Nightmares

A sound of discomfort left his mouth as he pressed his eyelids together tightly, his body tense as he lay in his bed shuddering from time to time. Behind his closed eyes a scene from his past played out in the form of a nightmare:

Sealing his eyes tightly, he struggled to hold onto his slumber. It had been a long day, a long and horrible day. One that he wanted to forget and one that he was desperately trying to sleep off but he couldn't, because he couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't alone.

And then he felt it, something or someone touch him.

Eyes opening with a flash, in alarm his sea foam eyes looked down to where he'd felt that alien touch on his skin. And he saw a hand, a female hand sitting, doodling on his bare chest with a diamond ring on its ring finger that he recognized all to well. After all, he'd placed it there just a few hours ago.

And that was exactly what he had been trying to forgot.

His eyes narrowing hatefully he immediately pushed the hand away before reaching over and turning on the lamp. Light flooded his dim bedroom just in time for him to turn around and watch her as she sat there tangled up in his sheets, wearing nothing but her bra and underwear, laughing at him.

Sheila Vale.

He would have been more shocked with the knowledge that she had snuck into his home while he had been sleeping like some kind of stalker but he wasn't. Because really what else had he expected from her? To care about his comfort? His personal space? What he wanted? Never.

Glaring at her in disgust he located his shirt amidst the bed's covers and moved to put it back on only for her to stop him by grabbing it first.

Another giggle left her as she bat her eyes at him in what he was sure she thought was either a cute or seductive manner. He found it to be neither of those things.

"Give me back my shirt," he hissed leaving her to only giggle some more before she sauntered closer to him under the blankets until he could feel her breath on him.

And it made him flinch.

Ignoring his obvious discomfort, Sheila only grinned pervertedly up at him.

"Give me a kiss, and it's all yours."

That was enough to make him push away the blankets and get up to get off the bed. But again she stopped him, this time by grabbing his wrist. Feeling his entire arm tense up in response as if he'd been shot, Sheila shook her head and let out a small "tsk" at his needlessly hostile behaviour.

"Aww come on baby, don't be like that…" she purred, pulling herself closer to him with her hold on him. "We're engaged now," she said as if that forced engagement meant anything at all to him.

It didn't.

Snapping his wrist out of her hold, Tim's jaw tensed as he thought about their engagement. How she'd forced him into it by threatening to destroy the one thing he cared about in this world, by proving to him that she would ruin it if he didn't say yes to becoming her husband.

To say he hated her guts was a vast understatement.

"I wouldn't call you my fiancée even if someone threatened to put a bullet through my skull if I didn't," he spit out hoping that she'd get how much he loathed her but she only licked her lips and grinned again in delight.

"You have no idea how much I love it when you get all feisty like that," she whispered, unmistakable hunger in her voice as she eyed him up and down.

"Makes me want you even more!" she panted before throwing herself at him. Her arms lashed out and grabbed him in death grip while her lips moved closed to his desperately trying to kiss him.

But that only lasted another moment before he shoved her away with a growl of rage hard enough to send her sprawling.

Landing back on the bed, Sheila sat up an shot him an acidic glare before reaching out and gripping his shoulder, hard enough for her nails to leave marks on his flesh.

"Like it or not, Tim Scam…" she whispered darkly, eying him with belittling eyes. Eyes that told him that she owned him, owned him like an object that she'd purchased and that she could do whatever she wanted with whenever she wanted to.

"I am your fiancée and we are getting married." Her nails dug deeper into his skin as she watched the anger on his face mount. She didn't care if she was making him mad, he had to accept his fate. And she'd say it a hundred times until he finally got it. She was his fate. She and no one else.

"So go ahead," she said calmly, smirking at him now. "Make me leave your bed tonight but just remember, and get it though that beautiful head of yours that very soon whenever you'll look next to you on this very bed, I will be there. Me and only me."

Enjoying how he was visibly seething now, Sheila only smiled as she pulled him back down onto the bed with her with one last dark whisper as she moved to kiss him again.

"And you can't change that."

Tim's eyes opened abruptly as a gasp left him. Realizing he was in his bedroom, his heart raced in his chest as he sat up and glanced around looking for Sheila only to stop, his heart rate suddenly dropping down when he noticed the woman that was laying next to him.

Samantha.

Not Sheila.

He could feel his heart immediately melt inside his chest as he watched her just laying there sleeping. Her long red hair was fanned around her pale skin which shone in the moonlight and her left hand, decorated with two rings, a wedding band and the diamond ring he'd proposed to her with was resting against her pillow right next to her face while she wore an expression of complete peace.

"So incredibly beautiful..." he thought to himself.

His eyes still glued to her, he slowly laid back down right next to her. Propping his head up on his elbow he just lay there watching her wordlessly. Her, the most precious thing in his life. His entire world. The girl who rescued him from all his suffering. The one who set him free.

Reaching out he stroked her hair before softly kissing her forehead as he held her body close to his, letting her presence consume him.

Soon her felt her stir against him and a moment after he heard her voice. Her sweet, soothing voice calling out to him.

"…Tim?" he heard her say sleepily and he said nothing just hearing her. The voice of his wife. A wife he'd chosen and loved with all his heart.

Sam's eyes opened slowly to find her husband holding her in his arms, staring at her and being fully awake.

Blinking a few times, she looked up at him in concern. "Something wrong?" she asked sweetly as she reached up and touched his cheek.

"Wrong?" Tim thought, smiling at how naïve she was sometimes. No, nothing could ever be wrong now that he had her in his life.

"No," he said leaving her confused.

"Then why aren't you sleeping?" she asked, not understanding why else he might be wide awake in the middle of the night like this.

Tracing her cheek with the back of his index finger softly, he smiled. "I was just doing some thinking."

Letting out a yawn, Sam rubbed her eyes sleepily before asking him about what.

"You," she heard him say and curiosity consumed her.

"...What about me?" she asked, eyes fully open now as she waited for her answer from him.

He wondered if he should tell but quickly found that he didn't want to tell her about his nightmares. It was a reoccurring nuisance for him anyway. Sometimes he'd see Sheila or Michael, other times his mind would replay being arrested for selling WOOHP secrets while he shouted that he'd never do that, being locked in a cell for a crime he never committed, being on the run while praying for the misery to end, among other events from his horrific past.

But every time he woke up and saw her there all his pain would melt away as if it had never been there in the first place. Just like it had just now.

So why tell her then and ruin the moment?

Plus, he thought as he noticed just how cute Sam looked right now with her hair all tangled and fuzzy and her eyes puffy from sleep with her blanket tucked very loosely under her arms to the point where it was starting to drift off of her allowing him to see what was hidden underneath. A sight he loved all too much.

And soon a smirk was rapidly growing on his lips, any thought of his nightmare now swiftly fading away into nothingness.

"Tim?" he heard her say, still waiting for her answer and a second after, he gave her one.

"…Just if I'd be able to get away with making love to you without waking you up."

Her eyes widening to the point of popping out of their sockets, a loud gasp left her mouth as she shoved him off of her with both her hands while she blushed like crazy.

"UGH! YOU ARE SUCH A PERVERT!" she squeaked as she backed up from him on the mattress.

Here she had legitimately thought something was wrong with him and had been nice enough to interrupt her sleep to ask what it was, only for him to act as uncouth as he always did when he was around her.

Grabbing the blanket and pulling it up all the way to her chin to hide her body from his eyes, Sam turned away from him as she wrapped herself up entirely from head to toe.

"I'm going back to sleep!" she screamed as she put her head back down on her pillow. "And don't you DARE put your hands on me while I'm sleeping Tim!"

Tim just laughed long and hard at her reaction to his words before moving to lay back down himself. But not before whispering quietly in her ear first.

"But you're awake right now so.."

"GO TO SLEEP!" she hollered, catching his drift and leaving him chuckling in amusement as he fell back onto the mattress.

"Fine," he said before quietly mumbling to himself but making sure it was loud enough for her to hear still. "I'll just wait until you doze off again. It's not like you're a light sleeper…"

Her eyes napping open, Sam quietly gasped as she realized what he meant by that. And knowing Tim, that probably meant that he knew she was a heavy sleeper … from experience.

A quick moment after Tim watched Sam quickly scoot to the very end of the mattress to be as far away from him as possible on this bed and he laughed again before closing his eyes as he listened to her muttering to herself about him and his shamelessness and lack of control around her in a sour tone.

Unable to resist Tim opened one eye, turning his head and glancing at his wife before he pulled himself to where she was laying, carefully and cautiously but knowing that Sam could still sense him coming, she was a super spy after all so if she wanted to, she would move away.

Soon reaching the blanket cocoon that was at the moment, he leaned over and delicately caressed her cheek with his lips, feeling her melt as he did that confirming that she wasn't mad at him before he moved to wrap his arm around her waist and lay down next to her.

But instead Sam loosened the blanket around her, letting it fall away and turned around wrapping her arms around his torso instead while she nuzzled her face into his chest.

And he could feel her lips smiling against his skin and suddenly he was grinning like a moron. Smiling in a way which he hadn't even known he could until he fell in love with her.

Wrapping his arms around her as well, cradling her form, he closed his eyes to fall asleep no longer worried about seeing his nightmares when he closed his eyes again tonight. His mind was too calm and his heart too filled with happiness at this moment to even subconsciously wander back to the dark days of his past.

But, he thought to himself as he was drifting off with Sam pressed against him now snoring into his skin and his grin still permanently glued to his face as if it would never go away now.

If waking up from a nightmare could be like this each and every time, then the nightmares… he thought, pulling the blanket up to cover them both as he held her tight feeling her heart beating in time with his as if they were one and the same.

Were fucking worth it.

Guess this shows why Scam hated Sheila so much. *shudder*
