THE NEXT DAY

Twilight Sparkle, Tails, and Spike stood in awe as Princess Celestia appeared in front of them, using her magic to easily get into the town.

"Princess Celestia?!" Twilight said, shocked. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to check on the city." Celestia said. "In Equestria's time of crisis, it's my duty to make sure everypony is safe." Celestia said.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Well, now that your here, I need to talk to you about re-" As Twilight began telling Celestia about the towns defence and recent event's, Tails began noticing something off about the princess. She had an odd twitch in her eye, she had that kind of grin that made the air go cold, and she took occasional glances at him. Tails didn't like it. He knew something was wrong with the princess.

"-Well, I'll be off." Celestia finished. She took one more look at Tails. Tails saw nothing friendly in her eyes. She charged her horn and vanished into fin air, leaving a tiny amount of black dust in her place. It faded away, leaving Tails to wonder if he was just imagining everything again.

"Well I'll be checking on our defenses, Tails." Twilight said. "I'm sure you can find something to do while I'm gone, right?"

AWAKE AND ALIVE, EPISODE 6: DAWN OF A NEW NIGHTMARE

Tails decided to visit his friends at the antique shop since he had just met them. He wanted to get to know them better. He opened the door and walked in to see more familiar faces then he attended.

"Lyra? Bon-Bon?" Tails questioned, looking at the two ponies.

"Oh! Hi Tails." Bon-Bon said, smiling and waving as he came in.

"Hi!" Lyra said enthusiastically. A little...too... enthusiastically. Tails just shrugged it off and looked around.

"Hey girls. Have you seen Jewly? Or Gem Cutter?" Tails asked.

"I'm over here, Tails." Jewly said, trotting from behind the counter. She had a glum look on her face, which Tails instantly saw.

"Hey Jewly, what's wrong?" Tails asked.

"Grandpa... he's been acting weird. I decided to work alone today, and leave him to rest." She said, then her ears folded back. "I'm really worried about him. It's like he's sick, but he doesn't have no temperature, no irregular movement's. The only thing wrong is that he won't respond to me. All he does is speak gibberish." Tails tried to think about an illness like this, but nothing came to mind.

"Well, why don't we go check on him?" Tails suggested.

"That's really nice of you." Jewly said. "Yeah, we should go check on him."

"Can we come to?" Bon-Bon asked.

"Sure." Tails said. "I don't see why not."

"Cool."

"Yeah!" Lyra said happily

Have you ever had a feeling of dread when you walked up to a house when everything around you was quiet. Ever felt that cold air rushing around you when you knew something was wrong. Tails felt that. As he and the others walked up to Gem Cutters house, which was a two-story white house that was mostly plain and was surrounded by a few other houses, he felt that dread creep through his spine. It wasn't pleasant. And it was bothering the heck out of Tails.

"Doesn't Gem Cutter live with someone besides you? Don't you have a grandmother or something?" Tails asked.

"No. Just me and him. Why?" Jewly asked.

'Oh you have got to be kidding me. There is no way in Equestria that I'm going in that house. I'd rather go sky diving without a parachute and my two tails tied together. I'd rather go on a date with Eggman and get to first base. I'd rather-'

"Well, what are you waiting for?" Jewly asked, cutting Tails' train of thought. Tails gulped nervously and looked at the mares.

"Ladies first?" Tails said. Jewly growled, trotted up to Tails, turned, and bucked him towards the door. The door nearly came off the hinges as Tails collided with the door. Lyra and Bon-Bon gasped watching the poor fox fall off the door and hitting the ground. Tails shook his head and slowly got back up.

"Now go inside." She said, huffing.

"What's wrong with you going in first?" Tails asked.

"Because you don't want to go in first, therefore, I'm making you go in first." She said, smirking. Tails growled and opened the door. It was a moderate house by anyone's standards. Nothing interesting to point out, so Tails just walked in, the mares following.

"So where is he?" Tails asked.

"Upstairs to the left." Jewly said. "He must be sleeping. It's awfully quiet in here."

"Your telling me." Lyra said.

"Agreed." Bon-Bon muttered. Tails slowly walked up the steps and into the left hall, towards the only opened door. Tails tiptoed over towards it and stopped at opening distance.

"What's the matter?" Bon-Bon asked.

"Yeah, it's not like my house is haunted. Be a stallion and just go check on him." Jewly said.

"First of all, I'm not, nor will I ever be a stallion. Second, something doesn't feel right. Don't tell me you don't feel it." Tails said. Jewly looked down, giving Tails his answer. "And third, Lyra, stop studying my hands." Lyra blushed and looked up with a sheepish green on her face. Slowly, Tails moved his hand over towards the door, and began to push. Suddenly, the door swung back, startling Tails, and a greyish pony leaped at him.

"AAAAAHHH!" Tails wailed, kicking the pony in the face, sending him soaring into the wall.

"What was that?!" Lyra asked, trying to calm Bon-Bon, who was breathing hard.

"Was that grandpa?!" Jewly asked, running inside the bedroom. Tails shuttered and started stomping his feet in quick motions.

"Tails, what's wrong?" Lyra asked.

"N-Nothing... I just wasn't prepared for that." He said, jumping around in a little fit. Jewly backed out of the room, looking like she had seen a ghost.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Tails asked.

"Grandpa..." she whispered. Tails stopped his shaking and looked inside the room to see Gem Cutter slowly trotting towards them. He looked dead, his eyes black and glazed. Tails eye's widened and he began to back away.

"Run..." He said quietly.

"Mit sti..." Gem Cutter moaned.

"Run." Tails said. a bit louder than before.

"It's already to late..." Gem Cutter groaned.

"Run!" Tails yelled. Everyone turned and bolted down the stairs and out the door.

"Fluttershy?" Rainbow Dash asked, slowly backing away from her now grey friend.

"Hehehe..." Fluttershy giggled, trotting towards the rainbow pony. Shy's fur was completely grey, her eyes black. Her cutie mark looked like it was melting, but stayed in place. She also had a grin. A grin like a mad pony.

"Shy? S-stay back." Dash said, slowly flying off the ground and out the door.

"What's the matter?" Fluttershy asked. "Scared?"

"N-No!" Dash said, but her voice gave away her fear.

"Well... You should be." That was it. Rainbow turned and bolted up and through the sky. Something was seriously wrong with Fluttershy and she needed help. Dash soared through the sky and scanned Ponyville, looking for the tree house. Finally, she found it and glided down to the door. She quickly bucked it down and ran in. Spike, who was sitting on the couch eating gems, jumped up in surprise.

"Rainbow Dash? Why did you break the door down. You could have knocked." Spike said, getting up and walking over.

"No time. Where's Twilight?" Dash asked quickly.

"Twilight? She's somewhere around the wall, checking it's strength. Why, what's wrong?"

"Fluttershy. She's... I don't know, but I think she's been infected by the dark energy outside."

"What?! How?!"

"I don't know. But I need to find someone wh-"

"W-What if Rarity's infected!" Spike ran past Rainbow Dash and out the door. Rainbow rolled her eyes.

"That dragon." She then turned and flew out. If Twilight wasn't here, then she better go find another pony who will.

"Huh... Well, everything seems to be in order." Twilight said, through town with a smile. "Everything will be fine. I'm sure we can stop this evil."

"Just like you stopped me?" A voice said.

"Yes Discord, just like we did you." Discord appeared beside Twilight, looking rather tiny.

"Of course. Bu this evil is more like a fog. Why not use a big fan?" A fan appeared in front of Twilight and it began blowing air in her face. Twilight used her magic to send it away and looked at Discord.

"Nothing is that simple." She said. Twilight looked up at the sky in thought. Discord imitated, and noticed Rainbow Dash flying past.

"Wonder were the Rainbow pony is going." Discord said.

"It's none of our business." Twilight said. "Anyway, can you go bother someone else."

"Well I tried to bother Rarity, but she's been acting funny." Discord said. "I guess I'll go talk to Fluttershy. She's always nice to me." and with that, Discord vanished. Twilight shook her head and began trotting home.

"What in tarnashin is goin' on with you guys?" Applejack asked as her and Applebloom ran away from the farm, Big Mac chasing after them.

"What's wrong with our brother, Applejack?" Appleboom asked, a scared expression on her face.

"I don't know, but whatever it is, it's not good."

"Applejack!" Rainbow Dash yelled out. Applejack looked up to see Rainbow flying down to her and turn to fly next to her. "What's going on?"

"Big Mac and Granny Smith have gone crazy! Big Mac is hot on our tail as well."

"Crazy? Did there fur turn grey? Black eyes?"

"You some kinda mind reader?" Applebloom asked.

"No, the same thing happened to Fluttershy!" Applejack's eyes widened at that.

"Are you kiddin' me?!" She asked.

"No... Anyway, we got to find Twilight. She's gotta know what's going on." Dash said. She then turned and flew towards Mac. She quickly bucked him in the face, causing him to fall over in a daze. Dash then caught up with the other two and they proceeded to her house to see if she was there now.

"RUN FASTER!" Tails cried as they dashed towards Twilight's house.

"What do you think were doing, genius!" Jewly yelled.

"Stop talking and get inside!" Bon-Bon yelled. All of them rushed to the door, only to run into Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Applebloom. Everyone fell to the ground, shaken up from the collision.

"Applejack? Dash? What are you guys doing here?" Tails asked.

"Twilight. Help. Trouble." Dash muttered, getting up.

"Huh. Same as us, I guess. We needed a place to hide, this is the place I thought of."

"Well, let's hurry and get inside!" Lyra said, looking behind her to see if Gem Cutter was near. He wasn't, to her relief. Everyone tried to run towards the door, causing themselves to collide again. Groaning, Tails got up first and opened the door and went in. The ponies followed, rushing in and each picking a place to stop and relax. Applejack, the last to come in, shut the door and locked it.

Everypony had calmed down and were now sitting somewhere in the living room.

"What's happening to everypony out there?" Lyra asked.

"I think our defenses failed..." Tails said. 'Or something else...' He thought to himself.

"Well, what are we going to do now?" Bon-Bon asked.

"We need to find Twilight." Rainbow Dash said, coming down the stairs.

"She's not here?" Tails asked.

"No, she must still be outside." She said. "I wouldn't be surprised if she was right outside now." Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Tails slowly got up from the couch and looked through the window to see who it was. He quickly ran to the door after that and opened it up, revealing Twilight.

"Uh... Hello?" She said. Tails turned and looked at Dash for a second.

"You lied to us. You are surprised."

It's not much (That's a lie, it's actually 2,072 words. (The story only. Not counting the words in this ending note) That's pretty good in my case.) but it's an update for a story that needs an update. I was going to do a Christmas special to but I didn't finish it, so don't say anything... Stop looking at me like that.

This is going to be ended soon, like in a few more chapter (Like 5 or something.) So I'll be glad to finish this soon. Not that I don't like the story, but I need to finish all my stories.

Fav and follow if you enjoy and remember...
