Amity Park had used to be a peaceful town. The people who lived there had been a little clueless but nice non-the less. The crime rate had always been low, and people had felt safe enough to leave their doors unlocked.
So yes, Amity Park had been a peaceful town.
Then the ghosts came.
It hadn't been noticeable at first. Not to the clueless people who inhabited the town. Soon though everyone knew, ghosts were invading their town.
The crime rate went up, mostly crimes caused by ghosts but crimes non-the less. Now locked doors wouldn't help keep people safe, not when the ghost could walk through your wall.
The local ghost hunters were called in to help. Not that they could do much, they were only slightly less clueless about ghosts then the rest of the town.
So the people had no one to help them. Or so they thought.
One of the ghosts who had been attacking the town, a white-haired green-eyed ghost, claimed to be a good ghost.
And Amity didn't know what to think. The ghost had been seen capturing a few ghost in a metal container. Then he would rob a bank, leaving the citizens of Amity unsure.
Then there were the teenagers.
They were convinced that the ghost was a good ghost. Arguing with anyone who said otherwise, particularly the black haired popular girl, who was convinced the ghost was her soul mate.
Eventually, after a lot of good deeds on Phantoms part (like stopping an army of ghosts and their king from taking over the town and the world) did the citizens recognize Phantom as a hero.
Phantom was not a regular ghost, however, not that the citizens knew that. He was a halfa. Half-human and Half-ghost. Phantom was geeky, scrawny Danny Fenton. And to him, the trust between the citizens of Amity and his ghost half was hanging on by a string. No matter what he did or what the town thought it would always be hanging by a string in his mind. So he fought to make sure the people living in Amity knew they could trust him. So if he saw something abnormal on his routine patrol, he felt obligated to check it out and make sure nothing was wrong.
It was that thinking that would someday get him completely killed.
The patrol had started out normal enough. He had snuck out of his house early in the morning for the weekend patrol and had started going over the route he had become familiar with.
Danny, who was currently flying over the park was, quite frankly, bored. There had been fewer ghost attacks the past week, and he had started to miss the daily fights with Skulker.
He was just about to head back home when he heard a loud popping sound from below. Curious as to what could have made the noise he turned invisible and swooped down to investigate.
Landing on a tree branch, he looked down at sight before him. There were four people; one was a boy around his age with black hair who was on his knees looking like he was going to be sick. There was a girl with frizzy brown hair and two boys, one with bright red hair and the other boy who also had black hair but seemed shorter than the other two boys. They all looked at his age, and he wondered what they were doing there other than looking on at the scene of the boy on his knees with sympathy.
"Sorry about that Percy, the first trip is always the worst. Promise it won't feel like that forever." The only girl of the group said giving him a hand to help him stand up.
The boy, Percy the girl had called him, took the hand and got up. "I hope not! That was worse than shadow traveling!"
"Whats that?" The boy with the red hair asked the boy who has now trying to get the grass off his jeans.
"I told you about Nico right? The son of Hades? That is how he travels. It's cool." The red-headed boy excepted the answer.
"I still can't believe..." Danny didn't hear what the girl had said; he had been distracted by his ghost sense going off. He swiveled his head looking around still invisible.
There was a soft whining sound and for a moment time seemed to stand still. Then there was a boom! Danny hit the ground groaning in pain; his invisibility had dropped when the ecto-blast had hit him.
Danny struggled to stand up in the crater he had made in the forest floor. Remembering the four teenagers, he had seen in the forest also he started to look for them to make sure they hadn't been hurt. He found them about ten feet away; they had obviously scattered when he had fallen from the sky. Knowing that they were safe, he started looking for the ghost that had shot him in the first place.
He didn't have to look for very long. Skulker had seen that he had hit his pray and had jumped at the opportunity to capture the halfa without a fight.
"Skulker! Finally gathered the courage to claw your way out of the ghost zone?" Danny said floating up into the air only wincing slightly at the pain in his side where the blast had hit him.
"You do realize this will only end up with me throwing you back to the right?" Danny said again getting ready for the fight he had only moments ago been asking for.
Skulker for once didn't respond. Instead, he shot another blast from his ecto gun followed by a net that Danny just barely managed to dodge. Thinking quickly Danny grabbed the Fenton Thermos from his belt and spun around to face Skulker. He uncapped the thermos ready to capture Skulker when a well-aimed blast sent it flying out of his hands. He didn't get the chance to see where it went before he was once again dodging a blast from Skulker who seemed particularly trigger happy today.
"What no taunting? No exclamations of how you will have my pelt on the foot of your bed or my head above your fireplace?"
Skulker didn't bother to respond, only lifted up his arm and sent four glowing green missiles at Danny.
Danny moved to dodge out of the way; then he heard the scream. The girl from before was standing behind him. If he moved, she would have no chance of getting away. Thinking quickly Danny jumped backward grabbed the girl by her arms and simply fazed into the ground. A moment later the missiles dove towards the ground where they had been and exploded.
The three boys could only watch with open mouths. They weren't even exactly sure what exactly had happened. One moment they had been laughing, the next moment they had been under attack or at least in the middle of an attack. They had gotten out of the way of the two things fight and had tried to figure what the hell was going on.
"Hermione!" The redhead finally shouted trying to figure out where their friend had disappeared to. His eyes are looking around frantically. The other two were doing the same.
Then there was a whooshing sound, and a burst of wind came out of nowhere, leaves were thrown into the air in a swirl and then that thing was in front of them. Danny was holding onto the girl's shoulders. She seemed to be fine, shaken up, but fine.
The redhead rushed forward to grab her, and the thing let him take her into his arms.
The thing, who didn't look like a thing to them he more looked like a person, floated up into the air.
Danny, who was obviously the thing that the boys had been referring to, was trying to locate the Fenton Thermos. He had been tired at the beginning of the fight, and now he was exhausted he had to end things quickly, or he would end up at the mercy of Skulker. And Danny wasn't completely sure of Skulker would leave the people in the woods alone either, there was the plausibility that he would play with them if he did not win.
Danny looked around one more time for the thermos; it was no were to be seen. Spinning around he looked down at the people who were still looking at him with wide eyes. Absentmindedly he wondered where they were from. They were obviously not from Amity because they were acting as they had never seen a ghost or a ghost fight before. Something impossible for anyone who had lived in Amity for more than four hours.
"Did you happen to see were my thermos went? I need it." Danny asked them as politely as he could trying not to scare them. He had lost track of Skulker, and that was not a good thing, he probably only had a moment or two before he would be fighting again and would have no time to look for the thermos.
"Uh," The taller black haired boy said.
The girl, who was still staring at a tree still in shock no doubt was no help. Surprisingly enough the redhead boy had the answer. "Yeah, it is right here." He held out his hand the thermos was clenched in his fist. "It rolled to my feet when that... other guy shot at you."
Danny, who couldn't believe his luck grabbed it out of the redhead's hands. Spinning around to find Skulker and end the fight quickly. Skulker who was still looking around for him did not see the blue beam until it was too late. With a scream, he was sucked into the Thermos, and Danny clamped the lid on with a sigh. Turning back around he looked at the people again. They all seemed to be about his age. The girl had brown hair that seemed to be everywhere, and the redhead next to her was holding her hand, so he assumed they were together. The next two boys looked a lot alike. They were probably brothers. Both had messy black hair and green eyes. The only difference was that the taller one looked like he had more muscles then, the shorter one who had glasses.
"What just happened!" The taller black haired one asked looking around with wide eyes but not looking scared.
Danny landed in front of them. "You are new to town aren't you?" He asked just to confirm his earlier thoughts.
The girl looked at him carefully like she was trying to figure him out. "We are just here looking for someone."
Danny nodded understanding, he was right, they would never have seen a ghost fight before then. "Welcome to Amity park then. And congratulations you just survived your first ghost fight."
"Ghost fight? You gotta be kidding me." The red hair boy muttered.
"Nope sorry. Welcome to Amity Park the most haunted town in all America. I am Danny Phantom." Danny stuck his hand out to the group waiting for someone to shake it.
The smaller black haired one went first. Not even pausing he took Danny's hand and shook it. "I am Harry. This is Hermione, and that is Ron. And then this is,"
The other black-haired boy cut him off, "I'm Percy."
"Nice to meet you all." Danny stopped talking not sure what to say. Then he saw Hermione who was still a little pale looking.
"Are you okay? I know turning intangible can be well disorienting if you aren't used to it."
Hermione gave a jerky nod. "I will be fine. But how can you be a ghost? I could touch you; you aren't supposed to be able to touch ghosts. They are always intangible."
"Well I don't know what ghosts you have been seeing, but all ghosts are like that around here. Were are you from anyway? England?" Danny asked hearing her accent.
"Yes. We are all, well," She said pausing seeming to remember something. "Almost all of us are from England. Percy is from New York."
"That must be one important person you are trying to find them," Danny said tilting his head trying to think of who they would come so far to talk to in person when they could just call them.
"Yeah, you could say that. We have never actually met them, but maybe you have if you live around here." Harry said joining the conversation.
"Maybe, who are you looking for? I know most of the people in the town." And it was true. He could probably name almost all of the citizens by name he had just learned them all over the years of patrol he had done.
"We are looking for the Fenton family."
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Percy were tired. After Percy had found out a little more about magic from Harry, Percy had tried to explain how exactly he had known about it in the first place. So he had explained his back-story, and about the world, he had grown up surrounded by. The world of the Greek gods. Harry, who was the first he had told about them, had not heard any of the stories he was telling him from school. It had been fascinating and confusing to learn that they were not stories at all. Eventually, they had concluded that they were never going to get any sleep so they had woken up Hermione and Ron so they could catch them up as well.
Ron and Hermione deserved credit where it was due; they hadn't called Percy a liar or crazy, they listened to his story and believed it. Something Percy had not been expecting. In fact, as Ron had simply put it; "Well can't say I am surprised. If you are related to Harry, you couldn't be normal." They had questions of course, but they were just curious. And as Percy had said before, he had no problem explaining about his world. Eventually, everything had caught up with them, and they had all fallen asleep on the couch. The next morning before they left the trio had tried to explain to Percy more about magic and had warned him how apparition could be a little... jarring at first. Percy thought they had been vague on purpose. Shadow traveling had been better than that! You could at least breath while you were shadow traveling and knew you were right side up not twisting every which way. Then it had stopped, and he had been able to catch his breath before collapsing to his knees trying desperately not to throw up the breakfast he had eaten that morning before leaving.
Then the ghost had shown up. The one ghost was nice he had even saved Hermione. How exactly the ghosts had gotten out of the underworld, he wasn't sure. Maybe he could ask Nico if he had heard anything about it while he was visiting the underworld. He would deal with all that later though, right now he was only focused on finding Daniel.
Danny wasn't sure exactly what to do. He didn't know what the group wanted with his family, and he would be lying if he said he didn't want to ask. They obviously weren't ghost hunters; they would have been shooting at him if they were. And they were too young to be old friends. So Danny came to a decision.
"Yeah, I know them. I can't take you there, safety reasons and all that but I can point you the way."
Hermione, Ron, Harry, and Percy blinked not understanding what these 'safety reasons' were. Harry and Percy shared a look wondering just how their brother had grown up.
So Danny showed them all the way to the edge of the park's forest and gave them directions to his house before flying off in the opposite direction. Once he was out of site, he looped back around and transformed into an alley near his house. Walking out of the alley he started walking at a slow pace towards his house. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a Fenton Phone and called Sam and Tucker. It was still early in the morning, and not a lot of people would be up, so he felt safe to talk out loud.
"Danny?" Two voices asked simultaneously from his ear, and he jumped realizing his friends had picked up.
"Hey, guys I just finished the morning patrol. I found a few people in the woods looking for my house. It was bizarre, but I pointed them to it, I was hoping..."
"Say no more Danny I will be there in ten," Sam said cutting him off realizing what he was asking for.
"Ditto, see you soon dude," Tucker said before ending the call.
Danny smiled before climbing up the steps to his house not for the first time wondering what he had ever done to deserve such good friends.
Walking into the house, Danny wondered if his family was up yet. Walking into the kitchen, he found that only Jazz was at the table reading a book on Psychology.
"Hey Danny, just get done with patrol? Mom and Dad are still sleeping." She had never even glanced up from her book while talking. Danny who was used to this only sat down and started filling her in on what had happened. She immediately put down her book to listen to everything he said with rapid attention.
"I wonder what they want?" Jazz mused out loud after Danny was done explaining.
Danny glanced at her; he was wondering the same thing.
