Team RWBY settled down to watch another classic Disney film, Mulan. This was one Nora had suggested, a film she had watched multiple times with Ren, resulting in him memorizing every single line. Nora was practically vibrating with energy, wobbling side to side as she sat on the sofa between Blake and Yang. After watching that Madagascar movie with them, Nora took it upon herself to join most of RWBY's movie nights. Her addition to the party was welcomed, though Weiss could do without her boisterous singing.

The movie began as dramatically as any movie could start, the invasion of China, some fictional world the film took place in. Yang and Nora snickered as the scene passed.

"What's so funny?" She scrutinized the two.

"Oh nothing, just an inside joke." Yang explained.

Weiss shrugged, turning her attention back onto the movie. Though she could hear Nora whisper 'all of china knows your gay', or something like that to Yang with a giggle. Probably just some trivial thing they discovered while browsing the net on their scrolls.

It was funny to see Mulan tie a rod with a bone on one end to her dog to get it to do her chore of feeding the chickens. Weiss considered tying a fishing pole with a chocolate chip cookie hanging on it to Ruby, wondering if she would get the same reaction from her as the dog. It would be amusing, to say the least.

Weiss had to admit, she enjoyed how Mulan's family seemed a bit exasperated with her raucous behavior. She obviously didn't behave like most women in her era. It amused Weiss how they kept worrying and praying for her. Much like how Ren would worry over Nora's antics sometimes.

The whole scene with Mulan preparing for the matchmaker made Weiss grimace. It reminded her of all the times maids would prepare her to meet the various suitors her father's fellow company associates would try to hook her up with. It was quite irritating, being pampered and dressed like a mannequin. Weiss absolutely despised that kind of treatment, it made her feel expendable. Of course, her father never forced her into doing it, she did it more out of courtesy if anything. Didn't want to besmirch the Schnee name over something so trivial.

Unfortunately for Mulan, it seemed she didn't have enough luck as her grandmother had tried to give through a 'lucky cricket'. The cricket ended up causing troubles for her instead, resulting in the matchmaker saying she would bring dishonor on her family's name. Dishonor. That word was one that Weiss had to live on. Ensuring her behavior and actions didn't result in disappointing her father. As austere as the man could be, like any child, Weiss wanted to impress him, wanted him to be proud of her. Even going so far as to learn various skills and arts to win his approval. In the end, she let her pride get the better of her, turning her into a scornful child. It was her memories of those times that made her treasure moments to be with friends like this.

"Ooooh Weiss! Listen to this song coming up, it almost like yours!" Next to her Ruby giddily bounced a bit, rocking back and forth.

"Oh really?" Weiss looked at her skeptically.

"Yeah!" Nora interjected, "Its title even has something to do with mirrors."

"Uh huh."

Weiss listened attentively to the lyrics, curious as to whether her friends' statements were true. In a way, they were somewhat accurate. However, the song was more about trying to understand one's true self rather than speaking of loneliness. Weiss found herself relating to the song.

Weiss always had to conceal her emotions, being the daughter of one of the biggest companies on Remnant she couldn't allow others to faze her. Being herself would only mean ruining the company's reputation, and she didn't want those snide businessmen looking down on the Schnee name. It wasn't until she came to Beacon that she was able to see the person she could truly be, and act without restraint. It was this kind of independence that let her escape the monotonous loneliness she always felt confined in.

Mulan's worry over her father's health was admirable. She simply wanted her father to live out the rest of his remaining years, and he had already been left crippled by a previous war. Weiss had to admit, it was courageous of Mulan to take her father's place in the army. Going so far as to disguise herself as a man, which apparently was punishable by death. Weiss figured Remnant was the better world in that aspect, as women were warriors ever since man was born from Dust.

The comedic aspect of Mushu was rather charming to Weiss. She found the small dragon to be relatively amusing, for a film that would be much more serious without him. Especially since the next scene depicted the Huns having destroyed a village, and hinting at killing a man.

Mulan's attempts at being masculine was laughable. Weiss was positive even her acting would've been better. Not that she would have any reason to cross dress. Mushu's anticlimactic entrance was perfect for providing the audience with a way to forget about the previous dark scene. Having him introduce Mulan to the strange world of men ended up being quite chaotic, not creating a good first impression with the captain and other soldiers.

Weiss wished she had earplugs. Yang and Nora were singing loudly with the army's training song, being obnoxiously annoying. Ruby was singing along as well, but she couldn't manage to say the words coherently, as she was giggling too much at Nora and Yang. Blake merely watched them with amusement glinting in her golden eyes. The song made for an excellent transition though, showing the soldiers going through multiple trials in failure, only to be motivated by Mulan's integrity to improve.

It was interesting to see the small conflicts that occurred throughout the movie. It built up the tension pretty well, and provided plenty of comic relief. Nora wouldn't stop guffawing during the whole bathing scene. Weiss was surprised Mulan hadn't been found out right then and there. Maybe that cricket really was lucky.

After yet another musical, horribly sung by the belligerent duo, Mulan's group of warriors were faced with the Huns. A clever move by Mulan allowed them to defeat the Huns by causing an avalanche in the mountain range they were on. However Mulan's secret was inadvertently exposed in the process. Fortunately she was allowed to live, as she had saved the captain's life during the avalanche, thus he returned the favor. Being left behind on the cold snowy mountain seemed rather harsh to Weiss, but the situation was opportune, as Mulan was witness to some of the strongest of the Huns push out of the snow and head towards the imperial city.

What occurred afterwards became rather serious. Well, excluding the portion where some of Mulan's closest friends in the army cross dressed to help her rescue the emperor. Mulan ended up gaining the attention of the enraged Hun leader chasing her down. Her moment when Mushu inquired about a plan was very similar to some of the occasions Ruby lead them in battle.

Ruby was a brilliant leader, but sometimes she really could be a dunce. There were very rare instances where Ruby would be making up a plan as they go. Weiss considered those moments to be highly compromising to the team's safety, but somehow Ruby always pulled through, no matter how ridiculous the ideas she came up with were.

She looked over at Ruby, whose eyes remained glued to the projection in anticipation. For someone who had already watched this movie, she sure didn't act like it.

What a dork.

Mulan succeeded in her improvising, defeating the Hun leader for good and saving all of China, as well as the emperor. She returned home to her family, bestowing the objects of evidence to the honor she gained for her family to her father. The man had no care for the items, tossing them aside to embrace his daughter, glad to have her return home alive. Weiss could hear Nora sniffling a bit behind her at that moment.

"I always love a happy ending." Nora's eyes were glistening as she tried to contain her tears.

"Daaaaw! Nora ya cutie, c'mere." Yang grabbed Nora with one arm, giving her a side hug. It seemed to cheer her up.

"Mulan is so cool!" Ruby gushed, "She went through so many dangerous things just to protect her family's honor!"

"It is a commendable act, albeit reckless." Weiss nodded her head in agreement.

"The struggles she dealt with were similar to what Faunus have to endure." Blake said.

"Yeah. This movie was great, thanks for bringing it up Nora!" Yang patted her on the shoulder.

"Hee hee! No problem girls!" She grinned, giving them a thumbs up.

"Well time for bed everyone." Weiss stood up and stretched out her stiff limbs, already headed towards her bed.

"Welp! Guess I'll be going back to the JNPR dorm then. Good night!" Nora skipped out of the room.

The next day had Weiss waking up to that horrible whistle Ruby had used on their first day of classes. Avidly shouting nonsense about waking up swiftly as a coursing river.

A/N: I was tempted to have that whole Weiss dishonor comic thing I've seen on tumblr be mentioned in here, but I couldn't figure out a logical reason to use it XD. It seems updates won't be as often as I wanted them to be. Sorry about that. You'll just have to be patient with me. Thanks for reading, I don't see how anyone is still liking this.
