Breathe
Breathe in…
Breathe out…
Breathe in…
'Calm down calm down calm down you're fine, it's all fine, I'm fine, I'm fine, I'm fine'
Breathe out…
His breath caught painfully in his chest as he tried to inhale, a pitiful gasp followed by a choked sob.
'Everything's fine'
Nothing was fine, everything was wrong and the suit was too tight, and the room too small. The air was so thick he couldn't breathe-
'I can't breathe!'
-and he couldn't see anything-
'I can't breathe'
-but he could hear, each forced, gasping breathe, the sound of footsteps, the hushed voices of his adversaries as they came closer and closer.
'get up, get up, get up, get up, you're pathetic you need to GET UP'
He staggered to his feet, wrenching his eyes open and was flooded with too many colors, a spike of pain behind his eyes, and he was running-
Breathe in…
-a shout behind him-
Breathe out…
-he turned the corner; the window in front of him showed the beautiful view of the city, ten stories up-
Breathe in…
-another shout, this one worried, he didn't have his belt
'what belt?'
Breathe out…
He hit the window full force, splintering the glass around him. The wind rushed up to meet him as he free fell-
Breathe in…
Breathe out…
Breathe-
