First off, I wanted to say I'm so sorry for taking so long to update this fic. I've been so busy with my other WIP that this one kept getting put off.

Secondly, I wanted to thank everyone that has been following my story. I adore each and every one of you.

So, without further ado, I present to you; chapter 7

Victoire groaned and sat up in her bed. She grasped her head in her hands. A splitting headache had woken her up. Her mouth felt dry, and her limbs ached. Gingerly she peeked through her fingers. Her dorm mate and best friend, Sav, who was already up and about, turned at the sound of Victoire's groan.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty. Sleep well?" The other girl asked, eyeing Victoire.

Victoire shook her head and then groaned again when a sharp pain shot through it.

"I feel like utter shite." She said grouchily.

"I'll bet you do." Said Sav. "You snogged Altair last night."

Victoire's head shot up and she stared at Sav in horror.

"I what? That's- no. You're mistaken. I was with Teddy all night-" she said desperately.

"No," Sav said slowly. "You were with Teddy at first. He went to go get another drink and when I turned around you were gone. I went looking for you and saw you in a corner snogging Altair. You were really enjoying yourself, too."

"Did Teddy…" she started. Sav nodded seriously.

"Oh no." She said. Putting her head in her hands and crying.

"You weren't the only one snogging, though." Said Sav darkly. "I saw Teddy with Cleo."

"Cleo?" Victoire asked in disbelief. Wrinkling her nose. "That can't be right. Teddy hates Cleo."

Sav shook her head. "They were all over each other."

Another stab of pain shot through Victoire's eyes and she groaned again.

"Oh, right, you're hungover. Here, I brought this elixir up for you." Said Sav, handing a small flask over to Victoire. She took a swig and instantly felt her headache ebb. By the time she had finished the elixir her head felt completely normal.

"I need to talk to Teddy." She said, throwing her blankets off and hunting for her robes.

Heavy paranoia fell on Victoire as she walked through the halls of Hogwarts. Everywhere she looked, teachers were regarding her suspiciously. She gulped. If her parents found out she had partaken in underage drinking they would be furious with her, and she'd probably get kicked off her quidditch team.

She gulped and hurried off to the Slytherin common room.

"Thestral" she mumbled to the door. It parted and and she hurried to Teddy's dorm. She knocked hesitantly and was met by a bare chested Reeves Zabini.

"Hey Reeves, Teddy here?" She asked, trying to peer around Reeves. He blocked her way.

"He doesn't want to see you right now, 'Toire." The boy said, his face set in a hard frown.

"Why-" she started to say.

"You know why." He said.

Victoire balled her hands into fists.

"I wasn't the only one snogging random people last night." She said angrily. "Besides, I was drunk! I don't even remember kissing Altair."

Reeves blinked once. "Well, I guess you need to talk to Hayes about that."

Victoire had had enough. "Teddy!" She yelled over Reeves' shoulder. "Teddy Lupin! You come out here right-" She was cut off when Reeves stepping into her space and closed the door behind him.

"He's a wreck, Victoire! He doesn't want to see you! You were all over him last night, flirting with him, grinding on him, and then you went and snogged Hayes!" Reeves yelled at her.

Victoire clenched her jaw and rapidly blinked back the tears that threatened to spill over.

"It wasn't my fault, Reeves! Besides, he snogged Cleo! Cleo!" She yelled back. Pointing at the door.

Reeves took a deep breath

"He didn't mean to kiss Cleo. She- she made him. He doesn't know how it happened-"

"Neither do I!" She yelled, beyond frustrated now. "The last thing I remember is trying to find Teddy and running into Altair. He told me Teddy and Cleo were all over each other so I followed him somewhere else. He gave me a drink. That's the last thing I remember. And Teddy would know that if he'd talk to me!" She screamed, not at Reeves, but at the door behind him, where she knew Teddy was listening.

The door flew open and Teddy stood there. His hair was a dull, ashy grey color. His eyes were red a bloodshot. He was glaring at Victoire. A look that she normally would have cringed at, but she was too angry. She matched his look evenly.

"Just leave, Victoire." He said in a gravelly voice. Victoire blinked at him, suddenly feeling very defeated.

"Fine." She said, trying to keep her tears at bay. She turned on her heel and stalked out of dormitories. Halfway down she was met by Altair, who merely gave her a smug grin and winked. Before she knew what was happening, her hand had cracked across his face.

"Fils de put!" She spat at him. She slapped him again. "Salaud!"

Altair stared at her, his hand covering the now red spot on his cheek where she had hit him. A slow, snide smile spread across his face.

"Bien dit, ma chérie." He said cooly. Victoire let out an angry screech and stalked off towards her dorm to get her broom. Then she made her way down to the quidditch field, not even bothering to change into her flying gear.

She grabbed the box containing the snitch and stalked out to the field, still seething with anger.

Who did Reeves and Teddy think they were, standing against her like that? She had tried to explain. She had tried to apologize. Well, to hell with them. She had no time for petty boys. And who the fuck did Altair think he was? Kissing someone that pissed? Victoire released the snitch and mounted her broom. She gave it a fifteen second head start before kicking off the ground with a little too much force.

As she was flying, it started to rain. Big, fat drops pounded down on her as she flew, but it didn't phase her. She saw the snitch twenty feet below her and dived for it. She caught it easily and then tossed it again. Rising high above the pitch and circling. She squinted through the rain and saw a head of fiery red hair.

She did not! She thought angrily.

Had Cleo actually dared to confront her? Agitation surged through Victoire as she brought her broom down and landed on the sopping grass. Cleo stood on the sidelines, her arms crossed. She wore a smug grin on her face. Irritating as she was, Victoire had always thought she was beautiful. She sat her broom on the grass and made her way over to Cleo. She pulled her wet hair away from her face and piled it on top of her head in a messy knot, securing it with a hair tie.

"What do you want, Porter?" She asked.

Cleo gave a sharp laugh and met Victoire halfway until they nearly a foot from one another.

"Just wanted to see how you were feeling today, ickle fifth year. Last night you looked like you were having a hard time holding your liquor." She sneered. Victoire clenched her jaw.

"Well, seeing as I'm out here flying, I'd say I'm doing just fine." She said sweetly, her words dripping with sarcasm. The smile slipped off Cleo's face and she regarded Victoire with narrow eyes.

"Did you get out with your virginity intact?" She asked cruely. Victoire's nostrils flared and she glared at the other girl.

"Because I'm not sure Teddy would have if that party had continued. Did you see us last night? We were all over each other." Victoire took a step towards Cleo. The redhead was taller, but Victoire was stronger. She knew she could easily take the other girl down.

"Sounds a bit like he was coerced into kissing you, Porter, because I couldn't see him voluntarily kissing a nasty thing like you." She sneered back. Cleo bared her teeth and sprang towards Victoire, who dodged her easily. She spun and grabbed the redheads hair as she stumbled and slammed the girl's nose into her knee. Cleo stumbled back, clutching her nose, but Victoire was nowhere near finished. All the rage she felt, all the shit Reeves had given her, exploded out of her and she landed a fist into Cleo's gut. Cleo fell to the ground, one hand clutching her nose, the other her stomach. Victoire stood above her, breathing fast.

"Bitch!" She spat harshly.

"I think you broke my nose!" Cleo wailed. Victoire laughed harshly and made her way over to where her broom was lying. She summoned the snitch with her wand and put it back in its box. When she looked over her shoulder she could see that Cleo had made her way shakily to her feet and was limping off the field, still clutching her nose, which had a steady stream of blood coming from it. Victoire snorted and shouldered her broom, making her way back up to the castle.

She avoided the many looks she got as she passed. She was still soaking wet and covered in mud and Cleo's blood. She walked up the Ravenclaw tower and snapped the answer to the riddle the statue gave her. She opened the door to her dorm room. Sav was still there, humming quietly to herself. She gasped when she saw Victoire standing in the doorway.

"'Toire!" What- what happened?!"

She asked, alarmed. "Who-"

"Porter." Victoire said as she propped her broom against the wall and shrugged off her soaked robes. "I think I broke her nose." She said, her voice devoid of emotion. She suddenly felt very tired.

"You- you broke Porter's nose?" Sav asked hysterically. "Why?"

Victoire shrugged. "She was asking for it." She recalled the events on the quidditch field. By the time she was finished Sav was sitting on the edge of her bed, her mouth hanging open.

"You can't just break people's noses, 'Toire." She said, trying to sound stern. A smiles played around her lips.

"You're a little late on the lecture, Sav." Victoire said. A giggle slipped between her lips. Sav shook her head.

"Go take a shower, you're filthy, and you smell." She said affectionately.

Victoire groaned in pleasure as the hot water beat down on her back, washing away the events of the day. She knew she'd probably get at least a month's worth of detention for the scene out on the quidditch field, and a howler, mostly likely screaming at her in French from her mother, but she didn't care. Breaking Cleo's nose had been worth it. Idly she wondered how Teddy would react when he found out what had happened. She realized she didn't care. Teddy could just go ahead and be angry if he wanted. She was done dealing with silly boys who couldn't portray their emotions.

Victoire stepped out of the shower and cast a drying charm on her hair and wrapped a towel around herself. She made her way back to her dorm. When she opened her door she stifled a scream when she saw Teddy standing there. His eyes popped as he regarded her. Victoire pulled the towel tighter around herself and glared at Teddy.

"What do you want, Lupin?" She snapped . Teddy rolled his eyes.

"I just want to talk, 'Toire." He said, putting his hands up in a mock surrender.

"Fine. Talk." She said curtly. Teddy took a deep breath, suddenly looking very nervous.

"Victoire," He said levelly "I'm sorry for how I reacted. I shouldn't have blocked you out. I shouldn't have left you alone last night. I-" he broke off in a choked voice. Victoire softened slightly. She made her way over to her bed and patted the spot next to her. Teddy sat down next to her.

"It's just- we haven't talked about- about what happened in Hogsmead. And then last night we were dancing. I just- I'm confused. Where are we?"

Victoire took a deep breath.

"You need to make a choice, Teddy. I'm not waiting for you to figure your feelings out. You're my best friend, I care about you. But… I can't handle this- this awkward tension between us. You kissed me. And then you just left! I don't want to play games." She said, looking at him. Teddy met her eyes.

"I- I don't know what's going on, 'Toire. I-" he broke off. Victoire clenched her jaw and thought back to the decision she had made in the shower.

"Then leave." She said firmly. Teddy regarded her with wide eyes.

"What? No, I don't want to leave. I just meant-" he started to say in a choked voice. Victoire closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

"I can't do this, Teddy. Tell me what you want, or leave." She said, staring down at her hands. She knew that if she looked at him she would break down.

"'Toire…" Teddy said, reaching out to touch her shoulder. Victoire shrugged away from him but didn't respond otherwise. With a shaky breath, Teddy stood and made his way towards the door. He stopped and Victoire could feel his eyes on her.

"Go. Please." She said, still staring at the floor.

She heard the door click and she let out a shaky gasp. Finally succumbing to the tears she had been holding back all day.
