuno's yells from the other line and it sounds like she was struggling.

"So now you believe me?" There was that deep voice again.

"Okay, I'm on my way to Sakurami tower. Don't even think of hurting her."

"And Akise Aru, don't even think of bringing the cops with you. You should come alone or else the girl gets it," And with that the kidnapper hangs up.

Now here he was standing outside the Sakurami tower. He gazed at the tower. It was like a monument to the modern age, acres of glass and shiny steel strung together. It was like a giant mirror, reflecting light and making the street look brighter. The Sakurami tower was one of the attractions of Sakurami City, built at the heart of the city, towering over some other small buildings.

He took a deep breath. This is it. One wrong move and he'll blow up everything. He needs to save her this time.

He stepped inside.

Stepping inside an elevator to get to his destination, the door slid shut and the elevator rose to the top. Waiting for the elevator to arrive at the first deck felt like forever. He felt a hint of anxiety deep down but he quickly shook it off. The elevator creaked as it moved like a snail and there was that grinding sound above enveloped the quiet elevator.

Then the elevator slid open. He wasted no time and walked out of the elevator.

The floor was decorated like a little chapel. The 7th were standing at the altar.

Ai was wearing a white turtleneck gown that reached up to her feet with off white laces. In her hands she was holding a bouquet of pink roses. Marco was wearing a white suite with a pink dress shirt underneath and a red tie.

His gaze fell on Yuno who was tied up behind the newly wed.

"Akise!"

" Welcome, Akise Aru," Marco smiled smugly.

"What do you need?" Akise asked calmly, taking a few steps forward.

"Ah, well, well, well. I heard you were collecting data about the other diary holders and I want those data."

"No Akise! Don't give it to him! It's a trap!" Yuno struggled against her binds to no avail.

"Very well, just make sure you'll release Gasai-san if I give you this," Akise said, bringing out a small notebook from his pockets, showing and pointing it at Marco.

Marco nodded," Of course."

Akise was about to hand the notebook to Marco but the next thing he knew Marco was sent doubling over.

Yuno had just pushed Marco away.

"Gasai-san…"

She was now standing in front of Akise.

"Stupid Akise, I told you not to give it to him. It's a trap," Yuno glared at Akise.

"Oh well," Marco shrugged casually," Since I don't get the data. There's no more reason for me to let you live," Marco brought out a teal colored cell phone which was Yuno's.

Before Marco could get the chance to break Yuno's diary Akise lunged at him swiftly with a looping swing. Marco wasn't able to see it coming so Akise's fist collided with his face.

"So that's how it's gonna be. Bring it on," Marco smiled smugly before taking off his suite, meaning he was ready to fight and beat Akise," Hey Detective boy, do you believe in the power of love?"

"I'm guessing this has something to do with the abilities of your diaries?" Akise raised a brow.

"Right, I guess you already know that our diaries are diaries of love that help us protect each other."

"Your point is?" Akise asked flatly.

"Have you heard of the saying that 'love is the most powerful thing of all' ? And you can never beat us," Marco sent a blow that was meant for his jaw but Akise was fast and dodge the punch, taking Marco's knee out with his foot.

Suddenly the floor shook violently causing some part of the floor to crack and some tiny debris falling.

"W-what the hell?" Marco looked up.

"It's time, Marco. I'm destroying this tower," A voice from the speakers which were hung above the wall rang out in the room.

"Ta-kun," Marco glared at one of the speakers.

"I made sure there'll be enough time for you to escape."

Then there was a blinding flash

"It's all up to you now."

And the next there was a ball of blackened orange-red flame baking the startled air and a shockwave that was seemingly blowing away everything in its path. Particles of debris sprayed into air. Then it got all silent.

"Akise, they're going upstairs."

They didn't waste any time and ran after the two diary holders.

"Perhaps they're going to get out by a parachute," Akise said while running in front of Yuno.

"That's convenient. We'll kill them and take their parachutes."

" It never fails to impress me how you can say 'kill' so easily," Akise said as they quickly made their way up a flight of stairs.

"But first," Yuno abruptly stopped in her tracks and face Akise," Could you cut this rope first?" Yuno brought up her arms, wrists tied with ropes.

Akise cuts the rope.

They resumed running.

" Be careful out there," Akise said as the door came into view.

"You too."

Then they reached the top floor.

Just in time.

The elevator door slid open, revealing the 7th. They were wearing their usual clothes and not their wedding clothes anymore.

"Let's end this," Marco said, lunging towards Akise.

Akise swiftly dodged the shot.

While Marco was busy with his attempts to hit the silver haired boy Yuno quickly dashed over to Ai. In an instant she was standing over Ai. Ai didn't get the chance to register what was about to happened when the knife slit her throat, making blood spatter, staining the floor.

Marco turned his head and his face contorted into a horror filled face.

"Mar… co…," Ai's voice was fading.

Marco abandoned what he was doing and all his thoughts were about Ai.

Suddenly the ground shook violently, dusty debris falling everywhere. The floor rocked and bucked. The building was shaking; it was as if the walls were shrieking until the roof of the building finally gave out. It happened in a flash and before he knew it great big debris fell on them caving them in.

"It looks like there's no way out," Akise said checking on the fallen debris and looking for a way they can use to get out.

Yuno who was laying unconscious on the floor stirs, opening her eyes, finally gaining consciousness," Akise…"

"Too bad for you guys," Ai stammered, struggling to speak. Her breathing was getting heavy," Mar managed to escape the falling roof," Her voice was starting to fade.

"Seventh…" Yuno eyed the dying girl, who was clutching her future diary.

"Mar knows what's going on inside here through his diary. How I'm about to die… and how you two have no choice but to go down with the tower. Mar will make it out of here eventually… Mar's the winner."

"It's not over yet," Yuno makes a move to grab the older female but Akise placed a hand on her shoulder and shook his head," Akise?"

"She's dying, Gasai-san. We don't need to make it worse than it already is," Akise said sympathetically.

"She's our only way out. We'll draw that guy here using here. I'll cut her to pieces and have him clear a path for us."

"No, Gasai-san. It won't do us any good."

Then all of a sudden a sound of metal against concrete rang out. They turned their heads to where the sound was coming from which was right outside the cave in.

"Hang in there Ai. I'll get you out there now," They heard Marco's voice outside.

"Mar…"

"We're going to become gods and live together forever, right? I'll protect you no matter what happens."

"Stop it, Mar… I'm going to die anyway…" By now Ai was already crying, pearl shaped tears rolled down her face.

Yuno was about to carry out her plan when Akise grabbed her hand. She stiffened at the sudden touch and looked to Akise.

Akise was giving her the 'don't' look. Yuno eventually decided to abandon her plan and took a step back.

"What are you guys doing? Push from your side too!" They heard Marco yelled from the other side.

Akise obliged and started pushing but Yuno was being stubborn.

" I think I should be the one giving orders here since we have your precious wife!" Yuno replied.

"You're some bitch, too. Some love you claim to have. Obsessing over some dead guy and turning a blind eye on the people who are always there for you and sticking for you even if you're just selfish," Marco said taking Yuno by surprise.

"How did he..?" Yuno's eye widened in surprise.

"And you, Detective boy, you always talk about protecting her yet you don't listen to her sometimes!"

"That's enough-" Yuno scowled.

"That's enough of you, brats!"

"Marco… Stop it…" Ai managed to choke out," You've done enough. I'm going to…"

"Going to die soon, you say? Then that's just another reason for me! I don't give a damn!" Marco was finally able to lift up a big portion of the fallen roof thus opening an exit for them.

But they saw something that shocked them.

Marco was impaled by a metallic pole in his stomach.

"Marco… you…"

Marco chuckles," Sorry, I screwed up."

"Gasai-san! Help me clear a path for us three," Akise said, turning back to Yuno.

Yuno obliged.

Akise and Yuno lifted up the debris to clear a path for them and helped Ai out of the cave in. Marco rushed to Ai and held her in his arms.

They watched as life faded away from Ai who was in the arms of Marco.

"I didn't make it in time again…" Marco coughed out blood and wiped it with the back of his hand.

Akise looks at them sympathetically. He remembered something in the back of his mind.

'I was too late.'

"You guys won. Take it," Marco throws his parachute at Akise which Akise caught gracefully.

"Seventh…" Akise looks at Marco dubiously.

"Don't feel sorry for your enemies. Go!"

Without any more questions Akise and Yuno took off with the parachute. Akise casted a glance back at the couple.

One minute there was a tower standing at the heart of Sakurami City and the next a rising ball of blackened orange-red flame baking the startled air. The building shook so violently then eventually collapsed.

Akise and Yuno now sat side by side inside a bus that the police had provided for them. Outside, the sirens were blazing, mixing with the cacophony of noise as the police department's finest inspect the broken building.

"You're still mad at me?" Akise watches Yuno from the corner of his eyes.

" I wasn't mad at you… I was mad at myself," Yuno said with a sad smile gracing her lips.

"Why?"

"Because when I saw Tsubaki with her diary it made me think of my situation. I realized I was useless. You did everything while I watch from the sidelines. If only I had my diary I wouldn't be such a burden to y-" Yuno sniffed. Her shudders were cut off when Akise wrapped his arms around her.

"You're not a burden, with or without your diary. I guess I just like protecting you and hey, I promise you, didn't I?"

Yuno sniffed," Akise, you idiot. Never leave me again, okay?" Yuno's voice was kinda muffled against Akise's chest and she sounded like she was about to cry.

"Yeah, I promise I won't leave you ever again."
