After the third wheel date from hell I crawled into my bed slowly, feeling sleepiness rise inside me like a flood. I slid far down under the blankets, pulling them up to my chin as I closed my eyes and succumbed to sleep...
"Daisy, get the door for me please."
I blinked a couple times as I realized I was no longer in my bed but I was standing in the kitchen of my parents house with a bowl of stuffing being stirred in my hands. I looked over and saw my mom taking a plump turkey out of the oven, humming happily. I shook my head and placed the bowl on the counter as I headed to the door trying to understand what was going on. I reached the large front door and opened it. Joe was stood there, his arms full of presents.
"Dukes! I brought you the best present on earth," he announced, grinning from ear to ear.
"And that would be?" I replied with an arched eyebrow.
"Me," a boy said from over his shoulder.
I stood on tiptoes and peered over my brother. He stepped forward, revealing a very cold looking Brendan. My breath caught in my throat as Brendan stepped forward and embraced me in a tight hug.
"What?"
"That's the thanks I get for bringing you, your boyfriend on Christmas Eve?" Joey laughed, looking a little taken aback at my lack of a reaction.
"Boyfriend?" I muttered, confused.
"Did you hit your head Dukes?" Brendan asked, lifting his hands to my face, placing one on each cheek.
"I'm beginning to think so." I whispered under my breath.
"Man, what did you do to make her act like she forgot you completely?" Joey laughed in Brendan's direction.
"Dating? What's going on?" I thought, wringing my hands.
"Dukes come with me."
He had grabbed my elbow, leading my up the stairs, perplexed. I looked around the house trying to figure out what the heck was going on. I blinked as he led me to my bedroom. The furniture all had been moved to the sides of the room, and a cheap-looking Persian rug sat in the middle of the floor. Camera Obscura was playing on an old tape player by the window. He sat me down on the bed and put his hands on my shoulders.
"Are you okay Daisy?" he asked.
"Uh yeah I'm excellent." I quickly said.
"Hmm good. We have 2 months to make up for!"
"2 months for what?" I asked.
"Daisy. I've been on tour. You sure you're okay?"
"Oh yeah. Uh yeah."
Brendan shook his head smiling at me. I placed my hand to his cheek lightly touching the stubble as he leaned in and pressed his lips to mine.
I sprung up from my bed trying to catch my breath. I pressed a hand to my sweaty forehead even though the room was freezing. I looked around the room making sure I was in my room.
"Oh shit."
