Chapter Seven
Yami started walking away from the tomb, not sure where he was headed.
He just hoped he didn't run into a hippo or a lion.
Yami heard horses and turned to the sound, spears and swords suddenly being pointed at his head.
The colour drained from Yami's face.
"Take this thief to the palace. We have to find the other one," one of the men ordered.
There were six men there with Yami, two grabbed Yami and then the other four continued their search for a thief.
"You have the wrong person. I'm not a thief," Yami said.
"Be quiet!" one of the guards snapped, hitting Yami with the hilt of his blade.
Yami instantly blacked out and went limp in the arms of the guards.
The guard that had struck Yami looked at his friend with a look of horror on his face. "W-What did I just do, Bakura?" the man asked.
"You knocked him out, Ryou," Bakura replied, tossing their prisoner over his shoulder.
Ryou is a new law enforcer and is only seventeen.
Bakura is twenty-two and has been working with his father since he was ten. He started working here, officially, when he turned seventeen.
Heba should have known that the guards would go after Yami if he wears that cloak, but the bonding had already affected his mind and he hadn't thought about it.
If Malik had of waited much longer to get rid of Yami then they wouldn't have been able to get rid of him without Heba risking his life to get the boy back and ultimately dying in the process.
Bonding with a god, especially one with a reputation like Yami is a very dangerous thing.
Bakura and Ryou mounted their horses and headed back towards the palace, Bakura keeping a firm grasp on Yami's form.
He didn't notice the blood slowly staining Yami's hair and alerting lions and other predators to the group.
A loud roar rippled through the area, Bakura seeing a lion and a lioness following after them and gaining on them.
"Run faster!" Bakura shouted, unable to defend himself with his sword while Yami was with him.
The lion jumped up and grabbed one of Yami's dangling arms, ripping the boy from the arms of Bakura.
The fast-moving horse only helped the lion keep his prize secure as his mother joined him.
The lioness huffed at the lion and bit him softly, making him release the human arm that was covered in blood.
The lioness made a sound and the lion nodded, resuming the chase to ensure the horses didn't come back for the boy.
The lioness circled Yami, taking in his form before she stopped and gently nudged him onto his back.
Yami groaned softly, starting to come to.
He opened his eyes and screamed when he saw a lioness standing over him, watching him closely.
"Calm down, Daughter of the Gods. No harm will come to you," the lioness whispered.
Yami stared at the lioness with wide, shocked eyes. "Y-You can talk?" Yami stuttered, his voice barely a whisper.
"Yes. My son has used his ability to allow us to control these wonderful creatures," the lioness replied with a smile, sitting down beside Yami.
"Your son?" Yami asked, tilting his head curiously.
"Yes. My son is Maahes," the lioness replied.
"D-Does that mean you are the Goddess Bastet?" Yami asked, sitting up to look at Bastet.
The lioness smiled. "Yes. I am Bastet," Bastet replied.
"Why does everyone keep calling me Daughter of the Gods?" Yami asked, placing his good hand against the back of his head where Ryou had struck him.
"You don't know?" Bastet asked, tilting her head.
Yami shook his head. "I have no idea. I don't even know how I ended up here, in a tomb with two people named Heba and Malik," Yami replied, pulling his bloodied hand away from the wound on his head.
He didn't think it was a good idea to put more sand in the bloodied wound.
Bastet sighed. "Do you know anything about a god that shares your name, Yami?" Bastet asked.
Yami shook his head. "Does it have something to do with that statue that shares my appearance?" Yami asked.
"Yes. Where should I start?" Bastet asked.
"How about with how I got here?" Yami suggested.
"I don't think it would make much sense without you knowing how we got there in the first place," Bastet pointed out.
Yami sighed. "I just want to know why Yugi was turned into a mummy before his time. And what happened to my father? Why was the statue touching my face and so interested in me? How did I end up here? What's with this thing around my neck?" Yami ranted, tugging at the choker that the statue had placed around his throat.
Bastet chuckled softly at him. "It will all get explained with time."
Yami nodded, looking at his bitten arm.
"What happened to my arm? Why is it broken and bleeding?" Yami asked, looking at Bastet with a worried look. "Better question, why can't I feel it?"
"You can't feel your arm?" Bastet asked worriedly.
"No. I can't," Yami replied, carefully cradling the broken arm.
Bastet cursed. "Maahes must have hit a nerve when he bit you to get you out of the grasps of the guards," Bastet said. "Unfortunately, the only way to treat those wounds is to go to a healer. The best healer is in the palace."
"I can't go to the palace in this outfit. They'll think I'm a thief again," Yami pointed out.
"I know. Are you right to walk?" Bastet asked. "I know a place we can go to get you some clothes."
Yami nodded and slowly rose to his feet, following Bastet through the sands of Egypt.
All that was left on the sand to show them being there is a bloodied patch of sand, the wind blowing their tracks away.
Bastet led Yami to a temple on the outskirts of the city, the Priests in the building screaming when they saw the boy enter with a fully-grown lioness.
The head Priestess saw the wound.
"Good Lord. Take a seat, child. Someone get me some water and some cloths!" the woman, Isis, ordered.
Isis was supposed to be in the palace healing chambers today but she had a really weird urge to come to this temple.
Bastet was surprised to see Isis in the temple.
'We must have had some divine intervention. Thank you, Ra,' Bastet thought.
She knew that Ra would interfere like this at times.
Yami was placed on a stool, Isis quickly working around him to clean the bite mark in his arm.
"This might hurt," Isis warned as she took a cloth and dunked it in the requested water, gently using the cloth to clean the blood from the wound.
"I can't feel the arm, Ma'am. I haven't been able to since I woke up," Yami said.
Isis frowned and looked at him briefly before looking down at the still bleeding wound.
She gently tied a string of fabric around the wound.
"That's not good. There's not much else I can do here. You'll have to come to the palace with me," Isis said.
"Um… Can I have some clothes first?" Yami asked with a blush.
"Aren't you wearing clothes?" Isis asked.
Yami's blush darkened. "Uh… I have no clothes under this cloak. I woke up with no clothes on," Yami whispered.
Isis blushed lightly and nodded, ordering someone to bring some clothes over.
Isis had to help Yami change into the new outfit, Yami being unable to do some parts due to his broken arm.
Yami ended up being dressed in a white dress that fell to his knees, a belt over his lower ribs. This dress was made for girls and the belt would be just under their breasts. There was only a thin strap and the straps crossed over at the back before they connected to the back of the dress that was resting halfway down Yami's back.
Yami was given some sandals to wear and he slipped them on, blushing since he still didn't have any underwear.
"Ready now?" Isis asked.
Yami nodded and the two humans and Bastet left the tomb.
Maahes joined them and then they headed towards the palace once again.
