I'm so sorry I made you wait an eternity for this chapter. Long story short, I was ill. I've been sick for years and I had a relapse. I had to get better physically and mentally. At the beginning, I wrote this story to come to terms with what was happening to me. Spencer's struggle was my struggle when I discovered I had a problem and, just like him, I had to come to terms with what was happening to me. Now I'm really better, so I decided to continue this story. I hope you will continue to like it.
Chapter 6
"Spencer, please, you have to eat" Derek begged him, but the kid didn't want to hear. He didn't want to drink that disgusting red liquid.
Blood, it's blood… and it's the only thing you'll have from now on… a voice in his head said, shouting at him.
He grabbed his head again, trying to silence it, but he couldn't.
Since he went through the Change and survived, his head felt incredibly heavy, his eyes hurt, now extremely sensible to the light of the room.
"P-please, D-Derek… I don't want to…p-please…" he begged his best friend, looking at him with big puppy eyes.
His irises were becoming paler and paler. He was starving.
Derek sighed "I know, kid… I swear, I know how you feel but… no no no, look at me" the kid lowered his red eyes, scratching at his left hand nervously.
The young newborn vampire tried to lift his gaze, but he couldn't stand the look he found in the werewolf's yellow eyes.
Derek was tired, sad… but Spencer could read something else in his eyes. Morgan was scared.
Scared for him, or maybe of him. Spencer couldn't tell, but he didn't want his friend to feel like that because of him.
"I know how you feel, but you can't give up now… you have to drink it" Derek sat on a chair near the hospital bad, opening the small blood bag with his teeth and placing it in front of his young friend.
Looking at the red liquid, Spencer almost puked.
" I can't… I know I need to… b- but really, I can't"
"Kid, please…do it for me" Derek pleaded him.
"I said I won't!" Spencer shouted, throwing the bag at the wall next to him.
"Spencer!" Derek shouted, grabbing Spencer by the shoulders, hard "Listen to me, kid! I know you're struggling, I know you're hurting, but you can't behave like that! You think you're the only one that is struggling? Guess what, kid! You're not!"
The werewolf shouted directly at his face, and Spencer tried to make himself as smaller as possible. The kid started to tremble in Derek's grip.
Derek wasn't angry at Spencer. He really wasn't. He was just tired.
And hurting.
Spencer's pain was his pain. Just looking at his best friend reduced at that trembling, scared child made his blood boil with rage.
If only he could take away an ounce of the pain Spencer was feeling, if only he knew how to help him…
He didn't mean to upset the kid, but now Spencer was pressed into a tight ball, head on knees, crying desperately.
He let the vampire go, as if the contact with his best friend burned his skin.
"What did I do? Stupid Derek, stupid dog!"
"Kid…I'm sorry…I didn't mean to…" he started to say, reaching out a hand to touch his best friend.
Spencer surprised him again.
"I wanted to die last night…You could have let me die. Now you wouldn't be struggling so much if you just had let me die!"
And that was it.
That single sentence made Derek's heart leap and his blood boil.
He wanted to say so much.
He wanted to shout "You're not the only one who had this terrible experience! Do you really think I was born a werewolf? How do you think I became one? You're not the only one who was hurt by a monster and had to accept to become one!
But he didn't say that. He couldn't. Not now, maybe never.
His past was too dark and he wasn't ready to tell the kid the truth.
Instead he did something that would haunt him for the rest of his life.
He left.
He left Spencer alone with his fear, with his anger and misery.
Spencer followed Derek with his red stare and when his friend left the room, he allowed himself to cry harder and harder.
Until he cried himself to sleep.
"I'm really thirsty" was his last, rational thought before his eyes closed and he was welcomed by sweet darkness.
"Sons of a bitch!" he recognized that voice. It was Rossi, his boss.
He woke up slowly and didn't want to open his eyes. He was so scared of what he could find behind his eyelids.
"Rossi, please, we're in a hospital" it was JJ this time, her sweet voice managed to reassure the newborn vampire a bit.
"I don't care! I can't believe something like this happened to Spencer! Quei bastardi*!" his boss was so angry, Spencer could hear him growl from his bed.
"Where was Derek, uhm? I told him to keep an eye on him, what was he thinking about, leaving him alone on the streets? Where is he now?"
"Not his fault" Spencer whispered, loud enough to be heard by Rossi, who approached the bed with a hurry.
"It's alright son, everything is going to be fine" the old werewolf said with pain and sadness clearly written in his eyes.
Spencer opened his eyes slowly, and they were immediately stabbed by the bright light of the room.
He moaned, trying to adjust to the light. Rossi looked at his eyes. They were white. The poor kid was probably starving.
"When was the last time you eat?" he asked the young man.
The kid looked at the wall. It was clean.
Somebody had cleaned the blood he had splattered on it.
Spencer closed his eyes " I won't touch a single drop of blood. It's disgusting!" he almost shouted, a single tear sliding from one of his closed eyes.
He opened his white eyes to look at Rossi.
The old werewolf was clearly worried about him.
One of Rossi's hands touched the kid's arm, trying to give at least some comfort.
Spencer almost jumped out of his skin at the contact and tensed up.
"Don't touch me. I'm a danger for all of you" he growled, trying to sound at least a little intimidating that the scared little kitten he felt like.
Rossi gave him a small, tired smile " No, you're not kid. You may be a vampire now, but I can assure you, nobody here is going to leave you alone in this situation. We're all here to help" Dave tried to touch him again, gaining the same reaction from Spencer.
" I don't want you here…I don't want your help! You, JJ, Derek, you weren't there when I needed you…you weren't there when he…when he…"
He couldn't finish his sentence.
Suddenly he felt nauseous, the world began spinning around him , his chest became tighter and tighter as seconds passed by.
He barely felt Rossi take his head between his hands and carefully guide it on the pillow.
"You need to eat, kid. I will tell the nurse to bring some bags of blood and…"
"No! Leave me alone! I want to die, I want to die! Please, let me die!" Spencer began to trash on the bed.
JJ couldn't watch his friend, his little brother hurting like that.
"It's all Derek's fault! He should have stayed with you! He should have protected you!"She shouted between tears and sobs.
Hearing Derek's name, Spencer stopped suddenly, looking to the chair near the bed.
It was empty.
Suddenly, it was as all the air left his lungs.
"Where's Derek?" he asked, his bottom lip was trembling.
" He called us last night. Or maybe it was this morning, considering how late it was… we hurried up but he wasn't here when we arrived"
Tears were streaming down Spencer's cheeks "He left me…he doesn't want me anymore"
Rossi was really worried.
Reid didn't want any of them to be with him but was melting down because Derek wasn't there.
It could be the shock but the kid was clearly out of his mind.
Where the fuck are you, Derek?
" Kid… Kid, stop"
Spencer was having a complete meltdown. He grabbed his hair and began pulling at his scalp, rocking back and forth.
"He hates me now, please don't hate me Derek, please…I'm sorry, I didn't want it, I swear…please forgive me"
He was repeating the words like a mantra, sobbing and trembling between each word.
It was heartbreaking to watch.
And Rossi didn't know what to do.
He tried to grab his hands, but the moment he touched him, the kid became incredibly violent.
He smacked Rossi's hand away, shouting "Don't touch me! Don't touch me please!"
JJ started to cry harder "Spencer, please. It's alright, we're here for you"
"I think he's having a flashback. We need to call the doctors"
"Please, I don't want it! Please! I'm sorry for what I said, please leave me alone!" the kid was screaming and crying before their eyes.
Rossi pressed the button to call the nurses, who rushed inside the room seconds later.
The two male nurses grabbed Spencer by both his arms and pressed him against the bed, while the doctor entered the room.
He watched the young vampire on the bed "What happened ?" he asked the werewolf.
Rossi was having a hard time trying to control the sadness in his voice "I think he's having a flashback…we were talking and suddenly he began to trash and scream"
The doctor didn't let the man finish his sentence " I said it wasn't advisable to let him stay with werewolves" he almost growled " I need both of you to leave my patient alone…get out of the room"
He approached the bed, looked at Spencer and took a syringe out of his coat, filling it with a white liquid.
Spencer was still trashing and screaming at the top of his lungs "Please! Let me go! Derek! Derek! Help me!"
"You can't do this! He's scared, he needs us!" Rossi shouted to the doctor, who didn't seem to be paying attention to him.
The man filled the syringe and stabbed Spencer on the neck with it.
It was as the kid was having a seizure.
He trashed harder, then suddenly stopped, moaning.
"What did you give him? What was that?"
"Something to make him relax…now, can you please leave the room or I need to call the security?"
"You can't do that "JJ said suddenly, tears in her eyes and in her voice.
"Oh, I assure you I can…and I will. I can do better. I could have you arrested here and now. What will the police say when I'll tell them that two werewolves were trying to hurt one of my patients?"
"We're his friends" JJ replied, she couldn't believe what the doctor was saying.
"Oh, Miss… You seriously think the police will believe you? Vampires and werewolf are enemies. It has always been like this, and it will always be" the human said with a smirk.
Rossi couldn't believe at what he was witnessing, but he wasn't totally surprised.
Humans had accepted vampires and werewolves, but the latter would always be considered less than animals.
It was one of the many injustices of this world. And he couldn't do much about it.
He only hoped that Spencer would be in good hands before he would take the kid home with them.
So he guided JJ out of the room with a hand on her back "We can't help him now, JJ…just let the doctor do his job" he said, with a note of sadness in his voice.
As he was leaving the room, he heard one of the nurse say "Should we restrain him?"
Rossi closed his eyes. JJ sobbed harder.
"Calm down, JJ. Everything will be alright. We won't surrender" he said, drawing circles on her back with his hand "Spencer is strong. It may not seem like he is, but he's a fighter. We will figure something out"
"That's not fair. Something like this…happening to him… he's good, he's the best sweetest person I know" She could barely speak between all the sobs.
"I know…I know"
They were about to turn the first corner of the corridor, when suddenly they bumped into something.
Or someone.
"Derek! Where the fuck have you been?!"
*"Those bastards!"
I hope this chapter was good. Spencer will be a mess for a while, but he will get better, eventually.
Let me know what you think and if you found any mistake.
See you soon!
