Author's Note:

I AM BACK FROM ZE DEAD!

Sort of.

Anyways, sorry for the super long delay. I promise that I'll start updating again, but it's going to be irregular. That pretty much means that I'll write when I have the time and if I have an idea. I will be doing requests very soon, but please bear with me as I fight Algebra one step at a time.

Reviews:

Aria Breuer: I love that you give me your opinions and I respect your criticism on my views on the Fellowship. And I've read Wild Child some time before, and I think she's been doing a good job so far but I agree with the toning down. I know that my "Muse" chapter was a complete fail, but I really wanted to post something so I sort of half-assed it :P (pardon my French) But once again, I really value your opinion :)

Epic Elven Warrior Princess: Awesome name! I'll check out your fanfic when I get the time, mmkay ;)

Padme4000: Awww, thanks! I'll make sure to cover Languages soon :)

The M.H.T. of R.: Haha, Leggy Fu-Fu

Certh: Yeah, my muse tends to run away a lot T_T

tiggera79: *Glomps back*

GreentreeFrog: I'm glad you enjoy it! It's always nice to hear that people actually use my advice :)

WordsLikeStardust: It's always a great idea to revise and revise and revise. Like I honestly have to reread my chapter like five times before I publish it and I still make mistakes T_T I really suggest reading other LOTR author's work if you're writing your own story so you can see how they interpret the characters – just don't copy them.

Peanutbu77erandJe11y074: Interesting username ;) Anywho, I haven't gotten the document yet :P Try resending it or PMing me before so I can see if it works.

Gigiue: Awww, thank you :)

XenoLongbottom: Don't worry, we all make our mistakes (I would know :P). And thank you for the review :3

Bronze Cat: It's sad that that's true and you're welcome :)

RecusantMaverick: Thank you~~

Anna: You're welcome! You should really think about getting an account and letting people see you're work, though. People give out wonderful tips and their criticism really helps you grow as a writer.

Vana Jedi: I knew I forgot one T_T

AaylaKitofNiflheim: Haha, that's true with the Nicholas Sparks thing XD But I understand what you're saying. I honestly don't mind yaoi and I ship it in other fandoms (*cough* Hetalia *cough*), but I really get what you're saying.

Katniss1: I take it that you like the Hunger Games? Anywho, thank you :)

will zona: Yup

Abbl2: Thank you! Make sure to at least skim the books, because they're really helpful on writing information the movies didn't cover.

The Magnetic Witch: I love your icon! And thank you so much :)

She Elf of Hidden Lore: Thanks :)

PetalBetweenTheRoseThorns: Sure, just send me a PM, kay?

Guest: Haha

I do not own LOTR, only Clem and this guide ;)

Lord of the Rings Fanfiction Guide

Different Universes

In the Lord of the Rings archive, there are three different 'worlds/universes' in which your story can take place: Alternate, Book, and Movie. You may be asking yourself: "What the crap is she talking about? I thought there was only one world and that was Middle-earth?" Well, these worlds are what a story is based off of. Let me go into more detail.

Alternate: Honestly, all hell can break loose in Alternate. That means that the author doesn't have to follow any set storyline and can go completely a-wall. I'm going to regret saying this, but when you're in the Alternate, you can officially make the characters do whatever you want because you're not following any set guidelines. But PLEASE don't tell me I gave you the idea that you made Legolas emo and Aragorn an all-sunshine-and-rainbows character because I said that T_T Most parodies and cracks are set in the Alternate Universe (commonly known as AU ). There are also stories where like the Fellowship are regular humans and how they would be in modern society, but those aren't as plentiful. But not everything in the Alternate is all fun and happy. There are also some pretty dark stories that make you question your life – trust me, I've been there.

Book: The Book Universe (let's call it BU for short) is where all of the Purists sit. A story set in the BU follows the actual fine print of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That means instead of just watching the movie and quoting from it, they actually buy the book and read from it to see what the characters in there are saying. They make the characters act like how they are in the book and most of the stories are about canon characters going on journeys and whatnot with very few Original Characters in them. The BU is the strictest of the three because Purists like to point out small details not many people catch that were written down so you'll get bit in the butt for that. Don't get me wrong – a LOT of the greatest LOTR fanfictions come from the BU because they're so detailed and it's absolutely wonderful. I tried writing my fanfiction in Book-form and it is A LOT of work so don't make fun of people who only write in BU. They are TOUGH.

Movie: The movies are what brought me into the fandom and what I usually use. That goes the same for a lot of other fanfic authors on here, too. It's easy just to look up the script on the internet and then copy-and-paste it onto your document and go with the storyline set in the Movies. Since it gives you a visual of what the characters and surroundings may look like, it is a much easier piece of cake to chew on than BU. The only thing is that the movies were based off of the book, so naturally Peter Jackson changed some things and skipped over some scenes. But the people who didn't read the books don't know the extra details like who Goldberry is or what Legolas sings, and that drives a wedge between Purists and, what I like to call, Movie-Goers.

And that is why people argue over the Book and Movies so much.

Like I said before, the movies are sort of like a fanfiction to the books. They don't follow every word said and like to come up with new ideas. I specifically remember that the books didn't give ANY details on what Legolas looked like besides that he was dressed in light armor and had a bow and arrows on his back. For all we know, Tolkien could've envisioned him to have green eyes and brown hair. But Jackson created Legolas the way he is now. Another thing that irked Purists (and I'm honestly a little disappointed about it as well) is that they didn't mention Tom Bombadil or Goldberry in the movies. Then there was the fact that the movies had Boromir's death in The Fellowship of the Ring when in the book he didn't actually say it until The Two Towers. To be honest, they exaggerated Boromir's death, but I'm glad they did it. I honestly hate the idea of people just coolly brushing it off like it was nothing. But then again, in the book Tolkien had given Boromir more depth entirely (I wish he would've talked more about Boromir's death, though).

Both the movies and the books have their pros and cons, but honestly, I prefer the movies. I blame the fact that they were the first to be presented to me, so I initially grew on them. Don't get me wrong, the books are amazing. It's just deciphering the words from the way Tolkien wrote them to having them so I could understand them is a bit tiring. I'll read the books any day, but I would pick the movies over the books. I enjoy both sides of fanfiction, too, but Purists sort of scare me sometimes on how specific they can be (NOT IN ANY OFFENSIVE WAY! I LOVE YOU GUYS!).

However, there are fanfictions that try to combine the three. Let's say they'll have a movie-set story, but they'll add in increments from the books and throw a little fun from the AU while they're at it. I've done this before, but not correctly, so it was a little sloppy. But if you do it in a cleanly, it can be completely awesome. There are some authors that can blend the three so well, its blows your mind on how they did it.

But before you start declaring war on other Universes, try them all out first. Read a decent AU fanfiction, then a Movie, and a Book. Compare the tools the author uses from each set and see which one you like the best. Some people love AU's freedom while others like the Movie's visual and then there's the ones who love the Book's everlasting details. Please try to get along, though. Nobody likes watching their own fandom roar at each other on the different ways they write their fanfictions.

*Random Story Time*

Lounging by the fire, Clem's watched as the Fellowship moved to and fro. The Hobbits were chattering among themselves, sipping their broth and occasionally laughing. Gimli and Boromir were comparing their weapons, remarking on how they could change a few things to help them in combat. Legolas was perched on a tree and keeping watch, and from what she remembered, Aragorn was getting firewood.

She knew this time around was set on the Movie's storyline, and she was grateful for that. The Book was definitely the easiest to manage with only a few slash problems, and the AU always had her up a wall. Mary-Sues were definitely the problem for the Movies, but this time wasn't as bad. On her twenty-second time around, she counted over half a thousand Sues flocking in and out from the trilogy. Her grip tightened on Russia at the thought, shivers running down her spine. This was her seventy-fourth time; she should be used to it. Should.

Loud cackling came from Merry, and she turned her attention to him with a quirked eyebrow. "…yeah, I got eighteen likes on it so far." He was saying joyfully. "Sure told him my selfies were better!"

Legolas' head snapped towards him, a look of blazing fury growing on his fine features. "What did you just say?" He snarled, dropping from the branch. "There is no way you could've gotten more likes than me!"

Merry smirked and held his iPhone fifth generation out to the Elf. "Suck it, loser!"

"WHAT?!" Legolas shrieked, his clothes poofing from Elven armor to a flamboyantly orange tuxedo with a maroon tie. "That's it! I'm calling Ada to tell him to send my Fall Wardrobe up here!"

Groaning, Clem got to her feet and took a bright green bottle out of her bag. Walking over to the bickering men, she yanked Merry's mouth open and poured the contents down his throat. He coughed and spluttered a bit, but it got down. His hipster glasses and Vans disappeared, and he acted like nothing ever happened. Doing the same to Legolas, the Elf stood there confused on why he was holding a rock up to his pointed ear.

Shaking her head, Clem sat back down and drifted off to sleep.

The answer was C. 13

POP QUIZ:

What is the name of the newly introduced Ellyth in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug?

a. Tathiel

b. Tauriel

c. Tatathiel

b. Tatathriel

Also, before you go, I want to inform y'all that I'm writing a sequel to my really old and outdated We're in Middle Earth! Although WIME was a fail, I'm hoping to redeem it with Back in Middle-earth!

See, even the title's different!

But here's a summary of it:

ALTERNATE ENDING FOR WE'RE IN MIDDLE EARTH!: Coralyn and Abby were never sent back to Middle-earth. Instead, they continued to live their lives "normally" for a whole nine years. But then the two are yanked back in by an unknown force, making them face Coralyn's inner demons that she thought she was rid of from before. It is time for the Prophecy to unfold...

Anywho, I put up like a small snippet in WIME if you wanna read it. I'm gonna try to wiggle Coralyn and Abby out of their Suedom and show people how much I've progressed in writing. If you're interested in it, let me know. But if you haven't read the prequel, I suggest just skimming over it :P

Anywho, thanks for listening and please review, favorite, and/or follow :D
