Chapter 6: The Meeting
Soon, it became colder and November turned to December and the holiday season arrived. Christmas came and passed and it was another successful holiday full of wonder and happiness during the yuletide season. While Jack did enjoy Christmas and watching all the children get excited for what North or 'Santa' brought them this year as well playing with their family members in the beautiful fresh snow thanks to yours truly, He couldn't wait until tomorrow. He would be back in the North Pole and hopefully; someone will have more information about where Pitch is and what he was up to. The sun started to set on the afternoon, families returned to their warms homes and the earth was in darkness. The Man in the Moon quickly lit the night sky with his moonbeams to keep light within the darkness. Jack so he decided to take a visit to his favourite in the whole world, Arendelle. He jumped off the tree branched and let the wind take him on the familiar path through Norway. Once he got there, the moon was high in the sky and many of the houses were dark. Jack flew over the house and passed the guard and made his way up to the room he frequently visits. He looked through the glass to see Elsa sleeping in her bed. HE looked through out the room and saw glass dolls and dresses that were given to the young princess for Christmas. Jack looked at the gifts and while they were nice and looked expensive, they didn't look like something Elsa would enjoy much. And idea came to Jack head as he walked away from the window so that he had enough space. Using his staff, he summoned some snow and started to shape it until it resembled the shape of a teddy bear. He started to shape the face, ears, eyes and its noses. Once he was happy with how it looked, the snow turned into a soft material. Jack looked it over and was happy with the final result. Its eyes were ocean blue while its fur was ice blue. There was a white patch of fur on its stomach and in the center was a light blue snowflake stitched into the toy. He quietly floated over to her window and carefully opened it, slow enough for it not to squeak. He landed on the wooden floor as softly as he could and walked to her bedside and placed the teddy bear on the nightstand with a small card. He was about to leave when he realized that once again, Elsa was in dreamless sleep. Ever since her nightmare, Elsa would have dreamless sleep, which are both good and bad. Good because there was then there was no way nightmare could invade her dreams and bad because it was taking its toll on Elsa. Another thing Jack was noticing was Elsa was becoming more and more determined to hide her ability rather than to practice it. Even when he convinced her to practice, Elsa was having more accidents than before. Jack let out a small sigh and took the teddy bear and placed it under the covers next to her.
"Let him protect you tonight," whispered Jack as slowly walked back to the window.
He let the wind carry him out and he closed the window just a quietly as he opened it. Jack stayed the night there, even though he was sure no nightmare would attack, it make him feel better seeing that she was okay. He had to admit, of all the children he come into contact with on snow day and during the winter season, Elsa was his favourite, not just because she was like him power wise, she knows what its like to feel alone. That feeling of dread when you're locked away from the world psychically (Elsa) or spiritually (Jack) and no one can touch or hear you. Bur once you find someone who not only can see you, but also is like you that feeling of joy, excitement that feeling of wanting to know more about them, wanting to protect them. That is why Elsa was special. Jack spent the night watching over his snowflake until first morning light broke over the horizon. Jack stood up and once again let the wind take him from Norway to the workshop in the North Pole. Once he arrived, Phil took his staff and locked it in one of the closets so that there was no freezing the workshop this time. Soon, Bunny Tooth and Sandy arrived and North walked out of his office and led them into another room with a long mahogany table with seven seats.
"Why are there seven?" asked Jack looking at North.
"Because there are seven people," said North.
Jack was about to question that until the doors opened once again to show Chronos and Gaia (who also earned a stern look from Phil) walking in and sat in two of the seat at the table. Jack glared at her which she responded similar before taking a seat next to Tooth and Sandy on the opposite side of the table. Bunny sat next to Chronos and North took stood at the head.
"Right!" said North loudly. "Before we begin, I must state that there will be no freezing or breaking the room with your powers! Are we clear?"
"Yea whatever," said Jack pissed knowing he could do much without his staff anyway.
"You have my word," said Gaia in a calm voice.
"Okay, lets start. Sandy, have you seen any more nightmares among the children?" asked North. Sandy responded by shaking his head and an image of a small children and a smiley face appeared over his dead.
"Absolutely none?" asked North again and Sandy nodded.
"Same goes for me," said Tooth as her fairies were buzzing at her side. "I had my fairies look at both old and new teeth and all the memories we saw were happy. No Pitch or nightmares."
North sighed and ran his hand through his white hair. "I have been keeping an eye on the lights and none have gone out since the first attack," said North sitting down "Even on Christmas, everything ran smoothly. Bunny, please tell me you found something."
"Sorry mate," said Bonny leaning back in his chair. "I had my eggs everywhere keeping their eyes and ears open for anything and all came back with nothing, less that nothing."
"Vot eto da," mumbled North as he began to rub his eyes. (Rough translation is like saying wow in English).
Jack started to tab his hand on the table impatiently. It's been over two month since the attacked and no one has seen his since? What is going on? What is Pitch's angle? Why was he going through such lengths to been noticed then just disappear?
"Jack!" shouted North, getting attention back to the room.
"What? I didn't do anything!" complained Jack. North pointed at the table and Jack saw a light frost pattern starting to take for on it. Jack removed his hand and the frost disappeared.
"Sorry," he mumbled crossing his arms.
"How is Elsa?" asked North in a softer voice.
"Not well. Ever since Pitch, she hasn't been sleeping well, her control of her powers has weakened and she has been relying on her gloves more often," said Jack as she stared at the table, feeling like it's his fault she was suffering.
"Its to be expected," said Chronos bringing Jack's gaze up to him. " After a traumatic event like that, it will be difficult for her to keep calm and lack of sleep is a factor in that as well. Be patient."
"Fine," said Jack as he rubbed his face.
"Gaia also has something she would like to add as well," said Chronos as the guardians turned to look at Mother Earth, who was fiddling with the leaves on her arm.
"Its it about Pitch?" asked North.
"Yes, but you won't like what I have to say. Especially you Jack," said Gaia looking at the young guardian.
"What is it Gaia?" asked Tooth as her fairies gathered closer.
"It's just a theory, but I think I know what Pitch is after," said Gaia. Jack jumped out of his seat and his eyes started to bulge out of his eyes.
"What? What does he want?" Jack shouted unintentionally.
"Jack! Calm down!" said North as he walked over and pushed Jack back into his seat. Jack shook North hand off his shoulder and turned back to Gaia.
"What does he want?" asked Jack again.
"Before I answer that, I must ask you something. Has Pitch every offer you anything for something?" asked Gaia. Jack slumped in his chair as the memories of Pitch flooded his mind.
"Yea," answered Jack, getting looks from all the guardians. " He wanted me to join his, saying that ice and darkness were perfect together. He offered me the world. I said no of coarse."
"I see," said Gaia.
"Is that important?" asked Jack.
"I believe that since you rejected his offer, he is going to make the same offer to Elsa," said Gaia. Suddenly the temperature dropped causing Bunny to shiver and the fairies to huddle hear Tooth. Jack's face was a mix of anger and fear.
"Elsa is smart. She won't accept that," said Jack.
"Be that as it may," said Gaia trying to think of the right words to way. "If he is desperate enough, he might try to take it by force."
"It?" asked Bunny
"Her crystal. But its very dangerous," said Gaia in a low voice
"What do you mean?" asked Tooth." What would happen if he just took the crystal from Elsa?"
"If the crystal is removed from the host…" started Gaia looking at Chronos giving a look that meant to continue. "If the crystal is removed from the host's body, it will kill her."
The whole room went silent Suddenly, Jack once again jumped out of his seat and ran towards the window but North and Bunny grabbed him before he jumped.
"Let go!" shouted Jack as he flailed his legs trying to kick anything.
"Calm down mate!" shouted Bunny and he held onto Jack's right arm.
"Pitch is going to attack Elsa and you are telling me to calm down?!" shouted Jack as he tried to pull against the two other guardians.
"Acting on impulse will do no good!" shouted North and he and bunny dragged him back.
"Jack, I wasn't done speaking," said Gaia, still sitting at the table. Eventually after a bit of a struggle, North and Bunny got Jack to stop thrashing and to sit down again.
"Jack, there is more to the story than hurting Elsa. Pitch cannot simply remove the crystal," said Chronos who did his best to not upset Jack further. Sandy looked at Chronos with a question mark over his head.
"Think of the crystal like a human heart," said Chronos raising from his seat and walking to the frost of the table. "The heart is an important part of the body, it cannot function without it. However, when you remove it from the human body, not only does the human stop living, the heart stops beating."
"STOP BEATING AROUND THE BUSH AND JUST TELL ME!" shouted Jack confused.
Gaia sighed at Jack outburst and placed a hand on her forehead. "Pitch cannot simply take the crystal because once he has it, the crystal will shatter. Elsa cannot die or it will die with her," said Gaia
Jack slammed his hands on the table and leaned back in his chair. His head was hurting. One minute they are saying that Pitch was going to kill Elsa and the next, they are saying he cannot. His head started to throb even harder now with all that his going on. Manny couldn't make this easy for him. Just once, he would like something to be easy. Jack didn't look at anyone. He didn't want them to see fear in his face. "Is Elsa going to die?"
The whole room fell silent Jack could feel his stomach knot up, his throat dry out and his vision become blurring with tears. It took all he had not to let them fall.
"No," answered Chronos finally. Jack let out a breath that he didn't realize he was holding and relaxed in his seat. His head fell back and the tiniest tear fell from his left eye.
"If Pitch really wants the crystal, he wouldn't risk hurting Elsa because he could hurt the crystal. But like a said, it's only a theory. For all we know, he could probably just wants to cause fear once again" said Gaia.
"Alright," said North and he returned to his seat. "Everyone keep a eye out for anything that looks like trouble, I don't care if its just someone looking weirdly, inform everyone! We are on high alert for now, not just for the children, but for all."
The guardians, Gaia and Chronos nodded. The guardians left the room with Chronos slowly following suit until Gaia grabs his arm, leaving the two in the room in silence.
"Gaia…"Started Chronos, but was cut off immediately.
"He's emotional," she stated.
"It's a very delicate subject," said Chronos sitting once again next to Gaia.
"I understand a guardian of childhood getting upset over Pitch's return, however getting this upset over a single human… it's not natural," said Gaia looking at the ceiling.
"Why is it not natural? Aren't emotions part of human's?" asked Chronos.
"As a guardian and a immortal spirit of winter, he cannot let his emotions cloud his judgment…" started Gaia
"Stop!" said Chronos loudly, causing Gaia to jump in her seat. Chronos turn her head to face her and his eyes held sternness within them. "No matter who he is, no matter what he does, he was once human. Humans let their emotions sometimes get the better of them at times. You cannot tell him to lock them away for its impossible to. Lets not forget that you also carry them but just because you can controlling them better, doesn't mean that they are not there, causing you to do certain things."
Gaia was let speechless after Chronos scolding. She turned away and looked at the wall, avoiding Chronos staring. Chronos sighed and rubbed his head and turned to the window, only to see a crow sitting on the windowsill, looking into the room. Chronos looked at the bird as it stared straight back. It let out a cry and suddenly took off. Chronos followed it until it was a dot in the sky.
"Chronos," called Gaia, worried about her friend.
"Can a crow survive cold harsh weather?" asked Chronos.
"A crow? Why are you asking me about a bird? Chronos, what is going on?" asked Gaia standing out in her seat.
"Please. Just answer the question," said Chronos still staring at the window.
"Crow are resilient and adaptable birds. But like many, most migrate south during winter. Some are better at surviving in harsh winter weathers than others," answered Gaia. "Chronos is there something you want to tell me?"
"I don't know," answered Chronos as he left the room with Gaia following behind him.

The crow flew though the air as it entered some woods near the small town of Burgess. The father it flew in, the darker it got. Suddenly it reached a clearing where an old broken bed was on top of a hole in the ground. Suddenly, the bird dive into the hole that led to a dark catacomb-like area. The Bird quicken its paced as it flew through the dark corridors and soon was in a large room where metal cages hung from a high ceiling and darkness consume all. The bird landed on top of one of the cages and a dark substance consumed it, changing its form from a crow to a dark horse with yellow eyes. The horse walked thought the air and into the center of the room and let out a loud whine into the air. A dark figured emerged from the shadows, her eyes the same as the horse but his aura reeked of darkness and greed.
"Now, what new do you bring?" said Pitch to the horse.
The horse made movements with his head and whined to his dark master. Pitch's eyes faltered for a moment before going into deep thought.
"Well, that bit of new puts a damper on things now doesn't it?" he asked no one. With his power over darkness, he summoned it to form a shape of a snowflake, the one that should be rightfully his since the moment it was created. Honestly, that child was just nothing to him, what makes one child's life more important than another's? Nothing. Death was just finish line for all humans. However if he couldn't take what he wanted by force, then he needed to find other ways to obtain his prize. He was denied what was his long enough. It was time once again to plunge this pathetic world into darkness. People are nothing more than animals with the ability to create and destroy faster than others. The only was to control an animal was with fear for himself or herself. Pitch sends the dark substance back to the horse, which surrounds it before it disperses to show the crow once again. Pitch couldn't help but smirk. This new trick was much fun to him. His nightmare could go around unnoticed while the foolish 'guardians' continued for his nightmares that were right under their noses.
"Keep an eye on our friends for now. See what they do," said Pitch as the crow bowed then took to the air once again. Pitch walked the darkness wondering to himself. He looked at his right arm. From his elbow to his index finger, a long crack with smaller cracks coming from it was visible to the naked eye. After this last encounter with the guardians, it left him literally broken and weak. It disgusted him. Fortunately for him, he found a way to speed his healing process. That human Elsa. Her fears were strong enough to give him enough strength to been seen and to heal. Perhaps that child is more use to him than he first thought. The more she feared, the more he could move and soon, the darkness with be everywhere. The way it was meant to be.

Elsa slowly stirred in her bed. Her eye couldn't focus just yet. The sun was breaking through her window shades. She felt stiff and groggy, but she was use to it by now. Since the night of that awful nightmare, she been afraid to sleep, afraid the boogey man would return, afraid her nightmare will turn into her reality. Slowly she moved around in her bed and left something soft touch her hand. She sat up in her bed and saw a teddy bead in her bed. She picked it up and examined it. She doesn't remember getting it for Christmas yesterday, they mostly consist of dresses and accessories fit for a crown princess. But this teddy was so soft, like its fur was silk and its eyes were clear as the sea. Its stomachs had a detail stitch work of a snowflake that looked almost realistic. She smiled and hugged the teddy, its cool fabric felt nice against Elsa's skin. Elsa then realized a small card on her bedside table. She carefully placed the bear on her bed and crawled over to the other side and picked up the card. The front had a snowflake on it similar to the pattern on her bear. She opened it and read what was inside.
"Merry Christmas. It nothing fancy, but I thought it just what you needed. Jack"
Elsa read the card again and her smile got bigger and bigger. She grabbed her bead and hugged it again along with the card. That's when she realized. The bear didn't freeze over and her gloves were on her desk. Somehow, for a brief moment, she felt normal, like everything that happened before just disappeared, even for a moment.
"Thank you Jack," said Elsa as she kissed her bear and played with it until the night appeared once again.
End of Chapter 6
Aww! I remember when I had a teddy bear that I loved so much! I left it on an airplane and never saw it again Anyway, I was inspired by the Maleficent trailer with Diaval turning from human to a crow for Pitch's nightmare. What do you people think? I did some reach about crows to see if they could survive in cold weather from what I read they could. I was happy with Pitch's scene, saying that children's fear helps him heal and revive
The next chapter will be when Elsa is around 13 years old, having queen lessons and such, around the time when small Anna was singing the next verse of "Do you wanna build a snowman"
