"Julian," He said, sticking his hand out towords the pretty red head, "Julian Inkpen. As you know by now i'm the Lightwood bastard baby."
Clary laughed at that, "Clary, Clary Morgenstern. As by now you know i'm the Angel girl and can kick your ass."
Clary, Julian, Jace, Lena, Daniel and Heidi were made one traning group, and Julian and Heidi had been added to Clary's hunting group. A thing that Jace didn't seem to be to fond of.
"Enough chit chat!" Matt snapped, "Julian, Clary. Spar. Jace! Focus on Heidi. Daniel keep your eyes on Lena!"
Clary turned back to the boy who was dressed in all black. He was tensed for attack, Clary did the same. Julian was the first to strike, Clary blocked it and returned with a kick. The two of them went on like this until Julian had Clary pinned.
By the end of the class Clary had to fight everyone in the class, only being defeated by Jace and Julian. Who seemed to have an instant liking for each other. Daniel disliked him.
"Clary," Julian said after their training session, "Will you show me around Alicante? Alec offered but between us I think you're better looking than he is," Julian winked.
"Sure," Clary smiled at Julian, Daniel was glaring at him. "I'll meet you after I shower. Front lobby."
Clary walked up to her room, she knew that Julian had his own room and Heidi was rooming with Aislin. Lena was sitting on the floor looking ragged when Clary walked in.
"What?" Clary asked Lena.
"Ughh, that was a hard training. Me, Alec, Aline, Sebastian, Sadie and Mitch are in one group. And it hurts."
"Who hurt you Lena?" Clary teased as she undressed.
"Your goddanm brother, he's so strong."
"Trust me I know." Clary got into the shower. Lena was still on the floor when she got out.
"Do you ever go on dates?" Clary asked as she dressed.
Lena nodded, "My black boots would look nice with that outfit," Lena said, "I've got a date tonight actually."
Clary paused as she was pulling on Lena's boots. "Who with?" Clary asked with a wink.
"Drew, you've met him. He asked me to dinner so I figured why the hell not, you know about the big party thing this weekend right?"
Clary winced internally, "Oh yes, I do know about that. Of course."
"Do you have a dress for it? A date?"
Clary shook her head, "No dress, no date. I assume you'll have something I can borrow?"
Lena just nodded, "Have fun with Julian, he's so attractive."
Clary shoved her steele, a blade, her phone, wallet and keys into her bag and the dagger Sebastian had given her into her belt. "Have fun with Drew," Clary smiled at Lena before making her way from the room.
Julian was talking to his tall parabiti when Clary walked down to the entrance hall. "Just be careful is all i'm saying, you're new here and she's scary. Julian she kicked my ass, no one has kicked my ass in forever. I know you want to meet your family but you have to worry about how they'll treat you, have you even met Max or Isabelle?"
"I'm not dangerous, I won't let anything happen to him and Izzy and Max are coming down now from traning," Clary said to Heidi and Julian.
As if on a queue Isabelle and Max Lightwood walked down the staircase. Max froze when he saw Julian. Clary noted how similar Julian looked to Max, especially with their matching thick rimmed glasses.
"You two look so alike," Isabelle pointed out as she moved closer to Julian, "Alec told us about you, we're meeting our parents at 6pm and Clary will bring you," Isabelle said curtly before she gave Julian a hug, "I'm sorry he was such an ass to you. You look just like we do." Isabelle turned on a dime and went back up to her bedroom.
"What she said," Max said awkwardly. He pushed his glasses up his nose and hurried from the hall.
Julian turned to Heidi and smiled, "See, i'm in good hands Heidi, not to mention the fact that i'm a big boy. Go make friends Heidi, I am."
Julian turned and looked at Clary, who nodded and lead the way from the Institute, "So you and that Herondale guy?"
"Are friends," Clary finished, "Why?"
Julian shrugged, "I look to know the competition before I strike. He isn't someone i'd want to fuck with."
"Oh he isn't, but don't worry about him. Prepare for the beauty of Alicante."
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
"I've got dinner with my family at six," Isabelle said to Simon after she barged into his dark flat.
"Hello to you too," Simon said closing the door behind Isabelle, "No i'm great, come in, you didn't disturb me at all."
Isabelle rolled her eyes, "Clary says hello," She said in an offhand way as she slumped down onto the couch in Simon's apartment.
"Clary?" Simon tasted the name, "As in Clarissa Morgenstern?"
"Yup, our friendly neighborhood Angel girl," Isabelle said as she flicked through Simon's comic book. "She remembered you and said hello."
Simon sat down beside Isabelle at looked at her, he was a bit stunned by the fact that a girl like Isabelle was having anything to do with him. She was beautiful. "I met my brother for the first time last night."
SImon was pulled from his musings about the pretty woman, "Other than Alec and Max you have another brother?"
"Julian Inkpen, he's a year younger than Alec, two older than myself. I hear he's a really skilled hunter, he's well known."
"Does he look like a Lightwood?"
Isabelle nodded, causing her hair to fall into her face, "Identical to Max really. He's meeting mum and dad tonight. Clary is bringing him."
"What would your parents say about this?" Simon asked, waving his hand towards himself.
"What?"
"About you conversing and talking with a sexy Vampire like myself."
Isabelle chuckled, "I've been dating downworlders for a time now, it really makes no difference to them at this point. I'm with who I want to be. I have a feeling they will be divorcing soon so I could marry Clary and they wouldn't notice."
"Don't you go eloping with Clary now," Simon warned, "She's a firecracker."
Isabelle laughed easily and smiled over at Simon, "You are too funny."
"Why thank you, i'm here until sundown, and probably after that because I don't leave the house."
Isabelle rolled her eyes, "You want to play Zelda?" Simon asked with a bright smile, he was hopeful but he didn't actually expect Isabelle to agree to that.
"Sure, lets play."
Simon sat there shocked for a moment before sliding to the floor and going over the rules for the dark eyed beauty that sat cross legged beside him.
"Where's Clary?" Jace asked Lena before the pretty girl left the Academy.
Lena cocked an eyebrow, "She went off with Julian, then she's going to the Lightwoods for some family meet and greet."
"Thanks Lena," Jace said halfheartedly before he turned and stalked back up the stairs.
Alec was sitting on his bed with his nose buried in a book when Jace slammed the door closed. "Whats wrong Jace?" Alec asked, not lifting his eyes up from the book.
"I dont know anymore Alec," Jace said before he threw himself onto his bed. He checked his phone. "Jonathan Christopher, please come home- Mom" Jace ignored the text and went back to sulking on his bed.
"Who are you gonna take to that party thing this weekend?" Alec asked casually.
Jace shrugged, "I was going to ask Clary, but I have a feeling Daniel and Julian will have me beat. So i'll just take someone else I guess."
"Julian?" Alec asked, "As in my bastard brother Julian?"
"The one and only, he's got Clary showing him around Alicante right now. She's got half the guys here fawning over her."
"Of course she does, Jace," Alec sighed, "She's one-of-a-kind, she's smart and interesting. Not to mention the way she looks. If you want her, you have to show her why you should have her. You may have to wait but if you love her you'll let her figure her shit out, don't just mope around. Get your shit together, until you do something about it shut up about it."
Jace looked at Alec with a shocked expression. He hadn't been expecting that in the slightest, Alec never questioned anything that Jace did, ever. Jace nodded and left the room. In search of Sebastian, he wanted a good fight.
Max sat uncomfortably on the couch in his living room, Isabelle was perched on the arm and Alec sat on the chair facing opposite him.
"Whats the meaning of this Alexander?" Mayrse demanded. Alec hadn't told them what it was about, Max watched with weary eyes.
A knock at the door answered the question. Alec jumped up to get the door before either of his parents could move. Max could hear the low rasp to Alec's voice, a higher laugh, and a nervous cough.
"Father, Mother. Meet Julian," Alec said as he steered Clary and Julian into the living room, "My half brother."
Julian ran a hand through his hair, "Mrs. Lightwood, i'm sorry," Julian said quietly before he turned his eyes to Robert Lightwood. "Well father, nice to finally meet you."
Robert's face paled and Mayrse looked outraged, "Robert! You don't even know the boy? You had a child that is clearly about as old as Alexander and you didn't even bother to know him."
Robert shook his head, his mouth sett in a cold line, "Where is Lillian?"
Julian looked disgusted, "She's dead, she was killed on a hunt eight years ago. When I was eleven. But you never bothered to reply to my letters."
Robert turned his eyes to Alec, "How could you do this to our family?"
It was Isabelle who jumped up before Max could stop her, "Alec didn't do anything to the family! You're the one who slept with some woman, had a kid then abandoned him. Mum might have understood if you owned up to Julian! But you didn't! See how much he looks like us, he's strong like us too. Like most of us I mean," Isabelle snarled, "Seems that some Lightwoods are spineless."
Robert struck Isabelle hard across the face, sending the girl reeling. Julian and Clary grabed Alec before he could attack his father.
Mayrse stood up and folded her arms, "Get our of this house Robert. Don't bother to come back. You will never lay a hand on one of my children again. Julian is just a boy, this is your fault, don't blame him."
Max had never heard his mother speak up to his father, but he never felt prouder of his mother, sister and brother. They all stood up Robert, who thought he had his family under his thumb.
"Max?" Robert asked, his voice suddenly sad. "I.. I'm sorry."
Max kept his face in a controlled blank look. Robert Lightwood left his house. Leaving the lightwood children, Clary and Mayrse sitting in silence.
"This isn't your fault," Mayrse said to Alec and Julian, "Things between Robert and I have been on a cliff for a long time now. I knew he had affairs, but I didn't know he had another child, if i had.. I... I could have provided you with a better life."
"With all due respect Mrs. Lightwood," Julian said softly, "I'm glad you didn't. I have my parabiti, and my expeirences. Now is my time to have a family."
"You're always welcome with us," Mayrse said, "Robert may not own up to his decisions but I will for him." Mayrse suddenly turned her attention to Clary, "You look just like Jocelyn, Clarissa. I voted for you to come back here."
"Thank you Mayrse," Clary said quietly.
"I hate to be rude but I need to lay down," Mayrse said. She walked from the living room with an airy look on her face.
Alec looked at his sister, "You okay Iz?"
Isabelle nodded, she had a raised red mark on her cheek, "He hits like a girl."
They all started to laugh then, it wasn't the most appropriate occasion to laugh at but they couldn't help it.
"That went just as i'd expected," Isabelle said as they left the Lightwood manor. "Don't be out too late Clary, there's an early morning training session."
Clary laughed, "Okay mom," Clary said teasingly.
Max walked back to the Academy alone, everyone else claiming they had things to do. A pretty girl with pink hair was sitting on the porch with a thick book.
"What's up Alice?" Max said, dropping down in front of the girl.
"Just studying," Alice said with a smile, "Trying to keep on top of things."
Max scoffed, "We've had like two lessons."
"Not everyone was automatically allowed to be here, only the best get to study here."
"I failed the entrance exams last year," Max admitted, "Thats why i'm not a higher level yet."
That made Alice giggle, "Good job Max."
"Do you have a date for the party thing?" Max asked before he could stop himself. The pretty girl with pink hair and green eyes shook her head no. "Would you like to go with me?"
"I'd love to Max," Alice said with a lopsided grin. Max and Alice decided to walk around the grounds together.
OOOOOOOOOOOOooooOOOOOOOO
"Jace...help, come help, quickly, helpsoh fopefwwb" Jace jumped out of his bed quickly. His mother would never send something like that unless she needed help. Jace cursed, he didn't know where Alec, Isabelle, or Clary were so he ran to Sebastian's room.
"Sebastian," Jace said breathlessly, showing his friend the text. Sebastian, like Jace, knew that the text meant trouble.
The two of them raced to get their things together. "Where's the fire, boys?" Heidi asked as she watched Jace and Sebastian frantically run between their two bedrooms.
"My parents are in trouble. We can't find any of our friends," Jace said, "We can't go in there alone."
"I've got nothing better to do," Heidi said, "I'm still dressed for training so let's go. From what i've heard about you I figure that your parents are pretty kick ass too."
Jace nodded, "They are some of the best of their generation."
Jace ran from the academy with Sebastian and Heidi following close behind. Jace knew how accomplished his parents were with fighting, they were the best. As he hurried to his house Jace thought about the people in his fathers year in the Academy.
Jocelyn Fairchild, a strong and fierce fighter. Mayrse Trueblood, a proud, strong and generous woman, a woman who Jace felt closer to than his own mother. Stephen Herondale, the dangerous, violent, and powerful friend to Valentine. Lucian Graymark, the shy, and quiet boy who loved Jocelyn quietly and was Valentines parabati. Valentine Morgenstern, tall, strong and crazy he wanted everything to be downworlder free, the man who made Jace who he was. Hodge Starkweather, a fierce supporter of Valentine who has not been heard from in a long time.
Jace was pulled from his thoughts by the sight of his house. The front door was open and all the lights were off.
"Jace?" Heidi asked quietly, "Could Val..."
"Yup," Jace said, "He's waiting for us." Jace suddenly wanted Alec to be at his side, Alec always had his back, protecting Jace like a brother. Clary would be another asset to have with him, Valentine would never harm Clary.
Jace lead the way into the house, his witch-light in one hand, seraph blade in the other. "Mom!" Jae yelled into the house, he didn't care about his father, it was his mother that Jace was worried about. "Mom where are you!"
Jace heard a loud piercing scream from the library and took off in search of the source. He tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. Jace was going to burst through the solid door with his shoulder when Heidi rolled her eyes and drew the 'Open' rune on the door. The doors flew open.
"Jonathan-Christopher. How nice of you to join us," Valentine said, "Sebastian good to see you, you look well. Heidi Noir, you really are as beautiful as your mother. Where's Clarissa? And Alexander, those two are rarely far from you."
Jace looked at his mother, she was tied to a chair, her head hanging limply. Stephen Herondale stood beside Valentine with a smug smile. "Clarissa is with the Lightwood bastard boy, i've been keeping tabs on her," Stephen said.
Valentine shrugged, "Join me Jonathan?" He held a hand out to Jace, "You can be great."
"Nice try," Sebastian said.
"You as well Sebastian, my son. It is not just your sister and Jonathan that I believe to be powerful, you have the skill that i did when I was but a young man like you. Join us and you can be as powerful as Jonathan and Clarissa."
Jace saw a flash in Sebastian's eyes, he was worried for half a second before he recognized the flash as hatred. "You have made Clarissa into a shell of what she could be. I won't join you, not ever."
Jace locked eyes with his mother she mouthed the words 'leave me' but Jace wouldn't leave his mother. "Let my mother go and we won't have a problem," Jace said.
Valentine chuckled, "Beautiful Celine Herondale," Valentine lifted Celiene's head up so he could look in her eyes, "Its time for your choice dear. Your husband, or your son."
"I'm not your puppet anymore Valentine," Celine said, "My choice will always be my son."
Jace took Valentines lapse in attention to charge, he pushed Valentine away from his mother and prepared for a fight. Valentine just shrugged and looked at Stephen, "Deal with your offspring Stephen, clearly he isn't what I thought."
Valentine strode from the library, Sebastian followed him. Heidi started to untie Celine as Jace fought with his father. Despite the age difference Stephen was still strong, he couldn't quite get the upper hand from his son. Jace soon held his father to the wall, his blade pressed against the soft flesh of his throat. All it would take would be for Jace to press the blade down harder and end his fathers life.
But he couldn't. "You're weak Jonathan," Stephen said as he pushed past his son, "To much of your mother in you. You have the heart of a mouse."
Jace dropped his blade and stared at the floor. His father was right, Jace was too much of a mouse to finish him off.
I hope you enjoyed that! Give me feedback please!
