The Wayward Vampire

CHAPTER 7: Imprinting

Hi… it has been… years since I've even looked at this story but I've decided that I want to pick it back up again! Or I'm going to try at least. I have a bit of spare time and I kind of skimmed through the story and it's not as bad as I thought it was. I know not many people have read this and because it's been years those who have might not care anymore, but I'm going to keep writing until it's done! Anyway, this is a really short chapter but I'm going to end it … where I ended it. I am just getting back into writing! :) Enjoy!

Melanie's POV

He was beautiful. Tall and tan with those gorgeous brown eyes. He was the same boy that had saved me from those wolves the other day. As he approached me I could see the recognition in his eyes. He seemed to stand a little taller and smile a little brighter the closer he came to me.

I smiled at him, ready to thank him for the other day, when he grabbed me in a tight embrace. "I missed you," he breathed.

I was caught off guard and a little weirded out when I realized that I also missed him despite not even knowing his name. "Hello, again." Wow, Melanie. What a great response.

"So you two know each other," Carlisle asked, hesitantly.

"Well, Doc," Jacob answered, "That's actually why we're here. It seems that… Seth has imprinted on this leech."

The boy in my arms, Seth, glared at Jacob and said, "I would appreciate it if you wouldn't call my imprint a leech."

Jacob just rolled his eyes in response.

"How is that even possible? Aren't vampires and werewolves natural enemies," Bella asked.

"Yes, this is rather strange considering the history of vampires and the Quileute," Carlisle said, with an inquisitive look on his face. "I don't know enough about the act of imprinting to really understand what is happening though."

Jacob scrunched up his face, angrily. "This shouldn't have happened! How can you even stand the stench of them up close like that?"

"She doesn't smell bad to me at all." Seth looked reverently at me. "I'm glad you don't smell like other vampires although, even if you did I wouldn't care. "

I smiled up at him, confused by the situation but enjoying the sparkle in his eyes as he stared at me.

"I'm confused as to what is going on right now," I told him. "Can someone tell me what is going on?"

"Well, Lee- I mean, Girl, Seth has, for lack of a better phrase, fallen in love with you, " Jacob sneered at me.

I looked up at Seth, alarmed. "But you don't even know my name!"

He looked sheepish as he explained, "Well maybe fallen in love isn't exactly the right way to describe what's happened. When we find our imprint they become the center of our world. They are basically the reason for our existence and we would do anything for that person."

As I pondered his statement another voice spoke up, "Ok, this whole imprinting, true love thing is great but shouldn't we be discussing the fact that she is a newborn walking the halls of a human-filled high school with no problem?!"

This came from the stunning, statuesque blonde standing next to the giant. She was glaring at me with hate in her eyes and I again wondered what I had done to anger these people- vampires.

Carlisle sighed. "Yes we should get back to our discussion. Boys," he said, addressing Seth and Jacob, "I'm not sure if you would want to stay and listen but-"

"I'm not leaving," Seth stated, immediately.

Carlisle smiled. "That's perfectly fine." He turned to me. "Now, Melanie, I think it's time we tell you about being a vampire."
