Sorry it's been so long! I've been slammed with schoolwork and writers block. I'm going to try to update every month or sooner. I'm sorry for the wait, but enjoy this chapter!
Chapter Seven: Invitation (Daniel's POV)
"You can't keep avoiding her for much longer. You and I both know it's too strong for you to stay away," I whispered placing my hand on his shoulder. Cam stared out at the city lights from the rooftop we were on, his eyes were anxious and I could tell he was trying to plan his next move.
"I know," he sighed defeated.
"Your connection to Darcy is stronger than mine to Luce, which is apparently possible."
"Do you think they started growing yet?" he asked me concern creating a shadow on his face.
"Yes, they're probably just below the skin. They'll start appearing soon," I answered him.
I couldn't imagine this being Luce. Having the person you love with every ounce of yourself and more die once and for all, then come back from the dead, then have a the weight of having to save the entire world on their shoulders. I couldn't imagine Luce being in Darcy's shoes.
"I need to see her," Cam said sternly jumping from where he sat and glided from the roof.
"Things will go your way this time. I promise…" I whispered my wish for my brother and best friend into the crisp wind.
(Cam's POV)
Where is she? I thought frantically searching the beach. I didn't see her but I sensed her, she was close. Then I saw her. Darcy's wings were unfurled sinking into the sand, her curls whipped in the wind and her feet were in the icy waters. I could just barely see her delicate profile as she stared at one of her hands that was at her side.
"Darcy…" I whispered reaching for her, but I was too scared to move.
"Cam," she sighed as if the universe had been rolled off her shoulders. A smile flooded her face and she ran to me. Darcy's body collided with mine. Her arms wrapped around my neck and her wings pulled my body closer to hers. My wings unfolded and wrapped around her.
"Darcy," I sighed tucking my head between her shoulder and her neck inhaling the sweet smell of her.
"I thought you wouldn't come back," she said on the verge of tears.
"I'll always come back even if it takes me years. I promise I will always come back."
"I change everything, don't I?" she asked stepping back so she could look into my eyes.
"Yes," I frowned.
"Why?" Darcy questioned.
"Before the Fall we were Bonded." She raised an eyebrow implying she needed clarification. "It's kind of like a marriage, but deeper. It's a mind, body and soul connection. When angels are Bonded their souls are Bonded for all of time. Every minute of every lifetime. After the Fall and after I eventually chose, the Throne punished me by forbidding me from being with you. The Throne made it so that if we fell in love you would die. The Throne also held a prophecy that one day you'd return and end the war between Lucifer and the Throne and that is by choosing the Throne or Hell," I told her. She took it in and stood strong.
"And the marks?" Darcy asked.
"Our Bond tattoos," I smiled tracing the tattoo that started growing on her hand and up her arm.
"Why aren't yours there?" she asked concerned.
"Because we were Bonded by the Throne and I chose Lucifer so I will not have the tattoos unless I choose the Throne again."
(Darcy's POV)
"Show me what they looked like when we were first Bonded," I smiled a fresh blush creeping into my cheeks. Cam grinned and his emerald green eyes twinkled. He pressed his golden and smoke colored wings against my satin white ones then slid his hands on either side of my face and intertwined his lips with mine. I disappeared from the beach and into a desert.
"I take the Darcillella as my Bonded Soulmate with all of my being," Cam said loudly and proudly to the coven of angels that were around us. I recognized a few Daniel, Francesca, Steven and my parents.
"And I take Cambriel as my forever Bonded Soulmate," I smiled up at Cam his shaggy black hair hanging in his eyes. Cam didn't wait a moment to press his lips to mine and our white wings intertwined as our lips brushed against each other's. The angels around us hooted and hollered. When we broke our kiss Cam and I pressed our palms together holding the between our chests. Golden light swirled around our arms then our chests, then torsos, legs and feet. The golden light disappeared leaving gold intricate and delicate tattoos on our bodies which were identical.
I jumped out of the memory and pressed my lips passionately against Cam's and he chuckled and returned my kiss. "When will I have 'save' the world?" I asked him.
"Soon," I heard from behind us. It was Daniel holding Luce's small hand in his.
"What do I need to do?"
"We must find the Relics from the Fall and the Relics of the past you share with Cam and bring them to Mount Sinai. Then you must choose," Daniel said bluntly. The sky went black for a moment and the ground shook violently. I clutched Cam to make sure he wouldn't disappear.
"I'm guessing we should start now. Daniel and Luce do you and your friends want to look for the Relics of the Fall and Cam and I will look for the Relics of our past?" I asked lacing my fingers with Cam's and a dark shadow filled his face. The shadow was his fear.
Holding onto Cam's hand we flew to London to find the first important Relic. Cam couldn't think of what it might be, but I knew exactly what it was. It was a gift I had gotten from the queen. I touched the space where the two pieces of my clavicle bone met. The necklace.
"Do you know where it could be?" he asked his hand clasping mine.
"The palace." We made it to the palace and the palace guard's eyes grew wide.
"It can't be," he whispered and pulled out a phone and started talking into it. I looked at Cam confused. He shrugged. We were escorted into the library of the palace where we waited. One by one William, Kate, baby George, Henry, and the Queen herself entered the room. The Queen's eyes widen as her eyes shifted to me and she gasped.
"What is it?" William asked worriedly and Kate wore the same worried expression.
"Get the necklace. All of you."
"The necklace?" Henry asked.
"Yes." William, Kate, George, and Henry all left leaving the Queen, Cam and I alone. My instincts from when I once lived in the palace kicked in.
"Your Majesty," I curtsied and she let out a small laugh.
"I knew it was you. Darcillella," she smiled and held my face in her hands. "Come with me," she grinned. Cam walked silently behind us as we walked through the halls and to the ballroom which had paintings and photographs of all the royal family and the closest of their friends and family. The Queen led me to a painting in which a girl with chocolate curls and brown eyes stood next to Queen Elizabeth I. Quickly my brain brought up the memory of the painstaking hours it took posing for the artist. I giggled and she smiled.
"It's me," I smiled.
"I know, your story has been passed down from generation to generation. I will give you the necklace if you attend tonight's ball of course," she smiled.
"I wouldn't miss it," I smiled.
