Percy Jackson
I do not own any part of the Percy Jackson novels by Rick Riordan and the following sequence is entirely imaginary.
Camp Chores
Annabeth's POV
Percy was staring at me, with an expression he reserved especially for me – understanding, loving and slightly protective. I was paying no attention to the watery actors Percy had conjured; the ocean, like a living creature, exhaled heavily across the sand, its white horses tumbling in an excited stampede onto the shore. The sky, like a skin of dark velvet, was spread out above us, studded with crystal diamante stars. I turned my head to look at Percy, a smile unconsciously playing across my face. "It's such a perfect night."
He nodded and smiled widely, leaning in to kiss me on the forehead, nose, lips. What started out as the lightest of caresses quickly escalated, with me applying gentle pressure onto his shoulders until he lay back on the sand with me on top of his chest – each kiss was more passionate than the last, but at the same time, it felt as if we had forever. I suddenly pulled back and Percy's eyes flicked open instantly, clearly worried something was wrong. I exhaled gently, brushing back some of Percy's dark hair; I held his gaze. "I love you," I murmured.
Percy looked both delighted and worried at the same time – "I love you too?" It came out as a slight question, almost as if he wasn't sure where this conversation was headed and wanted to make sure he gave the right answer.
I rolled off him and stood, offering him a hand up. "I love you," I repeated and with a smile I hoped looked confident "and I think we should take a swim." Percy's eyebrows rose but he stood and shrugged.
"I am ever your servant," he said, bowing with exaggerated elegance.
I rolled my eyes and laughed – as he straightened, I thought, why not? Without giving myself time to over think it, I whipped off my t-shirt and unhooked the bra. I took a moment to enjoy the way Percy's eyes bugged out his head and for the first time, didn't feel any urge to cover myself. I felt completely comfortable, safe with Percy. He would never do anything to hurt me. While he continue to stare, I slid off my chino shorts and panties, and sent up a prayer to Aphrodite that Percy would catch on with his head full of kelp.
He looked as if he wanted to say something, and when he opened his mouth, it seemed the thoughts spilt out without a filter. "Gods Annabeth, you're so beautiful. Incomparable."
I smiled and glanced down at my feet, before looking back at Percy's awestruck face. I stepped up to him and kissed his lips chastely, then winked cheekily. "I thought we were going swimming... I'll race you to the water... One, two, three, go-" I turned and sprinted away from him, barely waiting to hear his slightly indignant 'hey!' before I was out of ear shot and racing for the waves.
When I finally reached the water, it grasped at my ankles with cold hands, instantly making me break out in goose bumps. I took a deep breath, and hearing Percy pounding down the beach after me, plunged into the waves.
