Hey guys! Here's the newest chapter and I'm sorry I haven't been updating it's just I have a lot on my plate and the fact that I plan every detail of the story ahead of time and I change it like crazy. Anways thanks for putting up with me and I promise I'll make it up to you guys! ^.^
"North! Did it work?" Tooth asked as she landed near North.
"It worked, but not as much as we had hoped. The children, they are still fearful." North replied with sorrow.
"So what do we do now?" Bunny asked, "If the kids believe in us this way what'll happen to us?"
"I am not sure we must figure this out quickly if something were going to happen to us. We need new plan."
Jack suddenly flew into the room with wind still following him. "Sorry I'm late just had to take care of some snow days." he said with a smile.
"Jack have you seen Valentine?" North asked.
"Uh, yeah I was with her a while ago actually."
"We need to her here to discuss what our plan is going to be."
"Sandy's sand didn't work?" Jack said turning to Sandy.
"It worked but not like we had hoped."
"If you want I'll go get her. We'll be back as soon as we can."
"Jack take this, it is quicker" North said as he gave Jack a snow globe.
"Thanks!" He shook the snow globe and smashed it on the ground creating a portal. Jack turned around to give a nod before he jumped through.
Meanwhile Val was just arriving at her home which consisted of a castle looking building that seemed to have a magical look to it. Overall is looked like a timeless beautiful estate surrounded by hills. Val took off her bow and arrow and set them on a counter. She was suddenly welcomed by cherubs who were already there due to finishing their quota as well.
"Hey guys! Sorry I'm late just got a little sidetracked is all." She said with a warm smile.
They accepted the explanation and flew off into the hallway towards the many rooms.
Val rubbed the back of her neck and stretched it. "Haven't been this tired since-"
"Since last Valentine's day, am I right?" said a voice in the shadows.
Val jumped and turned toward the voice and was surprised to see Pitch coming from the walls.
"Wha-?!"
"Hello Valentine, I've heard much about you and I must say it was quite difficult finding this place. No wonder the other guardians have never seen you."
"What are you doing here?"
"What no welcome? What a terrible hostess. Anyway I came here to warn you."
"Warn me? About what?"
"Not so much warn you but to protect you from the guardians, of course. I mean, you've only just met them, so how can you trust them so quickly already?"
"I- I don't, but they said they needed my help and-"
"Oh we both know what happened the last time you trusted someone."
"What?! How'd you-"
"I'm the boogeyman of course. I know everyone's darkest fears even yours."
"Why are you here?"
"I just want to protect you from that pain and sorrow you've felt all those years ago." He walks around Val who is in deep thought of his words, "How you cared, yet you're sure no one else will do the same for you. I'm merely looking out for you. Keep that in mind, till we meet again." He said as he disappeared into the shadows and was gone.
Val looked down solemnly was frozen at the thought. "He couldn't- but-…."
Suddenly a portal appeared in the room with Jack flying through. Val looked up surprised at the commotion in front of her.
"Hey Val, I need you to- Is something wrong?" Jack said noticing Val's solemn look.
"Huh? No, nothing just …just really tired that's all." she said with a tired smile.
Jack didn't know whether to believe her or not but they had to get back to the North Pole.
"Well we gotta get back to the North Pole, we have to figure out what we're gonna do."
"Um, okay."
Jack smashed the snow globe and jumped through while Val wearily walked slowly towards the portal looking at where Pitch disappeared into before she jumped in herself.
They arrived at the North Pole a few seconds after while the other guardians waited for their arrival.
"Jack! Val! It's good to see you again!" North said.
"Yeah, same here!" Val said with a smile, "So Jack said we had something we needed to talk about?"
"Yes, Sandy's sand did not work as well as we had hoped. That is why we need new plan!"
"So what's gonna be the new plan?" Val asked.
"Well that's the problem. We don't know yet." Tooth replied.
"Why can't we just get rid of Pitch?" Bunny asked.
"Bunny, you and I both know that there is balance that exists and Pitch is part of balance we must maintain." North explained.
"Yeah, it's like if one of your ears were gone. You'd just tip over and fall to the ground." Jack joked.
"Oi! Is that a crack about my ears!? They are not that big!"
"Whatever you say, I'm surprised you haven't flown with those things already."
"I'm not some type of Dumbo flying animal!"
"Enough bickering! We must know what Pitch is planning to do." North shouted as he pushed between Bunny and Jack.
Val remembered her encounter with Pitch moments ago but she didn't know how to decipher it. It didn't make sense to her why would he want to "protect" her? The guardians didn't seem bad to her, if anything they seemed like they had the best intentions for her. Even so, she barely knew them so she decided to keep it strictly professional.
North brought his hand to his beard and started stroking it thoughtfully, "Maybe if we-"
Suddenly lights around North Eastern America started to flicker quickly some even going out. North looked up with a worried expression. "Pitch seems to be attacking! Everyone to the sleigh!"
"Thanks mate, but uh I'll meet you over there instead." Bunny said as he tapped the ground and jumped in.
The others quickly made their way to the sleigh and Val was amazed by it. I didn't seem like the frail old thing she's seen in pictures around stores.
"Cool, huh?"
"Huh?" Val turned to Jack who was watching her expression the entire time. "Y-yeah! It's amazing and sooo unexpected!"
"Yeah, I thought the same thing too when I first saw it."
"Everyone on sleigh!" North shouted.
They boarded and were off, North whispered into the globe and smashed it in front of the sleigh and soon made it to their destination. But the sight wasn't what they expected. Black sand was covering the entire town like a fog and was barely visible. Kids were screaming and crying while running away from confused and worried parents trying to catch them to calm them down. To the parents it seemed like the kids were scared of thin air, but the guardians saw the situation for what it really was. Black sand was taking shape into monsters and chasing the kids while the kids were covered in black sand, what was even worse the black sand seemed to be monstrous versions of the guardians. The entire scene looked like it came out of a nightmare itself
Jack looked on shocked, "Oh no."
