Chapter 7
So so so sorry for being so late for updating. I hope this long chapter will make up for it. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me. Also I own nothing expect for my OC. Please review and forgive me.
Beth opens her violet eyes and slowly sits up. She gives a big yawn than the calendar catches her eye.
'Today is the party that Michael has plan. Every officer of the Yard will be here tonight,' she though and slowly gets out of bed. 'At least I'll get to see Holmes again. I haven't seen him since that art incident. I miss him so much.'
Lestrade's heart starts to hurt at the thought of Holmes. She went to shower and change into comfortable clothes. Michael and her are going shopping before the party begins; he's buying her a new dress.
'Michael is such a sweetheart, but he'll never be Sherlock Holmes. I wonder what Holmes will be wearing at the party? I wonder if he'll even notice me? I wonder if he'll talk or dance with me? What am I thinking? This is Sherlock Holmes, not just any man on the street. Why do I have these feelings for him?' She looks around the empty room and rub her arms. 'Do I love Sherlock Holmes? No, better question does Sherlock Holmes has feelings for me?'
Sherlock Holmes put his Victorian suit with a matching top hat. He looks in the mirror and sighs.
'I can't believe I'm going to this party. It's all a trap, I guess it's because of Beth's safety. As Beth will say let's get this over with.'
Holmes smile at the last thought and meets Watson and the Irregulars at the door. Deidre is wearing a long yellow dress that fits her body perfectly and her hair in a bun. Wiggins and Tennyson are wearing modern tuxes. While Watson is wearing a fancy coat that covers his robot body.
"Is everybody ready to go?" asked Holmes.
"Yes."
"Then let's go."
They finally arrive at Sir Jones' home and enter the ball room. Everyone who works in the Yard is here dancing. Holmes scans the room in search for a certain lady. He tells the others to mingle with everybody and observe for strange behavior. Sherlock walks through the crowd; his eyes search for a certain inspector.
'Where is she?' he thought than something catches his eye.
A woman in a long sliver dress that fit her body; it has an opening for her leg to pop out. Her shoes are sliver high heels exposing her toes with black nail polish and purple flowers. She has her hair in a bun with a strand of blonde in her face. But what made Holmes stare is her eyes; they're violet.
"Beth," he whispers with excitement.
He makes his way towards her, but stop at the sight of a man standing next to her. It's the no other Sir Jones; he's in a fancy modern suit and has an arm around Beth. Sherlock feels anger built up inside him, he walks away to join Watson. He watch as Beth laughs at all of Sir Jones' jokes and she's getting closer to him. As they were talking a song plays and the guests begin to dance. Holmes smile when he sees Wiggings and Deidre dancing. Than his heart clench in pain as he sees Beth dancing with Sir Jones.
"Go on Holmes," said Watson.
"I beg your pardon?" he asks and continues to stare at the beautiful inspector.
"Go dance with Lestrade." Holmes want to deny it but Watson cuts him off. "I know you have feelings for her and don't deny it."
"I do have feelings for her, but I don't know if she does for me."
"Than talk to her, see if she does. If you don't, you'll question yourself about this moment. Just go and dance with her."
Holmes nodded and walks to Beth and Sir Jones, the song change and everybody begins to slow dance. Before Michael could be his arms around her, Holmes taps his shoulder.
"May I cut in?"
Sir Jones looks at Lestrade than gives a small nod. He whispers something in her ear and walks away. Holmes grabs Beth's hand and wrap his arm around her waist, she copies his motion and they dance. The song 'You and Me' by Lifehouse, it may be old but it's so beautiful and perfect for slow dancing.
What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive. I can't keep up and I can't back down. I've been losing so much time.
Holmes smells her perfume, even though it ruins her tough image it smells beautiful. Never in his life, he hasn't met a woman like her.
Cause it's you and me and all of the people and nothing to do, nothing to lose. And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't know why? I can't keep my eyes off of you.
Ever since Holmes was brought back to life, he felt alone but it was Beth who made him feel welcome. He never thanked her.
All of the things that I want to say, just aren't coming out right. I'm tripping on words…you've got my head spinning, I don't know where to go from here.
The days Beth has been with Sir Jones were the worst for Holmes. He felt lonely and tried to talk to her more but no words came out.
Because it's you and me and all of the people. Nothing to do, nothing to prove. You and me and all of the people and I don't know why? I can't keep my eyes off of you.
Something about you now…I can't quite figure out. Everything she does is beautiful, everything she does is right. Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to lose. And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't know why I can't keep my eyes off of you.
Holmes is amaze by her detective work and the dedication she has for it. She the type of woman who won't make the same mistake twice. Every move she makes causes his heart to flutter, like a spark.
And it's you and me and all of the people, nothing to prove. And it's you and me and all of the people and I don't know why? I can't keep my eyes off of you.
Beth rest her head on his shoulder, he couldn't help but smile. Sherlock pulls her closer to him.
'I love her.'
What day is it? And in what month? This clock never seemed so alive.
The song ended and they broke their embrace. They stare into each others' eyes.
"Can I have a word with you in private?" he whispers in his ear.
"Sure," said Lestrade and leads him out of the ballroom to the study. "What is that you need to talk about?"
"Lestrade, these past days without you is…"
He was interrupted by Sir Jones entering the study. Anger once again builds up in Holmes.
"Sorry to bother you two, but I was seeing what's going on?"
"Michael, Sherlock needs to tell me something and asked for privacy. So if you don't mind if we use your study," she says with a small smile.
He smiles back, "Of course. Please don't take too long, I do want to have another dance with you."
"Of course Michael."
Holmes could tell that she's excited and wants it. Sir Jones leaves and they're alone once again.
"Sorry Holmes, you were saying?" Sherlock wants to say something but nothing came out. "Holmes?"
"Do you have feelings for Sir Jones?"
Lestrade is startled by the question, "Look Holmes, Michael is sweet, charming, and made me feel welcomed in his home."
"You didn't answer my question. Do you have feelings for him?"
"Would it be a problem?"
"I don't trust him."
"You don't trust him."
"Yes, I mean this plan is nothing but a bad idea and you know that. How did Sir Jones come up with a plan so fast?"
"He's smart, he teaches math at New London University. Believe it or not they're smart people in the 22nd century."
"Lestrade, you're getting distracted by his looks and charm. Don't you see he's trying to get you on his side. By buying you dresses and taking you out."
"Holmes, I don't have any dresses and I'm his body guard. I have to follow him."
"Beth, he's using you."
"How is he using me?"
"By making you do everything with him and get you distracted from your detective work."
"He's not distracting me! Michael's been appreciating everything I doing for him. You could learn something from him you know!"
"Why do I want to learn from that man?"
"Cause you've never appreciated anything I've done for you." Holmes sees tears forming in her eyes. "I brought you back to life. I gave you my robot Watson. I got Baker Street back for you. I almost lost my job and not to mention my life for you. Sherlock, all I wanted is a thank you. Is that too much to asked?"
Silence fell upon the two detectives. They hear the fire cracking. Holmes want to apologize to her for everything and hold her close to him, but something else came out.
"I should have never let you be his body guard. Cause you've been in danger since day one and you have the nerve to agree with him on his plan."
He crossed the line.
"Are you implying that I'm weak and can't take care of myself?! I never agreed to his plan, Greyson did! I didn't want to be his body guard, but he choose me! Holmes, I think you're just jealous."
"I don't get jealous Lestrade."
"Everybody gets jealous Sherlock, you're just to proud to admit it!"
"I admit to nothing." He walk towards the doors and place his hand on the handle. Before he walks out, he turn his head to her. "Enjoy the rest of your evening with Sir Jones. Who knows you might be his wife in the future."
With that said Holmes left, Beth stares in shock than sadness. She sits in the closest chair and starts to cry.
'Holmes doesn't want me,' she thought as more tears fell.
Than a hand touches her shoulder that made her jump. She turns around to see Michael, Beth quickly wipes away her tears.
"Sorry Lestrade, I didn't mean to scare you."
"It's alright."
"What's wrong?"
"I really don't want to talk about it."
"Lestrade, did Sherlock Holmes hit you?"
"What? No, Sherlock would never hit me."
"But it looks like he hurt you."
"I'll be fine Michael, just go and enjoy the rest of the party."
"I would if I could," he said as he walk towards the doors and windows to make sure there close. "But I can't."
"What do you mean?" she asked as she stands up.
"Lestrade, you need a friend right now."
He pulls Beth in his arms and rubs small circles on her back. Lestrade let the floodgates open. She didn't care if she looks weak; her heart is broken. Than she feels Michael's hand touching her butt. Beth was about to say something till he press his lips against her. He force his tongue in her mouth, Beth tries to get him to stop. But he pushes her against a book shelf. Than he stops kissing her.
Lestade slaps him across the face and yells, "What are you thinking?!"
"I thought you might have liked it," he said as he rub his cheek.
"Liked it? Michael, I don't like you."
"Oh, it's ashamed."
"What do you mean?" she growls.
"Cause Beth, you're beautiful and amazing. Perfect in every way." He stokes her cheek, Lestrade slaps his hand away. "Come on Beth, Sherlock obviously doesn't want you or else he would have already solve the case. I mean my clues couldn't have stump him that much."
Lestrade's eyes wide, "You made the clues, so nobody was threatening you. You set it all up!"
"Indeed, I did."
"Why?!"
"This first clue will clear my reasons," Michael said as he pulls out a folded up piece of paper. He begins to read the paper out loud:
"To my true love. I admire everything about you and I hate to be far from you. I know you're being treated badly and you deserve better. Don't worry I'll come and get you soon. You'll always be in my heart."
"Who's your true love?"
"You Elizabeth." Her eyes widen, he rest his hands on her shoulders."We've be separated for too long. Now it's time for us to be together."
"The only time we'll be together is in court where you will go to jail."
Lestrade grabs his arm and flips him, she quickly runs to the door. She opens it and sees Holmes, Watson, Greyson, and the Irregulars talking. A small smile form on her face as she was about to run towards them, but Michael grabs her arm and yanks her back in the room. He made sure the door is close than he grabs Lestrade's wrists.
"You won't get away with this," she growls and tries to break free.
"My dear Lestrade, I already have."
Before she can say another word, Beth feels something stab her in the arm. She looks to see a figure dress in black than her vision becomes blurry and everything is spinning. Lestrade fell into Michael's arms and he's laughing, but his laugh is different and familiar. Beth lets the darkness take over her.
