Chapter 7-
Brad looked out the window of the living room and sighed. Glancing at the clock he frowned.
'I knew they'd forget to pick me up.' He thought to himself. 'At least I'll be $5 dollars richer.' He told himself.
"Brad honey I just make prune pudding for you. Come and eat." His baby sitter called from the kitchen. Nearly gagging he got up and made his way to the kitchen.
'They owe me.' With that he headed to the kitchen to try to ingest the pudding.
"Where do I turn now?" Alejandro asked Gwen.
"Turn left on the next block." She told him. Alejandro followed the directions.
"Now just go straight."
"Can I ask you a question?"
"Technically you just did." The goth told him.
"Caramba, you are sarcastic."
"I try to be."
"Moving on. I wanted to ask if Gwen is real name."
"What kind of question is that?"
"You know is that your name? Or is it a nick name?"
"Its short for Gwendolyn, if you must know."
"That's a pretty name."
"See that's why I don't tell people my name. They always say it's pretty. It gets real annoying." The latino rolled his eyes.
"So do you have any nick names?" Gwen asked him.
"No not really."
"How about Al?" Alejandro shuddered at the name.
"Please don't say that. I hate it when people call me that."
"You do?"
"Yes."
"Good to know. I'll make sure to remember that."
"Crap. I should have kept my mouth shut about that."
"You should have." The two drove for a few minutes before they were by the baby sitters neighborhood.
"Stop when you get to the next house." He nodded and stopped the car in front of the house. The goth walked up to front door and knocked. Seconds later the door opened and Mrs. Riley smiled at her.
"Hi sweetie. How are you?"
"I'm good, sorry I'm late."
"No problem at all. I'll call Brad and let him know that your…" before she could finish the sentence or do what she said she would do, Brad came running out the house and ran behind Gwen.
"Thanks Mrs. Riley. See you next week. Let's go Gwen." Before she could respond, the goth was being pulled away from the house.
"What the hell took you this long?" he asked. Gwen raised an eyebrow at her brother.
"I thought you'd be angry I remembered to pick you up. You just lost the bet."
"Forget that. I'm angry you didn't get here earlier. I had to eat her prune pudding. If I die, it's totally your fault."
"Sorry."
"So why are you late?"
"Because, Duncan forgot to pick me up."
"Then how did you get here?" he asked. She pointed to the car in the street.
"Some guy in my group therapy drove me."
"Ooh…"
"Let me stop you right there before you say something. No we don't like each other. He just offered me a ride. Now walk." The two walked to the car and got in.
"Hi." Brad greeted the latino.
"Hi."
"Thanks for taking us home."
"No problem."
"Nice car by the way."
Before Alejandro could reply Gwen cut in.
"Okay cut the chit-chat," she told them and then pointed to the steering wheel, "hurry up and just drive."
"Geez sis, you are a backseat driver, even when no one is driving."
"Funny that's what I called her earlier." The goth face palmed.
"Okay, okay I'll drive."
"Thank you."
"How do we get to your house?" Alejandro asked.
They arrived at Gwen's house a little less than 20 minutes. Alejandro stopped the car in front of their house. The three of them got out the car and walked to the front door.
"Thanks for the ride, Alejandro." Brad said.
"No problem. It was nice to meet you." The latino told Gwen's brother. Brad turned to Gwen.
"I'll see you inside."
"Okay." Her brother went into the house. The goth turned her attention to Alejandro.
"Thanks for the ride."
"Sure."
"And thanks for being nice to my brother. See you in school tomorrow then?"
"I guess. I can't avoid you anymore. I've exceeded the amount of late nesses allowed in class."
"I know you were avoiding me."
"Yeah." She shrugged. " Oh well."
"Are you going to tell me why?"
"Nope," she turned around and headed toward the front door. She turned her head to look at him, "later." With that she went into the house and closed the door behind her. Alejandro shook his head and headed back to his car and headed home.
When inside Gwen headed to the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee. Her brother sat on one of the chairs drinking a glass of water. After getting everything ready she turned the coffee maker on. She leaned on the counter as she waited.
"Where is Duncan?" her brother asked.
"I don't know. He hasn't called. And its not like him to not call or not to pick me up."
"Maybe he forgot." He offered.
"Or maybe he got himself into trouble. Or is busy with Courtney. He did have a date with her today."
"He's still dating her?"
"Yep."
"Why?"
"I don't know ask him yourself."
"Nah I'm good. Anyway if he wants to date a crazy girl he can. Whatever floats his boat."
"I just hope he gets here before mom gets home."
"Maybe you should call him." Brad said. He handed her his cell and she dialed the punk's number. As it rang a familiar ring tone was heard from the other room. Walking to the living room Gwen saw Duncan's cell on the counter. Flipping her brother's phone closed and walked back into the kitchen.
"Well?"
"The idiot left his cell phone here."
"Oh boy."
"I need coffee." Gwen muttered.
The next morning Gwen woke up early. She got ready for school as usual. On her way to the kitchen she checked her mother's room and found her mother fast asleep. The goth went downstairs to make breakfast for everyone. When entering the kitchen she found Duncan sitting at the table drinking a cup of coffee.
"Morning Pasty." He greeted.
"What time did you get home?"She asked him. She didn't hear him come home last night.
'Maybe he snuck in through the window, or the back door.' she thought.
"About 11. Why?"
"Why? Why? Because you forgot to pick me up after my group therapy session yesterday."
The punks eyes widened in realization.
"Oh crap."
"Yeah. What do you have to say for yourself?" Gwen asked him.
"Sorry."
"Sorry? That's it?"
"I'll make it up to you."
"Oh I know you will. So how was your date with Courtney? It had to be a very good date for you to completely forget about me."
"Actually it wasn't fun. We went to see a documentary which was 3 hours long. Then she wanted me to take her to some fancy restaurant. And I lost track of time. I would have called but I left my phone."
"Psh, you're just lucky my mom didn't find out. I'm guessing you got here before her?"
"Barely. I got here like 2 minutes before her."
"Lucky." She muttered. He smiled.
"So how did you get home?"
"Someone from group therapy drove me."
"Who?"
"Alejandro."
"Wait, Alejandro? The guy who goes to our school? Or someone else?"
"Nope, the one from our school."
"That jerk goes to therapy? Figures, all jerks seem to have issues."
"You're one to talk you're one of them."
"That was a cheap shot, but you have a point."
"Remember how I said you owe me?" the goth asked. Duncan raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah, what about it?"
"I know how you're going to make it up to me."
"I don't like where this is going."
"You aren't suppose to."
"What is it?"
"You are going to come to school today."
"No, I'll do anything you want but please do not make me go to school." Gwen smiled.
"Nope. You said you'd make it up to me and you just said you'd do anything. So hurry up and go get ready for a long day of school."
Frowning he got up from the table.
"You know you're the worst." The goth stuck her tongue out at him.
"Next time don't be an ass. And hurry up you have less than 30 minutes." Duncan flipped her the middle finger. The goth rolled her eyes and began working on breakfast for her family before she had to leave.
Notes- Another chapter done. Thank you for those who review this story. Hope you enjoyed this chapter I had fun writing it. It wasn't all dramatic like the previous chapters. The next chapter is a bit longer and we see new characters, even if for a bit and we head back to therapy. I wonder who gets to tell their story next… Anyway thanks for reading. Till next time!
