Recap of the last chapter

Morgan, being escorted by Fistpunch and the other viking, finally arrived at the island that the Hairy Hooligans moved to years ago, following the threat of Grimmel. He was amazed at just how much the vikings had adapted to a new island; huts as if they've been there before the vikings got to that island, and most impressively, a totem poll in the middle of one of the main villages, painted in the colours of the scales of all the dragons who used to be around. But most excitingly for Morgan, he met a bearded, late 20's-early 30's Hiccup, who managed to remember the 19 year old after recognising Morgan's general style.

CHAPTER 7: Talking with Hiccup

"But you look well different, I can't believe I'm seeing you in person again, like...oh my god..." Morgan said, bursting out with a bunch of natural chuckles, due to how excited he was at Hiccup remembering him.

"Yeah yeah, why don't you come on in for a bit? guys," Hiccup said, referring to Fistpunch and his other viking colleague, "we might be a while, so uh, do what you've gotta do, okay? he'll be alright with me for however long..."

Fistpunch and the other viking nodded. Fistpunch smiled at Morgan briefly, in which Morgan had nodded at him. The first viking walked down the wooden steps back towards Fistpunch, where they both proceeded to walk off. However, Fistpunch briefly looked back over at Morgan as he walked off with his other companion.

"Wow, you seem to have a ton on your hands...what's in there, Morgan?" Hiccup said, looking at Morgan's bag.

"I was actually planning on going to my educational place, I'll just call it that for now, so I have to take a ton of important stuff...but then out of a miracle I came back here from 'my' world, so it's pretty much useless apart from the fact it's got a few bits of food in it..."

"You have no idea how incredibly amazed I am at...you know, seeing you again, I thought you'd have left that night, but come on, you missed us vikings, didn't you?" Hiccup said.

"Well..." Morgan shrugged.

"Come on, you don't need to beat around the bush, you missed us, right?" Hiccup said, chuckling.

"You know what? yeah, I missed all of you guys, and I've missed the dragons even though-"

"The dragons-" Hiccup interrupted, before Morgan proceeded to finish off what Hiccup was about to sat.

"Even though they aren't around anymore...but man, I do wish they were..." Morgan finished.

"Come inside, we can catch up on a ton of things..." Hiccup said, walking inside his two-story wooden hut.

"Wait...you're a father now, aren't you? don't you have two kids? I don't wanna be intrusive or anything?" Morgan said.

"See, that's another thing I remember about you...you'd always know stuff that somebody who hasn't be...uh, yeah I do, but they're fast asleep upstairs, they won't wake up or anything, and Astrid's up there as well, taking care of them. We can kill off some time with a good old catch up..."

Morgan walked inside, and instantly, the scent of hay & raw wooden materials blasted his nose. He slowly closed the door, which looked like it was made from the outside skin of a tree trunk. There were some gaps at the bottom and top of it as a result. Hiccup's new hut consisted of a small hallway once you entered it, but Hiccup's 'workshop' room if you will, was situated on the bottom floor, through the right door of the small hallway. Through the left door was another room that had wooden steps going up to the second story, which was where Hiccup's two kids slept. Morgan walked through the right door, and almost instantly, he could tell that Toothless was one of his huge inspirations.

There were a bunch of wooden chairs with viking symbols on the top, painted in black and green, clearly from Toothless's eyes and scale colours. There was a huge desk at the back that stretched out to the point there were gaps on the left and right of it, so you could walk to the back or front of it. That desk had a chiseled face of Toothless on it at the front. Evidently, wood was perfect for chiseling stuff.

And then the rest of the room was just your average viking room; in the corners were some barrels of metal materials, and there was a furnace that had raw coal inside it, but in the middle of the room were two chairs, both of which had viking symbols sculptured onto the top of them, made entirely out of wood also. These chairs were where Hiccup would take a break from inventions or smelting stuff for new swords or viking weaponry, so he could write notes to himself, similar to how he noted down a drawing of Toothless all those years ago when he was first studying the Night Fury, who was trying to fly out of the cove but couldn't.

"Oh man, I know this is gonna sound like...awkward but I just can't believe I've managed to find you...I have so much I wanna talk to you about man...it's..." Morgan let off another chuckle again, as he felt more energetic than ever.

"Have a seat, Morgan. Take a look at the designs I've done on here..." Hiccup said, pointing at his construction desk at the back of the room, and specifically, at the chiseled face of Toothless on the wood.

"That's Toothless...and these chairs are painted in black and uh, green, which was also from Toothless..." Morgan said.

"Yeah, that dragon's something any viking could wish for. But he's in the wild now, and hey, as long as he's happy being where he is, then so am I. But you have no idea how hard it was to let go...it...it was just like taking away a body part...we were just the bestest of friends, man..." Hiccup said.

Morgan placed his bag on the wooden floor, and proceeded to carefully sit down on the wooden chair opposite Hiccup in the middle of the room.

"Trust me, I felt the same way when it happened..." Morgan said, leaning forwards on the chair to place his hands together on his knees.

"So Morgan...wow, I haven't seen that clothing since you shoved me down at the cove...I assume you got a lot of weird looks from the others around here?" Hiccup asked.

Hiccup had recalled Morgan's clothing from when the now 19 year old first emerged; from Hiccup's memory, Morgan was wearing a red top and some sort of light blue trousers (they were jeans, but Hiccup obviously didn't know that).

"Not quite as much, but...oh my god, I keep repeating myself...I can't believe I'm actually back here...you know, seeing you again, YOU remembering ME, it's just amazing, I can't believe it...I wanna hug you, Hiccup, that's how excited I am to be back here...like...oh my gosh..." Morgan chuckled, energetically.

As a How To Train Your Dragon in his favourite 'fictional' world for a second time, Morgan's reactions were pretty much justified.

"Come on then, I'm not only happy to see you back, but I didn't expect to see you ever again, since you said at the time, I think, that you were gone for good, haha.." Hiccup said.

Hiccup and Morgan stood up, and instantly, Hiccup's height towered above Morgan's; more than ever, with Hiccup being in his early 30's most likely nowadays, Hiccup looked like a matured adult, and the beard definitely helped Hiccup with that. Morgan, meanwhile, didn't look all that different; he's only two years older from the last time he was in this world, after all. Hiccup was generally more manly than before. The two placed their arms around each other, and they proceeded to hug for about five seconds. Hiccup and Morgan had patted each other on the back. The second Morgan hugged Hiccup, he could smell coal; that was, again, to be expected, considering these guys were vikings.

After the hug, the two sat back down on the chairs.

"So where's Snotlout, Ruffnut, uh...you know, the others?" Morgan asked.

"They're all fine and well. You know uh...with Tuffnut being gone for all of these years, after...you know, what happened between you and him...I feel like Ruff's adapted pretty well...she's definitely more wiser for sure. Snotlout pretty much hasn't changed, he's just the same old clumsy lunatic who gets a laugh out of anything immature...and uh, with Ruffnut, we kinda messed up when-"

Morgan interrupted Hiccup again, in order to finish off what Hiccup was about to say.

"I know what happened. You left her behind at Grimmel's base when you tried to kill that guy, and you know what? it's quite funny, actually...Grimmel had actually let her go because of how annoying she was...and uh...what else...uh..." Morgan started clicking his fingers, trying to remember his knowledge, "oh yeah, then when she came back to you guys, Grimmel followed her...dunno if you knew that, but uh, yeah..."

"That would've been useful to know at the time, if I'm quite honest there, haha. But yeah, everything's been alright...we've grown a good vibe on this island, but here's the thing; going back to Berk would probably bring tears to my eyes, because uh...well...obviously, Toothless is his own 'king' if you will, and he isn't around anymore, nor are the dragons...and seeing Berk would remind me of the times the dragons and Toothless were with us..."

Morgan wanted to jump straight onto the topic of the dragons, following up from Hiccup.

"Oh yeah, speaking of which, didn't you and your kids go on a boat and uh...you know, with Astrid obviously, and uh, didn't you reunite with Toothless, alongside that Light Fury? they've got their little babies now haven't they? last time I checked, they were called Night Lights..." Morgan said.

"Oh come on, you're jumping straight ahead here, Morgan, haha...I'm not even gonna question how you know all of this, but...hold on a minute, something's just hit me...how old are you now?" Hiccup asked.

"19..."

"19? you were 17 when I last saw you...how does that work out? you should be about...uh...just about 27 or 26ish?"

"It's complicated, Hiccup, honestly, haha..."

"Yeah...I guess you truly are somebody from another type of world, I guess, haha...but uh, yeah, it was a few days ago actually that I saw Toothless and the Light Fury...it's funny how I'm talking about him not being with me anymore, even though I saw him a few days ago...but it's the fact that I'll probably never see him again after that small reunion...my two kids absolutely loved it, though...riding him, and then we got to see those little Night Light babies of theirs...some had green and blue eyes with combinations of black and white scales...they were sensational, not gonna lie..." Hiccup said.

"That Light Fury I don't like...not gonna lie, Hiccup...you know, she held some sort of grudge against you, and then especially when she knocked you off Toothless when you were trying to lead the others to a new island to escape Grimmel..."

Again, Hiccup wasn't even going to bother questioning how Morgan knew all of this.

"Between you and me, I didn't like her that much solely for the fact she'd drag Toothless away, but hey, they're dragons, and she's evidently a wild one, much like the ones in The Hidden World are...I guess it was his destiny to be in the wild...and it's my destiny nowadays to be in the shoes of my father..." Hiccup said.

Morgan was nervous. He wanted to ask Hiccup the 'money' question; if he could take Morgan himself to The Hidden World.

"Speaking of that, Hiccup...I was just wondering something..." Morgan said.

As Hiccup leaned over towards a nearby barrel containing his metal helmet, the helmet that's years old, Morgan started scratching his neck; he feared that Hiccup was simply going to say 'no' to the question.

"You know...I myself miss Toothless and the dragons...I wanna see em again, and you know, uh...when I left, Toothless was on my mind...uh..."

Morgan felt bad; he was pretty much lying barefaced to Hiccup, because the fact of the matter was this; Morgan himself didn't actually leave that night; he was taken to the Rookery Island by Cloudjumper to do what he wanted with Toothless. But he didn't want to tell Hiccup about what followed because he felt it'd ruin his reputation across all of the vikings, mainly the known ones like Hiccup himself and Snotlout, not so much the majority on the island who don't even know who Morgan himself is.

"Toothless was on my mind, uh...and now with this Light Fury, more than ever...I guess I just wanna see them all again...so...I was wondering...you know, I'm pretty knowledgeable on my stuff here, so I think it'd work out fine...could you take me to The Hidden World?" he asked, gulping right after.

"W-What?" Hiccup said, leaning forwards with widened eyes.

"Y-Yeah...could you...take me to The Hidden World? I know it sounds stupid but-"

"Morgan, you're talking about a world where me and Astrid were nearly killed by a RUMBLEHORN in, you can't be serious here?"

"But Hiccup...just hear me out, please...I miss Toothless, and I know my stuff, and I know The Hidden World has dangerous dragons in it, but there's a way to counter that; we just need some Dragonberry juice, you just put that over you and then Rumblehorns won't be able to smell you, so pretty much, if me and you go there, we could go to The Hidden World and find Toothless and his mate with ease?"

Hiccup rapidly sent his fingers across his beard.

"It's like you said, Morgan. I'm a father now, I can't be doing stuff like that at any time. On top of that, it's the wild; look, here's where I stand; me and Astrid and our kids only went on a boat to a bunch of rocks near the water entrance to The Hidden World, and on those rocks, that was where Toothless and the Light Fury were when we reunited...we didn't actually go INTO The Hidden World itself...the dragons deserve to live in peace, and yeah, I do miss Toothless, but it's nature, what can we do, Morgan?"

"Hiccup, you've got the experience...you've TAMED a Night Fury...dragons are why you're who you are today, and...come on, just once?"

"It's a hard world to get into anyways, Morgan. It'd take more than a boat to get there...I just can't..."

"Oh please, Hiccup? you don't know how personal Toothless has became to me..." Morgan said, subtly referring to why Toothless has became personal to the 19 year old himself.

"We both miss him greatly, but it's out of our hands, Morgan...it's just not possible for now...I'm a wiser viking now, and for us to go into The Hidden World at this time would be stupidly asking for a death-wish. I'm a dad, me and Astrid have two kids to look after, so I can't do that type of stuff anymore...I'm sorry..." Hiccup said.

Morgan gave up. He didn't want to annoy Hiccup, arguably one of the nicest vikings to live.

"You're right..." Morgan sighed, in a distinctly weakened and saddened tone, "I guess I'll never see Toothless again...I should've been here when you and Astrid found him and the Light Fury a few days ago..."

"I'd have taken you with us, too. Look, don't get upset about it, okay? the dragons are in their own world now, and we wanna make sure they're safe for the rest of their lives in the wild...surely that's enough to go by?"

"Y-Yeah, I guess..." Morgan said.

Morgan's intention of wanting to go to The Hidden World was far from gone. He was only saying yes to Hiccup's words because he didn't want to be an annoyance to him.

"Good. Well, honestly, Morgan, I'm really glad to have seen you again. Do you know if you have anywhere to stay...you know, a hut over your head?"

"I've no idea...I'll probably find somewhere, uh, yeah, I don't know..." Morgan said.

"I think I may have a spare uh...hay pillow in the other room. Astrid and the kids hardly come in here nowadays, so it should be alright. Uh...are you able to sleep on the floor easily?"

"As long as I have a pillow, then yeah. You don't have to do this, Hiccup, you know? I don't wanna be intrusive on you..."

"Not a problem, Morgan. We'll sort all of that out tomorrow, it's all on me. I'm sorry that I'm making you sleep on the floor, but hey, it's better than being stuck outside, right? haha? lemme go and find that hay pillow in the other room..." Hiccup said, standing up from the wooden chair.

As Hiccup's metal leg made a metal tap with the wooden floor by each step of his, Morgan wanted to get one more curious question off his mind.

"Hiccup, uh...you know, a few months after I left..." Morgan was simply lying again to Hiccup, something that gave guilt, but he had a good reason to keep it going, "did Toothless act like a little funny or what?"

Hiccup stopped right as he opened the door to the small hallway.

"Funnily enough, about three months I think it was, after you left we found him in the forest...he had...tears in his eyes or something...at the time, me and Astrid found him there by flying on Stormfly, and...yeah, it was just odd...he seemed to be...crying for something, haha...anyways, lemme go find this pillow..." Hiccup said, walking entirely into the other room.

"C-Crying?" Morgan said, gasping at himself, "no way...was that...over me?!" he whispered, so Hiccup wouldn't hear him.

If it really was the case that Toothless was upset at his disappearance at the time, then Morgan's intention of going to The Hidden World had only grown stronger; to be cried over by a dragon, albeit years ago now, and even better, by TOOTHLESS? Morgan wanted to go to The Hidden World pronto and find that Night Fury.

Catching up with Hiccup was surreal to Morgan for two reasons; the most obvious reason was that he was talking with somebody who was thought to be a 'fictional' person, and the other reason was that seeing Hiccup, adult-like with the beard and all, was shocking in person. Still, it was delightful. What wasn't delightful though was Hiccup's peaceful declining of Morgan's request to go to The Hidden World with his help. But Morgan still wasn't giving up on that intention. He just needed to go there. Now that Hiccup's said no, what will be Morgan's next step to accomplishing his seemingly ambitious goal? besides that, will Snotlout, Valka, Astrid and so on remember him when they eventually meet Morgan?
