Cordelia's P.O.V.
The wizard in red had left me alone yet again. Actually, I don't know if he's a wizard, but I guess he... looks like one. Why else would he be in the League? He just doesn't seem muscular enough to be a warrior or something, to me at least, because I'm not exactly familiar with the characteristics one must have to be a part of the League. Is it possible that he's an elf? Like the ones from the Lord of the Rings. Those are beautiful... Hmm, maybe he could be an elf after all, even though he isn't all that graceful...
Anyway, he was gone. By the moment I realized I was alone, all I could think of was "escape! Escape through the window!"
I tried to get up. I felt... kinda tired. More tired than before I even slept at all. I stumbled a little, but luckily, I managed not to fall.
Opening the window was a bit more difficult than closing it. When I pushed it to open, it immediately closed again, as if it was enchanted. Nonsense. It was just too old and rusty.
The annoying bugs entered the room again. Vladimir will be fine with this, I thought, he has already sprayed himself head to toe with anti-mosquito spray, judging from what happened before. Then I looked down and all I saw was dark. Trying to look a bit closer... still dark. Maybe I will only find out when I climb down.
But I didn't. I couldn't. There was a sound behind me: something atrocious was happening. At first, I froze and was afraid to look, as it sounded as if a bowl of hot, boiling water was coming closer and closer. My guess was not really contradicted. What I saw was a pool of blood, which was somehow moving closer and closer to where I stood. I watched in horror as this thing started to take a human form.
The blood rushed and formed the body from the bottom to the top, slowly, letting me see every detail of the process. And of course, the person who emerged from this... this thing, was none other than the red wizard.
He noticed where I was standing. I, however, noticed that the mosquitoes had gone again. Then he spoke.
"Why did you open the window?" He was serious, maybe slightly annoyed too.
"To get some fresh air."
"Oh. Are you sure about that?"
"...Yes."
"I... suppose you should close it now, no? It's already kinda... cold in here..."
He was right, it wasn't as warm as before, so I closed it. And I couldn't begin the typical conversation "I want to leave, blah blah blah" not after seeing that horrifying trick with the blood pool. Which leads to my question.
"Um.. when you said that you participate in this League... you didn't say why... I mean... are you a warrior or something? I guess not..."
He turned around and started walking around the room as if to not meet my gaze. "It's... nothing interesting, really..." he trailed off.
"But why? I want to know!" I said and ran behind him. Thinking that he may be leaving again, for who-knows-what business, I caught up to him and instictively grabbed his hand. It was cold. Such a warm night and he was cold. Immediately, I let go of his hand.
"Answer me!" He didn't say anything. He was looking at me, contemplating if he should tell me the truth, I suppose, even though that look was getting slightly intimidating as seconds passed. Damn, this place is full of lunatics, I should have found a way out from the first minute. "What..." I started saying, but I was cut off by his loud laugh.
"Hahahahaha! You still haven't figured it out? Nobody mentioned it to you, not even the champions you encountered?"
His laugh was intimidating. Why did he get so scary all of a sudden? At this point, I felt the urge to run away more than ever before. Still, I managed to nod "no".
"Well then, it was about time you'd ask." Great. And the answer is... "...I am a wizard. A wizard whose ability is to control blood."
I would have... never expected that. "In fact, the only one in here. I guess you will have probably understood by now why I brought you here today. I mean, tonight."
I simply stared at him in utter confusion. What was he implying?
"Oh, of course not, Cordelia, of course not. Let me explain. You may find yourself wondering "what does a blood mage do?" well, he collects blood, it's simple as that. But since I got in the League... with their rules, the battles and everything... I couldn't do that anymore. So I thought I'd remember the old days... And, long story short, here you are now, my first victim in years."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I took a step back, and I would have run, if only he wasn't as fast and didn't seize me with his unreasonably cold hands...
