Chapter 7
"So you and David are getting pretty close huh?" Erica said as she nonchalantly walked up next to Liza who was waiting at the bar at Krystal's.
"And you know this how?"
"I saw the two of you having dinner the other night."
"And so two people can't share a meal?"
"If one of those two people is David Hayward, no, they can't."
"So what if we did? Why do you care if David and I have dinner?"
"I don't. I just thought it was interesting."
"Well I saw Jack and Krystal having dinner too. What's up with that?"
"They're just friends."
"Krystal was staring at him like a piece of meat. I'd hardly call that, friends. You might want to warn you're fiancé about her."
"Trust me I've tried." She said, quickly hating herself for letting that slip. "I mean, he knows. He just pities her situation with Tad. He's trying to be a friend."
"Oh so that's why they're having drinks tonight?"
"They're what?" She said half surprised, and calming down. Could she sound any more jealous?
"I heard Jack ask Krystal out for drinks tonight." Liza said, knowing full well how the whole thing went down.
"Oh Yes, he told me about that." She lied. "I have a business meeting with Caleb." It was a partial truth. She had plans with Caleb, if she could get him to answer the phone. "And I'll be late if I don't leave now. Bye Liza." She said hurrying out the door to make another call to Caleb.
"Hey Jack, sorry I was running a little late. Jenny and Kathy wanted me to read them a book before I left."
"Aw, that's no problem. I know kids come first."
"Thanks. I've been looking forward to tonight."
"Yes me too. What can I get you?"
"I'll take some wine. A red."
"Okay, I'll be right back." Jack said, getting up and walking to the bar. Krystal watched him walk over but quickly caught sight of Erica and Caleb walking in. They took a seat at a table on the balcony. And she eyed them up.
"Why did you bring me here Dorothy?" Caleb asked of Erica.
"I told you I changed my mind about working with you."
"Why? I don't think Jack is going to change his mind."
"Well Jack doesn't have a say in this."
"Why not?" He asked, catching a glimpse of Jack and Krystal sitting at a table down below.
"Oh I see now."
"What?" She asked, looking in the same direction as he did.
"So did he dump you or is he cheating on you?" He asked referring to the site they both saw.
"Jack and I are taking a break."
"A break. His words or yours?"
"Well, mine."
"I don't think he'll agree with your assessment of the situation." He meant of the closeness he was watching of the couple before them.
"We came here to talk business, so let's do that."
"Whatever you say Dorothy." He said turning his eyes back on her. He knew what she was up too. Either to make Jackson jealous or to take her missed opportunity with him. It wasn't going to work. He wasn't going to play her games.
David and Liza were in the middle of their dinner at the Valley Inn. She had met him after her run in with Erica. "Did you know that Erica is keeping tabs on you? Well us?"
"Oh is she?"
"Yes she told me that she thought we were getting awfully close."
"That's Erica. Always needing to know what everyone else is doing."
"Well she seems extra curious about what you're doing David. It seems as though Jack and
Krystal are getting close too."
"Oh you don't say. Not that I'm surprised." David told her. He had already known about Erica's situation with her men for the last couple of weeks. That's what happens when you spend as much time with Erica Kane in the middle of that mess as he did.
"No I could see that's the way it was headed too."
"Let's not worry about that. Why don't we focus on us, what we plan on doing?"
"How do you mean?"
"Come on Liza, when we both agreed to dinner, we weren't talking about eating food."
"We weren't? Pretty sure I was thinking about food, being paid for by you."
"Maybe, but I still want to eat the food."
"Well we ate. So…"
"Who's place is closer?" She finished, realizing he could read her good. "My penthouse is on the west side of town."
"The Yacht Club is only a few blocks. I'll drive." He said as they both finished up and left.
"Oh this wine is really good Jack."
"Yes it is. Is this our first or second bottle?" He asked as he picked up and shook the empty bottle in front of him.
"I think second. After you saw Erica up there with Caleb you ordered the second one."
"Oh yeah. I think I remember."
"You okay Jack?" She asked as he stared at her.
"I was just thinking, I really want to kiss you. Is that okay?'
"Well I don't think you needed to ask. That's not what guys do." At least in her mind she
didn't want him to ask. She had been waiting all night for this.
"Okay, right." He said as he leaned up off his chair and he kissed her.
"That was nice." She said as he moved back to his seat. "But I don't think we should be doing that out here, you know, in front of all these people."
"Yeah, I guess we shouldn't." He said, fairly intoxicated now.
"You have a room here right? Why don't we go up there?" She suggested.
"That's a good idea." He said, getting up and helping Krystal up. He led her to his room and they went inside.
"Did you see that?" Caleb said in shock, not really believing what he saw.
"What was it?"
"Well Jack stuck his tongue down Krystal's throat. And then they headed in that way." He said pointing to the entrance to the hotel.
"What? Tell me you're joking." Erica exclaimed almost choking on her meal.
"I'm not kidding Dorothy."
Krystal had moved them toward the bed, pushing Jack down on to it with a shove from her hands. "Krystal, maybe we should…"
"This is fine Jack." She said as she removed her top, crawling on top of him. "You know I've had my eye on you for months, maybe even a year." She said as she unbuttoned his shirt.
"Don't you think we're moving a little fast?" He half asked half said.
"Not at all. It's so much better when you're in the moment, fast, hard. Does Erica like it slow? Poor boy."
"Well, it's nice to…" He started before she cut him off by kissing him.
"Let's not talk about that. You can do whatever you like with me. Anything you'd like to do I've done before. Don't worry about being bad."
"Oh, um, okay." He said, a little intimidated by her eagerness. That's when they heard it. They both stopped and took a closer listen. There was a banging noise coming from the room next door. Followed by a few moans and then some more banging.
"It sounds like someone already beat us too it." Krystal commented on it.
"Maybe we should go tell them to keep it down?" Jack suggested.
"No, let's use that. See if we can beat them. Show them how it's really done." She said, a gleam in her eye as she undid his pants.
That noise in the next room just so happened to be David's room. And that banging noise was the desk that Liza was currently perched on hitting the wall. They almost had each other's clothes off before they made it in the door of the room. David was practically hard in the elevator and Liza thought that was quite a good sign when she stuck her hand down his pants while he opened the door. As soon as they made it in the room she pushed the door closed and practically jumped into his arms, wrapping her legs around him causing him to fall back against the door. He had already taken her panties off in the elevator, and put them in his pocket. At least he thought he did. The desk had been the closest thing to the door and they practically fell onto the desk as he moved with her on him. She had worn a skirt, which he appreciated and it only took a few seconds until he was riding her on the desk. Both of them would moan each others name, which was obviously inaudible to Krystal and Jack who were in the next room. By the time they were finished, David's thighs were bruised from hitting the front of the desk and Liza's back was bruised from the sliding against the top of the desk. "Good thing we decided to eat dinner first." David said as he collapsed on top of her.
