Chapter Seven:if it's just you and me
"Like ships in the night, you keep passing me by
Just wasting time, trying to prove who's right,
And if it all goes crashing into the sea,
And it's just you and me."
-"Ships in the Night" Mat Kearney
"Oroka."
Pale blue eyes glanced up from where she'd been idly doodling over her homework, Oroka blinking owlishly as Akashi stood before her, his expression unreadable. The ginger haired girl paused before grinning, setting aside her papers and titling her head. "Yes?"
The red head was silent for a moment, but there was no uncertainty in the air. Everything about this boy was as if not a single movement was wasted. If there was a moment of silence, it was meant to be. There was no hesitation, and to the surprise of both perhaps, there was nothing uncomfortable about it.
"Tomorrow we will be practicing later to offer training lessons and exercises for the second string." Akashi's eyes met hers, deep, vivid, and ever so red. If Kuroko's were the bluest of blues, Akashi's eyes were the reddest of reds. "You are not required to stay back tomorrow."
Go home.
Oroka's mouth opened slightly before it curved into a bright grin. "Oh its fine, I don't mind."
The red head paused, his eyes flickering to her, unwavering. The look on his face was unreadable, and somehow, indirectly, it felt as if something had been tampered with.
There was always some unspoken sense of order to Akashi's words. They were spoken and then followed. There was no question, there was no doubt. It was said and it was done.
"If there is no meaning too, I do not see the reason for your participation." Akashi explained calmly, his voice level, but in its own way, it filled up ever bit of the room, leaving no possibility of not being heard.
Oroka continued to grin, laughing slightly. "I guess, but if you don't mind, I think I'll stay. Besides, who else is going to keep Tetsuya company?"
The truth? Or convenient excuses?
"I was aware that your father would be attending the gathering tonight." Akashi added, and Oroka paused, a look of understanding flickering across her face as she offered Akashi something of a sheepish smile. "I had been under the impression you would be attending as well."
"Am I not allowed to stay?"
Akashi turned to face the girl before him, red meeting pale blue as her eyes shone softly. Had it been normal people, they would have surmised that they shouldn't stay and be on their way.
But this was not anyone else.
In a strange sense of peace, Akashi simply tilted his head to the side, saying nothing more as he took a seat beside the girl. His shoulders, so normally tight and tense, slackened ever so slightly. Oroka offered him an impish grin and placed a cold bottle of water beside him. "I can handle my dad you know, he's not as bad as you think."
Ah. A flicker of amusement traveled through him, sending a small buzz to the back of his mind as his eyes turned to gaze at the girl beside him, a peaceful look on her face. She was naïve, but to a degree, her ability to understand when people meant the best was quite the bother. Perhaps it was rather foolish though, that she so willingly sought the best in everything. On any other occasion, he would have somewhat subtly chastised the girl for such an ideal, but it seemed a foolish thing to do when she had, to a degree, been right.
"You know Akashi," Oroka swung her feet out before her, a grin on her lips as she gently prodded his arm with her elbow, an action he opted to ignore for the sake of retaining the momentary peace. "You're a pretty nice guy."
Amused, dearly so. This girl never ceased to give him something to ponder over; her reactions truly were worth while. His lips curled ever so slightly into a smirk, red eyes flickering.
"Perhaps."
I'm actually doing this? Oroka blinked, glancing over to the side where a clock gazed back at her, the handles ticking. Well, it's nothing crazy... I feel a bit bad for skipping out on them though...
"Just get it over with." She recalled Kagami's annoyed face and Kuroko's rather blank one from yesterday. Her best friend had said it'd be alright, and that she didn't need to be at every practice.
But that did make her want to stay more...
No, I can't do something so mean to Kise! The orange haired girl lightly patted her cheeks, fixing the white jacket she wore over her watermelon tunic and black shorts. A promise is a promise, and I still have to apologize for being so rude and cancelling.
But. The girl blinked once more, a slightly ditzy smile on her face as a mother with her baby strolled by, and an old couple gently walked past.
I wonder where he is...
Pale blue eyes strayed to the clock in the town center, and Oroka slid her hands into her pockets, wondering if she'd come a bit too early then.
"Inucchi!"
With years of experience, Oroka gently stepped to the side as Kise barreled past, arms outstretched. The blonde skidded to a halt before he ran into the fountain before them and whirled around, a look of hurt on his features. "Inucchi~ Why'd you move? I could have fallen in!"
"That was surprising," Oroka grinned brightly. "And you might have knocked us both over!"
"I would have swept you into my arms," Kise corrected, but the bright haired teen smiling nonetheless, and Oroka wondered if he had a tail practically growing out from behind him as he stepped closer, eager and excited. "Ma, ma, Inucchi, what would you like to do first then, hmm?"
"Apologize." Kise blinked and Oroka bowed her head slightly, ginger locks framing her face. "I'm sorry I had to cancel on you, Kise."
Kise's eyes widened slightly as she stood up once more, a bright smile adorning her cheerful face, the scar around her eye curving with the action. Kise's mind slowed to a halt as his heart began to pick up speed as Oroka's pale blue eyes met his, and she smiled. "But today, I'm all yours!"
All yours.
All his.
"T-Then what would you like to do n-now?" Kise struggled to find his words for a moment before he snapped out of his stupor, struggling not to tackle the girl to the ground as he offered her a cool and suave smile. "Do you have anything in particular you would like to do?"
"Not really," Watch their game. Oroka grinned, sliding her hands into her pockets. Kise took a double glance and found he rather enjoyed seeing her out of uniform before him, and he realized he would like to see it a little more often as well. "I'm open for whatever you want to do."
Then it looks like I've planned right. Kise's grin turned wide as he slung an arm around the girl's shoulders, steering her aside. "Then I know just what to do! How would you like to walk around the plaza first? There's this really good ice cream shop an agent introduced me too."
"That's sounds great," Oroka beamed, and Kise swooned inwardly, finding this almost too hard to believe.
It should be like this normally. Kise sighed ruefully, his golden irises flickering about as they landed on the various faces turned their way. The model looked thoughtful for a moment when Oroka slowed and he turned, startled until he realized there were two girls in front of them.
"U-Um, would it be alright if we got an autograph from you?" They stepped forward and Kise blinked, Oroka looking curious. "W-We're big fans!"
"Of course," Kise flashed his model smile, the girls before him swooning as he leaned forward and plucked the pen from their hands, scribbling his name over papers and photos they held. "Thanks for supporting me!"
"Anytime!" They stalked off happily, Kise smiling as Oroka blinked.
"You've gotten a lot more popular than middle school," the orange haired girl looked thoughtful for a moment before she smiled, something like pride shimmering in her eyes.
"I guess," Kise replied modestly, beaming at the comment as he tilted his chin upwards slightly. A loose collared shirt with a grey blazer had been his outfit today, a fedora adorning his head and polished shoes hitting the ground. If he was going to try and win a friend over he'd do it in style. "You should come to my shoots sometime!"
"If I'm free," Oroka promised loosely, turning her head to the side as she noticed the many eyes beginning to watch them. "You don't mind do you?"
"Mind what?"
"Being here with me in public," Oroka grinned, rubbing the back of her head. "I don't want to affect your career with nasty words—even if it is all a bunch of junk, they shouldn't say things like that to you—"
"They can assume whatever they'd like," Kise quipped, smirking as he pulled Oroka closer and grinned coyly at her. "I wouldn't mind being mistaken for your boyfriend."
"That'd be cruel to your fans," Oroka said, stepping aside as Kise pouted, trailing after her as they traversed down the faintly crowded sidewalks, stores and boutiques reflecting the two in their mirrors.
Kise smiled but paused when Oroka turned on her heel, grinning impishly at him. "But I don't mind having you just to myself for today."
Kise's cheeks dusted pink, the model rendered speechless for a moment as Oroka turned, smiling softly to herself as her gaze grew thoughtful. I wish we could have done this before.
"Really," Kise's hand rose, covering his face as the model peeked through his fingertips at the swaying mass of orange in front of him. "You don't even realize what you're saying, do you?"
"Don't make me leave you behind—whoa!"
"I-Inucchi!"
"Can we really eat this?" Oroka stared, mesmerized by the frosty treat laid out before them. Kise's lips turned upwards as he nodded happily, pushing a spoon her way.
The wonderfully decorated and delicious looking sundae gazed back at her, seeming to glisten as her mouth watered and the ginger haired girl looked up to her blonde companion for confirmation. Kise grinned, propping his chin on his hand as Oroka beamed, grabbing a spoonful excitedly. The girl's eyes widened at the sudden burst of flavor and creamy sweetness in her mouth, a blissful look on her face as Kise simply smiled, contented with watching her for the moment.
"This is amazing." Oroka praised, digging in and slipping another spoonful into her mouth.
"You should let me treat you out more often," Kise added coyly, playing with the spoon before him as he grinned boyishly. "I'd be happy too—"
"Try it." He blinked at the spoonful of ice cream held out in front of him; Oroka smiling brightly as he registered that she was offering to feed him. "I can't just eat it by myself!" Though I definitely don't mind.
Kise's eyes glimmered and he leaned forward, his mouth closing around the spoon. Golden irises met pale blue, and Oroka paused as Kise continued to gaze at her, a moment of silence passing between them.
"Neh, Kise, you have to let go for me to keep eating."
Kise simply hummed, his eyes never leaving hers as he gazed at the girl before him. Oroka blinked, looking curious until a body approached their table, and their eyes flickered upwards to the blushing waitress before them. "U-Um, excuse me; if it's not too much of a bother...do you think I could get your autograph?"
Kise's mouth slipped from the spoon with a pop, and Oroka pulled it back, gazing at it for a moment before she decided to give it a gentle swipe against the napkin before digging back into the ice cream. Kise smiled charmingly at the waitress, taking the pen in her hand. "Of course! Anything for a pretty lady."
The waitress' cheeks flushed and a few other customers turned their heads, gazing at Kise wistfully as he scrawled his name across her paper with a flourish. "There you go!"
"Thank you!"
"Hey, isn't that Kise Ryota?"
"No way, a model's here?"
"This is so cool!"
On any other occasion, he would have simply smiled and carried on his way. But today of all days, Kise settled back into his seat, looking thoughtful as he gazed at the table. Though he greatly appreciated his fans, they got him where he was after all; he did want time to himself.
Golden eyes turned upwards, gazing at the childishly happy face before him and Kise leaned forward, propping his chin on his palm as Oroka continued to eat.
But he wanted time with her more.
"Neh, Inucchi?"
"Hmm?"
"Aren't you jealous?"
Oroka paused briefly, glancing from the ice cream up to the thoughtful looking blonde. "Why would I be jealous?"
"We're on a date," Kise gestured to the two of them and then outwards to the various eyes turned their way. "And all these girls keep coming up and interrupting, doesn't that bug you?"
Thoughtfully, Oroka set down her spoon, a contemplative look on her face as she glanced to the side. A moment passed and she turned back to her friend, smiling brightly. "Not really!"
Kise nearly fell from his chair, sliding off the end had he not slammed his palm down and looked in disbelief at the girl before him. "Eh? How come? You're supposed to get mad when someone takes away your friend's time from you—"
"I have to keep in mind that you're popular," Oroka admitted, swinging her feet as she slid the spoon back into the ice cream, grabbing a scoop and sliding it into her mouth before she continued. "And when I think about it, I'm happy that you are. It means you've—you are doing well."
And that's all I could ever ask for. Oroka added silently, the ice cream a little too cold in her mouth. All I could hope for when I left you guys.
Kise felt torn, his mind shifting as he tried to decide whether or not he loved this—Oroka was clearly the type that wouldn't hold him down, and the very idea was amazing for him considering his work. But at the same time, would it hurt for her to be just...a little jealous? Or angry? A little pout? Anything?
"But if I had to be honest," Oroka spoke around the spoon in her mouth, words slightly muffled as she leaned forward and glanced to the side, her brows furrowing ever so slightly. "I guess I do get a little jealous over you sometimes."
"When?" Kise eagerly leaned forward, an excited look on his face as Oroka's brows furrowed deeper.
"When you're with your team."
"...my team?" Kise repeated, looking confused as Oroka nodded, rubbing the back of her head as she shoved another spoonful of ice cream into her mouth. "What do you mean?"
"It's just a silly little thing." Oroka admitted, looking for the right way to speak her mind without coming off wrong. After all, who was she to speak about things like this?
You left them.
"But when I see you guys, I can only think about how it looked better with everyone." Oroka grinned sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head as she laughed nervously. "I think he's my friend, and then I remind myself, but he's their teammate now. It's all kind of selfish—"
"I'll always be your friend."
Oroka paused, looking up in surprise as Kise smiled brightly, that dazzling, blinding smile of his as he grinned. "You matter a lot to me, Inucchi."
Oroka was frozen for a moment, unable to speak until her lips gently turned upwards, a small smile on her face as she laughed, holding back the relief that threatened to overwhelm her. "I'm glad." I'm really, really glad.
"Besides! If you're so worried, you should just come over to Kaijo—"
"No."
"I think it's cute that you're jealous! Though senpai isn't much to be jealous off—you know, on that note, you should spend less time with him and more time with me—"
"When do I spend time with him?"
"We always have a spot open for manager! Especially for someone like you—"
"Kise."
"Hmm?"
"I'm not leaving Seirin."
"Hahaha, it's always worth bringing up..."
"Neh, Inucchi, how about we go over there?"
"Hmm, that's fine! Is there anything you need?"
"Inucchi, Inucchi, how about this store? They have really cute dresses for you!"
"I'm fine!"
"How about this one?"
"Sure!"
Kise came to an abrupt halt, gazing down at the girl before him as Oroka simply smiled, small shoulders barley rising and falling as she tried to catch her breath. Kise eyed her thoughtfully for a moment, bright eyes taking the girl in front of him as Oroka continued to smile.
"...Inucchi."
"Yes, Kise?"
"Could it be you're not even having fun on our date?" The blonde's eyes began to water and Kise turned, refusing to relinquish the grip on her hand though as he brought his other hand to his eye. "Is this all just one-sided?"
"...what?" Oroka blinked, confusion flickering through pale blue eyes as she laughed, shaking her head and tugging at Kise's hand. Now that I think about it, he hasn't let go for a long time... "I'm having fun—"
"You just let me drag you along wherever!" Kise rounded on her blonde hair flying and Oroka took a step back in surprise as Kise advanced. "Without complaint, it's all so wonderful and happy, but it makes me feel like you're being forced to do this, Inucchi!"
"I'm not, I promise." Oroka blinked in mild confusion, trying to wrap her head around Kise's logic as she added. "Besides, I'm having fun. Aren't you?"
"Of course! Anytime I spend with you is a blessing—but isn't there something you want to do Inucchi?" Kise swept on, eagerly leaning forward, and the ginger haired girl stepped back under his pressure. "These things have to be from the heart, a wanting to be with the person beside you. And believe me..."
Kise smiled brightly, clasping both her hands in his as he nearly tipped her over and Oroka blinked, face paling slightly. "I want to be with you from the bottom of my heart!"
I...admire his honesty. Oroka settled on that thought, gently nudging Kise away as she searched the shops around them. All she had to do was pick on then, right? Her eyes landed on a decent boutique a few feet away and she smiled. "How about that one then?"
Kise blinked, looking behind them before he beamed. "Of course! Wherever you want to go, Inucchi!"
What did I do to get such kind friends? Oroka smiled in return, stepping forward and nearly tripping over her feet had their entwined hands not halted her fall. "Thanks."
"Of course!" Kise's finger slipped through her and Oroka paused, glancing to their hands, mystified and slightly confused as she turned her head back upwards as Kise simply flashed her a dazzling model smile. "After all, Inucchi, the only one you should be falling for—"
Kise brought her hand to his lips and she blinked, eyes widening as he grinned, but his eyes flickered mischievously beneath blonde bangs as he pressed his lips to the back of her hand. "—is me."
...
...
...
"Kise, you're awfully bold today. Did something good happen?"
"N-Nothing particularly, Inucchi..." The blonde glanced to the side, eye twitching as Oroka shrugged, leading the way to the store they'd picked out as they stepped inside. I think she spends too much time with Kurokocchi.
It was a small knick knack sort of place. A wall of soft plush animals to the side, and various shelves of jewelry and clothes of all different sorts, hats to the far side, and the gentle, warm lighting of the place was a change from the evening light starting to come down on them outside. It was warm, Oroka shifted on her feet, her hand warm from where Kise held it, her chest pleasantly calm just being here, not doing anything else, beside her friend.
It's been so long.
"Cute store," Kise commented, glancing around curiously with a small smile. Oroka hummed, glancing around as well to see if anything caught her eye as Kise shifted to one side. Her hands slipped from his and Kise blinked, startled by the sudden change as he turned, only to find Oroka looking with interest at a small box to one counter. "See something you like?"
"Look," Oroka turned, grinning proudly as she tucked away a strand of orange hair, revealing the silver band identical to his own clipped to her ear. "It's like yours!"
Kise stilled, blinking with wide eyes at the display as Oroka laughed slightly, rubbing the back of her head. "Copying the copy cat." If my parents saw something like this they'd think I was getting worse. Oroka idly fiddled with the metal band, smiling to herself. But it kind of look's like Hiro's too.
"I should put it—"
"Get it."
"Huh?" Oroka blinked, looking up at Kise as the blonde gazed at her seriously.
"You should get it." Kise nodded, once, as if to himself, and Oroka continued to gaze at him as his serious look split into a bright smile. "It looks good on you Inucchi!"
"But I think—"
"It makes you look even cuter!"
"It's a lot like yours though—"
"We can match!"
"Are you sure—"
"Excuse me miss~ We'll take that earring please!"
"Y-Yes, of course!" A woman at the register hurried to ring them up, her cheeks flushed as Kise smiled brightly. Oroka stood off to the side, twisting the metal band around her as she blinked, curious and slightly dazed until she shrugged, figuring she'd let Kise have his fun today, she owed it to him after all.
I little things like this can make him happy. She played with the band clasped around her ear, gazing at herself in the mirror and letting a small smile touch her lips. Any day.
I'd do anything to make them happy.
They were her most important people after all.
"It's Kise!"
"Kise-kun!"
"I'm your biggest fan!"
The screeches and squeals hit her ears with a resounding cry, and Oroka took a step back, turning around in surprise to find her blonde companion swamped by the horde of fans pushing against him for autographs. The orange haired girl was silent, blinking as her friend was swarmed, and she stood there for a moment, wondering what should be done.
I want to be glad that Kise's so popular. Oroka frowned. But do they really have to be here all the time?
...it was okay for her to be a little selfish once and awhile, right?
Rolling up her sleeves and squaring her shoulders Oroka inhaled, pushing through the wild mob in front of her and sneaking her way through, tripping over high heels and shoes as she tumbled her way forward, some clearing through to avoid the collision. Oroka caught a glimpse of Kise's face; an exasperated look plastered over as he signed autographs and snuck glances over heads. With a grin she lunged forward, her hand grasping his.
The blonde looked up sharply, opening his mouth until he caught Oroka's graze and she flashed him a mischievous smirk and tugged forward, throwing all her weight into the movement.
Girls around her exclaimed in surprise and annoyance as Oroka tugged her friend free from the mob. Kise stumbled forward, looking up in shock as the orange haired girl nearly tumbled over herself until she backed up and the girls around them looked around, confused as a moment of silence fell over them.
"Let's run!" Oroka exclaimed, her eyes alight, and the blonde looked stupefied for a moment as she grinned. "Unless you'd rather sign papers for the rest of the time."
"I-Inucchi—"
"Let's go!" Without a moment to waist Oroka tugged them forward, sprinting out of the store and leaving the mob of fan girls disappointed and milling behind. Kise stumbled after the girl for a moment before catching himself and running behind her, unable to take his eyes off the head of bright, bright orange in front of him.
"Kise-kun!"
"Kise!"
"I love you!"
"Hahaha, thank you! You're all so lovely, but I have to go to practice now—"
"Eh?"
"One more picture, please!"
"Yes, yes..."
"Sorry girls," a hand grasped his, firm, small and he glanced up as Oroka beamed, grinning impishly as she took off running, dragging Kise along behind her. "But the team needs him for today!"
"What the—"
"Come on, blondie!" Oroka laughed, tugging Kise along and the blonde had no choice but to run after her, nothing but the bright head or orange in front of him, "We've got a practice to go too!"
"I can't believe I actually made it out of there alive though!" Oroka called over her shoulder, laughing gleefully, brightly, as they ran, past people strolling down the sidewalks, past cars, past stores, past every little thing around them as they ran. "See? I am pretty tough!"
Their legs were pumping, chests heaving, hearts racing. Kise could only stare, his heart pumping the way it would during a game, adrenaline, everything around him blurring as he focused on the bright head in front of him.
A laugh suddenly escaped his lips, full, loud and melodious as he ran forward, bringing Oroka along as the girl blinked in surprise as he tugged her forward and they ran, ran, ran, pumping their legs with no one chasing them, nothing on their shoulders. Oroka's eyes widened slightly at Kise as he continued to laugh, so carefree, so light, and she grinned, laughing alongside him as they continued to run.
To anyone else, they were fools, laughing and running from nothing as they cast aside all worries and doubts, but it was them, just them, in that moment, right then and there.
And it was glorious.
"B-B-But—"
"The day has to end eventually." Oroka began carefully, hands on Kise's head as she forcefully attempted to pry him from his grip around her waist, his knees on the floor. "Kise, it's been fun, but I have to go—"
"Then let's do this again! How about tomorrow?"
"We have an important game tomorrow—"
"The day after!"
"Kise." Oroka finally managed to pry her friend from her waist and offering Kise a warm but firm smile. "I promise to talk to you. I'm not going anywhere." Not anymore. "I will see you again."
"...okay..."
"Probably as enemies though." Oroka added thoughtfully, her brows furrowing as she glanced upwards. "On the court."
"But Inucchi—"
"I had a great day today, Kise!" She flashed the pouting blonde a bright grin and he blinked, frowning but unable to disagree. "Thanks for asking me."
"Anytime..." The crestfallen blonde sighed before grinning impishly. "I expect to be taking you out again."
"We'll see." Oroka turned to cross the street, waving back at the blonde until his hand came down and suddenly jerked her back.
Oroka blinked a car zipping past and she paused, wind blowing her hair around her until it settled and the cross walked lit up, signaling the sign to walk. Kise kept a hand on her shoulder, tight, and she smiled as she turned around. "I wasn't going to just cross like some idiot you know."
"You can never be too careful," Kise said, turning back to the girl and offering her a bright, dazzling smile. "I'll see you soon then, Inucchi!"
"Of course." Oroka stepped back onto the street and waved to him once more; smiling brightly as Kise sadly and reluctantly let her part. "Let's hang out again some time!"
And this time, she intended on keeping her word.
A smile made its way to her lips as she checked her phone, a few messages from Kuroko asking how the day had gone and reporting that they'd won the game successfully. She juggled the bags of things and sweets she'd gotten with Kise and her phone in one hand as she used the other to shuffle through her pocket for her key.
The person next door also made their way to the apartment next to hers and she offered them a nod as they nodded in return and reached into their bag, looking for their own key as she struggled to find hers.
A moment and she let out a triumphant hum as she pulled out the key and slipped it into the lock, the person besides her doing the same as they twisted the knob.
...
...
...
Both heads turned at the same time and cool gray eyes blinked at pale blue, and the captain of the Kaijo High Basketball Team and the unofficial errand girl of the Seirin High Basketball club blinked at each other, a moment of silence passing between them as they simply stared.
"What the hell—"
"Kasamatsu?" Oroka exclaimed in surprise, taking a step back as her eyes went wide and Kasamatsu's cheeks flushed, the captain leaping backwards a few steps. "You live here?"
"Kasamatsu-senpai to you—wait, what are you doing here?" Kasamatsu exclaimed, looking flustered and confused as Oroka simply blinked.
"I live here."
"Since when?"
"About a month or two now." Oroka admitted, staring at the captain before her in mild surprise. "What a coincidence... I guess we never ran into each other, huh?"
"A f-f-few months?" Kasamatsu quickly racked his head for any memory of remembering someone moving in. Surely he would have known if this girl—their sort of enemy—had been living here before, right? How could he have not noticed? Especially with that hair—
Was that why she seemed so familiar?
"This is kind of cool." Oroka admitted, grinning sheepishly as she laughed, and Kasamatsu's cheeks flushed, his mouth opening in closing as he tried to think of something to say. "I hope we can be good neighbors. Please take care of me."
"Y-Y-Yeah! M-M-Me too?" Kasamatsu glanced this way and that and Oroka simply smiled, standing there holding her bag and phone while Kasamatsu gripped the handle of his school bag deathly tight, trying to run head first into his own door as he forced himself to remain civil. Enemy team or not, she seemed nice, and it wasn't like she was giving him any trouble... "Uh, it's nice to meet you!"
Oroka smiled, "Good luck with your next match!" The orange haired girl stepped into her own threshold and Kasamatsu was left standing there, mystified and shrouded in disbelief as the bright head of orange disappeared from view. The dark haired captain struggled for breath and forced himself to relax—it was just some weird, odd coincidence that happened to happen. The apartment complex was reasonably center to a university he was thinking about for next year, and it was rather close to Seirin as well, he realized. It made sense.
Kise did say something about her family living separate... Kasamatsu shrugged and turned to his own door, stepping into his apartment with the nagging sensation he was forgetting something in the back of his head. It's not like anything will change anyway...
And yet...why did she still seem so familiar?
...God damn it, he'd probably just kick Kise and worry about it later.
