Year 7
The Dashing Knight, the Beautiful Princess, and the Dangerous Quest
Once upon a time, there was a Dark Lord that rose into power. Above all else he feared death and so sought to anchor his soul in the mortal world by whatever means necessary. He chose six different items: a diary, Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem, Helga Hufflepuff's cup, Salazar Slytherin's locket, the Gaunt family ring, and his familiar, a pet snake. To each his fixed a portion of his soul through Dark Magic and hid them away. The diary he gave to a trusted follower who kept it safe in his home. Ravenclaw's diadem he placed in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. To another loyal follower he gifted Hufflepuff's cup and she hid it away in her Gringotts vault. Slytherin's locket was to be left in a cave surrounded by enchantments and Inferi but a follower betrayed him and stole the locket away to destroy. The Gaunt family ring was placed in the shack where his former relatives lived before he killed them with a curse that would activate whenever someone put it on their finger. His snake he kept by his side, confident that with his soul spread out as it was no one would be able to kill him. And thus his reign of terror descended upon the land.
One day, two knights and two princesses got wind of how the Dark Lord had managed to live for so long. They didn't know where they would find the items but they knew they had to look. So together they set out on a journey. They brought along with them Godric Gryffindor's sword which he had used to slay a basilisk, infusing the venom into the blade. Their idea was that they could use it to destroy the different items as they couldn't be destroyed by any normal means. The locket they discovered when they were staying at one of the knight's houses that formerly belonged to his godfather. As it turned out, the godfather's brother was the follower that betrayed the Dark Lord. The Gaunt family ring they stumbled upon when they visited the town the Dark Lord had been born in. One of the knights got caught up in a Compulsion Charm and tried to put the ring on. However, his friends acted quickly and thus he was saved from the curse. The four were captured while they were hunting but as luck would have it, the one who captured them was the man who held the diary. They managed to escape while taking the diary with them. After they recovered they snuck into Gringotts to try and steal away Hufflepuff's cup. They did it but along the way freed a dragon and rode it out of Gringotts to get away. Their next stop was Hogwarts, partially to look for Ravenclaw's diadem but also because they heard that the Dark Lord was attacking there and they wanted to help. The house elves who worked at Hogwarts informed them of a place called the Come and Go Room that could become anything a person needed. Inside it they located Ravenclaw's diadem and then all that was left was the snake. The two knights went to confront the Dark Lord while the princesses took the sword to kill the snake.
The Dark Lord, thinking that his triumph was secure, taunted the knights endlessly while they simply dodged every spell he flung at them. They had to bide their time until the princesses gave them the signal. A sudden birdcall from above had the knights grinning and bombarding the Dark Lord with every spell they knew. Eventually one had him on defense while the other slipped under his guard and hit him square in the chest, defeating him. The land rejoiced and the four were elevated to the highest honor available to give.
