Suddenly I wasn't in a hallway staring down and angry Dimitri Belikov. But lying under a pine wood cladded roof. I sat up quickly to only be knocked back down. I groaned and opened my eyes. Beside me was Isla, rubbing a large red spot on her forehead.

"Isla?" I asked confused. Rubbing my own sore spot on my forehead.

"Ouch, Good morning to you to Gavin." She laughed, sitting up on her knees. '

"What's going on, Where's Dimitri?" I asked still confused. I sat up too –slowly- to not aggravate my sore head.

"Are you still drunk?" Isla laughed again, it was like musical notes.

"No, yes? Maybe. I have no idea what's going on, I swear we already went through this."

"Uhm, how hard did you bump your head, because you fell asleep last night about as soon as we got here." She grinned, playing with her hair.

"What? We didn't have sex?" I asked dumbfounded.

Isla spluttered. "What no!? I told you in the club that I wanted to play monopoly. We got back here you got out the board, set everything up. Decided you were bank, I went out of the room to see if there were drinks. When I go back you were asleep." She giggled.

I just stared at her. "So we didn't have bad sex, an awkward walk home and I didn't kiss my best friend?" I said in a rush of air. I wasn't sure if she understood a word.

"You're crazier than I thought, Gavin." She removed herself from the bed, she was wearing what I guessed was one of Adrian's shirts as a nightie. "And I'm a little offended! Why in your dreams did we have horrible sex?" she pouted playfully.

"Uhhh… I have no idea honestly. But I can't tell you how glad I am that it was all just a crazy drunken dream!" I laughed relived.

Isla came around to my side of the bed and put her hands out to me. I placed mine in hers and I felt a tingle through my fingertips. Isla must have felt it too because she gave me a coy little smile.

"Have anywhere you need to be?" she asked pulling me off the bed.

"No, nowhere." I grinned. I somehow knew that like in my dream Rose, Dean and the others would be waiting for me. But I didn't feel like being anywhere than with Isla. If we hadn't had horrible sex it could mean Isla and I could be together.

"Well . . ." she sing-songed. "How about we play that game of monopoly?" she grinned.

I couldn't help but laugh. She was so damn cute. "I would love that. But, on one condition."

"And what could that be?" she played along.

"I get to be the bank!" I said seriously. Isla and I both broke out into laughed. We gathered the gameboard from where Isla had pried it from under my face when i fell asleep on it.

"Well last time you were the bank I had no problem stealing all the money from the poor towns people." She smiled.

"Hey I was asleep! Even bankers have to sleep sometimes Isla!" I smirked. "fine, you can be bank this time." I surrendered.

Isla bounced up on her tip toes and planted a kiss on my cheek.

After an 120 minute game Isla came away the victor. I had never in my life lost a game of Monopoly.

"You cheated!" I scoffed as we ate our lunch in the little kitchenette.

"I did not!" she laughed. "I'm just really good at Monopoly."

After we finished out peanut butter on rice crackers –the only thing in Adrian's cupboards- We headed back towards court. Hand in hand. Isla smiled at me brightly the whole time, I couldn't help back feel lightened by her happiness. It was contagious.

When we got to the housing buildings we bid farewell. But unlike my dream, I didn't want her to leave. I wanted her to stay. I wanted to pick apart her brain. To figure out everything, what made her tick. Her favourite colour, her dreams everything. When had I turned into such a sap.

Before Isla left I took both of her tiny hands in mine and gently tugged her forward. She complied moving closer to me, I could smell the peanut butter on her breath, I couldn't help but grin. Isla looked up at me through her lashes and I was undone. She was the cutest woman I'd ever seen.

I leant down the good foot difference between us while Isla stretched her neck and placed my lips against hers. Our first kiss was sweet, soft, and unforgettable. We were both smiling, I gave her lips a quick couple of little pecks.

"Our first kiss." She whispered, the tops of her cheeks turning an adorable shade of pink.

"I think I'd really like it if I could see you again Isla." I said honestly, still holding gently onto her hands.

Isla beamed and nodded. "I'd really love that Gavin. I had a really good time. Beating you at Monopoly was the highlight of my . . . well life!" she chuckled.

I shook my head in mock pity. "Hmm, well you live a pretty boring life then Miss." I joked.

"It was," she purred. "but I have a feeling it just got a whole lot more interesting." Isla slipped the iphone from my back pocket, typing in her number under 'AaIsla' with a little love heart. She also made sure to take a duck face selfie and set it as her display picture. She handed me the phone back and smiled. "text me, okay?" she yelled as she started walking down the lane way.

I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, but I have this rule I don't text a girl until a week after our first date." I called after her.

She turned her head at me and arched her brows, just shaking her head before disappearing behind a corner.

I was beaming Ear to ear as I walked to my apartment. As I got into the elevator I got out my phone.

'Dearest Isla. I know I said I would wait a week, but for you I think I can break my rules. I loved hanging out with you. How does lunch tomorrow sound? Xx'

Within seconds my phone lit up.

'My hearts fire. I count the seconds until I doth lay my eyes uponus you. I shall see-ith you in the morrow. Until then, my every breath will be a quiet whisper – I love you…. '

I stepped over the threshold of my apartment as I read Isla's message. I couldn't help the laughter that took hold of me reading what she had written. When I looked up from the phone, I saw Rose, Adrian and Dean looking back at me, with curious expressions. It was so similar to my dream that I had a crazy deja-vu head spin.

"Where have you been mister, I have been worried sick about you." Dean shouted in a fake serious voice.

"I've been out dad." I laughed.

"With who?" Asked Rose, smiling sweetly. I couldn't help the guilty drop in my stomach when I looked at her. I knew that I hadn't actually made out with her, but I had in my dreams and that was bad enough. I was not the kind of guy who kissed another guys, girlfriend. And I was severely disappointed in my dream self.

"A girl I met at the Bar, Isla." I grinned.

"Ooooh," Rose cooed. "I can already tell by that gushy grin on your mug that you're WHOOP-SHHHH whipped! bitch!" she laughed. Adrian and Dean joined in.

I shrugged my shoulders, shoving Deans feet off my coffee table and taking a seat beside him.

"Yeah, I think she's a keeper. I really like her." I took out my phone and showed them the message she sent me. They actually all smiled at it.

"Dude, I hate to say it. But she does sound like a catch. A broad with looks, and a sense of humour? That's . . . rare." Dean said.

"Well thanks man." I laughed slapping him lightly on the shoulder. "We are going to go get lunch together tomorrow. I think I'd like to get to know her better."

"I'm so glad that you've met someone Gav." Rose beamed. "You deserve a good lady in your life—' Rose was cut off by a ringing in her coat pocket. She pulled out her phone and looked at the caller idea. It was obviously Dimitri because she practically melted as she put the phone to her ear.

"Comrade." She greeted him playfully. I couldn't help but smile as Rose excused herself out of the room. I was again so glad that my dream was that, just a dream. I thought Rose was amazing. But she was meant to be with Dimitri! All the things they had been through together! There was no way in hell I was getting in-between that. I think I would rather take on a Strigoi then an angry Dimitri.

"I'm glad you've found a good chick and all that Gav, bro. But I hope you don't turn into one of those 'We guys'again." Dean said putting his arm over my shoulder. I saw Adrian nodding his head in agreement.

"'We Guys'? I asked confused.

"Yeah, you know . . .'We can't come today, 'we' have couples yoga'. Or 'We would love to come to the strip club, but 'we' think that girls having to show their bodies for money is sad'.

"Or—' Adrian cut in. "My favourite, 'We think that you drink just a little bit too much, especially before lunch.'" I looked at them both my brow arched.

"Okay. Well, I guess I will try not to become a 'we' guy?" I laughed. "is that good enough?"

"yeah man." Dean nodded putting his hand out to me. I shook it and pulled him in, he gave me a rough pat on the back then stood up. "Got any food in the fridge yet, I'm bloody starving." He groaned.

"You Australian's." Adrian muttered shaking his head. "You're always hungry."

"You American's." Dean called out from the kitchen. "Always a pack of cock-heads."

"Aw," Adrian pretended to look wounded. "That one was way harsh man." He laughed.

Dean threw the mouldy banana from my fridge at Adrian, it missed him completely but splattered all over the coffee table. Bits of it did ricocheted and land on Adrian, but just the look on his face was priceless.

Dean and I roared with laughter, Adrian joined in too, laughing along at himself. Rose picked that time to come back into the room, She took one look at us laughing, the smooshed banana, and Adrian's banana chunk covered form and shook her head in mock disgust.

"Men." She tutted, coming around to stand in front of us, and the table. "Who throws Mouldy bananas? What are you guys 8?" she asked, putting her hands on her hips. "I leave the room for 10 minutes and you turn into a bunch of Neanderthals." She bent down to pick up the banana. I think we all assumed after her lecture she was going to put it in the bin.

But half a second later I was wearing a mashed banana as an assessory. She had hit me square in the forehead. Bits had ended up in my eyelashes, my hair, shirt and all over my face. I tried to wipe some off, standing up.

"Oh, you did not just do that!" I roared playfully. Rose put her hands up in surrender, I had enough left over mushed banana in my hand that I could do some damage to the clean looking hair of hers.

"No Gavin, no! we're friends… I just washed my hair.." she pleaded, putting on her best puppy dog eyes. Dean and Adrian were laughing behind me.

I jumped out at Rose, wiping the Banana in her hair, out of nowhere Adrian and Dean sprung out behind Rose. Dean squished a tomato in her hair and Adrian poured Milk over her head. By this stage she put her hands up to shield her hair and the milk ended up all over the four of us.

Rose's ear-piercing squeal almost burst my ear drums. "My Hair!" she squealed, wiping the muck out of her hair. Unfortunately Dean was the nearest and he ended up with a combination of whatever was in Rose's hair right in his face. The four of us smeared crap all over each other, at one stage the flour and the honey came out, after a good 10 minutes of the world most intense food fight, we sat on the floor in a kind of circle on my soiled, sticky floor, absolutely peeing our pants with laughter. We were all disgustingly filthy.

And that—is when Queen Vasilisa chose to grace us with her presence. She came in, worlds ready on her tongue but stopped dead in her tracks where she saw us. Her eyes bulging out of her head. She covered her mouth and let out the loudest laugh I had ever heard from our Queen.

"What are you four idiots doing?!" she snorted. "Poor Gavin's house keeper, I hope you guys were going to at least try to clean this up!" she laughed.

Rose put her arm out to her best friend, asking her to help her up. Roses arm was disgusting, it was covered in honey, juice from the tomatoes, plastid in gross chunks of bananas and floured lightly with white powder.

Lissa looked down at her friend with her nose scrunched up. "Rose, I'm not going to help you up, you're filthy." She laughed, shaking her head.

Then suddenly Rose was grabbing at Lissa's pale hand and then she was down on the floor too amongst the mushy banana and the carton of milk. Lissa looked like a stunned cow. I don't think she realised what her friend had just done. Rose was laughing away like a nutter. But the rest of us including Lissa's guardian's looked shocked and a little scared.

But to my serious surprise Lissa started giggling, her hand scooping as much muck as her delicate hands could hold and slapping it into Roses completely un-ready face. Then the two of them were rolling around the goop pelting each-other with food.

We were all frozen in shock, everyone except Adrian –he looked like he was the proudest friend in the world- . I think we all forgot sometimes just how young Lissa was. She was such an amazing and dedicated Queen, I could see even in the short time I guarded her that being a Queen was draining her 'youth'.

It was great to see them both Let loose. After Rose and Lissa ended up side by side on the ground out of breath and covered in muck we headed to the Queens courters. We were carefullto avoid heavy traffic areas, but Lissa didn't seem to mind that a few people saw her covered in mushed food. But I had to admit. She wore it well, her head held high.

When we entered the Queen's courters Christian and Dimitri were in the living room. Christian on the couch watching 'Opera', Dimitri always the picture of the perfect guardian, close by watching everything. Both of their eyes snapped up shocked at our appearance.

"What happened?" Dimitri asked seriously. His eyes quickly assessing Rose and the Queen for any injuries. "Who did that to you? Were you attacked?" He rushed forward, his eyes on Rose.

"No, of course not." Rose scoffed. "I did it." She laughed. "Well, Gavin, Dean, Adrian and I did it to each other, but I did that.' Rose pointed at Lissa who was currently dripping sloppy banana on her expensive looking carpet. Lissa was still beaming.

"I helped do that." Lissa pointed at her best friend, her eyes lighting up. Rose bumped her hip gently against Lissa's, the girls giggled.

Dimitri still looked confused, but Christian stood from the chair, coming over to his girlfriend and putting his hands on her messy hips.

"Well I think you look more beautiful right now than anyone else I have ever seen after a food fight." He smirked at her, and she beamed brighter, her arms carefully wrapping around Christian's neck. He ddin't even seem to flinch at the fact he was now too covered in a mess of food.

"Come your majesty," he practically purred. "Let us go get you cleaned up." Lissa followed behind Christian as he led her into the bathroom.

Rose and I looked at each other and laughed. She flitted over to Dimitri and pressed up on her Tippy toes, He leant down and planted his lips against hers. It was a slow sweet kiss. When Rose pulled away, Dimitri Licked his lips and laughed. A Deep throaty sound.

"You taste like honey . . . and tomatoes. Not my favourite combination." His lips quirked up in a half smirk and Rose laughed.

"Well we should go too Comrade, I'm in desperate need of a shower." She laughed. "and I'm sure Gavin is too. But I'll be back later." She turned on me. "What about you Gavin? We're thinking of having a movie night in Lissa's private theatre, wanna come?" Rose asked, While Dimitri picked a large chunk of tomatoes out of his girlfriends hair.

"Yeah, I'd love too. Could I maybe bring a plus one, if she's available?" I asked.

"Of course!" Rose replied excitedly.

Rose and I separated at the elevator to take our separate showers. I took a selfie and sent it to Isla with a text asking her if she would like to come to the Queens courters and meet my friends. I got in the shower. Hopeful that I would return to a message agreeing to come. I already had butterfly's growing in my stomach at the thought of seeing Isla again.
