As the weeks went by, time spent in Basic Orientation was ending, and Harry found his schedule had more classes added to it every other day. At least he had a free hour.

He slowly found that he started to enjoy his weapons and history lessons more enjoyable, once he got used to them.

His friendship with his year-mates grew, and he had a permanent seat in the Common Room with the older Trainees: Kris, Jerome, Jacob, and Lyra, when she shows up to eat with them and not with the Court.

Harry found that he soon stopped worrying about what the Elspeth said and just tries to get his daily workload done before the bell rings for lights out.

He continued to work with Morgan because he came to realize that riding a regular horse was different then riding a Companion, as Morgan had to set limits to what she would do willingly, and not mention that Sayvil was a constant watcher, adding in her own comments in a few times a week. Morgan was always there for Harry, when he had bouts of homesickness and a shoulder to lean on when that sickness came.

On one late day, Harry found himself near the Companion's Field just wondering lost in his own thought and wishing his mother and father was here. He barely made it to the gate when he felt something touch his back.

:What are you doing out here?: Morgan questioned

:I just couldn't sleep thought a walk might help : Harry let out a deep sigh.

:There are not any lanterns out here, Chosen. You could have slipped and fell into the Terilee.: Morgan comments, as she pressed her shoulder against Harry's side.

: Sorry, I guess I should have stayed closer to the dorms but I just wanted to just move, it's not like back home when I would hide out in the loft of sneak a ride on my old horse.: harry shook his head trying to clear out the memories.

:It's alright to feel homesick, everyone does. You think your year-mates do not feel the same as you do?: Morgan questioned. :Of course, they don't go walking into Companion's Field at night either.:

:Well I'm not them and being near you just makes me feel better okay.: Harry responds. Mindspeech was coming easier to him, then any other Gift he may have yet.

:Even grown Heralds feel homesickness as well, but of course over time, the palace and Collegium grows into their true home.: Morgan stated, :But that might not be helping right now.:

:I know but sometimes i just want the world to stop and that i was in my loft watching the traders bring in the new horses.:

:That's not possible, and you know it.: Morgan stated. :But you do know you can go out into the city, right?:

Harry stopped and looked at his Companion. :Yes I know but the rules say I need another trainee with me the first time I go.:

Morgan snorted. :Who told you that?:

:One of the older trainees, I forgot who it was, I wasn't think about at the time.: Harry answered

:Honestly, you should not believe everything the Trainees come up with. There isn't any rule stating a first year trainee has to stay in the grounds.: Morgan explains. :Some of your fellow Trainees just say things that aren't correct.:

:Well i was gonna ask Corina, and Stephan to join me on the trip.: he thought as he looked up at the night sky.

:Also the teachers trust the Companions to keep you Trainees out of trouble, but sometimes, we get our hooves in it too.: Morgan whickered

"What?" Harry questioned breaking the silence of the night.

Morgan turned sparkling eyes, on her Chosen. : Yes, we're not infallible, if the Companion doesn't agree with their Chosen, they tend to let their feelings be known.:

:Really, well that's good to know: Harry smiled at that. :Well I guess I should head back to bed.:

:Well, get on. I'll give you a ride back.: Morgan offered as she moved so Harry could mount.

The smile he had just lit up the night as he mounted Morgan to ride to the edge of Companion's Field.

:Sleep well, Chosen.: Morgan stated as she went off disappearing into the night.

"I hate when they do that." Harry muttered in to the night.

The following morning, Harry had the leisure to sleep in but that was only for five minutes because, the sense of duty that was growing within him urged him to rise, since there were times when the Collegium didn't hold classes, the Trainees needed some time off from the day-to-day workload.

However, that did not stop a few of the Trainees from studying on their own, except for sparring and weapons work.

"You believed that trick?" Jerome questioned as he was in the tack shed polishing some of his Companion's gear. Harry had found him via Morgan and asked him about that rumor about having an older trainee come with them into the city.

Harry slowly nodded with a light blush on his cheek.

"Some Blue came up with it, and it spread like wildfire. There isn't anything stopping you from going out to city. Mainly the Collegium provides everything we need so we don't bother, but we do like to go out and have a good time without getting any marks in the Book." Jerome explained

Harry nodded and thought about what he wanted to do.

"There are shops that cater food, Taverns, but I wouldn't suggest going there. Or just go explore the city." Jerome stated he put up the tack, and went to his Companion's stall to give his mare a good brushing.

Harry went over to the yard fence still deep in thought wondering if going to the city would help him get used to being away from home.

Corina and Stephan were talking over an assignment and the fact that they needed a few new quills and ink, so they had to make a trip into the city when they saw their year-mate not paying attention to his surroundings.

Corina walked up and put up a booted foot on the fence, "What's on your mind?"

Harry gave a start "Lords of light, Corina, you trying to kill me now."

"If I was a bandit maybe, but Heralds don't go in for killing other Heralds, since that would cause a double murder." Corina answered

" I was thinking about taking a trip in to the city." Harry answered the question.

Stephan was doubled over laughing, and gasping for breath.

Harry threw a rag at his year mate. "It wasn't that funny, Stephan." Harry growled out.

Stephan dodged the missile, and grinned, "Yes, it was."

"We were planning on going into the city heading to the market place." Corina explained.

"Great, I was planning on asking if you two wanted to come with me but this works out great when do you want to leave?" Harry asked smiling at how it all worked out.

"We have to get the normal tack for the four-feets." Stephan answered,

The three Trainees got their Companion's tack, and met their Companions at the stables.

"Carlen! Hold still!" Stephan exclaimed

His Companion just continued to dance out of his reached whining the whole time.

Corina and Harry both snickered at Stephen.

"Fine, I'll just get a regular horse." Stephen stated

Carlen finally stopped his dance and slowly trotted back to his Chosen.

Stephen shook his head, and mounted. "Sometimes, I swear he Chose me to be a pain in my rump."

Carlen tossed his head and whickered a laugh.

"I think you two are perfectly matched." Corina replied as she mounted Dasher.

Stephan just glares at her and mounts up. Harry just smiles and tries to play innocent.

:You are not so innocent.: Morgan commented as the three Companions headed out of the stable and onto the path that lead to one of the gates that separated the palace/Collegium grounds from the rest of the city.

:I have no idea what you mean: Harry sent back. They all pass through the gate harry heard the sound or the traders passing by.

Morgan sent the image of her view of Harry running from the study of the Ashkevron estate.

: Yes, i was that bad but come on those guys were funny: harry laughed aloud

Morgan rolled her eyes, and continued to lead the other two, the market place.

: Plus they would give you a few copper for helping out: Harry added

: I doubt you and I are thinking of the same thing.: Morgan stated as she weaved through traffic. :Why would I need a few coppers for?:

:Huh?: he looked down to his Companion :What that suppose to mean?:

:You could have waited until I was in the yard to come running outside, not in the street. There isn't any yard that is blocked from me.: Morgan explained.

Harry just blushed and ducked his head.

The three Companions stopped at crossway to allow throughway traffic to go across the street.

"So where do you want to do first?" he asked at the crossway cleared.

"We'll go to the Companion's Bell then head out on foot." Corina replies, "Our Companions are a little too big to walk in between the vendors."

"Sounds good to me, I just hope I don't get to lost." Harry agrees

:Not everyone wears Grays.: Morgan comments, :Just stay with them, even if you're to bored by Corina's shopping habits, Dasher says she plans on getting some cloth to make a quilt for her room.:

: But cloth shopping is so boring: Harry's shoulders slumped

Morgan did not want to tell Harry about how she used to get her clothing, she had to hunt down the deer herself, if she wanted a new set of clothing, back when she was human. : You males always say that.:

Harry just grunts and head towards the Companion's Bell.

"Harry, hurry up and stop day dreaming." Stephan called out to him.

: Oh, we shall reinforcements should you need it.: Morgan stated as soon as they were in the stable of the Bell.

They all headed out and went to the market.

Harry was just looking around then felt a hand on his shoulder. "Harry, slow down the vendors isn't going anywhere soon."

After what seemed like hours to Harry; Stephan, who had an eye for cloth, he help Corina chose the best cloth out of the used cloth vendors.

"The bell has the best pigeon pie." Corina stated as they headed back to the bell after the morning of shopping.

Harry was just tired ' Why did we go cloth shopping first.' he thought to himself.

Morgan laughed. :Would you rather have stayed up the Hill and studied?:

:No, I just wish we saved it for last.: He sent as he flopped in to the chair.

The serving wench brought over cider for them, took their order away. Harry took a drink and gave a sigh as the cool drink went down his throat.

"What are your plans for Midwinter?" Corina asked as she held her mug of cider.

"Rowena is dragging me to her home village." Stephen answered "What about you and Harry?"

"I'm going home, and see if I can't explain to mother that I'm living the life I want." Corina answered

"Heading back home to see my parents and ask them a few things." Harry replied

Stephan looked down into his mug, and then nodded his thanks at the wench who set down his pie.

"Hey Stephan, what wrong you got that 'i have training with Kero' look on your face." Harry asked

Stephan looked up, "I grew up in Exile's Gate, and then before I was Chosen, my mother passed away."

His two year-mates fell silent and bowed their heads. "I'm sorry to hear that." Corina apologized as she places her hand on his shoulder.

Stephan shrugged off Corina's hand. "I'm not. There are children that are worse off than I was." He took a bite of his lunch. "Don't even ask about my father, because I didn't know him."

The rest of the meal passed quickly after that. The small group went back up the hill. Harry spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure out math problems.
