This is the last chapter for Broken Wings of Freedom. Yes a quick update but I was in the writing mood today. In this chapter you will find with who the pairing was with, not that it was ever hard to decipher. Enjoy :3

Chapter 7 ~ Welcome Back

Seated in the cart next to Levi, in a way he still could not believe it but here he was as wall Rose came into view. The images of when he had found him lying in that cave, not moving and short breathing was photographed in his mind. Mikasa had to leave them to get more people to get Levi out, there was no way the three of them could have carried him by themselves without causing Levi more injuries and pain. How he had managed to get himself into that cave in the first place he will never understand only saying how a human body can do things in the most urgency. Levi has a huge gash on the right side of his head, his left arm is broken, his right leg is broken and from what Hanji was able to make out quickly he also has a few broken ribs but none seem to have punctured his lungs.

The only way he could be move was with the usage of a stretcher to minimize contact with his broken ribs. Any pressure to his chest could prove fatal. It took a lot of effort to get Levi up that cliff, the thing that alarmed the troops was the lurking Titans, luck however had been on their side.

Looking at the injured Levi just felt weird to Eren, his Corporal getting injured never seemed possible to begin with, like he was this invincible man and he would never fall. Now looking at the broken man known has Humanity's Strongest Soldier, Eren could not help himself but let out tears of frustration. Even though he was happy to see the Corporal alive, he was angry with himself to have allowed him to get injured to such extend.

"How is the Corporal fairing?" The voice of Mikasa snapped Eren out of his thoughts as he looked at her, quickly whipping his tears.

"No change." He answered returning his gaze to the older man. "This is not the guy I saw riding on his horse back in Trost."

"Just a little longer Eren, we're almost to the wall. I can hear the bells!" She replied keeping her horse in top speed. The chimes of the bells reached Eren's ears, the sweet sounds they made never felt so better. In any minute he would be passing through the large gate and into the Karanese District. From outside the wall for some reason the walls seem bigger, even though he hates being confined within them when he is outside into Titan territory he is still glad to enter them once again.

Eren placed a hand on Levi's cheek, it was not cold or was it hot. His skin was pale compared to his usual complexion but no signs of infection were visible. He was not hot so again, no fever meaning again no presence of infection. However he was filthy, that was definitely something that would have to be taken care of, Levi would never stand to be this filthy. It wrenched his stomach to see Levi in such a state, from where he was staring, Levi looked like a lifeless doll. If it had not been for his breathing, he would believe it.

The sound of the gate opening filled the air mixed with the sound of the bells as they passed inside the large stone hall. The roaring voices of the citizens could be heard as they rode through the empty street and all went silent. The expedition had actually gone very well with only a few deaths, it was not long before some noticed the cart Eren was sitting in. It was only logical that this would be the cart holding the Corporal or dead bodies but none dared say a word. As they passed, the roars of applause from the Garrison were new to them but felt great, if all expeditions could be greeted like this…

A blinding light pierced as he opened his eyes to the sound of birds chirping. His hands rubbed his eyes trying to wake them up, he felt like he had slept for ages. He felt lost and yet he felt at peace, the last thing he remembered was Ackerman. She was going to get hit by that Titan and before he could think, he moved and pushed her out of the way. The rest is a blur, he can't remember what happened or how he ended up here.

He looked around as he sat on the bed, he felt no pain. Surely he should be in pain, even though he can't exactly remember what happened, he was almost certain that he got hit by that Titan. He should be in pain, exactly how long had he been sleeping?

He started moving his legs as he placed his bare feet on the cold stone floor. He tooked a deep breath and took a chance to stand. For a few seconds he felt weak in his legs but the numbness quickly disappeared as he started walking by taking small steps to the nearby window. The sun was shining and the sky was a crisp blue, it looked like it was going to be a nice day today.

He looked around the room, lying on a small table was his modern day clothes, surely he would not be expected to do any fighting. Erwin must be the one to have taken those out, there would be no way to debate himself into the next expedition. Not with what happened on the last one, he had a feeling he had been sleeping for a very long time… Was he really that injured he wondered?

Levi started putting on his clothes, his ankle was no longer swollen as his boots fitted just right. Quickly buttoning his shirt and combing his hair before leaving the room. If Hanji saw him with messed up hair, he would never hear the end of it even though she has been bugging him to see him with bedhead hair.

The hallway was quiet as usual or a little more. He'd be best to take advantage of the silence, once Hanji would make her appearance any hopes for quietness would be impossible to gain again. The never ending questions has to how and when to the why would be never ending, he surely would have to give his sympathies to Moblit, how that man can endure that woman on a daily basis will always be the biggest mystery to him.

Levi could only imagine what kind of shenanigans she was up to while he was recuperating from his injuries. Usually he was the one putting some halts to Hanji's experiments with Eren, the poor kind was probably wishing he was in his place instead.

The mess hall was empty, usually you could find the usual soldiers just lying around doing absolutely nothing until they saw their superiors. Again the thoughts of Hanji's experiments would be enough to get the attention of the troops, maybe it was time to show his face and get back things to normal around here he thought to himself.

Levi walked off to the next hall and out the large oak doors that led outside.

"Where the hell is everyone?" He asked himself, no one was in sight, all was quiet, a little too quiet even for the Scouts. Even though he often went by himself, he hated being alone. After seeing so many people he had befriended die it was hard to take the chance to get close to anyone but he hated it, the emptiness he felt.

"You're back… We missed you…"

He quickly turned around as her eyes met his. Now that was a pleasant surprised, normally he does not like them but seeing the effort they took to surprise him, I guess he could not mind. A smile formed on his face, he thought he had forgotten how but it felt great.

"I missed you too." Was all he could bring himself to say as tears formed in his eyes, he did not care he was happy…

"Scouting Legion, Squad Leader Hanji Zoe,

Central Military Police had been quick to corner the Scouting Legion. Commander Erwin Smith was taken into their custody for his unauthorised actions while the rest were excused back to the HQ where proper treatment had been administered to Lance Corporal Levi.

A few days later Commander Erwin Smith was given clemency for his actions with the successful retrieval of the Corporal alive but celebration was short lived, Lance Corporal Levi was nothing more than a living breathing corps with zero stimulation. The wound to his head showed no sign of healing after two days while the extremities of his limbs were beginning to change color from flesh pink to bluish grey.

Six days after returning from the outside wall, the shine in his hair was gone, his skin dried up and the pigmentation lost its color. Even though his heart was beating and lungs breathing, his body was on a similar process to decomposition. With the lack of research and medical knowledge I was unable to stop this mysterious process nor was I able to understand.

Nine days after returning from the outside wall, August 15, year 850 at 6:45 in the morning marks the death of Lance Corporal Levi at the age of twenty. Cause of death unknown, generalisation of death is heart failure or the cease of function of the lungs.

In order to better understand what happened to Lance Corporal Levi and his apparent death. His organs were removed from his body, unfortunately no new information had been gained to validate the exact cause of death and how it could have been prevented.

This ends my report." Hanji's voice shaking as she spoke each word fighting the tears from coming down. Even though they had succeeded in finding Levi, they were too late in the end. When she had seen him lying in that cave, never would she have believed this would have happened. She administered the first aid on the spot, she had cleaned his wound, she had splintered his broken arm and leg, she had done everything that was needed and more. She made sure no infection would fester by cleaning his wounds regularly, his breathing was normal and his heart beat also. She went on and on in her head trying to understand what she had done wrong, even went to the point of dissecting him to find the cause, in the end it had been futile.

She had been dismissed after she had given her report to central, She now stared at the lifeless body of the man she wanted to be close to, she wanted him to open up to her so much. From the first day she met him, she was attracted to him, he had that effect on a lot of people.

She brushed her hand on his cold cheek, he seemed so peaceful now, dressed in a white shirt and black pants. She had tied the cravat he wore so many times, it had been decided that Levi would not be burned. He would be celebrated and buried on the Scouting Legion's grounds where he would be remembered…

"May you be in peace Levi… Finally you can be with her again…" She spoke to the peaceful face sleeping of her comrade as she imagined Levi and Petra dressed in the white dressed she had been meant to wear but cut off short. "We'll meet you there someday…"

Author's info: Levi received brain damage from his head injury and was in a coma. Normally such injury would heal over time if he had been on life support and given proper treatment which is not really available in the SNK universe so Levi died from the lack of oxygen going to his brain. Normally a person will die within 7-10 days from dehydration.

Alright don't hate me, you should have seen this one coming or not... Oh well XD. Now you all know, it was always Levi x Petra and now their in Heaven together.

Review and try not to cry for those who did not want me to kill off Levi. Sorry.
