Chapter 7: Elina's Story part 2

After running miles away from the guild, the young Elina stopped by one of the bridges and took a deep breath. Her face still flushed red from the incident back. Looking down at the water, she stared at her injured self.

Sighing deeply, she squatted down, "Mother is going to worry…" She thought. "What should-"

"Elina?!"

The said girl jumped and looked up to the women in front of her. Wine colored eyes widened in shock as purple eyes stared back in shock as well.

"Mother-" before Elina could say anymore, the women embraced her tightly, "Ow-!" she cried silently

"Where were you yesterday?" Her mother asked. "Do you know how worried I was?!"

"Eh- I-" then Elina winced painfully again.

Elina's mother looked down at her injuries and gasped. "What were you doing?"

"Ow!" Elina cried as her mother brushed on herbal medicine on her arms. They sat the dinner table, where Dahlia sat reading her books Once her mother finished bandaging her wounds, she questioned her daughter.

Dahlia sighed at the girl and shook her head.

"Now, where were you, Elina?" her mother asked.

"…Dalmuis…"

"Dalmuis?!" Elina flinched at her mother's voice, "W-why were you there?"

"I-I was o-on a request…"

"Request…?"

"I-… well- I-"

"She joined Fairy Tail, Alina." Dahlia bluntly stated to the woman named Alina. Gasping, she turned her head slowly towards her daughter in complete shock.

"Fairy Tail?!" she exclaimed a minute late causing Elina flinch at the sudden raising of her mother's voice.

"Fairy tail?" Polyusica questioned looking up from her potion book.

"Yes, she seemed to have joined few months ago…" Alina told her glancing out the window. Outside near Polyusica's house, Elina sat on the grass, braiding Dahlia's hair. Small greenman spirits gathered around her, giving her small flowers to decorate Dahlia's hair.

Alina smiled at the scene of her daughter.

"Aren't you worried?" Polyusica asked as she mixed herbs and ingredients in to small bowl, "Your daughter joined that Fairy Tail,"

"At first I was, but I've talked to the Master there." She told her, "She's only been given easy missions," Polyusica sighed at Alina.

"She's much like her father," she commented, "But, hopefully not dumb to leave her family suddenly,"

Alina giggled at the comment and turned back to Polyusica, "Yes… but, if one day she was to leave like Alastor and Elden, I wouldn't stop her," she told her, "It wouldn't be fair for her to be stuck with me when the other two are allowed to journey around the world,"

"I don't see why those two were allowed to be out when they constantly worry you," Polyusica told her.

Alina giggled and smiled at her, "Ara, it's a wife's job to worry about the men in her family, Polyusica-san."

Sighing at the woman, Polyusica placed her potions into a small bag and handed it to her.

"Remember, two doses a day and don't overwork yourself," She said sternly, "And keep an eye on her." She told her glancing out to Elina.

"Hai, thank you very much," Alina replied handing her the right amount of money. Giving one last good bye, Alina stepped out of the elderly wizard's house and walked over to the two girls . "Elina, Dahlia, time to go home!" she called out to the two.

"Hai!" Getting up from the grass, Elina ran and jumped in to her mother's arms. Giving her a big smile, Elina wrapped her arms around the waist. Alina returned a gentle smile and patted her softly on the head.

As the three headed back to their, Elina held her mother's hand as she looked down at the stone road in deep thought. Glancing up to her mother, she held eyes full of concern.

"Elina," Alina called.

"Eh- W-what is it, Mother?" Elina asked in surprise. Alina looked down at her daughter and chuckled as she lightly gripped her daughters hand tighter.

"You don't have to worry about me." She told her in a soft tone, "You should do what you want like. You're not trapped here, just do what you want."

Elina shook her head and clutched on to her mother's arm. "Don't worry, I'll always come back," she told her, "I want to be with you, mother." Elina smiled and quickly added, "You too, Dahlia."

"Hmph, I didn't ask." The smaller figure huffed and crossed her arm.

Alina and Elina both laughed at Dahlia as she hid a small blush

~*~ Few days later~ Magnolia Park

With a book from her father's study open on her lap, Elina sat leaning against the tall tree in the middle of the park. While flipping through a few pages, she just released a sigh. She stared at the ancient letters, not knowing what half of them even meant. Closing the book in disappointment, she held it tightly to her chest.

"I don't know what it says…" she muttered. "AH! Mou! At this rate, I won't become a great wizard like father!" She exclaimed. The people in the park gave the young wizard a strange look, but Elina paid no attention to them. She stood up and stomp her foot in frustration.

"What are you doing?"

Elina jumped and turned to Gray. Her face exploded in a bright red as she remembered the last time they met. She turned away from him.

"N-nothing…" she told him avoiding eye contact.

"Oi, I'm right in front of you." Elina back away slightly from him, "What's with you?!"

"Nothing…"

Gray stared at her strangely, but sighed. "Here." Suddenly, a brown cloth was thrown over Elina, blinding her for a second, "I washed it," He told her, "T-thanks for helping me back there." He muttered still embarrassed from then. Elina's eyes widened as she folded the cape in her arms.

"Y-you're welcome," She told him.

"Isn't that great?" she heard Verdlord jeer, causing fear to run through her. Elina held the cape tightly to her chest and looked away from Gray.

"Hm? What's wrong?" He asked noticing the change in expression.

"It's nothing…" She replied keeping her eyes on the ground. "I'm going home," She told him, "Thanks for giving my cape back," she turned to leave, but Gray stopped her by grabbing her shoulder.

"Oi, what's wrong?"

"I said it's nothing," She tried to get away but Gray kept a firm hand on her shoulder.

"Geez, it's because you're so gloomy no one wants to get along with-"

Elina turned swatting his hand away and glared, "Leave me alone!" She yelled, "I… I didn't join the guild to make friends! I joined because I wanted money! So leave-"

Elina was cut off as she fell to the ground with a loud thud; a throbbing pain lingering on her left cheek. She lifted her head to see Gray scowling at her with his fist still raised. Gritting his teeth, Gray's fist tightened.

"How can you call yourself a Fairy Tail wizard?!" he yelled at her. Elina remained silent looking away from him. Gray's eyes widened, but he turned away from her.

"If you ever appear in Fairy Tail, I'll kick your ass…" he muttered before walking off.

Elina walked home quietly, clutching the cape and book closely to her chest. Her cheek, now in a dark blue color throbbed at the touch of the soft wind. Once she walked in to her large house, she quietly made her way to her room on the second floor and locked the door behind her. Suddenly, her legs gave in as she leaned against the door and slowly slid down to the floor. Dropping to her knees, her head leaned forwards as small drops of water landed on her lap. A sob broke out from Elina as tears flowed out endlessly.

"I'm sorry…" she sobbed, "I-I'm sorry…"

There was a soft knock on Elina's bedroom door, but she didn't answer.

"Elina, what's wrong?" Alina asked in concern. Elina sat up and tried to wipe her tears to not worry her mother anymore, but the tears dropped continuously like a broken damn.

Alina's worry doubled when her daughter didn't reply and muffled sobs were heard on the other side. She opened the door to find Elina curled up on the floor with tears flowing non-stop. Immediately. Alina got down to the floor and scooped her only daughter in to her arms and gently patted her hair whispering soothing words.

"I-I'm sorry…"

"It's okay, there, there…" She whispered, "It's okay, Elina."
