Obi-Wan was dead. It's not something I like to recall. He vanished. We didn't even get a body. Darth Vader and Obi-Wan had had a lightsaber battle. Obi-Wan was the unfortunate one. It's not like I was that close to Obi-Wan..it's just that Luke was. They were very good friends, and Luke didn't think he was going to die like that. We had managed to escape. There was a silence on the Falcon. Luke sat in the back. I approached him, sitting beside him with my hands on my knees. "Luke..I'm so sorry" I said awkwardly. He shook his head "there's nothing any of us could have done..".
All of a sudden, after a few moment's silence, he pulled me into him. I placed one hand on his chest, the other still rested on my knee. "You know.." be began "never mind". I didn't want to quiz him, I knew he was so upset. I figured now wasn't the time to tell him how I felt about him. He probably figured the same, if that's what he was thinking. I nodded "you can tell me later, Luke. There's no rush. You can say what you wanted to say when you feel better, okay?". He nodded and kissed the top of my head "thanks, Amara". Star came then, and sat beside me "You alright, Luke?" she questioned. He stood up "Yeah. Just going to go to the cockpit" he sighed. Star looked at me "I feel so bad for him". "Me too.." I sighed, giving us a little space by moving where Luke had been.
"I've decided that I'll tell Han when we get to Yavin 4.. don't know how he's going to take it" she said, groaning slightly. "If he doesn't take it well, I'll slap him for you" I giggled, trying to lighten the mood. It worked, because she smiled "please do. Hey, you're the greatest and only friend I have. I'll always appreciate you, even if we have to say goodbye after this. I'll always remember you". I hugged her tightly "as will I, Star. You're a truly beautiful person and a great friend". We pulled back. "Have you talked to the princess yet?" I asked her. "Meh, a little. She seems to be talking to Luke and Han more so" she told me with a sigh, looking to the ground. "What's the matter, Star?" I wondered, placing my hand on her shoulder. "I don't want to be depressing, Amara. It's just..I'm afraid to lose him" she admitted "there! I said it. I'm crazy in love with the smuggler Han Solo". "You're not going to lose him" I reassured her "He's crazy in love with you also". "You think so?" she asked, sniffing a little. I smiled at her, patting her back "I know so".
When we reached Yavin 4, we were escorted to the hangar. We were then brought to a medium sized room where we sat at the back while the pilots were getting a talk. I presumed they were planning on destroying the death star. To be honest, I lacked interest, so began to daydream. I noticed Luke listening in carefully. I felt like I was missing something. Had he volunteered to help? If so, I was so worried. I leaned in and whispered "are you going to help out?". He nodded "yeah, great, huh?" with a smile. I nodded slowly, and began to listen in on the mission then. It sounded pretty dangerous, I only hoped Luke would make it back alive.
Luke went to get changed with the guys. That's when I saw him. Biggs. I gasped and smile widely, running towards him. "Biggs!" I exclaimed. He turned, his eyes lighting up "Amara!". I jumped into his arms. He twisted me around, setting me down and kissing my head. "Oh Biggs I've missed you!" I giggled happily. "Me too, Amara!". He then paused, seeing Luke behind me. They hugged, patting each others back and laughing happily. We then had a group hug, the kind we used to do after a long day of hanging out. "Amara you're even more beautiful than when I left" Biggs winked, jokingly. I giggled, blushing a little. Luke, though Biggs was making a joke, seemed to become quite jealous. "Hey..back off" he said, laughing a little. "What? Jealous of me and Amara? Huh Luke?" he said, punching him on the shoulder gently "speaking of which.. you two together yet?". Luke and I both looked at him in confusion. That's when I remembered. I told Biggs of my feelings for Luke. I silently cursed myself ,watching him smirk at our confusion. That's when I noticed Star and Han packing up. Star looked so mad at him, he looked mad in return. "Oh..no. Luke, come on. Sorry, Biggs be right back". "yeah be right back" Luke sighed, noticing too.
I ran over, gently pulling her shoulder so she turned to look at me. Her eyes softened, though just a little. Luke began to talk to Han, while I talked to my new friend. "What's going on?" I questioned. She pointed to Han "this selfish prick.." her hand fell back to her side "wants to leave and not help out". I sighed a little , eyeing Han , clearly upset. I took her hand, pulling her out of ear shot. "What are you going to do?" I asked, nodding to her tummy. "I need to leave him. He's being so horrible to me right now, Amara. I love him so much. He doesn't feel the same, though. You were wrong that once". "Have you told him?" I asked, sighing a little. She shook her head "and he'll never now. He's not worthy of being a father". "Star!" I heard Han shout. She closed her eyes, then opened them, blinking back the tears. "It was so lovely meeting you, Mara. Can I call you that?". I nodded, my eyes filling with tears also. She pulled me into a big hug, kissing my cheek as she pulled away. "You've been a wonderful friend, I'll miss you" she said, wiping her eyes as she began to walk away. "You too. You'll always be the star in my sky". She laughed through tears, waving a little before boarding the falcon. I turned to Luke. He held out his arms, noticing the tears in my eyes. "This isn't fair". "I know, Amara". "Luke, she shouldn't have to put up with him. She's pregnant". He pulled me back a little, staring into my eyes in shock. I nodded, wiping my eyes. He was then called. It was time. I thought I should maybe tell him then, but I didn't get to. The princess approached us, smiling gently at me. I couldn't help but feel jealous as she wished him look and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
He then tried to walk away, without saying goodbye. "Luke" I called. He turned around, his eyes sparkling a little as he smiled at me. "Goodbye" I said through tears. He held open his arms, and I ran into them, crying loudly. He shook his head, before kissing mine and whispering "This isn't goodbye, Amara. It's only the beginning. We'll talk when I get back..okay?". I nodded. As he walked off, hopping into his x-wing I couldn't help but feel it was. "I love you" I whispered, watching him as he took off. To my absolute surprise, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I gasped, twisting myself around. The princess. "OH! Princess" I smiled, wiping my eyes quickly. "Leia" she grinned, pulling me in for a long hug. I felt right then that I could trust her with all of me. "I love him" I whispered. She nodded "I can tell. He'll be back. Then you two can be together". She pulled back, smiling gently and pulling me by my hand towards the control room. "You can watch him if you like, keep you reassured". "I'd rather wait here" I smiled "I want to be the first to see him when he gets back". She giggled "that's true love. Okay, sweetheart. if you need me you know where I'll be".
So I waited patiently, hoping that the love of my life would return to me. So I could finally tell him how I felt.
