Thanks for Sorryabout'ya and Guest for reviewing. I appreciate it. If you're enjoying this story, please take the time to review as I love hearing your thoughts. If you want anything specific to happen, feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to incorporate it into the story. I love writing this story, but I admit it doesn't leave me feeling very inspired with the lack of reviews for this story. It's up to you in the end if you want to review, but every writer likes to hear your thoughts as that's the only way they know how they're doing. Hope you enjoy this next update. I don't own the show, but I do own the plot/the character of Angel as the previous writer gave me permission to continue.

Chapter 7

(Outside the restaurant, Caroline, Damon, Elena, and Angel stand on the sidewalk. Elena was trying to control her nerves in front of Damon. Despite the fact that she had so much to tell him, so much to ask him, she was drawing a blank. She wasn't scared of him. She never could be. But she was a nervous wreck on her questions for him as she was afraid of his answers. She loved Damon Salvatore more than anything. She would forever be grateful to him as despite everything, they made Angel together. With his actions, past and current, she wasn't completely sure he was ready to be a father or even wanted to be a father)

(Elena would love for them to be a family, yet she knew it wouldn't happen overnight. The Damon she used to know was a partier. She admitted to Caroline she was hurt at the fact that Damon was pulling away from Angel in the end. She wanted to shield their daughter in case he decided he wasn't ready. Well, she thought to herself, it was time for the truth)

(Caroline could cut the tension with a knife. It was obvious to her Elena didn't quite know how to start the conversation. She was relieved when Angel broke the silence)

Angel: "Momma, can we go to the park?"

(Elena tore her eyes nervously away from Damon to look down at her daughter and managed a smile)

Elena: "Sure we can, honey."

Angel: "Can Daddy Damon come?" (quickly shakes her head) "I mean, Damon?"

(Elena couldn't resist glancing at Damon to see his reaction to Angel's choice of words towards him. She couldn't really make it out as he just smiled politely)

Oh, Damon, why won't you let her call you Daddy Damon? Are you trying to hint that you don't want to be her father?

(Elena shrugs and offers a smile)

Elena: "It's up to Damon, sweetie." (to Damon) "Not sure how much you like the park, but you're welcome to join us."

Damon: (nods) "Yeah, I'll come."

Angel: (excitedly) "Yay!"

Caroline: "I would come, but I have to go to work."

Damon: (smiles sarcastically) "Such a shame."

(Caroline rolls her eyes in annoyance before facing Elena)

Caroline: "You guys have fun." (to Angel) "Listen to your mom, okay?"

Angel: (smiles) "Of course, Aunt Caroline."

(While Caroline gives Elena a hug, she whispers)

Caroline: "Now is your chance to get your answers from him."

(Caroline pulls away and looks at Damon seriously)

Caroline: "Behave yourself."

Damon: (shrugs) "I do."

(Caroline studies him before sighing. She departs, leaving three of them. Elena tries not to show her nervousness so she offers a smile)

Elena: "Ready to go to the park?"

Damon: "Lead the way."

(He signals for Elena and Angel to start walking. Elena takes Angel's hand and they all walk to the park. When they finally get to the park, Elena smiles as she watches Angel run for the swings. Damon slides his hands in his jean pockets as he walks to a bench with Elena to sit down. Damon occasionally looks at Elena while he watches their daughter on the swings. Elena smiles at her ex. She is tempted to place her hand over his, which is now on both sides of his thighs. She sighs softly as a part of her wished he would make a move, but she knew she wasn't ready for that yet. Damon steals a glance at his soul mate and sighs)

Oh, Elena, I wish I knew what to do to prove to you I love you as well as our daughter. I know it doesn't look like I'm in it for the long haul. Then again, I never thought I'd have a daughter right now, either. As much as I hate to admit it, Stefan is right. It's not fair of me to be in Angel's life if I'm not ready to be a father. She deserves to have a father in her life

(Damon looks at Angel attempting to swing and chuckles)

How could I not fall in love with that little girl?

(Angel looks up from her kids swing and faces Damon)

Angel: "Damon, can you push me?"

(At first Damon looks at her with a slight nervous face, but the four year olds cheerful smile puts him at ease. Damon faces Elena and the two of them share a smile before he gets up off the bench. He walks to his daughter, then goes behind her)

Damon: "Hey, sweetie."

Angel: "Hi, Damon!"

(He kneels down to her level and puts his hands on both chains of the swing before facing her)

Damon: "How high do you wanna go?"

Angel: (smiles) "Up to the sky!"

Damon: (laughs) "You wanna go to the clouds?"

Angel: (excitedly) "Yeah!"

Damon: (chuckles) "Okay. Just keep your hands on the chains and if you want to get off, just let me know, okay?"

Angel: (nods) "Okay, Damon."

(Damon can't help but smile at the little girl. He had to admit she was a breath of fresh air. He didn't realize it at the time, but his doubts about not being a father to Angel were slowly fading away. He stands up and puts his hands on her back)

Damon: "Ready?"

Angel: "Ready!"

(He chuckles at her enthusiasm before he starts to push her. She excitedly cheers and pumps her legs as she swings. As Damon is pushing Angel, he keeps his focus on her. Elena can't resist the smile from forming as she watches Angel being pushed by Damon on the swings. Oh, how she wished every day could be like this)
