Chapter 7

Vorns pass without any incidences and Cybertron's cities continue to grow. So far there haven't been any issues with the charges which SparkSoul has taken on so everything is rather peaceful. She's been to the local academy and branched out, meeting new bots. The issue with being out of the house while still looking very much like one of the Spark family is that everybot avoids you.

SparkSoul throws herself down onto SparkTricker's berth as her brother works through the last of his tactical problems. Her own are finished and sent off to their creator. It's become much easier now to work through them, data flowing smoothly without a hitch through both battle computers and her processor.

SparkSoul cycles air softly through her vents as she waits for her brother to finish rather impatiently. The problems really aren't that hard. The moment SparkTricker finishes she rolls onto her stomach and stretches out her doorwings gently, flicking them back and forth.

"So, how many new charges do you think we're getting? A couple or just one? None of the other ones have needed protecting or anything. SparkSmasher's getting annoyed, you should have seen the way he was storming around the common room earlier. It was kind of funny, until he smashed the holovid console."

"I don't know, hopefully only a few. What happens if we have to protect multiple at one time and they're in completely different places? I don't see how that could work. Plus, I'm pretty sure it's dangerous to have too many partial sibling bonds. That's what I learnt at the academy anyway," SparkTricker replies as he turns around.

"I barely feel the other ones, can't be that much of a problem. Anyways, we have to head soon to the hall. How did you find the tactical problems?"

"They're getting harder, that last one was giving me a lot of issues. Then again I'm finding that this latest battle computer upgrade has made it slower. Plus there are a couple of glitches there that are giving me problems. I've had to bring it up with medical and they're going to do the next upgrade sometime next decaorn. When's your next one scheduled for?"

"They aren't getting that much harder. I'm upgrading again next decaorn again as well. I believe I'm getting the latest model with the 10.0 software. Hopefully it works well."

SparkTricker raises an eyebrow, "Which model do you have right now?"

"Umm, the one which was brought out about twenty decaorns ago with the 9.0 software."

"Slag, you've got a way more advanced battle computer than I do. I'm still on the model which was brought out in the middle of last vorn. It's real glitchy, I feel sorry for the bots who can't afford to upgrade from it. I get the worst helm aches, and before I routed my spark through it I was on the fritz a heck of a lot."

"I remember that one only had it in for a couple of decaorns before getting upgraded. It was a pain in the doorwing joint."

"Yeah, you're right about that."

"Agh, crap it's time to get moving. Creator's going to have our helms if we're late, if he can beat SparkTwister to them."

The two teleport from SparkTwister's room to the Great Hall where they met their first group of charges vorns ago. The room is emptier this time, SparkSoul notices as she takes her place in line. There's probably 24 bots here, much younger than the ones that they met last time.

Some of them are barely out of their sparkling frames, tiny in comparison to SparkSoul and her siblings who tower over normal bots. The siblings aren't left waiting long as their Creator appears just moments after they all arrive, barring SparkStealer.

The femme is barely ever seen at the house anymore, most of the time not even returning for the night cycle. She stays outside their house's walls and completely ignores her siblings when she's at home. SparkSoul use to be close to her sister but now she doesn't know a thing about her. She's not bright and open like she used to be, so different now. SparkSoul doesn't try to get to know her sister, letting well enough alone.

The odd thing, the siblings find, is that SparkStealer is never punished for her absences. She never enters the medical bay, there's never a scratch on her small frame. She's taken to having a small frame size, a quarter of the size of the one SparkSoul has.

Silently SparkSoul laments the fact that her sister can't be bothered to look after her own responsibilities. It's frustrating to have to take on all of her sister's duties as well as her own. Creator Three walks to the front of the room and introduces each of them in turn before the mechs and femmes separate into their colour coded groups.

SparkSoul makes her way over to the left side of the room where her group awaits her. SparkStealer's group is right next to her own so she waves them over. There's four mechs in her own group with two mechs and two femmes in SparkStealer's group.

As SparkSoul gets nearer she notices how small one of the mechs in her group is. He's still in his sparkling frame and nowhere near old enough to be graduating onto his youngling frame. He's black and white in colour, red chevron perched upon his helm. Little doorwings spread from his back, fluttering gently.

This sparkling is the first to step forwards when she arrives, little helm held steady as he waits patiently. SparkSoul stifles as smile as she reaches out a hand and places it very gently on the little mech's helm. She lets her spark energy curl out through her palm and through him until she reaches his spark. Forming the bond takes seconds however; unlike with the older bots this sparkling doesn't know how to control his emotions properly and everything he feels his shared across the bond until SparkSoul fades out her own end. She puts up some blocks to make sure he can't feel her emotions before lifting her hand.

The sparkling, Prowl, her spark supplies for her, steps back. Another mech steps forwards and SparkSoul repeats the process. SparkStealer's charges are reluctant to step forward however they do after a moment of deliberation. It isn't long before each of them has formed sibling bonds with SparkSoul.

SparkSoul is the last to finish and walks to the front of the room and re-joins the line. She tunes out whatever it is her creator says to the gathered bots. The femme follows her siblings out of the room before teleporting back to the house, to SparkTricker's room.

She arrives at the same time he does and they settle down onto the berth.

"Did you see how young some of them were? Barely older than sparklings!"

"One of them was a sparkling, one of my charges. He's nowhere near getting his youngling frame, can't be more than five vorns old."

"The little black and white mech with the red chevron?"

"Yeah, him. He couldn't control his emotions over the bond either, had to shut it down partially from my side. I don't think he has a sibling bond with any of the others either. The poor mech seemed kind of shocked when my spark touched his."

"I got the feeling that he isn't really part of the family like the rest of them are. "

"There were some scuffs on his frame, not much but at least enough to indicate that he's been injured at some point."

"The marks along his doorwings?"

"Yeah, those ones but there were a couple of other marks on his torso as well."

"Do you reckon he has a battle computer already?"

"He might, I'm not sure though. Not like I discussed anything with any of the charges I took on today. SparkStealer's ones were pretty put off when I called them over."

"Probably expecting her to turn up, not that she ever turns up to anything."

"Not like they know that I guess."

"Nah, pretty bad on her behalf though, not even bothering to show up to these things. Then again it's not like creator or Twister care at all."

"I don't think she'd turn up even if they cared. She doesn't give a frag what happens around here, too busy doing whatever it is she does when she's not here."

"Poor guy if he does have a battle computer though," SparkSmasher says after a moment of silence, still caught up on the sparkling from earlier.

"Especially if he's got one of the models brought out last vorn, they're definitely some of the worst."

"Not much we can do about it."

"Guess not, anyways I'm going to head into the common room, do you want to come?"

"Sure."

The two siblings get up and leave the room, heading out towards their common area. SparkSoul's processor caught up on the idea that one of her charges is so young. What would someone so young need protection from anyway?

Thanks for reading, drop a review in down the bottom here and I'll reply soonish (depends on school ugh)
