Chapter Seven
Riley's POV
I had a good night sleep for the mere fact that Savannah only cried once. I managed to wake up pretty early, but it wasn't early enough to get ready before the band was here as they always manage to beat me. Surely, they should still be in bed instead of at our house getting ready to practice.
I made my way downstairs after I pulled on some leggings and a hoodie, grabbing the baby monitor on my way. I could hear the sound of CC tapping his drums ever so lightly, still thinking I was asleep and Andy mumbling some of the lyrics under his breath. I stepped foot in the kitchen to see Jake swinging Savannah around, making her look slightly like a ragdoll.
"Jake, do you not think she's going dizzy?" I cried. He stopped swinging her and turned to face me with a small smile on his face. I knew what he was going to say before he even opened his mouth and it pissed me off.
"Savannah's fine" He reassured. "Don't wreck the fun." Was he being serious? Wreck the fun?
"Don't wreck my daughter with your stupid games" I retorted as Jake rolled his eyes, but handed me Savannah, anyway.
"We were perfectly fine" He muttered under his breath. Yes, I may be angry with him, but when he does that, I can't help but laugh. He's twenty and he still acts like a young child. Savannah will be the one who's teaching him how to be mature before you know it.
"What time does Bailey get here" Andy asked. I had no idea, but I was guessing that Ashley knew. We all looked at him expectantly as he settled his bass down by the sofa and turned to look at us again with a bright smile on his face. He really liked this girl and he barely knew her.
"She should be here in ten minutes" Ashley answered. My eyes went wide as I looked down at what I was wearing. What is she going to think of me if she comes in and I'm wearing a hoodie and leggings with bed hair? I can't imagine she'd be too please about the whole matter.
"Ten minutes? Give me a minute to get dressed and sort out my hair" I shouted as I handed Andy the baby and hurried upstairs, not bothering to shout back at the laughs that were emitting from Jake. Why do I not get told in advance, so I can at least make myself look half decent? I swear life just isn't in balance anymore. What am I supposed to say to this girl? What if she's a bitch and I have to tell Ashley that he shouldn't go out with her because she has a crap personality?
Andy's POV
Riley didn't need to change. She looked perfect the way she was, but it's not like I can do anything about it. Ashley sat down on the sofa next to me, fiddling with his thumbs as he waited.
"Ashley, don't be so nervous" CC commented as he handed me a bottle of water that I asked for an hour ago. Better late than never. Ashley nodded, but he did nothing to calm down.
"If you're nervous then you're going to screw everything up with Bailey" Jinxx sighed as he wrapped an arm around Sammi as though he was proving a point. She rolled her eyes, but manoeuvred, so she fit into the crook of his arm properly.
"Yeah, but this girl's different" Ashley finally sighed as he buried his head into his hands.
"You just need to be yourself and everything will be fine" Jake explained as he came out of the kitchen and into the living room with a sandwich in his hands.
"She's not worth it if you need to be someone different so she'll like you" Sammi sighed just as Riley came back into the living room wearing her jeans and a baggy T-shirt. She took a liking to them when she was pregnant and now I can't get her to wear her old shirts. She smiled at me as she ran the brush through her hair and tried to tame it, but it seemed impossible today.
"She's going to hate me" She mumbled when she finally gave up and placed the brush back on the mantelpiece before taking the bobble from her wrist and putting her hair in a loose ponytail that made her look even more beautiful.
"You look fine" I reassured just as she was about to take a seat, but a loud noise stopped her. A few knocks sounded at the door and the whole room froze. We all sat in silence, daring the person next to us to open the door with our eyes, but everyone was too scared. Finally, Riley grumbled something about us being a load of wimps and moved to let Bailey in.
"She has quite a fist on her if she can knock that loud" Riley laughed as she pulled the door open. I could hear a few hi's and then Bailey walked in. Her hair was in a loose ponytail like Riley's, but it seemed to be more simply. She smiled brightly at us as she tugged at her white T-shirt. She sported a pair of trainers and some baggy jeans, but she suited them well.
"Hi, Bailey" I greeted since no one had spoken and I knew that it must be pretty awkward for her. She gave me an awkward wave and then her eyes settled on Ashley and I knew that she like him, judging by the look on her face. I rolled my eyes at her look of a teenage girl who had a crush that had made itself known.
"Hi, Ashley" She greeted. For some reason, Ashley blushed which was something that he has never done that I have seen. He wasn't lying about liking this girl.
Ashley's POV
As soon as she walked in, I felt as though I was in a trance. Yes, she looked just like she did yesterday, but that look was beautiful and I wouldn't want her to change it for the world. She said hello to me and I felt as though I would never answer for the sheer fact that I was transfixed by her. I only managed to make a noise when CC nudged me as he walked past.
"Hi, Bailey" I finally managed to choke out as she grinned at me. "I suppose we should play for her" Was I that lame? Why did I have to say that? It sounded shit when I said it out loud. I could see Jinxx shaking of laughter and my ridiculous line. Oh good God.
"I look forward to it" Bailey said. She didn't look like she thought my line was stupid, but she could have faked that look to spare my feelings.
"Ashley shreds the bass" CC jumped in, making me feel a hell of a lot better. "He's amazing." I let out a sigh of relief as we took our places at our instruments.
"What song?" I asked Andy.
"The Mortician's Daughter" He answered with a knowing smile. Of course he would pick that. Yes, it would seem cheesy. Romantic? I've known her for a bloody day. I still nodded at Andy and we started. Bailey's eyes stayed on mine for the whole song and I suddenly felt self conscious. I could hardly fix my hair when I was playing, so I ignored it and focused on the song. It's the only thing that I could do to stop myself from worrying constantly.
When we finished, Bailey had a happy grin on her face and I felt a sense of achievement when she hopped off the couch and strode over, in that ever so graceful way, to me.
"What did you think?" I asked, waiting for her to tell me that I wasn't as good as the guys said I was. That would probably stop me playing bass for life, but her look wasn't mocking. It was awe.
"You were amazing" She cheered and I let out the breath that I didn't realise I was holding. She honestly thought I was great. Could life really get any better than this?
"Thanks" I sighed as I put my bass down and wandered to the kitchen with Bailey following suit. "You need to show me your paintings."
"I'm really not very good" She muttered. I hadn't thought she would lack confidence.
"I'm sure you're great" I reassured as I handed her a bottle of water and we took sips. Was this what it was like to like a girl properly? I had always had someone who would want me. Every time I went to school there was some slut that would want to try me out, but this was completely different. Bailey was completely different to everyone else. She was someone that I had respect for even if I had only known her for a day.
"Okay, come over to mine tomorrow and I'll show you them" She laughed as she took another sip from her bottle of water.
"Where do you live?" I asked, grabbing a piece of paper and a pen, so she could write the address down for me. She took it from me and scrawled it down quicker than lightning and handed it back.
"Come over at any time" She sighed as though she hadn't just invited the person that had a huge crush on her to her house.
"I'll take you up on that" I mumbled before heading back into the living room where everyone was talking about the video.
"You guys are really good" Bailey commented as she took a look at her watch. "I'd stay longer, but I'm meeting a friend and I'm already late." She hurried to where her jacket hung on the peg and pulled it on. I followed her to the hallway and she stopped just before she opened up the door and turned to face me.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Bailey" I sighed as she grinned. She straightened up, so she looked slightly taller and pressed her lips to my cheek for a moment before opening the door and leaving. Damn, she was great. I stood in the hallway for a moment, collecting my thoughts and thinking about what had just happened. I couldn't even believe that she hadn't tried to do anything else like the other girls, but I loved it.
Just when I thought I was going to get dragged into a daydream, Riley came around the corner with a grin on her face. I knew exactly what she was going to say before she even opened her mouth.
"What happened to you, lover boy?" She teased as she shifted Savannah's weight and continued to look at me expectantly.
"She kissed me on the cheek" I mumbled, embarrassed by the fact that I had gotten smitten over someone kissing my cheek.
"Aww, you're so falling for her" Riley laughed. Is it possible to fall for someone if you've only spent one day with them. Andy and Riley managed it, could I? It was all so weird and new to me that it practically made my head spin when I just thought about what could occur tomorrow. I didn't know if it was too early to make a move, but the suspense was practically killing me inside. Maybe I was falling for her. Surely, I'm capable of doing that.
