This is a bit of a shorter chapter, sorry! It's been a hectic summer for me and I am about to start my freshman year of college, so I cannot promise faster updates. I can promise I will get out chapters as fast as I am able to, though! I hope you all had a good summer and have a great year at school!

Emmeline Phoenix12: Hmmm… we'll just have to wait and see, won't we? ;)

Zelouche: Thank you so much! I'm very glad you like it!

wouldratherbeaunicorn: Totally! Girls are awesome! FNAF is Five Nights at Freddy's.

TheEmeraldQueen: My roommate and I are both OBSESSED with FNAF. Game Theory has the best lore, by far. I cannot wait for the update. The items found will be important. You're on the right track with the skull… :)

RandomPotterhead: I'm very glad you like it, and I'm so sorry it took so long to update!

MiaBelles: I'm very glad you like it! It's a really interesting concept, in my mind, and I'm glad you are enjoying it! I try to let the chemistry with the characters stay close to their personalities, so while the other characters mesh really well at the moment, Katniss and Peeta don't, and that is just because how they are written in the books.

January 4th:

Annie and Johanna look at one another with nervous looks on their faces. We are approaching the end of our allotted month to start having kids for project colonization. If neither one of them are pregnant now, it is likely we will be cut off from resources. "Are you ready, Jo?"

Johanna sighs and goes and picks up the pregnancy tests we were provided in the beginning from underneath the bathroom counter. "As I'll ever be."

Annie looks at me and I give her a reassuring smile. She takes a step closer to me, and I take her in my arms. I give her a quick kiss on her forehead and lean my head down to whisper in her ear. "No matter what, I'll be here for you."

Annie steps away and looks at Jo, who is having a similar exchange with Gale. The two go away from us and go into the bathroom. Gale and I go and wait in the living room. Peeta and Katniss decided that they ought to go and fish, hunt, gather, whatever they can to get out of the building. I can hardly blame them. I wouldn't want to be in the house if I was in their shoes. If Johanna or Annie does end up being pregnant, that is both good news and bad news. Likely there will be tears involved. If neither of them end up being pregnant, there will be tears involved. I'm sure Katniss wanted to avoid the crying and Peeta wanted to keep her company. "Hey, Finn?"

I look over at Gale who is sitting on the couch, rubbing his temples with his fingers. "What is it?"

"I'm not ready to be a dad." His voice is quiet, hitting a very low decimal in volume, hardly above a whisper. The words echo in my mind. The same thoughts have been going through my head. I have only been nervous a few times in my life; none of them compare to the nerves I am having now.

"I know how you feel." If we both end up having to become fathers to new children, we will likely depend heavily on one another. If only one of us does, it is still likely we will be constantly calling for their help.

"How do you think they are doing?" He is tapping his foot rapidly on the wooden floor.

"I'm sure they're doing fine, at the moment. Surely it's too soon for them to know. Even once they find out, they'll probably talk to one another before they come down to talk to us."

Silence.

Eventually we get tired of waiting with an absence of noise, so we turn on the television to netflix and turn on the first Christmas movie we see. On the island, it can be hard to forget when the different seasons are. It can be hard to remember Christmas had just passed. The movie, neither of us paid any attention to the name, provides little distraction. We are distracted by every sound coming from the floor above. The girls stayed up there for what seemed like forever. We were doing our best attempt at making dinner when we set a piece of fish on fire in the kitchen and Annie had to come down to ask what happened.

"We tried to make dinner," I said quietly. Annie rolled her eyes and gave me a quick peck on the lips before making her way to the fridge and pulling out supplies to make sandwiches. "What about you and Jo? What are you guys going to eat?"

"We're not hungry. We'll be down when we are, I'm sure." Annie started to make her way up the stairs when Gale yelled after her.

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" She ignored the question. "Man, this waiting is driving me insane. Obviously they know, and obviously they have come to terms with whatever the result is."

I shrug. "We'll find out eventually. They're probably waiting until Katniss and Peeta get back before they tell us."

Sure enough, the moment Katniss and Peeta walk through the door from the dock, Johanna and Annie make their way down the stairs. Johanna is looking down at her feet, and from the expression on her face, I cannot tell if we were successful or if we failed. Annie manages to provide a few more hints. Her hair is wet and no hairbrush has been applied to it. It's a lion's mane cascading down past her shoulders, barley reaching the bottom of her breasts. It means she probably took a bath while she was upstairs and dunked her head in the water. She does that to help her think. The long, chocolate colored strands are tangled. The bangs that she arrived with here are long gone, grown out with the rest of her hair. I know she dunks her head in the water when she is trying to think. She wouldn't have had to think if Johanna was pregnant and she wasn't, so there are only three things the two girls can tell us: one, Annie is pregnant and Johanna isn't, two, they are both pregnant, or, three, neither of them are. I fear that any of them are true.

"Well, I guess you guys want to know some things, huh?" Johanna says, breaking a bit of the tension in the room. We all nod. "Well, it took a while because we both wanted to triple check our results, and then we wanted to figure out what to tell you guys." Johanna took a pause and looked at Annie. "You wanna tell 'em?" Annie shook her head. "Alright, then. Well Gale has successfully knocked me up. Congrats. We get to safely stay on the island."

I release a breath I didn't know I was holding and feel relief surge through me. For me, it is the best possible outcome. Annie doesn't have to worry and Project Colonization will continue to sponsor us. I look at Johanna who has her best brave face on. I realize how easily it could be Annie and myself in their situation. "Why don't we leave the two of them alone," I whisper to Annie. Gale is looking quite pale. Annie nods and we walk out the back exit, going to the dock and getting onto one of the jetski's we have. I get on the other one and we race, careful not to get dunked in the water. Though the climate is fairly tropical, it is still January, and the water is fairly cold. Eventually we get the jetskis back to the dock and we grab a couple of towels and go onto the back lawn and just star gaze.

So sorry for taking so long with the chapter! I've been busy this summer, with a musical, a mission trip to Honduras, moving in at my college, and working on a project for fandom4lls!

Fandom4lls is an organization helping raise money leukemia. Different authors are invited to write pieces to be read and to help raise money! Please check it out! I have a teaser for an upcoming story on the site and it is for a great cause!

Question of the Day

What did you guys do this summer?
