On the weekend there were no classes, so most of the students either stayed in their rooms or found themselves on the duel fields. The first years in the red dorm were doing something different though. As soon as Xavier had heard his father's story about his trip to the Gravekeeper's World he and Acacia, who was also there, looked at each other and decided then and there that as soon as they were able, they would go and check out the ruins that their parents had visited. After Xavier, Koyuki and Sandy had finished eating breakfast Koyuki went up to Professor Quin and said, "We're going for a walk and might not get back til late sir."
"Alright. Thanks for telling me," Dr Quin said, deciding that he liked Koyuki's attitude and that he would give her and her friends some degree of latitude in the future.
"Thank you sir."
"Just try to be back before dinner is done."
"Alright," Koyuki said, heading back to her friends. When she sat back down she said, "Okay, we can go."
Xavier quietly exclaimed, "YESS!" in glee, after which all three got up and went back to their rooms to get ready for their trip. When they were done they met up outside to find that Acacia and Will were already there waiting for them.
Acacia said, "So we're finally doing this," an hour into their hike.
"Yeah. It's been a long time coming too," Xavier commented.
"Uhh…can anyone clue us in on this?" Will asked.
"Dad told us about these cool ruins that he visited when he was here, and Acacia and I have been planning on going to them ever since."
"Wait a sec," Will said, "These wouldn't be the ruins that teleported your Mum and Dad to the Gravekeeper's world along with mine, would it?" a feeling of nervousness settling over him.
"That'd be them," Xavier said.
"Then I'm outta here," Will said, as they came upon the ruins in question. "Ahh bugger."
"Too late Will," Acacia said, "we're here." When all five students had entered through the archway a beam of light shot into the sky from the ruins, consuming the students and transporting them to the Gravekeeper's World.
As the light appeared Will shouted, "Damn it Xavier!" before all sound was eliminated while they were transported. When what seemed like only seconds had passed, the five students were standing looking up at a massive staircase leading up to what looked like a fortress. Will grabbed Xavier's collar and angrily yelled, "Look what you've gotten us into now Xavier. This is nothing like what our parents experienced."
Xavier smiled sheepishly before scratching the back of his head and said, "Oops?"
Will, angrier than ever at his friends response said, "Exactly how do you intend for us to get back, huh?"
"Well, I didn't really think about that. I mean, our parents managed to do it, so I figured…"
Acacia said, "Will, if you think about this logically then there must be some kind of trigger that will allow us passage back to Duel Academy. In which case we just have to find out what that trigger is."
Xavier said, "Now that that's decided, let's go look in that fortress thing."
"No way!" Will adamantly stated.
"Why not?"
"People build fortresses for one reason and one reason alone Xavier. That is to keep soldiers in."
"Maybe so. But since there is nothing but jungle other than that fortress, the trigger is most likely in there somewhere."
Will's face looked like it was torn between anger and mild irritation as all five ascended the stairs. When they got to the top the doors opened as if by magic as there was no one there to open them. Sandy said, "Okay, this is weird," rubbing her arms as she started to shiver in apprehension.
As the five moved further in to the fortress Will hung back with Sandy, letting Xavier, Acacia and Koyuki to take the lead. The five went up a staircase that led into the outer wall of the fortress, taking them to the top of the wall. When they emerged they saw something truly amazing. There was a bridge-like extension reaching from the wall that lead to a widish platform Xavier crossed to the platform, followed by Acacia and Koyuki.
When will tried to take a step towards it the bridge disappeared, followed by a shimmering sensation that caused the scenery to change. Whereas previously they had been standing on the top of a fortress surrounded by forest, now the three standing on the platform were standing on the edge of a wall forming some kind of pit with only one entrance. In the centre of the pit there was another one that had been dug. Two coffins were levitating in the middle of it. When the three students standing on the wall looked down they saw that the coffins had Will and Sandy in them, each bandaged up like a mummy. Xavier commented, "Would you look at that. Apparently they really do take a dim view to trespassers here."
Will called out, "I'll get you for this Xavier!" from his prone position.
Acacia, looking across from them, saw that there was a blonde man wearing tan pants, black muscle top edged with gold combined with a belt and jacket that looked like they belonged in ancient Egypt. He was carrying with him a golden staff topped with a viper's head. Acacia said, "Who are you and what do you want with us?"
The man asked, "Why have you come here?"
"We just wanted to see for ourselves the same place that our parents went to while they were our age."
"Then you have made a grave mistake."
"A mistake? Why?"
"Because, those that enter the Gravekeeper's realm are not allowed to leave here, alive!" the man melodramatically announced.
"Well, our parents did," Acacia stated.
"Well, there is one way out…wait…what is it that you two possess," the man asked, looking from Acacia to Xavier, then back again.
Acacia asked, "What do we possess? I'm not sure what you mean?"
"We Gravekeeper's have the ability to sense and locate items that possess dark powers; No matter what their ability."
"Well, we do each have one half of a pendant that Xavier's father and mine each possessed at one time."
"What about you," the man asked, looking at Koyuki, who was standing in between the two cousins.
"I don't have anything of the sort. My father did at one point, but that was destroyed like twenty years ago now."
"Then why are you standing there alongside those two?" the man asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Only those possessing a dark power can enter through the portal that you used to come here and not end up down there with your friends."
"I've got no idea, sorry."
Acacia and Xavier took the opportunity to pull their halves of the pendant from beneath their shirts. Acacia, unelected spokesperson for the group, asked, "Are these you meant?"
"Why is it broken?"
"I'm afraid that we don't have the answer to that question. You would need to ask our parents to know that."
"I see," the man said, closing his eyes. He opened them again, this time though they were alive with a white fire. He closed them again, returning them to their original orange. "It would seem that all three of you contain a presence of dark within you."
"We do!?" the three simultaneously exclaimed.
"Yes. Whatever the reason your parents gave you those halves, there can only be one true owner of any Shadow Charm. It is up to the leader of the Gravekeeper's to determine who has that right."
"Shadow Charm?" Koyuki asked, shocked by the similar name to the series of challenges that her father went through at her age.
"Indeed. There are many Shadow Charms in existence, and many more that will come into existence in the future. But that is not the concern of ours. The three of you now must undertake the ritual to prove that you are worthy of wielding the mystical powers of the Shadow Charm."
"How do we do that?" Acacia asked.
"With this," the man said, generating both a deck and a duel disk from seemingly nothing. He put the duel disk on his arm, inserting the deck into the requisite slot immediately afterwards. "Of course this won't be any ordinary duel."
"How so?" Xavier asked.
"This duel will be a Shadow Game with the fate of your souls and those of your friends at stake," the man said as a dark fog enveloped all of them.
Xavier said, "This is…I'd heard the stories, but still."
"According to Dad," Koyuki said, "Shadow Games require a great amount of physical and mental fortitude to endure. But there's more."
"More?" Acacia asked.
"Apparently the damage is real."
"No way!" Xavier exclaimed.
"Yes, and like he said, if we lose then we lose our souls."
The man thought, 'Though I lied about that bit.' He said, "Put your duel disks on and get ready to duel."
"Sure thing, jeez, impatient much?" Xavier asked, retrieving his black and green duel disk that he had received from his father one christmas(1) from his bag, while Acacia retrieved the one that her aunt gave her for her 8th birthday(2). Koyuki strapped on a jagged black duel disk that had arcane hieroglyphs(3). All three duellists placed their decks in their disks at the same time.
The man said, "Since this is a three on one duel I'll start off with twelve thousand life points."
"Uhh…just a sec," Xavier said.
"Yes?" the man prompted.
"Do you mind if you tell us your name?"
"Names are unnecessary for this duel, but if you must know, I am the Gravekeeper's Descendant."
"Oh, I'm Xavier, Xavier Yuki."
"I don't…"
"Koyuki Moto," Koyuki said.
Acacia said, "Acacia Rhodes."
"Why are you telling me your names? I just told you…"
"If you do somehow end up winning, I want to know the name of the guy that beat me," Xavier explained.
"The same goes for me," Acacia said.
"Me too," Koyuki echoed, "Though we haven't any intention of doing so."
"Well, if you insist," Gravekeeper's Descendant said. "You three can go first."
"Well then, I'll go first if nobody minds," Xavier said, looking at Koyuki and Acacia.
"No problems here," Acacia said, Koyuki echoing her statement at the same time.
Xavier drew a card before saying, "I'll play the spell card polymerization, fusing together Elemental Hero's Ocean and Woodman in order to summon Elemental Hero Absolute Zero." Both Elemental Hero's were sucked into a vortex, a white and blue, caped, warrior took the field. "Now since that was a special summon, I'll normal summon Elemental Hero Knopse, but she won't be there for long."
"Why not?" Gravekeeper's Descendant asked.
"Because I'm going to play this," Xavier said, holding up a card. "It's Rosebud, which lets me summon Elemental Hero Poison Rose." Elemental Hero Knopse was replaced by Elemental Hero Poison Rose. "Now I'll place one card face down and call it a turn."
"Now my go," Koyuki said, as she drew a card. "I summon Magician's Valkyria," a Spellcaster that bore an eerie resemblance to the Dark Magician Girl appeared on Koyuki's field. "But she won't be here long, because I'll play Magical Dimension, which lets me summon a Spellcaster to the field as long as I sacrifice a monster while there's another on the field. Luckily for me I Magician's Valkyria meets both requirements. So say hello to the Dark Magician Girl. She won't be alone for long though."
"What do you mean?" Gravekeeper's Descendant asked.
"I play Sage's Stone, which lets me summon a Dark Magician when Dark Magician Girl is on the field," Koyuki said as she waited for her duel disk to find Dark Magician for her. When it ejected from her disk she placed it on the field. "Now I'll lay one card face down and end my turn."
Acacia drew a card and said, "I'll send my Demise, King of Armageddon to the graveyard in order to special summon Hardened Arm Dragon to the field before summoning Red-Eyes Wyvern and lay two cards face down. That's it for me."
"Hah," Gravekeeper's Descendant scoffed. "Is that all you can do? Because if it is, then I'd say it's evidently not you that possesses the right to bear that pendant."
"Who cares what you think. I'm in this for my friends."
'Hmm…maybe her confidence lies in those face down cards. Well, I won't know unless I attack anyway.' Gravekeeper's Descendant drew a card. "I discard Gravekeeper's Commandant to add Necrovalley from my deck to me hand," Gravekeeper's Descendant said, as he did as he was saying. "Now I play the Field Spell Necrovalley." The area around the duellists transformed into some kind of desert valley. "Now I'll summon Gravekeeper's Heretic and attack Red-Eyes Wyvern."
Acacia bit her lip as she thought, 'Damn. With Necrovalley on the field Red-Eyes Spirit will be useless.'
Koyuki said, "I activate my trap card, Negate Attack, stopping your attack and ending the battle phase."
Gravekeeper's Descendant thought, 'She certainly has the potential to wield the Shadow Charm. But I wonder why she stopped the attack. After all, it would only get her that much closer to earning the Shadow Charm if her allies were destroyed.' "Well done, though I am curious why it is that your cousin wasn't the one to save you."
"How did you know that Xavier's my cousin?" Acacia demanded.
"That doesn't matter. Though I am curious, do you often play the damsel in distress?"
"Damsel in distr…"
Xavier said, "Bad move buddy."
"Bad move? Why is this so?" Gravekeeper's Descendant asked.
Acacia's sclera turned green and angrily said, "I'll destroy you when my turn comes round you pompous ass," then her eyes changed back and said, "Xavier, it's your go."
"I'm not done with mine quite yet, thank you very much," Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "I lay four cards face down and end my turn."
Xavier drew a card and said, "Then it's my turn." Looking at the card he drew. He thought, 'Hanewata! That was early,' as the picture on the card winked at him.
'He can see the spirit of the card.'
"I'll attack your Gravekeeper's Heretic with Elemental Hero Absolute Zero."
"Not so fast," Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "I play Negate Attack, ending the Battle Phase."
"Fine, then I'm done."
"Which means it's my go," Koyuki said as she drew a card. "I play the spell card Spell Absorption, which gives me 500 life points each time a spell card is activated. Dark Magician attack Gravekeeper's Heretic with his Dark Magic Attack."
Koyuki's Dark Magician shot a wave of dark magical energy at Gravekeeper's Heretic, but before it could hit, Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "I activate the trap card Changing Destiny, which switches your Dark Magician to defence mode before letting you choose an effect. Either I gain life points equal to half of Dark Magician's attack points, or you take damage equal to half of Dark Magician's attack points."
Koyuki looked at her hand and grinned, as she said, "I'll take the damage thanks."
"You will?" Gravekeeper's Descendant exclaimed, shocked that anyone would do such a thing.
"Yeah. Because that lets me summon Eco, Mystical Spirit of the Forest, when I summon Eco, Mystical Spirit of the Forest this way, I inflict the same amount of effect damage on you. Of course it has the effect of neither of use taking any effect damage for the rest of the turn, but it's worth it." Koyuki's life points dropped to 2750 while Gravekeeper's Descendant's dropped to 11750. "That's it for me."
"My go," Acacia said, drawing a card. "I play Pot of Greed, which lets me draw two cards." Acacia drew two cards. "Now I'll remove from play Red-Eyes Wyvern in order to special summon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from my hand." Red-Eyes Wyvern flew off the field, a massive dragon flying onto it from the spot that Red-Eyes Wyvern disappeared. "Now I'll sacrifice 2000 of my life points to play Dimension Fusion, which returns my Red-Eyes Wyvern to the field." Red-Eyes Wyvern flew back from where it had left the field, settling in beside Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon. "Now I think I'll sacrifice Hardened Armed Dragon and Red-Eyes Wyvern to summon Red-Eyes Black Dragon."
'Maybe I was wrong about her,' Gravekeeper's Descendant thought.
"Now, I attack Heretic with Red-Eyes Black Dragon's Inferno Flame Breath." Acacia's Red-Eyes breathed a flaming ball at his monster.
"I play Slip of Fortune, which stops your attack and removes your Red-Eyes from the game."
"Red-Eyes!" Acacia exclaimed. She then apologised sadly for failing it. Her sclera turned green again as she said, "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, obliterate that Monster," her manic glare conveying her pain. Gravekeeper's Descendant lost 500 life points when his monster was destroyed.
"I activate Rite of Spirit, which returns a Gravekeeper's monster from the graveyard to the field." Gravekeeper's Heretic reappeared on the field.
Acacia growled and glared in anger at the monster that cost her her Red-Eyes, before she said, "I'm done."
"I sacrifice Gravekeeper's Heretic in order to summon my Father, Gravekeeper's Chief. His effect allows me to summon a Gravekeeper's monster from the graveyard. He re-summoned Gravekeeper's Heretic, this time in defence mode. In addition he negates the effects of Necrovalley on my side of the field. Then I shall attack Dark Magician Girl with Gravekeeper's Chief's own Dark Magic Attack." Gravekeeper's Chief levelled his staff at Koyuki's female magician, who pointed her own staff at it. They launched their respective Dark Magic Attacks at each other, but Dark Magician Girl's was soon overpowered, getting destroyed when it hit. Koyuki's face contorted in anger, which caused the two halves of the Shadow Charm to glow and the Millennium Eye to appear on her head. The Gravekeeper's Descendant thought, 'So, it belongs with her.' "Now I'll end it there."
"Then it's my turn," Xavier said, his pupils turning red. "I sacrifice Elemental Hero Poison Rose in order to summon Evil Hero Malicious Edge. His pupils returned to normal before saying, "Do you mind Acacia?"
"It's fine," his cousin said.
"In that case, Malicious Edge, destroy Gravekeeper's Heretic with your Evil Slash Attack." Xavier's fiend bifurcated Gravekeeper's Heretic in one slash. "When Evil Hero Malicious Edge attacks a monster in defence mode the difference between his attack points and your monsters defence points is subtracted from your life points. So say sayonara to 1200 of your life points." Gravekeeper's Descendant's life points dropped to 10550. "Now I'll take care of Gravekeeper's Chief with Elemental Hero Absolute Zero's Tidal Torrent." Xavier's Elemental Hero extended its arm at Gravekeeper's Chief and shot a powerful, wide, stream of water at it, further reducing Gravekeeper's Descendant's life points by another 100. "That's it for me."
"My turn," Koyuki said, "I activate Card of Sanctity, which causes all of us to draw until we are each holding six cards in our hands." Each of the participating duellists drew until they were holding six cards. "Now I'll play Polymerization to fuse the Dark Magician on my field with the Buster Blader that I just drew in order to summon the almighty Dark Paladin." A Spellcaster wearing red and gold magical armour(4) appeared in place of the Dark Magician. "Since there are two dragon type monsters in the graveyard Dark Paladin gains an extra one thousand attack points, raising it up to 3900. I'll place one card face down before attacking you directly." Koyuki's magician swung its halberd at their opponent, sending a crescent blade of magical energy flying in the direction of its swing. Gravekeeper's Descendant's life points reduced to 6550. Now I'll play Restructer Revolution, which inflicts two hundred points of damage to you for each card in your hand, and I count six of 'em, so you take 1200 points of damage." Gravekeeper's Descendant's life points reduced to 5350. "Now I'll give it over to Acacia."
Acacia drew a card. "I'll activate Dark Dragon Ritual, and send Axe Raider to the graveyard in order to summon Knight of Dark Dragon. Now I'll activate his ability, which lets me sacrifice him in order to summon a Red-Eyes Black Dragon from my deck."
Koyuki thought, 'She's got more than one of them?'
"Now I'll play Polymerization in order to fuse Red-Eyes with the Meteor Dragon in my hand in order to summon Meteor Black Dragon." A purple dragon with a glowing orange underbelly that was equal in size to Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon appeared next to said monster. "Now, Meteor Black Dragon, attack him directly." Meteor Black Dragon shot a flaming meteor at Gravekeeper's Descendent, reducing his life points to 3050. "Now, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, attack." Gravekeeper's descendent lost another 2800 life points. "I end my turn."
"In that case, I'll place one card face down and activate Card Destruction, which causes us to discard our entire hands, then draw the same number of cards that we just discarded." The duellists discarded their hands. "Now I summon Gravekeeper's Heretic in defence mode."
"Heretic again?!" the three students exclaimed, well and truly sick of it by now.
"Indeed. Now I can play the spell card Monster Reborn, which lets me summon a monster from my graveyard. So come forth, Gravekeeper's Visionary. Gravekeeper's Visionary gains 200 attack points for every Gravekeeper's monster in my graveyard. Which gives it an extra 1600 attack points, but let's not forget about Necrovalley's effect, taking my monsters attack points up to 4100." Xavier whistled, impressed by the monster. "Now, I attack Black Meteor Dragon, inflicting 600 points of damage to you Acacia." Acacia growled, both in anger and in pain at the destruction of yet another of her Red-Eyes monsters. Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "That will do for now," confident that, despite his lack of life points he would easily survive this round.
Xavier said, "I activate Dark Fusion, which lets me fuse Evil Hero Malicious Edge with…"
"Malicious Fiend isn't strong enough Xavier!" Will called out from his coffin.
"…Power Giant," Xavier said, revealing said monster from his hand, "which lets me summon Evil Hero Dark Gaia." A pale blue and black, winged, fiend appeared on the field in place of Evil Hero Malicious Fiend.
Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "What can that do, it has no attack points."
"True, Dark Gaia starts off with zero attack points, but it gains attack points equal to the total amount of attack points of the monsters used to summon it, which means it has a grand total of 4800, which is more than enough to beat you. Now, Dark Gaia, attack Gravekeeper's Visionary." Dark Gaia obliterated Gravekeeper's Visionary, depleting the rest of Gravekeeper's Descendant's life points.
The valley disappeared, returning all six of those present to the pit that they had been at at the start of the duel. Gravekeeper's Descendant clicked his fingers, teleporting Will and Sandy from their imprisonment to be standing with the three other students. They walked around the wall to meet their opponent halfway. When they were there Gravekeeper's Descendant said, "All three of you are worthy of wielding the power of the Shadow Charm in your possession, however, as I said at the beginning, there is only one true owner of it. That person is Koyuki."
"Really?!" Xavier exclaimed, not really surprised, but still shocked that it wasn't either Acacia or himself.
"Yes. I'm not sure if any of you noticed it but during the duel Koyuki subconsciously tapped in to the power of the Shadow Charm. This means that it is the fate of the Shadow Charm to end up with her. As to what that fate may be, even we Gravekeeper's do not know." He smiled before saying, "It is lucky that you came this day."
"Why's that?" Will asked.
"If you had come any other day then there would have been numerous guards running about the place and you would have had people trying to behead you left and right. As it is I can return you to your world without any problems, so unless you have anything else to do while you're here…"
"No. there's nothing," Will interjected before Xavier could get them into more trouble, not wanting to stay in the Gravekeeper's Realm any more than absolutely necessary.
"In that case, could you please give those halves of the Shadow Charm to me for a moment?"
"Sure," Xavier and Acacia said, each already in the process of removing their half.
Once he had both halves of the pendant Gravekeeper's Descendant started to intone. "By the power of the Gravekeeper I join together the separate pieces of the Shadow Charm…" A weird black substance entered both halves of the pendant as Gravekeeper's Descendant talked. "...to make it whole once again." Gravekeeper's Descendant brought the two pieces together, each piece glowing gold as the black energy joined the two together. The pendant, now whole, throbbed in Gravekeeper's Descendant's hands. He handed it to Koyuki, who received it without saying a word, saying, "Here, it is yours. Do with it as you see fit, however, know this. It is now far more powerful than it ever has been in the past and should it get into the wrong hands the whole of your world, and ours may be at stake."
"Thank you," Koyuki said, "I'll keep it safe."
Gravekeeper's Descendant smiled at Koyuki while he said, "I'm sure you will. Now, leave at once, I sense that someone is coming."
"Sure thing, but uhh…we don't really know how," Koyuki said.
"Use the power of the pendant."
"The…" Koyuki said, holding the pendant in front of her. She saw some arcane symbols on it that she could somehow recognise. A *6-9+millennium Eye appeared on her forehead as she read, "From this plane…we return…from whence we came,…Hiradt."
Acacia asked, "What's that supposed to meAAA…" as they were engulfed by light once again.
When the light died down the students were back in the ruins on Duel Academy Island. Xavier said, "Well then, what's next, a trip to the Dark Worl…" he stopped talking as he flew through the air courtesy of Will's fist.
Will angrily said, "I thought I told you, never again?"
"Geez Will, I was only joking man. I didn't think you'd take it so…"
"It's always a big joke to you, isn't it? Look what happened just then. You weren't the one in the damned coffin. Who knows what would happen if you did something like that again. One of these days you'll find yourself in a situation that you can't duel your way out of. What'll you do then huh?"
Acacia sighed and said, "Look Will," not liking the way this was going, and knowing how much Xavier valued his friendship with Will. "You knew the dangers and you still went with us anyway. So I don't think that you have the right to turn around and start to get angry now that we're all back here. Besides, I don't think that Gravekeeper's Descendent would have actually killed you and Sandy."
"You weren't down there either."
"She's right Will," Koyuki said.
"Not you too," Will plead.
"Gravekeeper's Descendent merely used you and Sandy as a tool to force us to duel at our best in order to determine exactly who was destined to possess this," Koyuki said, holding the Shadow Charm up for him to see.
Acacia, looking to move the conversation on from where it was, said, "Hey Koyuki?"
"Acacia?"
"What were those words you said before we were transported back here?"
"Those?"
"Yeah."
"I just read the runes on the Shadow Charm. See," Koyuki replied, holding up the Shadow Charm for Acacia's study.
"I've never seen anything like that on it before," Acacia said, moving to look at it. After a couple of seconds she said, "Nope can't see anything."
"Eh?" Koyuki exclaimed, "but they're right there, see?" Acacia looked where Koyuki was indicating, but could still see nothing. She shook her head. "But they are right there, clear as day, see," holding it up so that the rest of the group could see and, hopefully, back up her story.
"Sorry Koyuki, there's nothing there," Will said, the others echoing the sentiment.
"I guess this means that you were truly destined to possess it Koyuki," Acacia said. "Though I do wonder why we were each given half of it."
Xavier said, "I was always curious too, but whenever I asked Mum and Dad about it, they always said, 'you'd understand one day'."
"Maybe today is that day," Koyuki suggested.
"Maybe," Acacia said, her voice conveying her doubt. "Well, even if it's not then the time will come that we do anyway, won't it?"
"It better," Xavier said, as his irises turned red and Acacia's sclera turned green for half a second before reverting to normal.
XXXXXXX
A/N
(1) Jaden gave Xavier a duel disk that he had kept from the Dark World when he had gone there during his time in the academy.
(2) Alexis kept hold of Camula's duel disk as a memento of their battles against the Shadow Riders.
(3) Koyuki won a design contest when she was eight years old that had students in her school design a duel disk that would then be made for them by KaibaCorp. She based her design around the description of the Chaos Duel Disks that her father had described. She ended up coming second, but her disk was designed anyway due to Mokuba's influence.
(4) I have decided to have any Dark Magician derivative summoned by Koyuki wearing red instead of black due to the different version of the Dark Magician used in the summoning. Koyuki's Dark Magician Girl's outfit is quite a bit darker than the one owned by her father.
