Last time on Death Parade…

"Jou, I—" Honda reached out to him and took a step forward, making the blond flinch upon being snapped out of his thoughts. Honda lowered his head and his hand then shuffled off to the kitchen to prepare dinner for the two of them.

Katsuya rubbed his wrist and sat down on the bed. That dream earlier… If Kaiba and I are really… He blushed brightly at the thought. Then I guess Honda has a right to be paranoid about my leaving the house…. He sighed and tilted his head towards the kitchen. I'm sorry Hiro… You deserve a lot better than me…

Captivity

Wha- Jounouchi groaned and opened his eyes. My-my body feels heavy…

"Oh you're awake." Honda smiled down at him. "You fell asleep right after we ate dinner. Are you feeling ok?" Jou's head turned slightly to face him but when he tried to speak the words refused to leave his lips.

"Here let me get you some coffee." Honda stood and went to the kitchen.

Why can't I move? The blond looked down at his hands and wiggled his fingers. The digits moved much to his relief, albeit a bit slowly. He concentrated on trying to sit up.

"Here let me help you." Honda set the mug down and assisted his friend. "Your head looks like its nearly fully healed. We can probably leave the bandage off now." The brunette stated looking at his crown.

Katsuya quietly sipped on the coffee. His eyes felt puffy and weighted, his head was groggy, making simply focusing on Honda's words a task in itself.

"I'll go make us some lunch." Honda announced after changing the bandage on his shoulder.

Lunch? That means its afternoon… Did I sleep too long? No. There's no such thing as sleeping too long. Jou's lip curled into a smirk. Yugi and Anzu just say that 'cause they're early birds. Maybe I'm coming down with something… He looked into his coffee cup, blinking slowly, it wasn't long before the world went dark.

"Jou?" Yugi questioned sitting in a booth at the maid café his friend worked at.

"Yeah?" The blond responded, cleaning the adjacent table.

"You and Kaiba…" Yugi looked down, a bit uncomfortable.

"hm?"

"You guys don't get along very well do you…" The smaller man stated with a small sigh.

"What do you mean?" The blond stopped what he was doing and turned to his friend.

"Well, it just seems like you two are always fighting… I mean before it made sense, but now…"

"Just because we're dating doesn't mean our personalities have changed at all. Kaiba is still jerk-faced dick-wad and I'm still a loud-mouthed punk with a temper." Jou shrugged his shoulders.

"That's what I mean though!" Yugi gave him a worried look. "You've been dating for nearly a year and it hasn't gotten any better. You're both still acting like you hate each other!"

"What? Look, just because we fight doesn't mean we hate each other. Kaiba just likes picking on me and getting me riled up." Jou ran a hand through his hair. "And I know when I lose my temper I tend to blow up pretty bad, especially at him, so if I feel like I'm getting to that point I make sure to put some distance between us before I say something stupid…"

"That's why you guys go so long without talking?" Violet eyes looked up at the blond waiter.

"Yup!" He grinned. "I get time to cool off and—" Jou looked around before whispering into Yugi's ear. "Kaiba actually gets kinda clingy when we don't see each other for a few days." He grinned, sticking his tongue out when Yugi blushed.

"I can't imagine him like that…" The smaller man tried to visualize Seto Kaiba attaching himself to Jou's hip.

"Yeah, it's not really his style, but he has his own way of doing things, even when it comes to things like that. You just have to know what to look for." He smiled.

"So….. You're ok then?" Yugi questioned.

"Of course! What brought all this on all of sudden anyway?"

"Honda said it looked like someone had hit you the other day… he was worried it might have been Kaiba because you guys argue so much, but he didn't think you would tell him if something like that had happened." Yugi stirred his drink with his straw.

"Huh? Oh! That was Kaiba's punch alright!" Yugi jumped in surprise and stared at the blond who seemed to be grinning with pride. "Just the wrong one. I was teaching Mokuba how to fight and the little twerp actually got me pretty good." He rubbed his cheek nostalgically. "Though I think it scared him, 'cause now he's refusing to practice… It's too bad too, the kids got talent."

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Ngh…" Katsuya groaned and turned his head, looking out the glass doors that led to a small balcony. Evening? I guess I fell asleep again? Where's Honda? He slowly lifted his head to look around. Maybe he had lectures today?

"Oh good you're up." Hiroto entered from the kitchen. "How are you feeling? Up for some soup?" He held up a bowl. "Afterwards I'll help you with a bath if you like." He offered, blushing as he helped Jou sit up and handed him the bowl.

"Y-yeah…" Jou managed to say with a small nod.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Kaiba? Are you ok?" Jou asked watching his lover with concern.

"Fine…" Grunted the tall brunette as he staggered to his desk.

"You don't look fine… When was the last time you slept?" He approached cautiously.

"What day is it?" Bloodshot blue eyes glanced at his calendar. "Have to finish revising this…" He scribbled on a paper.

"Have you eaten today?"

"Mokuba brought lunch.." He did some quick calculations then wrote down the results.

Jou looked around the room and found the lunch the younger Kaiba had brought his brother. "You haven't touched it." He said dryly.

"What? Of course I did." The brunette retorted.

"It's still sealed…" The blond pinched the bridge of his nose holding up the food with the other hand. Kaiba turned to look at the meal.

"So it is.. What did I eat then?" He questioned.

"My guess is that you haven't today…" He sat on the bed. "You're going to get sick at this rate."

"I told you I'm fine." The brunette turned to his work once more.

"Seto…" Jou called quietly, Kaiba flinched; he knew that voice… Jou's 'come hither' voice; and Jou knew it was the one thing Kaiba couldn't resist.

"Puppy…" He answered.

"Come lay with me. Thirty minutes, that's all I'm asking." He rubbed the pillow next to him. "If you don't I'll keep talking and bothering you until you don't know which way is up anymore." He threatened with a grin.

"Fine." Kaiba groaned set his pen down, staggering to his bed, he let himself fall onto it instead of climbing in.

Jounouchi giggled and straddled his backside then began rubbing and messaging his back and shoulders. Sooner than Puppy had expected, Kaiba was sound asleep. Hazel orbs gazed upon his lover softly. He leaned down and kissed the CEO's cheek before lying next to him and quickly drifting off to dreamland himself.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What the hell… Why can't I stay awake for more than a few minutes… I've barely eaten anything and that's not helping how heavy my body feels. It's even harder to move now. Jou glanced around the room. Every time I sleep I dream about Kaiba… is it really because I'm having an affair with him? Or maybe its Honda I'm having an affair with? This makes no sense… Maybe I'm just getting Hiro and Kaiba mixed up because of the injury?

Jou slowly sat up, looking around the living room. I guess He's at school… What day is it? He looked out at the balcony again. Evening again? How did I sleep through a whole day?! He groaned.

"Ugh… My head…." He groaned. It almost feels like… No… Hiro wouldn't… right? There's no way! Jou jumped slightly at the sound of the front door opening.

"Oh, thank goodness. I was getting worried! Did you just wake up? I've been messaging you since this morning." The brunette entered the apartment and took off his shoes.

Messaging me? Jounouchi had nearly forgotten that he owned a phone! He found his cell laying next to him on the bed, he picked it up and began scrolling through the messages. It's all from Honda… Who the hell leaves 20 messages for someone they're going to see in a few hours anyway?

"I bought some take out on the way home. Nothing spectacular, just some ramen… I'll go warm it up, you hungry?" Hiroto smiled at Jou who nodded in agreement.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Jou!" Honda cried out. Frantically the blond struggled to get out of the bigger man's grip. His father had him by the throat, a few inches off the ground. Hiroto ran towards them, fists balled and ready to swing.

"Ngh!" Was all Katsuya could manage before the older man grabbed hold of Honda's arm, twisted it then through him across the room. Jou closed his eyes afraid to see the state of his friend.

He could hear his father's voice but the words were distorted. The sounds bellowed through his ears but his mind refused to process them into anything remotely coherent. Despite his best efforts Jou could feel tears running down his cheeks as he was slammed into a wall. More incoherencies from the bellowing voice plagued his mind before darkness consumed it.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"You won't be needing this then…" The chocolate eyed brunette quietly took the blonde's phone from beside him. "Sorry Jou…" He sighed "but I think Yami's been talking to Kaiba… and we can't have them tracking your phone here…" He pocketed the device. "I'm sorry it had to be this way…" Honda ran his fingers through blond tresses before leaving.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Not again…" Katsuya groaned. It feels like I'm being drugged… I don't even know what day it is anymore… He looked around for his phone. Huh… where…. Maybe Honda put it on a charger? He slowly sat up and placed his feet on the floor. Daylight… Honda is probably at school. Jou stood on shaky legs but fell to the floor when he tried to walk.

"Damn it…" Jou cursed his weakened state. I even skipped eating most of dinner because I was suspicious… He grunted as he got to his feet. It's getting hard to tell where the dreams end and reality begins… I can't go on like this. I need answers! I need to know how Kaiba fits into all of this. My dreams feel so real- He looked down at his hand, making a fist then relaxing it once again.

"The book." He stated to himself. "It'll probably have everything in it!" He grinned and headed to the door.

The sound of a key entering the lock made him stop in his tracks. Honda! Katsuya jumped back into bed when door handle jiggled and pretended to be asleep.

"I'm back." Hiroto entered. "Still asleep?" He sat on the bed next to his obsession, moving some of blond hair out of the sleeping face. He leaned down and gently kissed the other man's cheek.

Crap… I feel like I'm going to fall asleep for real… Jou's brow furrowed in frustration. He could hear Honda's voice but it was starting to sound distant.

"I'm sorry about all of this…" Was that Honda's voice?

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"I'm really sorry about all of this." Mokuba apologized again.

"It's fine. I understand." Jou grinned and looked around at the extravagant hotel Mokuba insisted they meet in.

"My brother still doesn't know about any of this right? It won't work unless it's a surprise."

"I'm aware of your brother's hatred of birthday parties." The blond laughed and followed the younger Kaiba to a meeting room.

"It's my last chance to throw a party for him before I leave! We have to make it count."

"Have you even told him you're planning on studying abroad?" Jou sat next to the raven haired teen at the long oval table so they could go over their plans together.

"I've tried but when I bring it up he always changes the subject.." He sighed taking out a folder full of papers. "So we have the catering lined up.. the hotel as agreed to what we proposed… What about decorating?"

"Ryuren says he has that covered." Honey colored eyes scanned over the papers.

"Ryuren? Your boss?" Mokuba questioned.

"Yeah, he says his daughter is a professional decorator that does all kinds things from home interiors to weddings.." He rummaged through his pockets looking for his wallet that housed her business card.

"Alright, I'll call her later to go over details." He took the card. "How are we going to get him here?"

"Getting Kaiba to come to a hotel for his birthday shouldn't be much of a problem." Jou blushed with a smirk.

"Normally, but you wouldn't usually lead him to a place like this." Mokuba pointed out.

"True. But if I can pitch it like I want to check out a fancy hotel…. Maybe mention a honeymoon suite or something… I'm sure he'll come along obediently."

"Seto and obedient do not belong in the same sentence." The duo laughed.

"Don't worry I'll make it happen." They continued their planning.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Damn… Jou opened his eyes. What the hell am I supposed to do… if I eat the food I'm drugged.. If I don't eat I'm weak and tired anyway… He sat up and groaned. Honda. Not here? He looked around and slowly stood. I've hardly used my legs at all in I don't know how long.. crap, I gotta pee! He hurried to the bathroom.

"Phone." The blonde stated with determination and looked around for the device. It isn't here. He frowned. Did he take it by mistake? No.. his would still be here then, right? He scratched his head.

"Damn it…" He checked his clothes to make sure they were suitable to wear outside then put his shoes on. "Keys." He remembered. "I put them…" his groggy mind raced trying to recall. "Here!" He grinned picking up his keys. "At least I'm not a complete loss yet…" He walked out the door.

XxxxxxxxxxxX

"Still no word from Puppy?" Mokuba asked red eyed CEO.

"I told you not to call him that." Kaiba rubbed his temples. "But no. It's been over a week and no one's even seen him."

"What about Honda?" The raven-head set a hangover cure in front of his brother.

"Everything's a dead end." He took a sip of the elixer. "Work hasn't heard anything, his apartment is empty, no cell signal that can be traced, we found out Honda is living on his own now, but we couldn't find anything in his apartment either. He hasn't been to school in at least three months. The cell registered in his name we found in his apartment. His father is still locked away, no unusual behavior.." he sighed.

"He let you search his apartment?" Mokuba questioned. The eyes that met his gave him the only answer he needed. "Maybe they think his dad is out there still, so they're in hiding?" The teen offered, hoping it was the truth.

Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

"Hey Jou, I'm back." Hiroto called as he walked in. "Jou?" he noticed the lack of shoes. Brown eyes widened, he searched the apartment in a panic. "Shit." He panted and kicked over a pile of books. "That idiot! Don't you understand?" rough fingers tugged on short hair. "Shit, shit, shit!" The anxious author turned on his heel. Rummaging through a closet he pulled out a baseball bat. "I'll make you understand." A darkness clouded his usually bright eyes, his lip turned to a frown, equally, his brow was twisted into a scowl.

A/N: My apologies, but the rest of the chapters will be rather short. I just felt like the places they leave off on were good spots to end the chapter so they ended up being only a little over 1,000 words... :3 oh well.
