Inside the small, green room, Brenna made a decision. "I gotta stop this," she told herself. "And I think I know how."

~I don't even know what I should say now~

Jennifer walked by Brenna's room and stopped to look in. Brenna sat at her small desk with her laboratory kit that Jennifer had given her for Christmas. Brenna was intensely staring through the microscope at something and frowning. She reached for a notebook and wrote something down.

Jennifer shook her head. Is it worth it to ask? She continued walking. She's so much like her father. Maybe she needs to find out for herself.

~I can't speak~

Brenna didn't just stop at her personal lab kit. She, as a member of the Science Club in school, had access to their laboratory, and she made good use of it. She told questioning students and teachers she was working on a science project, and everyone left it at that, no more questions. This was normal for her.

It was the same procedure every time.

Take the blood sample, look at it under the microscope, add different minerals, chemicals, and compounds to see if she could stop the transformation. Every time she did, the blood cells would all turn green and grow huge, just like she knew she'd do.

Brenna would sigh, sit back, and try again.

~I am such a freak~

Jennifer found Brenna's notebook. She had entered the girl's room to bring her down to make her eat lunch and had been greeted by the sight of her asleep, head on her desk.

Jennifer smiled. "Poor girl," she murmured. She hasn't been eating much, or sleeping, either.

That's when she spotted the notebook. She picked it up.

Brenna's Scientific Research Notebook.

Project: Eliminating Hulk-Like Condition

Day 1:

It's obvious that the condition is genetic. My father has the same problem, and in all probability has tried the same tactics to get rid of it.

I simply looked at my own blood under a microscope and discovered the green undercurrent of cells.

Jennifer frowned and kept reading.

Page after page of her handwriting marched across no less than twenty pages. She'd tried so many things, all to no avail.

Jennifer's heart went out to the girl. Brenna saw herself as a monster. Just like Bruce. Jennifer frowned. She has to learn that it doesn't have to be a bad thing.

She needs to know more about the She-Hulk.

~Trapped in a box~

"Brenna? Brenna, come downstairs!" Jennifer called.

Brenna stumbled down the stairs. "Whats the matter?"

"Nothing, dear, why would you say that?" Jennifer asked in surprise. "I just wanted to talk to you."

"About what?" Brenna asked suspiciously. She brightened slightly. "Is Dad coming home?"

Jennifer sighed. "I'm afraid not. I wanted to talk to you about something else."

Brenna sat down heavily on the couch. "You mean the Condition."

"Brenna, it's not a condition," Jennifer said sternly.

"Yes it is!" Brenna stood. "It's a scientific phenomenon! I'm working on a cure. Then Dad will come back and we'll be normal again!"

Jennifer looked at her for a moment. "Wait here for a minute." She turned and headed to her room. I wish Bruce were here.
