Chapter 7- Jasper Mission (Part 2)

Piper POV

"Ok, would you rather jump into a pool of eels or great white sharks?" Nico asks Thalia.

"Great white sharks," She answers back, straightening her back a little.

Right now, we're all sitting in the hot tub on my back porch, drinking apple cider and playing Would You Rather.

Everyone is here, and we just finished playing volleyball in the pool. The girls won against the boys (of course).

I'm a bit suspicious of how unexpected the party was, and how weird everyone was acting today in school: Trying to get Jason and I to sit in front of or next to each other in every single class.

"Piper," Katie says, pulling me out of my thoughts, "would you rather eat an ant or a spider?"

Annabeth cringes at this.

"An ant," I say, and Annabeth looks pleased.

"We should probably eat," Annabeth says at the same time Percy's stomach growls. Everyone laughs at this as Percy blushes.

We walk inside and everyone puts their regular clothes back on over their bathing suits and gets their two slices of pizza and cup of soda. Everyone then walks into the living room and takes a seat on the couches and chairs. Of course, they make Jason and I sit on the same couch.

As we eat and Leo tells us one of his stories about his one of many fails trying to get a girlfriend, Annabeth and Percy keep shooting us glances and whispering to each other.

I narrow my eyes, realizing exactly what's going on.

The making us sit together, getting us to talk a lot, and unexpected party?

I know what they're doing.

And I want revenge.

"Hey, Jason, can I talk to you?" I ask him quietly, setting my plate and cup down gently on the armrest of the couch.

He nods and looks at me expectantly.

My eyes flicker around the room full of my friends laughing at something Leo said, oblivious to Jason and I's sudden conversation.

"Privately," I add and he nods again, a little cautiously.

I get up and he follows, Annabeth looks at us but doesn't say anything looking at Leo again and listening to his story.

I go to the back porch and slide the door open, waiting for Jason to step outside. When he does I close the door gently behind us.

I look out beyond the pool and at the beautiful sunset in front of us, the sky a mixture of orange, red, pink, purple, and blue. There is a slight breeze that feels very relaxing.

I turn back to look at Jason who is staring at me, his bright blue eyes looking at me cautiously, like he knows I know something. His lips are pulled into a straight line, making the scar on his lip (that I so desperately want to kiss) more prominent.

"You know what this party is for, don't you?" I ask him and his eyes widen a little bit.

"No," He says, and I can see him swallow big. I cross my arms over my chest and raise an eyebrow.

"Bullshit," I say and he frowns.

"Fine, yes," He says and I smirk triumphantly.

"Well, then, I'm going to be honest with you now," I say and he nods cautiously again.

"Ok."

"I have liked you this whole time, even though it is quite obvious, and I want revenge," I say and his eyes widen. I then, at that moment, realize how close we are.

He seems to, too. His eyes widen and flicker down to my lips.

"Fine, I have too, but I'm confused why you want revenge."

I smirk and he looks scared for a minute.

I then tell him my plan.

Annabeth POV

Jason and Piper walk back in from their little meeting, looking angry. They sit back down on the couch, but far away from each other.

"Percy," I hiss whisper and nudge him. "What the hell happened with them?"

He looks at Piper and Jason and shrugs.

This was going downhill, and very fast.

"We have to do something else," I say urgently and he shrugs again.

"I don't think we should push them, I think we should just let them go at their own pace," He says and I then shrug.

"Fine."

Percy POV

"…and then she tells me 'Sorry, I prefer Percy over you, even if he's taken' and walks away! So rude!" Leo says, finishing another story causing everyone to laugh and me roll my eyes.

"Sorry dude, what can I say? I mean, look at me," I say and everyone laughs again as Annabeth smacks my chest.

"You're so cocky," She says and everyone snickers.

"Only for you," I say in a baby voice puckering my lips and making kissy sounds. Everyone laughs louder at that while Annabeth scowls.

"Aw, come on Annie, live a little," Leo says, leaning back in his chair, a single person chair.

"I'm going to shove this up your ass," Annabeth says picking up a knife on the coffee table in front of her and pointing it at Leo. He puts his hands up in surrender as everyone falls on the floor laughing.

Through the laughter my phone rings. I look down at it and it says: Mom.

"I'll be right back," I tell Annabeth who sets the knife back down on the table and nods.

I get up and walk to the back porch, closing the sliding door behind me as I step out into the crisp breeze.

Winter is approaching fast, so the nights have been getting a lot colder.

(Percy, Mom)

"What's up, Mom?"

"I broke up with him," She says, her voice sounding choked up like she was crying.

"What are you talking about?"

"I broke up with him, you know, John. I realized how oblivious I was to you, and that you deserved some happiness, too."

"But Mom, I'd rather you be happy before me. You know that."

"Oh, but Percy, I am."

Her voice all the sudden sound happier and I press the phone closer to my ear.

"Mom? What happened? Why do you all the sudden sound happy?"

"Today I was at your school, wanting to check up on how you were doing in your academic classes-"

"Mom," I groan.

"-and I met with someone there, and boy was he wonderful. We talked, and we're going to meet up at a coffee shop in a few days."

"That's great; Mom, but what teacher or principal was he?"

"Paul Blofis," She says his name somewhat dreamily, and I almost drop my phone.

"Mom, that's my English teacher," I tell her, my voice strained.

"I know, but it's ok right? You're not upset?"

I almost curse at myself for being so selfish. My mom deserved this, after my father abandoned her when I was baby, and never showed up after. I press the phone back into my ear.

"Of course I'm not upset, Mom, you deserve all the happiness in the world."

Piper POV

So far my plan has been going pretty well.

And, yes, Jason and I are now dating, but we're making sure it isn't known by pretending to hate each other, giving the rest of them a piece of their own medicine.

After Percy left to go take a call, Annabeth decided it was movie time. She sent a few cautious glances over at Jason and me, even though we still continued to pretend to be mad at each other.

We chose Carrie, which everyone was ok with excited after watching the trailer.

Once we turned off the lights and the movie on, it was pitch black expect for the faint glow of the TV.

Jason and I scoot closer to each other and I lean into his chest as he wraps his arm around my shoulder.

"I think this plan is going pretty well," I say quietly so no one could hear.

"Yeah," He says quietly, intertwining our hands and kissing me on the cheek. I smile and lean in closer, continuing to watch the movie.

-.-.-.-

I think I fell asleep, because when I open my eyes again the credits are rolling down the screen, and my body is still pressed against Jason's warm body, his chest rising and falling gently and his breaths even.

I look up at his face, only to see his eyes closed and his long, blond eyelashes creating a shadow over his cheekbones.

I scoot over to the end of the couch, unfortunately, and resume the plan just as before. The lights come back on and I see Annabeth by the light switch, and she immediately looks at us and frowns.

I have to bite back a smile.

-.-.-.-

"Alright, what the hell happened between you and Jason?" Annabeth asks me as Thalia, her, and I stand out on the back porch.

I just smirk.

"Seriously?" Annabeth says and I watch as her face changes slowly into realization.

"You're tricking us," Thalia says slowly and my smirk grows into a grin.

I nod and watch as Thalia and Annabeth look at each other, then start shouting at me with questions.

"Whoa, ok, I'll explain, just calm down," I say and they stop yelling.

"Go ahead," Annabeth says, gesturing with her hand for me to continue.

"Well," I start, "I was getting annoyed with how everyone was acting today and tonight: trying to get me to sit next to him or in front of him, sparking up conversations, and having this unexpected "celebration" party. So, I decided to make a plan. When I dragged Jason back here I asked him if he knew what was going on and he said yes, so I confessed and I told him I liked him. Then I told him I wanted to revenge. We are dating, but we made it seem like we were mad at each other to make you mad and get you to just give up.

"I'm sorry about it, but I was really annoyed with how pushy you were about Jason and I's relationship. We were just going at our own pace, even though we were kind of shy with each other, but I just didn't want to rush it."

They share a glance and hang their heads low, ashamed.

"We're sorry, we just thought the same thing would work with you two as it did for us," Annabeth said, and I was surprised she wasn't trying to make an excuse to not hurt her pride.

"It's ok, I forgive you guys," I say and pull them in for a hug. We hug, and it reminds me of the old days, when it was just us three and none of this other high school drama.

I enjoy the moment and embrace it.

I AM SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SORRY GUYS.

It's been almost a month since I last updated for any of my stories and I am so sorry.

So, let me explain what's been happening since 5/19/14 (my last update date for this story).

That day was two days before my last day of school, and my last day of school was three days before the week cruise I was going on Sunday, and I didn't bring my computer with me to Florida where I stayed the night at my house down there before going on the cruise. I couldn't use any electronics, and I could only write a little bit because the cruise was so fun and there was never a day I wasn't relaxing. The Friday I got back from the cruise, I had to take a plane back to my home state that night, and on Saturday I was packing for an overnight camp I was going to that week. On Sunday I had to drop my luggage off for them to load in the busses and my mom had to do my hair. When I got back from that camp, it was my relaxing weekend before going to an all day dance camp this past week and next week. And now, I finally worked on this chapter.

Sorry again! But thanks so much for all of your patience! I love you guys so much!

Goodbye lovelies! Until next time!
