Chapter 7

A/N: I have the weekend to myself amidst busy weeks on both sides, so I decided to write this short little thing since I didn't/won't have much time to write.

It's pretty much just filler White Rose fluff-fest.

"Ruby?"

"Hmm?"

"Why do you love me?"

Ruby set her pencil down as she pondered the question. She knew something was off with the way Weiss had been uncharacteristically unfocussed on their studying the past hour.

"That's a weird question." Ruby offered.

"A weird question that I want an answer to." Weiss retorted. "Everything that's gone on between us has simply… happened, without any true explanation. So I ask again: why? Why do you do everything you do for me?"

"Because I love you." Ruby answered simply, causing Weiss' brow to furrow.

"I know, but why? It's hardly like I welcomed you with open arms when we first met, but here we are. Something had to be the driving force behind your persistence!"

Ruby laughed. "My persistence? The way I remember it, you were the one to ask me out. You sounded very frustrated when you did, I might add."

"Well why did you say 'yes'?" Weiss was getting irritated; Ruby was avoiding her original question.

"Because I liked you."

"Why!? I was awful to you! Sometimes I still am! Why do you love me!?" Weiss yelled. She was getting a very distinct image in her mind of throttling Ruby while asking that. What gave her the right to drive her up the wall so easily and without consequence?

Ruby paused for a moment, looking at Weiss curiously.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"Gah!" Weiss huffed angrily. If it would make Ruby answer her question, she would tell her. "I love you because… because…" her voice dropped off as no readily-available answer came to mind. She racked her brain to try and find a reason. "…Because of that stupid way you smile at me! Because of how you make me blush when no one else can! Because of that way I feel warm when you shout 'I'm home' when you come back from class! B-because you're insufferable, annoying, childish, and you drive me crazy, a-and… and because you make me happy!" She finished her rant, shaking slightly as Ruby stared calmly at her. Weiss desperately wanted to grab her face and mash their lips together in a fit of rage.

Ruby moved first. She slowly rose from her chair to stand next to her girlfriend. Weiss was glaring at her with her arms folded tightly across her chest, but Ruby wasn't intimidated in the slightest. Rather, she was feeling an almost overwhelming amount of affection seeing Weiss so worked up because of her. Weiss could be so adorable sometimes, but pointing that out would probably only earn her a slap on the wrist instead of a kiss on the cheek.

Ruby lightly put her arms around Weiss and pulled her into a soft hug. "I love that you love me. Does that answer your question?"

Weiss pushed out of the hug, but stayed in Ruby's arms to look her in the eye. They stayed like that for a long while as Weiss considered the question.

"No, but it'll have to do."

Ruby smiled. "Good, because-"

Weiss silenced her with a kiss.
