Hey everyone, sorry I haven't updated for a really long time, I've been busy with other things. I hope you like it. I needed to just have another pretty relaxed chapter before things start getting a bit more I wouldn't say "crazy", but switching things up a bit. As always reviews are more than welcome and appreciated.

A Simple Day at the Mall Fixes All

Caroline walked Into her house and got into her room as fast as she could, successfully avoiding her mom, as she was probably already asleep, having given up on her daughter getting home early enough to lecture her on her life choices. For that Caroline was thankful, she could just keep on avoiding her for as long as she could since her mom always had such a busy work schedule.

Klaus POV:

When he dropped Caroline off at her house he went straight home. As he drove he pondered what he would do when Caroline went off to college. They had just gotten together and she had finally forgiven him, but he was already going to lose her so soon. He couldn't let that happen, there had to be some way they could stay together. He pulled into the mansion's driveway and walked into the house, meeting Elijah in the hall.

"So, how was dinner? Elijah questioned as he noticed his brother's slightly downcast body language.

"Well," Klaus began, "it could have been better that's for sure."

"Oh? What happened?" Elijah asked knowing for sure now that there was something going on.

"Caroline is going to college." He paused for a moment, "Out of state." He finished sadly.

"Oh!" Elijah said happily unaware of the way Klaus himself had said the news. "That's great isn't it? Good for her! Not letting her vampirism stop her from achieving her goals!"

"Yeah, I guess. I just don't like the fact she's going out of state and I'm here. I know it's kind of selfish of me but I just can't help but feel this way." Klaus said

"Ah, I see now. Well that is perfectly normal for you to feel like that; I mean I would too. I know how much she means to you." Elijah sympathized.

Klaus just nodded and said "Thanks, it's nice to know I'm not just being completely selfish." And with that he left the room and went upstairs to his art room, knowing that he would not be able to fall asleep for some time.

Caroline's POV

After Caroline managed to slip into her room unnoticed, she changed out of her dress and into her pajamas. She then fell onto her bed with a sigh; hoping that dinner did not mess up her relationship with Klaus. She never noticed how much she really did need him and how much she would miss him when she left for college. With those thoughts in mind she lay back and fell asleep with a heavy heart.

The next morning Caroline woke up at 9:00 and decided on an earlier start to the day than she usually had. She threw on some jeans and a sweater, picked up her car keys from her desk and grabbed her college applications on the way out of the house. She planned to mail them that day. she hoped she would get in to one of her top schools, but if she didn't, she might just have to use her many "persuasion" techniques.

She walked out to her car and drove to the post office, dropping her college applications inside the mailbox. Well that's that, no turning back now. She thought to herself. With that she got back into her car and she did some other errands to pass the time until it was closer to her and Klaus's arranged meeting time. After she had finished she drove to Klaus's house, as they had planned to go to the mall together later that day.

When she arrived at the Mikaelson mansion she went up and knocked on the door checking the time, making sure it wasn't too early to be arriving. She assured herself that 11:15 was a perfectly normal time to be showing up if they were going out at 12:00 and she had already completed her morning errands. She gave three quick knocks on the door and waited. Nobody came. She waited another minute, still nobody. Right as she reached out, about to knock again, the door creaked open.

In the doorway stood a man who looked like he couldn't have been too far into his twenties. Oh she thought this must be Kol then right? He looks like he is about the right age. What she noticed the most about him though, was that he looked half asleep and was leaning against the door as heavily as if it was completely supporting him.

"Who are you?" He said none too kindly, and by the looks of it none to be happy about getting woken up from his sleep even though it was nearly noon.

"Oh, umm." She stuttered nervously, "I'm Klaus's girlfriend, Caroline." She reached out, offering him her hand to shake. He abruptly stood up straighter a patted down his unruly hair before taking her hand and shaking it.

"Pardon my rudeness, I am just not used to morning visitors, or Klaus having visits from a girl to be honest.I honestly don't understand how you deal with him." Kol finished with a little more awakened fire.

Caroline merely shrugged, "Once you really love someone their strange quirks don't seem as bad as outside people view them I guess? "

At that there was a sound of footsteps heard coming down the wooden staircase. "Ah brother, I see you have met Caroline." Klaus called seemingly having heard none of the exchange between the two. He reached the bottom of the staircase and greeted her, walking forward and giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Yeah, well I'm out of here now, I don't do well in these dating situations." Kol said with a fake nauseated face.

"Well then go! You're a mess anyway, have you looked in a mirror lately? Honestly Kol you need to stop with those late night drinking habits of yours, it's making you look bad." Klaus chided with a smirk.

Kol just shrugged and flicked Klaus's lecture off, leaving the room and going back upstairs.

" Well shall we go now?" he questioned.

" I see no reason not to." Caroline replied walking back out the door and to his car with him following behind her.

They drove to the local mall and stayed there for a couple hours, deciding later to catch a movie and go window shopping. Caroline picked up some See's chocolates and lollipops to eat during the movie and dragged Klaus along into American Eagle to check out men's flannel shirts for him. It's not that she was trying to change his look, it's just that he always wore the same kind of thing everyday and she wanted to try and convince him to try something new.

She chose a shirt out for him along with some grey jeans and convinced him to go try them on; he just shook his head in defeat and did what she asked already knowing the outcome. He came out of the dressing room looking pretty sheepish, she doubted he ever wore anything like this before.

"Oh, my, gosh! Look at you! What do you think?!" she almost squealed as she tried to contain her excitement.

"Ummm, quite different than what I'm used to, that's for certain. Though I must say these shirts are quite comfortable…" He said

"Yay! You look quite handsome, if I do say so myself! Will you ever wear them comfortably?" she questioned, already claiming victory in her mind.

"Yes, actually, I think I'd like wearing this, wow never thought that would happen. Me liking clothes a girl picked out for me from American Eagle. That's got to be a Mikaelson family first."

"Oh stop it, just go change again and we can get them for you." she playfully shoved him back into the men's dressing room, feeling accomplished.

When Klaus had finished changing they bought his new clothes and headed out of the store, walking back towards the movie theater as it was almost time for their movie.

They had both decided to go see a horror film, since their last movie night was a comedy and they liked variety. Their movie choice was The Woman in Black, and quite frankly Caroline was terrified. Just the thought of that creepy old house in the marsh that only allowed you to leave it at low tide was terrifying, and a vengeful child murdering spirit to top it off only scared her more.

They bought their tickets and found their seats, as the movie began Caroline knew it was going to be a very long hour and 35 minutes because she was already on the edge of her seat. She was glad Klaus was there to comfort her as they watched.
