Chapter 7
Amy's P. O.V
One day left. One day left till Wave, Marine, and Cosmo left. Today was the last night they would be staying with us. They would be catching the train to Sunset Hill at 8pm tomorrow morning.
Since tonight was their last night Wave wanted to go out and explore the city. Right now it was about we're all going to Twinkle Park, since Rouge knew the guy who worked there, we all got free passes.
Once everybody was ready we snuck out. While sneaking out I noticed a deconstruction sign. Four weeks from now they were going to bring a wrecking ball in to demolish the building.
We arrived at Twinkle Park at 8. The first thing we did was ride on the Bumper cars. Marine loved the Bumper cars. She was bumping everybody. When she got out of control Wave decided it was time to try something else.
The next ride we rode was a Roller Coaster. Cream didn't want to get on, so Blaze and Cosmo stayed with her. Once Nights and I got on and the safety bar closed I started to regret ever getting on. The Roller Coaster we were on was the biggest in the park .As the cart started going up the hill; I started fearing for my life. What if the cart went off the track? We rode around the cart for about ten minutes straight screaming our heads off. Once we were off we went to try other rides.
Throughout our time at Twinkle Park we rode every ride except the Carousel. It was currently 7:30. We were leaving at 8. While Cream and Marine were riding on the Carousel. Cosmo sat at a nearby table watching them.
"So Cosmo what are you going to do when you get to Sunset Hill?" I asked her.
"Wave told me that Jet's Aunt owns a bakery, so I was thinking I could start working there."
"That might work, but what about your family?"
"Honestly Amy, I don't know."
"Don't you miss them?"I asked her, more curious about her family life.
"I miss my mom and my step sister, but not my step dad; he's the one who set up the arranged marriage."
I didn't know what else to say, so I left it at that.
"Hey Amy, Cosmo suddenly asked, will you promise me after we leave you'll keep in touch?"
"Yeah I promise."
After we left Twinkle Park we put a half way knocked out Cream in bed. We tried to put Marine to bed, but that proved to be a challenge.
"Wave can I go with y'all," Marine whined as we tried to settle her into bed.
"Sorry Marine you're too young." Wave smiled as she tried to slip out the door.
"How's a Sheila like me supposed to get out into the world if ya'll keep treating me like a baby?"
"How about this, if you're a good girl, we'll bring you cookies back.
"Yay cookies, I promise I'll be a good girl.
While we were looking for a place to go, Wave decided she wanted to see a race.
When we arrived at the stadium I saw Sonic standing at the concession eating a chili dog. He was standing next to some fox kid. I was about to go over and say hi, but somebody blocked my view. We waited in line for about 20mins before we ended up in front.
"Hey Wave how we are going to pay for this." I asked.
Oh it's free for tonight," she answered back.
We all walked in and settled on the bottom of the bleachers, close to the finish line.
"Hey Amy I," a voice called from behind me.
I turned around and it was Sonic with the fox kid sitting next to him.
"Hey Sonic, how are you."
"I'm good, Tails this is Amy, and Amy this is my little bro Tails.
"Hey nice to meet you," I smiled at him.
I sat and talked with Sonic and his brother the whole time. It turned out that Tails was a complete genius. Next to him I felt dumb as a rock.
When the race was over and it was time to go I felt a little sad. I didn't want to leave just yet. I still wanted to be close to Sonic. When it was time to go Sonic gave me a hug. When he hugged I caught a whiff of his Red Polo cologne. It smelt so good that I didn't want to let him go.
When we left the race track it was about 10:30.
"What do you guys wanna do next", Rouge asked.
"Hey let's go hang out at the park. Cosmo suggested.
Since there was nothing else to do we all went to the park. While Nights and Wave argued about something stupid, and Cosmo watched, Rouge and I sat down on the swings.
"Hey Amy can I ask you something," Rouge asked looking down
Yeah what's up," I looked up wondering what she was about to ask me.
Do you think we're always going to be living in the streets?"
"Of course not why would you say that?" I asked wondering where this was coming from.
"I feel like I'm stuck. This isn't the life I want to live. I don't want live like this Amy. I don't want to keep stripping or sell my body for money Amy. I don't wanna live on the streets any more. I want a home cooked meal, a warm bed to sleep in, somewhere I can call home. I'm tired of wondering when our next meal will be. I'm tired of wondering where we'll spend the night. I'm tired of worrying about whether we survive to see the next day. I'm only 17 and everything so hard. I want to something better for all of us. I can't have you, Cream, and Blaze on the streets like that. We're too young for that. We're supposed to be having fun and not having a care in the world .I want the best for all of us."
After Yelling all of that Rouge broke down crying. I've never seen Rouge cry like this. Right now she looked like I did, like most homeless kids, sad, scared, and cold. I didn't know what else to say or do so I hugged her and cried with her. I understood how she felt, angry at the world, angry at the world for giving her this burden to carry at such a young age. Rouge didn't deserve it. None of us did.
We sat there holding each other for a long time till Wave told us it was time to go. By the time we got home everybody was so tired they almost passed out. As soon as I laid down, I fell asleep instantly.
The next morning we woke up at 6am to see outside it was raining buckets. Today was the day Wave, Cosmo, and Marine were going home. We all got up and got dressed. Rouge grabbed the umbrella and we left the apartment. While we were walking to the station I felt tear welling up in my eyes. I wasn't ready for them to leave. In the little time I've known them they became like sisters to me. I would miss Wave proving how smart she was and how her and Nights would argue about any and everything. I would miss Cosmo and her optimist vision of the world. I would miss Marine's loud mouth self. I wish they could have stayed longer.
By the Time we got to the station it was 7:15. We sat around in a cafe eating chips and watching trains go by. A little while later it was 7:40. We had 20 minutes to say our goodbyes before they left.
"Hey you guys don't look so sad we'll see each other again." Wave told us trying to lighten the mood.
I looked at Cream. Her face was a deep red as she tried to hold her tears in. Poor Cream her only friend her age that she had was leaving her, and she was trying to be strong.
I knew for a fact that Nights was sad that Wave was leaving. They had become close even though they were at each other's neck half of the time they were in the same room.
I would defiantly miss Cosmo. We had become close too. She was the only friend I had my age.
As soon as we heard the conductor yelling about how the train was leaving in ten minutes, we all bust out crying. For ten minutes all you could see and hear was lots of hugging, tears, and crying.
Rouge, Nights, Wave, Cream, and I watched as they board the train.
"Love, peace, and chicken grease," Marine yelled as she stuck her head out the window still waving at us.
We all laughed even though the joke was corny as hell.
"You'll think they'll be ok Amy." Cream asked as she grabbed my hand.
"Of course they will Cream."
I didn't tell Cream that to make her feel better I believed it too. I believed they would make it.
