KH Birth by Sleep: Harumi's Quest
Chapter 7: Love is powerful
Harumi walked onto a rocky bridge which led to a Castle which was once beautiful but was touched with darkness. From a distance, the red haired teen squinted and saw this orb light which was bright.
"What is that?" She asked and the orb of light flew away from the Castle and far out. "It's better if I take a look inside. There's something fishy." She started to run across the bridge and went through the doors.
The red haired young woman was caught trespassing by these armoured animals but she managed to fight her way through and kept running.
"There's no way Terra would hurt somebody like that!" Harumi heard Ventus' voice as she entered the Audience Chamber.
"That's unfortunate, for he agreed so easily." A witch stated.
"He did?" Ven mumbled.
"Ven, don't listen to her! She's fooling you!" The blue eyed young woman shouted and ran up to him.
"Harumi!" He exclaimed.
Maleficent stared at the young woman; she was Hiromi's daughter, Harumi.
The witch remembered her mother very well; they were very good friends in the past. But Maleficent's revenge and darkness turned her evil and changed her. Hiromi knew that nothing would be the same. So from there on, they were enemies.
As the witch stared at her old best friend, she noticed that Harumi's personality was like Hiromi's but the eyes were like her father's.
"Terra would never do that, Ven." Harumi said as she placed her hand on her heart. "You know that as much as I do."
"Yeah!" Ven smiled and the red haired teen smiled too with a tear falling down her cheek; it felt so good to see her friend smiling again.
"Ah… The truth can be most cruel even amongst the closest of friends." Maleficent said. "After all, one never knows the secret of another's heart. I'm sure you'll agree…Ventus…Harumi."
"Ven, the Master sent me. Let's go home, where it's safe." The young Keyblade Master stated.
"But Terra…" She frowned at this with tears brimming in her eyes.
"Terra…" She sniffed. "…Terra's not ready to leave just yet." Ven stared at the ground with a frown.
"Sorry, Haru. But I can't go with you." He mumbled.
"Ven…"
"It's just…I have to find him before it's too late!" He shouted and ran off.
"So you are Harumi." The witch stated and the blue eyed 18 year-old glared at her.
"How do you know my name?" She asked.
"I knew your mother before you was born, my dear." Harumi felt her heart break but didn't show it as she grinded her teeth together. "I see you wield a Keyblade."
"How do you know about the Keyblade?" She asked.
"A source of power. A key that opens the heart of men, of entire worlds…and allows one to obtain anything and everything. Such a power I find most fascinating." Harumi looked down as a tear fell down her face.
"Terra…did he…but…why?" She mumbled.
"Yes. Now, my dear, would you like to assist me, as well?" Maleficent asked.
"I will never help you!" She shouted.
"I see, Xehanort was right. You are very intelligent yet stubborn like your father!" She laughed and Harumi lost her cool; no one dared to speak of her father in that manner. But she was shocked; Master Xehanort?
"Don't you speak about my father like that!" She yelled.
"It seems you need time to consider my offer. Fortunately, I have the perfect place!" Suddenly, the ground beneath the Keyblade Master turned dark and she fell.
Harumi landed on the brick ground gracefully as she kneeled. She stood up and found herself in this chamber. She saw a man sitting down with brown hair. She walked up to him.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I am Harumi." She answered. "It looks like I was caught in a trap. Why are you here?"
"To prevent me from breaking her evil curse. I was to meet the most beautiful girl at a cottage in the glen, but now my true love lies in an eternal slumber and only I can break the spell." Harumi smiled with watery eyes.
"You must love her very much." She stated.
"Is what you said, true?" They turned to 3 fairies, one who wore blue, another red and the final green.
"Yes, Maleficent told me." The man said.
"Oh Prince Phillip, it's you!" The fairy in red exclaimed. She waved her wand and the chains on Phillip's wrist broke off.
"Now Phillip, the road to true love may be barred by many more dangers which you alone will have to face." The fairy said.
"I'm going too. I'm on a quest and I have to find the man I love. Also, there's something I need to know and Maleficent has the answer." Harumi explained.
"Yes, of course dear. Now come along, we must hurry to Aurora."
Harumi and Phillip ran through the chambers and fought Maleficent's goons which were called by a raven bird. They finally got out of the Castle but it wasn't over yet; they ran, opened the gates and escaped from the goons.
They ran through a forest and got to another Castle which was somehow keeping a source of light and was blue and white.
"A forest of thorns shall be your tomb…wound 'round the Castle in a bower of doom!" Maleficent yelled as she held her staff up in the air. There was thunder and suddenly thorns surrounded the Castle making it impossible to get through.
Harumi and Phillip kept running but Maleficent appeared in front of them.
"Maleficent, what did Master Xehanort tell you?!" The red haired teen growled.
"Such a pity, child, that you don't have Terra's gift for obedience. Nor can you see how easy it was for him." She smirked.
"Terra would never do anything to help you! Don't talk about him like that!" She exclaimed.
"Quite the contrary. He fully embraced the darkness within himself." Maleficent said.
"STOP IT! TERRA WOULD NEVER DO THAT!" She screamed.
"See for yourself, all the powers of hell!" The witch yelled. There was a green light and when it died down, Harumi gasped.
Maleficent turned into a fire breathing dragon. Phillip was a little afraid but the red haired teen stared up at the dragon with determination.
Phillip was fighting her head with his sword as the Keyblade Master fought with magic. It seemed that fire was less effective so she used blizzard. Together, the fighting and magical based attacks were both strong against the dragon.
Maleficent breathed fire in front of Harumi and Phillip continued fighting. The fairies appeared.
"All together, now the sword of truth, fly swift and sure…that evil die and good endure!" His sword brightened and he threw it. The sword the dragon's chest and it she roared. She disappeared into smoke. All the thorns melted away. The light of day returned again. Phillip ran as fast as he could into the Castle.
A weak Maleficent was walking away.
"It's the power of true love that defeated you." Harumi stated.
"I will not be defeated by something as insignificant as love." Maleficent growled.
"You don't know anything about. Love is powerful enough to beat any kind of evil. Someday…" The young woman placed her hand on her chest. "…me and Terra's love together will defeat you."
"You're too clouded by darkness to see that there's something greater." She stated.
"You sound so much like Hiromi." Maleficent whispered and frowned for a moment.
"Try all you want, but you'll never defeat a heart filled with light." She said but the witch interrupted.
"Perhaps…" They turned around. "But remember one thing, as long as there is light, there will be darkness. And in time, many more will be drawn to it. Then they will all belong to me!" She cackled and disappeared in green smoke.
"Terra, you better stay strong for me." Harumi whispered.
She turned around and suddenly felt dizzy. Everything was blurry and she fell onto her knees.
"You think you can defeat me? Me, the mistress of darkness?" Haruka smirked at this and walked around her friends. Maleficent's eyes widened and she stepped back with fear. For a moment, Haruka turned into her mother, with just a few changes and changed back again.
"No, it can't be. I-I thought you were dead Hiromi!" She smirked smugly at this and shook her head.
"You're wrong on both accounts. Hiromi lives, she lives within the heart of her daughter and those dearest to her and I am not Hiromi. I am Hiromi's daughter, Haruka!" The red haired girl yelled…
"You know my mother?!" She asked and Maleficent smirked.
"I knew your mother." The witch corrected her. The Princess' fist trembled with anger and just as she was about to charge at Maleficent, Sora held her back. "Temper, temper, Princess. You're not even worth the title..."
"Be gone! Leave them to us." The witch said.
"I will be sending them after Xemnas. After all, the Princess must fight Xemnas to gain revenge on what he has done to her grandmother." Haruka stared at her as Maleficent stared at her too; something was fishy.
""You heard the King, Princess Haruka. So run along." The green skinned witch said.
"Maleficent." The red haired Princess called out and Maleficent turned to her. "Thank you." The woman just turned around and they started fighting.
Harumi opened her eyes and gasped. Then she smiled and tears fell down her cheeks.
"My baby sister, I know that someday, you'll be strong and might bring out the goodness in Maleficent." She whispered.
