'Allo~! Doibz's here! Holy Crapoly, over 300 views already! I'm so happy~!
Actually, now that I'm looking back on my chapter updates with my multiple personalities (yes, I have those 'cause I'm a loner, what about it?), I kinda noticed that I don't have a regular update pattern, I'm pretty much more or less updating Black Widow whenever I feel like it. (Which is sad 'cause as of now, I'm quite a few chapters ahead, and lemme tell you it's getting exciting!) I'm kinda thinking about doing regular updates for the 15th of each month, that is if school ain't being to mean to me with homework and coding *shivers*. I suck at coding.
Also, I've mentioned back in, what? Chapter 3? 4? that I was going to be making a deviantart account with my OCs on it? Well, I've made one already but I haven't gotten around to uploading them yet (I'm still debating to color these things or leave them black and white, I'm thinking about leaving them as they are now 'cause I ******* HATE coloring and I have nobody to do that **** for me anymore). If I do get on the ball here I should have them all on my deviantart account by the next update... hopefully. (I'm sorry I'm so lazy!)
Anyhoo, here's the next chapter for Black Widow! I'll admit, it's not very long, but I hope you like it!
Oh, and I don't own FMA, although I do own copies of all of the dvds and action figures of all shapes and sizes!
~Doibz
There was a time a little over two years ago when I was partnered up with Mars to go on a inspecting assignment with her down south along the border of Aerugo and Amestris. We were there once we received a message from Bradley saying that there were rumors that there were some suspicious men transporting illegal cargo back and forth between the two countries, and Bradley was curious to know what it was before he decides to send out a squadron to take them out. Unlike the majority of our other missions where we move out in the dead of night, we were out in the middle of the day. The two of us overlooked the suspected border town before I turned my eyes over to the Aerugoian side of the border to see a number of Aerugoian soldiers inspecting every person going in and out of Central thoroughly, searching their person, their baggage no matter what size it was inside and out before they find something on the 'no-no' list and send them back to their country.
And just like that, I watched as a man was kicked back into Amestris forcefully after some sort of a struggle. I couldn't help but to shake my head at this as I turned back to the designated town we were assigned to. "People these days are so fucking stupid…"
"I know what you mean." Mars sighed with me. "It's like they were put on this planet to test our anger management skills."
"Exactly." I said turning my head over to her, noticing she was tinkering with something on her lap, spiking my curiosity. What she working on now? "Hey, what're you doing now?"
"Nothing much, just doing last minute adjustments on this thing…" She said bringing her hand away from the small box that was sitting on her lap.
"What is that?" I questioned pointing to it, praying that it's something that won't end up killing us in the process.
She held up the small box and turned it towards me. "I've been working on this thing for a while. It's a smaller version of the cameras those photographers have that can be transported a lot easier. You know, something for all of us to take when we're on these inspecting assignments."
I blinked at this as I took the miniature wooden camera box in my hand. "Seriously? That's so cool." I said looking through the lenses. "Does it work like a regular camera?"
"Kinda," She began. "For the last few months, I've been busy taking apart larger models and shrinking and modifying parts for the little cameras for us, but so far I can only take one picture before I have to reload and wait for the bulb to cool down. And I didn't include the flash like the others have because of, well, obvious reasons. 'Cause of that, photos aren't that effective at night, unless there's enough light out that'll get picked up in the camera. That's the first one I've made so far."
I snorted at her as I handed the camera back to her. "I bet you live in some sort of lab with all your gadgets stacked up around the place. You're like a mad-inventor."
Mars laughed at that as she shook her head. "Yeah… Not too far from that, I guess…"
"Where do you get these ideas from anyways."
She let out a thoughtful sigh as she turned her head up to the sky. She then smirked before turning back to me. "I kinda like to ask myself one question… 'What if…'"
"… What if what?" I questioned not understanding the point.
"You know, what if this was smaller? What if this could do that?" She then snorted. "Or, what if I could make that blow up?"
"… Make what blow up?"
"Depends on what it is…" She then leant over towards me with a devious smirk on her face. "You know those little donuts that Prick eats all the time?"
My eyes widen at this as I turned my head over to her, gasped. "You didn't…" She snorted before making her hands fan out in an explosion while making the sound of it. I laughed at this, falling backwards into the grassy hill behind us. "You sodidn't…!"
"The moment he opens up that 'special' package, his donuts are gonna go off like firecrackers."
"But… what happens if he eats one before it goes off."
"… Indigestion?"
"I doubt that."
"Pfft! Whatever. I kinda wanted to see his face when they go off."
"I would think he'd never eat another one again."
The two of us paused at my thoughtful outcome of the situation. "Doubt it." The two of us laughed before we started to head out into the town.
I was awoken by an obnoxious dinging of my alarm clock, ruining my awesome dream… I dreamt that I had one of those ball-room pits, you know like the ones where you see all those kids playing with the colored plastic balls? Well, in my dream, the plastic balls were replaced with billions of candy-coated, chocolate-covered peanuts that were the size of gumballs. And I ate sooo many of those things, it was just… awesome. Pure awesomeness. Maybe I should invest in one of those…
Then I woke up and I came to a realization.
Firstly, I didn't have an alarm clock… well I did until I got Birdy-Boo, he just kinda mimicked my old alarm clock's dinging and he replaced it by being my new alarm clock… with no snooze button.
The second thing, the obvious, really, was that I wasn't in my bed.
In fact, I was outside, on top of a building's rooftop seeing the abandoned Fifth Laboratory's rear end, dressed in my S.A.F.A. uniform with Ed's tracking compass pressed up against my ear, dinging away.
I let out a yawn as I picked up the device in one hand while rubbing my eyes open with the other. "That damn brat left the hotel room… I knew it…" I said looking down to the compass' needle, which displayed that Ed – and most likely Al was with him, too – was close by. Very close by since the needle is spinning around furiously.
I flinched and jumped up once I heard the sound of Alphonse's armor clanging in the streets below. After shutting the dinging off of my tracking compass and put it away in my pouch strapped to my back, I crawled over to the edge of the building's rooftop and poked my head around the edge, seeing Ed and Al sneaking around to the back of the Laboratory's outer walls. They must of seen the guard that was at the front gate.
"Idiots…" I muttered to myself as I reached inside my pouch and pulled out Mars' finished and improved S.A.F.A. camera and sat up, crossing my legs. I pointed the camera towards Ed and Al once Ed was tossed up on the wall, landing on the barbed-wire covering the top of the wall with his fake limbs. I took a picture of him threading down the wire to Alphonse down below with a devious idea in mind. "He's so gonna get it tomorrow… He he he he…"
With the phrase 'you're gonna get in trouble' repeating in my mind in a sing-songy way, I watched as the two went to the back door, finding it armed with tripwires, which I found to be strange for an 'abandoned' building when I did my own inspection of the area earlier. They then went over to a small air vent opening nearby, which Ed was small enough to fit inside as he went into the laboratory, leaving Al outside. I was able to take a picture of Ed going in the vent before he disappeared in the building.
As I tossed the picture aside, I heard someone come up from behind me, causing me to reach to my knife strapped to my leg while spinning around. What I was surprised to see was Février standing there.
I blinked at him. "… Fév? Shit, don't do that on me… Sneaky bastard…" I said letting my knife go. "What are you doing here?" I asked him as he crouched down and made to my right side.
"I saw you here and I was wondering – out of all the places in Central you'd rather be – why would you be here…" He said before he noticed my pictures of Ed and Al piled up beside me before looking up to see Alphonse standing outside nearby the air vent opening. "Other than making a scrapbook of the Elric Brother's travels?" I gave him a quick glare at this comment.
I briefly explained to him what the situation was going on about, such as the Elrics finding the secret about the Philosopher's Stone, and Ed coming to a realization that this laboratory was using the prisoners next door as ingredients.
He let out a sigh at the new information I given him. "Some serious stuff's been coming up here lately, huh?" He began.
"More like some serious shit's been going on…" I said turning my head over to him. "I think that this kid might be on to something big."
"With the information we've been finding out thanks to Fullmetal, we're getting closer to exposing some kind of dirty ploy…" Février said with his eyes narrowed at the subject.
Just before I could say anything, I heard a yell nearby, causing me and Février to turn our heads to see an armored man attacking Alphonse from above with a cleaver at hand. Fortunately Al was quick to see this and was able to avoid each of his attacks.
"Who's that guy?" Fév asked me.
"Dunno… Someone guarding the Laboratory?" I said reaching into my pouch grabbing my binoculars and pointing it to the newcomer. I put my attention to his head, seeing he wore a skull faced helmet, and just on the sides of his helmet, I saw the number '66' printed in the steel. "He has '66' written on the side of the helmet… What does that mean?"
"I don't have a clue… The '66th' something or other?"
I glanced over at Février for a moment before turning back to the two armored bodies. "Geeze, Fév, the leader of the group's losing his touch. Hope that won't be a permanent problem."
"Shut up, Red." Fév snapped at me. "So… Fullmetal's inside the Laboratory isn't he?"
"Yeah… I think chances are he's gonna be attacked by another one of these guys…" I mentioned, going with the thoughts that ran though my mind. I turned my attention back on the armored newcomer. Could this guy… be a hollow suit of armor just like Al? The way he moves is like Al's, he doesn't run out of breath, doesn't tires, nothing. He has to be hollow, he has to be.
"This isn't good… How's the armored buddy of yours gonna do against this guy?"
"I wouldn't worry about him too much… " I said taking a picture of the guy right before Al knocked the armored man across the face, knocking him down. He stood up and charged at Al. "It's Edward I'm worried about. He's mostly flesh and bone… unlike his brother…"
Fév turned his head over to me. "What do you mean by-" He said before I cut him off by pointing to Al and the other armored man as Al knocked his helmet off his head. The two of us watched as the armored man's head bounced off before he turned his body to Al. "He's… Is he…?"
"An empty suit of armor? Yes, he is. I knew it."
As the headless armor and Al started to talk to each other, Fév couldn't keep his eyes off of them. "How did you know?"
"My client's brother is the same." I said pointing to Al as Al, coincidentally took off his helmet to the other man once I did, making the other armored guy freak out.
"…How is that possible?" Fév asked me.
"Alphonse's soul is sealed inside the armor using a rune thanks to his brother." I said. "Chances are this guy's the same as Al's."
"So, Fullmetal sealed his soul inside the armor…" He began registering the information. "Red, you've gotta lot of explanation once this clears up."
The thoughts of the long and boring chew out that's to come in the future came to my mind. "…Yeah." I moaned as I slouched my shoulders slightly before the two of us watched as the guard who was outside of the Laboratory entrance came around before the armored man with the '66' printed on his helmet killed him, making us both let out a disgusted 'ew' to the sight of blood being sprayed out from his head. It was like a broken sprinkler…
Fév stood up after letting out a sigh once Alphonse and the other armored man started to fight again. "Well, there's no point for me being here… And by the sounds of things, the bodyguards that were supposed to be looking after the Elrics will be here soon-" Just when he said that, there was a gunshot coming from the Laboratory grounds, making Fév crouch down immediately as we turned our heads. I then saw Ross and Brosh pointing their guns towards the armor with the cleaver, knocking it out of his hand. Fév let out snort as we started to hear their voices. "Oh, well speak of the devils. Things are moving along rather quickly…"
He then turned over to me with a stern expression on his face. "Remember, Red… I want to talk to you right after things here." He said before turning away, he made his way into the shadows. "See you in the room…" He said disappearing.
"… Yeah…"
Great. Perfect. Now things are going to be hectic in the boardroom-
My thoughts were cut off once a loud explosion erupted from the laboratory, making my head spin over towards it. "Fuck, what now…?!" I muttered to myself as I put aside my binoculars and took out my camera once I had the feeling that I needed it.
It then came to my realization that the whole laboratory was being blown up from the inside. "Shit…!" I began peering around the laboratory grounds. "Ed's still in there isn't he? Shit!"
The armored attacker fled the area before the wall erupted in front of Al. There emerging from the crumbling building was Ed being carried over someone's shoulder. As he stepped away from the dust, I brought the binoculars up to my eyes and peered at him. The moment I saw his face, I lost my breath.
"No way… It's him…"
The first time I encountered this person was nearly a year and a half ago, not too long before I was put into the hospital. It was a not-so-hot summer day, and I got back from a solo mission from the south after about being there for a week because it went all AWOL. I climbed through Bradley's window and I was surprised to see Bradley and this man conversing to each other in his office.
As I was panicking in my mind of how foolish I was to climb into the room without seeing if he was alone or not, Bradley turned his head over to me with a smile. "Red, what a surprise!" He began turning to me. "I haven't heard from you since you left for your mission down in the south. I thought something bad happened to you. Are you alright?"
"Uh…" I began glancing over to the skinny man with the spiky green hair. "Yes. I'm fine. The mission was a success. I'm sorry for making you wait so long, sir."
Bradley noticed that I was distracted by the stranger in the room. "Don't worry about him, Red." He began with a smile on his face. "He and I have been working together in some top secret assignments. If you don't mind, I'd like to hear of your report once we are done here."
"Yes, sir. I apologize for disturbing you." I said turning my head away before I noticed a strange tattoo on the stranger's left leg from the corner of my eye. But I didn't need to look at it directly to know what it was.
I bowed my head to the Fuhrer before I climbed out of the window and dashed to the S.A.F.A. room as fast as I could.
Once the man stood up after placing Ed's unconscious body on the ground, I pulled up my camera and pointed it towards him, taking his picture. As the photo popped out of the slot in the fort of the camera, I placed it down on my other pictures before watching the man run off away from them before jumping the fence.
Moments after he done that, the whole laboratory started to crumble to the ground as Al and the soldiers carried Ed out of the carnage. I quickly gathered up my supplies and put it away in my pouch before I fled the scene myself.
The moment I stepped inside the S.A.F.A. room back at Central Headquarters, Février was sitting at the table with a coffee in his hands as another one was across the table from him… for me. He had a suspicious look on his face, making me sigh, knowing full well how much he was going to chew me out.
Why does God hate me so much?
I sat down at the table with Février and I told them about the Elric brothers, about their past, how they committed the taboo, how Alphonse's soul was bonded to the suit of armor, and all that. It took a while to explain it to him, but I eventually did over a few cups of coffee.
Once I finished telling everything that happened to the brothers up to this point, Février sighed and put his back up against the backrest of the chair he sat on and put a hand up to his head. "No wonder he's called a 'child-prodigy'… All this stuff is making my head spin…" He finally said, making my head spin itself just seeing Fév, usually a level headed member of S.A.F.A., to be frustrated. "And all this about bonding a soul into a suit of armor…? What is happening to this country?"
I snorted at this as I put my elbow on the table and rested my head on my hand. "So yeah… That's everything about the Elrics that I know of anyways…"
"What was that explosion or whatever it was not too long after I left?" He asked.
"That was the laboratory being blown up from the inside out. There's nothing left of that place now." I said as I remembered about that picture I taken. I stood up and reached into my pouch. "And also, there's this…" I said taking the picture of the skinny man with green hair out and I tossed it on the table in front of him.
Fév reached out and took the picture in his grasp and looked at it. "Who's this?"
"I don't know his name, but remember when I told you and the other guys I saw a guy matching his description?" I began. "This was the guy conversing with Bradley over a year ago when I came back late from the south."
I watched as Fév's eye turned up to me as he noticed the seriousness in my face. He then turned back to the picture I took of the stranger before he noticed something in it. "What's that?" He murmured before he stood up and went over to gather a few tools. A magnify glass, a pen and piece of paper. I watched him narrowed his eyes over the photograph onto the man's leg while his right hand started to sketch what he saw.
The moment he completed the sketch, he turned his eyes towards it and his bright blue eyes widen. "Shit… Is that…" He said holding the sketch up to me, revealing the snake biting its own tail. "The Ouroboros Tattoo…?"
I nodded my head. "Now you believe me?"
I watched as Fév's frustration grew even larger as he dropped the piece of paper down on the table before wrapping his hand around his chin. "These guys are working with the military… That means Bradley's definitely involved…" He then thought for a moment before he turned to me. "Listen, Red, I think if you keep being buddies with these Elric kids, they'll help us expose Bradley and these guys, and help us learn what the hell they're up to. And once they help us with this, that's when we'll make our move. Until then, we'll mark you as 'off-duty' in S.A.F.A. and I'll put in a request in for you to have you as the Fullmetal's mentor for the meantime."
"What about the others?" I asked.
"Leo's already heading east to keep an eye out on Marcoh…" Fév began. "Mars is going to head to the south in the morning, and Birdy's going to be heading to West City for a few days. I'll tell them about our findings once they all get back. In the meantime, keep me informed on what's going on-"
"And don't tell Bradley anything." The two of us chimed together before we both stood up and put our right forearm up to each others with a snort.
"So, Red…" Fév began as the two of us started to head to the open window to leave. "Why do you have that photo of that armored guy with the '66' on his head?"
"Not too long after the Laboratory exploded, he ran off. Chances are he's gonna lay low before causing some problems with us later on. I thought I'd get a photo of the guy for all of us to have a record of."
"Smart. Okay then… Why do you have pictures of the Elric brothers sneaking into the laboratory?"
I snorted at this before I turned to him with a smirk on my face. "Before I left them, I threatened to tattle to Bradley what they're doing," I then snorted again. "And then I said I could do something worse than that. I'm thinking of going with that one."
Fév smirked at this as he patted my shoulder. "Why is it that the women in this group are so damn scary? You scare me more than Bradley."
"Really? I think my mother's scarier."
"How so?"
"How do you think I'm like this?"
"… That makes perfect sense. Remind me to never meet your mother if I ever have the chance to."
"Will do, man."
